The bonds of friendship
How long will the bonds of friendship last in a world of hatred, mistrust, and violence? Only time will tell. When 6 girls are thrust into a world so much unlike their own they are forced to rely on each other (and maybe a few tricks…) to survive. How long will they last? Who will the ally with? Who will their enemies be? How will they change?
It was a cold December night, but a certain rainbow haired Valkyrie didn’t mind. She was sitting next to a nice warm fire and playing fallout 3. There was a strange sound from behind, and spun, grabbed her pistol, and stood up to face it. There was a flash of light, searing pain, and suddenly she felt hot sand against her back.
“What the fuck? Where the hell am I?” she asked no one in particular. The opened her eyes and saw a vast desert spread out before her and smelled radiation in on the hot wind. ”ah, the sweet smell of nuclear radiation…..” she mused happily. She felt the e pistol in her hand. She looked to her right an d saw her personal 9mm pistol.it was in the exact style as in fallout new Vegas and had a rainbow finish. In the side was engraved the words” war never changes”. Thank celestia I still have this she thought.
“dashie? Is that you?” she heard fluttershy’s voice call.
“Sure is!” answered rainbow. Then she noticed something on the wrist of her shooting arm; a pip-boy. At that revelation, she screamed in glee. ”I’m in fallout! This is so awesome!” she shouted. She heard a loud squee and turned to see fluttershy bouncing up and down with pure, unfiltered happiness.
“I can’t believe it! Dashie, we’re in fallout new Vegas!” fluttershy shouted. Then she fainted form the excitement.
“it’s okay flutters, I got you....” rainbow said as she laid fluttershy down against a rock wall and started to look for something flammable. Her efforts were rewarded, as she found an old rotted (and slightly irradiated) piece of wooden walling, as well as a few pieces of charcoal. She quickly returned to fluttershy and lit a fire. Soon after sunset (and after fluttershy woke up) she saw 3 familiar people walking toward their fire. ”twilight! AJ, pinkie! You’re okay! I was worried about you guys.” rainbow said.
“Where are we? And what it that horrible smell?” twilight sparkle asked.
“We are in the Mojave wasteland, the best desert on earth!” rainbow replied happily.” And that smell is nuclear radiation, and I think it’s one of the sweetest smells in existence.”
“uh...Rainbow…ah think you need mental help…” applejack said in her southern accent.
“Oh come on AJ, dashie is perfectly fine, she just happens to like the smell of radiation.” Fluttershy chimed in. out of nowhere a giant mutated gecko jumped in front of them, to immediately be tackled by rainbow.
“Say you’re prayers motherfucker...” she said before blowing it’s brains out with her 9mm. ”dinner is served!” she said to her friends, pulling out her combat knife to skin it and cut it up to eat.
“mmmmm, my favorite!” said fluttershy.
“Fluttershy, I thought you were a vegetarian….” Said twilight with a hint of concern in her voice.
“I’ve eaten meat the whole time, you just assumed I didn’t and I humored you when we were together.” Fluttershy explained.” And before you can ask how I can stand to eat the flesh of an irradiated creature, it’s because I cook with nuclear radiation all the time, and I think it makes food taste even better. ”After a few minutes of explanation the gecko was done. Rainbow started to hand out pieces of mutant as if she was handing out smores.
“I hope you all like you’re meat smoked, because that’s how I cooked it.” Rainbow said before taking a bite of mutant and smiling like a child who just bit into a piece of cake. ”This is the most delicious thing I have ever tasted….” She said between bites. The others (excluding fluttershy and pinkie pie(who might well have been a mutant herself)) were more hesitant to eat the meat the rainbow haired Valkyrie had handed to them.
“Uh…rainbow…” twilight said.
“Twilight, just try it, I promise that you’ll like it.” Rainbow said. Twilight and AJ both took bites of the meat and smiled.it was delicious. But then twilight vomited. ”oh, sorry twilight, I forgot to mention, the first time you eat irradiated food, you will vomit…”Rainbowdash said right before AJ vomited.
“Heartaches by the number, troubles by the score……” sang fluttershy.
“….every day you love me less, each day I love you more….” Applejack joined in. progressively they all joined in, even twilight who didn’t know the lyrics.
“Okay everybody, it’s getting late, we should probably get some sleep….” Said Rainbow. Pinkie and fluttershy frowned. ”or we could stay up and have some vodka…” the Valkyrie said in a tone to say that was the option she would prefer. She pulled out a bottle and they sat around drinking until the bottle was dry.
“we should go to drunk, we’re sleep…..” Twilight said drunkenly. They all laughed (though twilight didn’t know why she was laughing). Everyone laid down and closed their eyes to go to sleep.
Time lapse
Fluttershy noticed she was cold. She saw that the fire had burned down to embersbut that still didn’t explain it. Then she realized that Rainbowdash was gone. Then she saw the Valkyrie crouching on a nearby rock watching the dawn. Then she suddenly pointed her pistol straight up and fired off a shot. Everyone jumped to their feet in surprise.
“Get up sleepy heads; it’s time to get moving.” Rainbow said. ”and rarity, could you make a jacket out of this?” she was now holding up the gecko hide. rarity cringed.
“I guess I could make a leather jacket out of that….should I include holes for wings?” the fashonista said/asked.
“Yeah, fluttershy needs some armor.” Rainbow answered. “According to the map on my pip-boy, we’re near goodsprings. That’s probably the best place we could go right now because we have barely any equipment.”
“so who’s the courier?” asked fluttershy. Everyone but rainbow looked at her questioningly.
“I don’t think there is a courier in the reality flutters….. I guess we’re here to take place of that lone hero” rainbow answered.
courier POV
really?you want to hear my story? okay,but it ain't pretty. as you may know,I got shot by some guy named Benny because I was carrying the platinum chip.
my first thoughts after I woke up were:
well ain't that a kick in the head. you know when you have one of those days when you think you're the most unlucky person on earth? combine all of those days that you had,and multiply them by 5. that's how bad my day was. you may not believe me,but when you get shot in the head in the middle of the night and crawl out of your won shallow grave with a 9mm hole in your head,you'll agree,worst.day.ever. that bastard Benny is going to pay.when I get my hands on him he'll wish he'd never been born.
what I saw next was even more crazy then crawling out of my grave(at least that's what I think.)
before me is the strangest sight I've ever seen. 6 teenage girls in prewar clothing, 2 with wings, two who had a horn on their heads, and 2 normal ones. what is going on?! am I high? " am I high or is this real?" I ask them.
"real,as far as I know" said one with a horn sceptically.
"are...are you the courier?" a winged one with rainbow hair asked.rainbow hair. I'm serious. really,you've seen that kind of thing? naturally rainbow? wow man,DC is a strange place.anyway.....
"yeah...." I answered.as soon as I said that the rainbow haired one and the other one with wings..what?okay, the other "Valkyrie", began to jump up and down squealing. same thing when they found out who you were? I guess this kind of thing runs in the family. after a moment of confusion at this,I tried to stand up,but then I blacked out.next thing I knew I was in doc Mitchel's house....
mane 6 POV
"uh..we should go find a doctor,shouldn't we?" asked twilight
"yeah,we should get her to doc Mitchel right away."said flutter shy,lifting the woman and carrying her down the hill.then she noticed a tattoo of the number 12 in dark blue on her left arm right below the shoulder.this puzzled her,but she decide to ask her when he woke up.
courier POV
so after doc Mitchel fixed me up and I did the whole ink blot test thing,I went out side to see the girls who doc Mitchel said brought me to him. and of course,no surprise here, it was the girl who were there when I passed out.
"uh..hi..."I said,and they all greeted me in turn. then I had to ask: " who are you girls exactly?" the rainbow haired one was rainbowdash,the pink haired Valkyrie was fluttershy,the..oh,you already knew this...oh,sorry,I forgot.....anyway,after that they asked me who I was. "hey call me 12..."I answered.
"no,really,what's your name?" asked twilight sparkle
"12 is my name, I'm a clone."I said.
"so there's at least 11 other copies of you running around?" asked twilight
"well,no...we're not exact clones,we're more like the children of the person who's and they used,but we were created by some sort of vault tech machine....." I said."I've heard that my brother 11 has made quite a name for himself as a hero back east...."we stood their silently for a moment."uh...anyway,thanks for bringing me over here....." I said as I left.
