Who am I? What is a "pony"?

Miss Scratch had left a while ago. She said that miss Sun Butt was super nice if you got to know her, but she seemed boring to me. Miss Scratch had told me "butt" was a silly word and made me say bottom instead.

"Miss Sun Bot..."

" Once again, my name is Celestia dear" The bigger pony grinned at her in a sly fashion. She knew I hated being called a dear when I now knew I was a pony. Maybe there is something to all this name stuff.

" Miss Celestia Bottom, where do I normally sleep at night? Do I live in this place?" . She gave me the same frozen  smile that I got every time I asked a bad question. I HATED that frozen smile! Why did no one know anything about me?!

" It's nothing you need to worry about dear. Have you picked a name like miss crash suggested?" I missed miss scratch, but she said miss Sun Bottom would protect me. I shook my head no. " You really should. As you have said yourself, you don't have any antlers. we can't keep calling you dear can we?" She paused and put a hoof to her chin, I believe that means she is thinking lots. " Why don't we go to the library? We can see if any of the books give you ideas."

Towns are kind of confusing. Why did everyone start laying down on their tummies in front of Sun Bottom? It was funny but she said I couldn't laugh. She said that if anyone sees me I lose the game. I don't remember when we started a game. I wish I could have said hi.

When we got to a big tree Star Butt opened its door from the inside. There were a LOT of books. There was no way I could read all of these! I dashed along the shelf trying to count all the books. This one was read, this one blue, a big black book was at the end, there was a small purple book called diary, but it looked boring. There it was above me. a book I just had to read! It was titled " Dragons and you" and it was by Angry Night the Gummed. It took me a sec, but the book came down.

It had slammed into the floor loudly. Just as I was about to dive in and enjoy the book when a familiar glow snatched it up!

" Oh No You Don't" Miss Sun Bottom took the book I worked so hard to get! " You shouldn't take out books for just the pictures, you need to be able to read it as well."

"bu...buh..!?" I stuttered confusedly. Before I could tell them I could read it miss Star Butt placed a new book in front of me. It was a cheap cardboard book titled " See Speedy Gallop". I tried to grab the book I had gotten as it floated away. Star Butt laughed at me! The book floated higher then I could reach, so I just sat there.

" Now now now, you should stick to books at your level dear." Those meanies were calling me stupid! Me staying hidden on the way here wasn't a game, she didn't want to be seen with me! They.... THEY!

"EK MEGA VIT BÓKINN. ÞIT BREYTR LÍKR... líkr... GRUNNR ANDLITS!"  I Screamed out my anger at Sun Bottom and Star Butt, and snatched the book back with my teeth. Running out the door and down the street I didn't look back.

I tried not to cry on the book  as I ran down the street. I wanted to keep running forever, but I had to stop to catch my breath eventually. I can't believe Miss Scratch left me with them. Was she in on it too? They... they... they tricked me completely. That hurt in places I didn't know about before. I set the book aside to cry again.

Twilight sparkle was running through her notes on the strange book."Princess what on Earth did it shout before it ran out of here?" She had found almost nothing about it in any of her notes.

"I... I..." Was all the Princess said as she sat on the floor. The Princess seemed to be in shock, but the book the foal had snatched was unknown to Twilight. That was even stranger, wasn't it?

"Princess please, we need to find out about the book. I might be able to locate it if I knew more." Celestia slowly started moving again before finally standing back up.

" Our mysterious foal said, I can "understand" the book. you, both, act like bottom faces." Celestia calmly She pulled down a book on ancient Scandineighvian tribes. Twilight hadn't even heard of that book, yet here it was in her library. " And it probably can. It seems our new found foal is not as 'new' as we thought." Celestia sighed and the pages of the tome blurred. Then they stopped suddenly as a thought came to her.

" Twilight did it ever ask for a book when in the hospital?" Twilight re-winded a bit and played through everything it had said so far.

" no your highness why do you ask?" It was quite a strange question.

" Why did we assume it could read at all?"

I was running again, my eyes hurt, my hooves hurt, my heart hurt. I had to find Miss Scratch. I had to know if the music knew about what Miss Celestia had planned. I fell down. My whole face hurt! Wait what was that sound?

The rustling sound passed by my ears again. I did a three-sixty. Who was following me? Then I saw them, the ponies from earlier. The ones that were the same size as me. They were in a bush a bit behind me eyes popping out. Suddenly an idea struck me! I ran back the way I came until I felt mud under my hooves again. Turning quickly I used my glow to lob a hoof-full of it. suddenly my head hurt, but I watched as it hit the yellow and pink one square on the nose! All three stood there as I ran away again.

I passed by more of the big ponies. One or two tried to stop me, but I was too fast for any of them. I laughed as a big red one fell flat on his chest. Miss Scratch wasn't anywhere though! One of the winged big ones was trying to snatch me up as I ran past another horn head. I saw a big pie on a near by table and grabbed it with my teeth. I let it loose and it struck one of the winged one's wings. I winced as he yelled out, but they were the enemy and I had to escape. I fled the enclosed street as fast as I could. Running past stunned big ponies I reached a wide area with small wooden tables with food and such. something about buying and bits was being shouted as I ducked through one of them.

How many of these big ponies were there??? I was surrounded totally now. They all seemed intent on catching me. I was shaking scared. when did I start doing that? I was tired too. When had I started trying to yawn? All these bad sensations assaulted me simultaneously; I could barely stand. There was Miss Sun Bottom again! The crowd let her pass, and she marched out in front of me.

Suddenly the winged one I had hit earlier pounced on me. I fell tiredly under her and she stood proudly over me. Wait it was rainbow tail! I couldn't let her capture me.

Why didn't they just leave me alone?? Why "sniff" why couldn't they just let me go? The music wasn't anywhere. I was alone. I was alone again, like I always had and would be. I couldn't remember what had happened but I just cried from the feeling of it. It struck my heart again and again. I lay there coughing up dirt and sobbing like a little child. Why was everything so much bigger then me.

I barely remembered how tired I was before I fell asleep.

Vinyl Scratch had knocked off Rainbow Dash without thinking. She had seized up the small foal before her brain had even got its shoes on. She had just turned back to the crowd when the first thought arrived at her conscious mind.

'She's hurting' was all it was. A single two word thought had caused her to attack one of the Elements of Harmony. Now it held her there with the filly on her back as the Princess approached. Now a second thought arrived.

"ohh shit"

I felt a glow lift me in my sleep, then warmth of another as I was set down again. Something smelled ... familiar? I just had to know what it was! I struggled to open my eyes and see what I was on. I managed to pry them open a bit and I saw the crowd from before.

"EEEP!" I had an uncontrollable urge to hide. Trying to get behind myself only made a mess and I fell off whatever was I had been sleeping on. I remembered the chase, they were after me! Why hadn't the got me yet? I saw Rainbow Tail now in the crowd. I don't know what happened but I could escape! Suddenly my vision went white. What?!

I looked up to see who was in front of me. I saw... It was Miss Scratch!  I remembered the smell again. I had been sleeping on her back! She must have saved me.

I dashed under her for safety. She would protect me easy!
