Chapter 6

She jumped into my arms for a long embrace “are you sure?”

  “Yes I went to the doctors and you will never guess who my nurse was.”

“Who?”

“Roseleigh she was so happy for us she told me to tell you to stop by the hospital sometime for a checkup.”

“ohh alright do you think were ready to be parents?”

“I think we will do fine blaze just think our own little pegasi.”

“I’m proud of you Dashie you're going to be a great mother.” "what if they don’t like me dashie? "

"Ohh blaze they will love you, you will be a great father I know it you treat your wife so well."she giggled.  “I guess you're right Dashie”

“did they say if its a stallion or mare?”

“I am not sure I have to go back in tomorrow for an ultrasound.”

“Mind if I go?”

“Yes it would mean so much if you came!”

“Alright well mamma you should get some rest and some food.” As I walked in the kitchen to make some food for Dashie she trotted over to me and said “thank you blaze you have made me the happiest mare in the world.”

“I love you blaze”

“love you to dashie” she blushed and walked back to our bedroom. I watched the beautiful cyan mare as she walked she looked even more beautiful than ever from the light of the window as her mane shined bright.

Just as I finished preparing the food someone knocked on the door.  I walked towards the door stopping next to our room and looked in sleeping cuddled into a ball how she always slept with her hoofs over her belly.  Mothers instinct I guess as I continued towards the door they knocked again.  I opened the door it was Roseleigh

“hello please come in.”  As she walked in I told her to be quiet rainbow dash was sleeping.

She whispered to me “how is she?”

“she is excited and nervous but then again so am I.”  As I heard the cyan mare coming into the room

“sorry dashie didn't mean to wake you.”

she said in a sweet quiet voice “its ok but I am hungry again”

she giggled.  “Ohh I brought you something rainbow dash” Roseleigh pulled out a cupcake from sugarcube corner.

“Thank you Roseleigh”

“Your are very welcome dashie” she gave her a wink.

  “So you're coming in tomorrow for the ultrasound correct?”

“Yes we will both be there tomorrow” she was unusually quiet for some reason.

After Roseleigh  left I went over to dashie “what's wrong?”

“I am just so nervous about it all.”

  “Don't worry I will be there for you every step of the way dashie.

” “promise?”

“I promise dashie I love you and will always be here for you.”

“its late we should get some sleep its been a long day.”

“Alright but blaze no getting out of bed in the middle of the night I get scared when you do.”

“alright dashie I promise”

“we have a child now you must protect your family.”

We both walked over to the bed and layed down she looked into my eyes “get some sleep dashie tomorrow is a big day.” As she closed her eyes she curled up into a ball with her hooves over her stomach as to be protecting the child.  I put my hooves around her she jumped

“shhh its just me dashie I am helping protect the baby.” She smiled as my hooves touched her stomach.

The next day when I awoke she was standing staring out the window.  I got out of bed she must have heard me because she quickly turned around and I could see she had been crying.  immediately I ran over to her

“Dashie what's wrong!?”

“I tried going to Sugar Cube corner today and I can't fly anymore i'm too big.”  I let out a sigh of relief “sweety its ok I can bring you wherever you need to go alright.”  I wiped the tears from her cheeks  she embraced me and said sniffling still

“Can we go to sugar cube corner for breakfast?” I smiled and said

“of course sweetheart”  As I was locking the door she was trying to fly I watched her struggle I quickly flew over to her.

“Here Dashie” I picked her up with my hooves and off we went to Sugar Cube corner. She was not a happy mare but she was grateful I was there to help.

As we were walking in the door everyone ambushed us with cameras and people asking questions.  She was mortified the look on her face crushed my soul I picked her back up and we rushed to the doctors.  Now she was in tears for the second time

“shhh its ok dashie i'll get this sorted out ok don't worry.”

  we arrived at the hospital a crowd was following close behind.  Roseleigh  was standing outside she saw what was happening

“quickly inside” as we got inside she slammed the door behind us and locked it.  When I set her down she ran to the examination table. As I followed roseleigh got the ultrasound ready roseleigh said

“Blaze do you mind putting this jelly on her stomach it helps us see it better.”  Dashie did not say a word i grabbed the jelly and rubbed it on her stomach she giggled.

  “I promise Dashie I will get this resolved alright?”

  “ok I don't want to go through that again”

“ I know dashie neither do I.”

At that exact moment a single tear ran down my face and princess celestia was standing behind me.  “Blazefire I have worked things out for you and Rainbow Dash until the baby is born you will have to stay at your house but people can visit anytime.”

Rainbow Dash looked at me with dissapointed eyes

“i’m so sorry Dashie” thats all I could think to say

“its ok Blaze I just want to see if its a stallion or mare and go home.”

“alright” roseleigh said

“It is going to be a stallion.”

  Rainbow Dash spoke first “He is going to grow up to be just like his dad” she said with a smile.

“Lets go home dashie” as she got off the examination table I picked her up and away we went.  Celestia must have told everyone to go away because no one was outside.  We flew peacefully home and when I opened the door she bolted into our room and got into bed.  I walked over to her put my hoof on her stomach she put her hoof over mine.  As I crawled into bed I cuddled up around her and put my hooves over her stomach and drifted to sleep.

Seven months later when I woke up to screams of pain and dashie pushing me off the bed.  I knew it was time the past few days roseleigh had been staying in our house.  She quickly rushed into our room I was on the floor still. she told me to get towels I did as she asked.  Within  an hour we had two beautiful children one stallion and one mare.

“Dashie I am so proud of you”

“Congratulations you two did a great job.”

  “We could not have done it without you Rose.”

She smiled and handed me out little filly

“Our little angel Lyra you are going to do great things one day i'm sure of it.”   The look on Dashies face implanted itself in my memory she was so happy but I was to.  This has been the most joy I have ever had in my life besides the fateful night that caused this to happen.  After licking lyra clean Dashie handed me our stallion

“So little on what’s your name?”

Dashie looked at me and said “Daddy meet Ditzy Doo! ” I looked into the little stallions eyes noticing they were cross eyed but they weren't returning to normal.

“I don't care what you look like I am proud to call you my son!”

The next day we left the hospital returning to our house in Cloudsdale.  Both of our children were different Lyra was a unicorn but could stand on clouds and Ditzy well his eyes were crossed and made him a little clumsy. But we loved them both all the same nothing would change that.  Until one day things went from great to an absolute nightmare.

“Dashie i'm going out to get more food.”

“Alright Blaze be careful” as she kissed me goodbye a chill ran down my spine.

  “That will be two bits”

“alright there you are.” As I handed the two bits to the shop keeper I felt something was wrong. I quickly took to the sky flying back as fast as I could to the house as I burst in the door I called

“DASHIE!” there was no response she was gone.
