I thought of writing this as a standalone story of my choice (doesn't include ponies or Equestria, or anything related, usually consists of anthropomorphic monsters being beautiful, sentient, and tiny powerhouses that eventually level mountains), I didn't, as it didn't work, and seeing as it was going to be pony related, why not send it here?
Celestia's senses of protection shot up like a rocket into the sky, making her freeze still and gaze into nothing. It was just astonishing. She had never been so reactive to anything like this, of this magnitude, it was....So different.
Standing from her pillow where she lay, she made her way to the balcony, and that sense got ever stronger, even as she just stood on the balcony. Her heart pounded like a giant drum, and it echoed in her head. She began to sweat from fear and then she saw it. Her gaze took up to the sky as it became alit in the night. It would have blinded her if she were not impervious to such a thing. It was as bright as the sun, shining for what was a full ten minutes, probably waking the many sleeping ponies late into the night.
Her heart began to rhythmically hasten, getting quicker and quicker until beads of sweat were rolling off of Celestia.
She had never felt this much fear...
To fear something like that is...
It's like watching a single object plow straight into the planet, blasting it apart with ease...
But it didn't.
The glow ceased, and Celestia's eyes adjusted to the new light it gave off, dim, and constant. Not flickering like a flame. It was no longer aflame, as anything would be in reentry. It must have slowed.
But it didn't seem so. Celestia began to calm a bit as she followed it's path, seeing it will hit land in the Everfree. It didn't. It curved in a perfect arc, aiming straight for canterlot mountain.
Celestia didn't hesitate, and cast a spell she had used but maybe once before. Advanced calculations and rocket science thoughts spell. It filled her eyes with what felt like probes of magic, as they were, and if anypony were to look into her eyes, they'd see eyes mechanicus.
She tracked it's new trajectory and found it crashing in a specific spot, laying out a heavy, thick shield right in it's path as soon as she had finished. The object bounced off, made another perfect arc, and crashed directly in the center of Ponyville.
She froze solid.
Her spell from before had been of no use, as she had thought, and before she could react, it had slammed directly into Ponyville. The small village which hung in the distance, who's residence would defintiely be at peril, should they near that fallen star.
"Sister!", Luna burst into Celestia's room.
Celestia's ear were ringing, even bleeding.
"Sister!", Luna called in the royal canterlot voice.
Celestia turned to her sister, and Luna spoke qucikly, without pause. Celestia could hear none of it.
The sonic boom was massive, rippling through Canterlot, ven making it to Celestia, unprotected by her magic.
She stared at Luna for a long moment, and when the dark mare paused, she spoken one word, not even hearing it in her own head.
"Fluttershy..."
Luna stared at her sister, a bit puzzled, but her eyes widened, and she cast a spell herself, frozen just like her sister a moment. When her suspicions were confirmed, via magic, she put her hooves over her mouth, and looked to her sister, sad for the thousand year mare.
Tia, I'm so sorry...
Celestia couldn't hear her, but her lip movement was easy to read.
That fallen star impacted Fluttershy's cottage dead on.
