//-------------------------------------------------------// Haylo: Equestria -by xXQw3rtyXx- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// One Planet After Another (Prolouge) //-------------------------------------------------------// One Planet After Another (Prolouge) The Changeling Beheamoth Captain; Kios, bowed down to the Hajiati of Truth. "Sir, we have located another Pony controlled planet. This seems to be a more important planet than others, noting the tenfolds of MACs around their perimeter. It is called, Equestria." Truth looked up. The wrinkly face, beady eyes, and overall long neck, it was hard to look intimating when you were a Hajiati, but Truth made it work. "Hmm.. heavily defended, you say?" Truth asked the fearful Kios, who was still in the bowing position; knees bent down, upper body to the ground, one forearm on the floor infront, and the other arm behind the back. "Rise," Hajiati ordered. Kios immediantly shot up, nearly sending the plasma gernades, attached to his belt, flying away into the corners. "Yes sir, heavily defended," Kios reported, once again. "Very well," Truth flicked his fingers, and a spiker fell into his hand. Meanwhile, some Jaspers marched across the halls, having some business with the Hajiati of Tranquility. They stormed through crowds, who fears these highest ranking, black armored Jaspers, lead by a golden one. They held plasma rifles and needlers, and even shot some other Changelings that got in their way. Blood was spilt in the halls, lots of it, ranging in different colors. Red, blue, green, purple, and even some orange. Not even the Himika dared get into their way. The Jasper in lead, the golden one by the name of Monomee; meaning one above all, carried two energy swords, none of which had their blades out yet. They arrived at the Tranquility's chamber. Monomee kicked open the door, and the 7 Jaspers spilled in, and surrounded Tranquility before he could call the guards. "Hello, is there anything you need?" but Tranquility already knew what was going to happen. "Save your voice, you will need it for court. How dare you betray us, leak information to the ponies, we should end you here!" Monomee whipped both his hands in the air, and the blades of his energy swords appeared. Tranquility noticeably flinched. "Weak pile of crap," one of the other Jaspers commented. "Because of you, the ponies had enough information to pinpoint the Hajiati of Regret, and eliminate him!" Monomee shouted. A crowd began to gather outside the chamber. The chamber was dimly lighted, with uranium purple walls. If you knocked on it, chances are it'll echo to the end of the citadel. "I'm sorry, Monomee, but I have no idea what the shit your talking about!" Tranquility sprung a spike grenade, which struck one of the Jaspers in the head, exploded, and the spikes killed the two around him, and the Jasper which got stuck. "He's armed!" Monomee noted. Monomee struck out with his energy sword, but being a Hajiati, you are very swift. Tranquility dodged to the left, grabbed Monomee's arm, and nearly stuck another spike grenade, if one of the other Jaspers hadn't kicked Tranquility in the back. Monomee noticed his time to strike, and he did so. He jumped in the air, arm still held by Tranquility, black flipped, and round house kicked Tranquility in the face. Tranquility's nose began to bleed, and while he was wiping it off, Monomee took the chance, and stabbed Tranquility in the chest with his sword. That was the end for the Senior Hajiati. Blood was spilt everywhere, and so were some organs. Monomee, and the other three surviving Jaspers left the chamber. The crowd gathered outside parted for them to pass. A Beheamoth came up to Monomee when they were trotting back. Knowing that Beheamoth's were incredibaly loyal to their authority, the Beheamoth grabbed a gravity hammer that was attached to his back, and struck out at the ground near Monomee, but he was prepared. Monomee dropped a plasma grenade right before the hammer hit the ground, and he jumped up. The gravity hammer's AOE (area of effect) caused the grenade to ignite, and the "gravity manipulation" launched the ignited grenade unto the Beheamoth's face. The Beheamoth screamed, as it tried to hoof off the grenade, but it exploded, sending blood and brain bits against the walls. "Fuck you," Monomee muttered at the remaining lower half of the Beheamoth. Truth was still talking to Kios, "You know what I do to changelings that bring me bad news?" Truth asked Kios. Kios was shaking now, not willing to answer, but did anyway, "N..n.n..noo." Truth looked down upon Kios from his pedastal. "You are week, a pathetic pile of shit, goodbye!" Truth shot Kios on the top of his skull. Not having any armor on Kios screamed, as the spikes penetrated the thick layer of bone, through his brain, and back out the other end. Blood shot out of both sides like a hose, then his head exploded from the spike's ultra heat. That was the end of Kios. Truth toggled the citadel intercom, "I'm going to need Zealots Fleets 3-9. I will also need Beheamoth Captain Riatha on one of them, preferably Zealot 4. I am also going to need 15 extra Corvette Warships in each fleet. Changelings, we are going to battle!" Truth switched off the intercom. He grabbed a screen panel from besides him, and looked through some helmet cam videos. He then saw a video titled, "Equestria" He immediantly touched that video with his finger, and it widescreened. It showed a large green planet, with oceans and peaceul meadows. Everything he hated. Then he saw that it was surrounded by Pony warships, frigates, motherships, and all that crap. Alone with 48 MAC guns orbiting the planet. Truth toggled the intercom again, "Am sorry, I'm going to need Zealot Fleets 3-18, with an extra 40 Corvette Warships for each fleet!" He switched off the intercom. Truth placed his hand over his face, despair rising. Could they lose this never-ending war with the ponies? No, no they wouldn't. They would crush the pony's puny skulls under their hoofs, and Queen Chrysalis shall be reborn, one planet after another. Author's Note This story is a tweeked version of Halo; Reach. War has torn the whole universe apart, and nothing is in safe hands, not even the most secure places in the world. I would stab changelings, shoot them, explode them, and even maybe beat them up. It wasn't hard, because all spartan ponies had augmented bodies, so they were faster, stronger, harder, bigger, and better, but we could never forget all the blood we spilt. Some, making us happy, others; tugging at our minds every second of our lives, guilty for killing one of our own kind. It wasn't everyday you had to shoot another pony. There weren't many more like me left. Only a few of us made it. Us spartans, trained since the age of six, were augmented at the age of 14. By that time, we were like brothers and sisters, fighting the same war. The ones who didn't survive the augmentation will forever be in our memories, deep inside a hole that we dug for them in our minds, while also floating around in space, where they were released. My brother, Shining Armour, serves as a sergeant above all means, the best of the best. He'd survived through many perilous occasions, some that us spartans probably couldn't have even handled. He's survived nukes, up close beheamoth's, wraiths, and even 1,400 jaspers. I admired him, so that's why I didn't relent on becoming a spartan. Because of my brother, I was the best of my class. While everyone else didn't want to become a spartan, I was the only one who was excited to get out into the field. I wasn't a normal pony. I, am Twilight Sparkle It was midnight, and the whole camp was still up. I was one of the only three spartans here, a bit overpowered, if you believe me. We were setting up defences; trenches, dirt walls, sandbags, cover, gauss cannon, machine turrets, and even a scorpian tank cannon. Today was crazy. A whole siege of changelings came without warning. Hundreds of them. The thing is, all of them were red armored jaspers. We lost 600 marines that today, and two spartans. More of my brothers, dead. I was busy setting up a gauss cannon, when JinniFoo, one of theo ther spartans, trotted up to me, helmet off. The moon really brought out the color in her dark blue mane, and her dark blue eyes, and her dark blue coat. I had just realized her whole body was dark blue. "Twilight, Colonel JackMoss ordered me to give it to you. Trust me, I have no idea what it is," JinniFoo hoofed me a folded up sheet of parchment. Parchment, weird, I havn't seen this since, ever. Before I could say thank you, Jinni was already gone. I took off my helmet, the shading on the visor kept me from clearly seeing what was written on this. I unfolded the parchment, Dear Twilight Sparkle, I am sorry if this is so sudden, but you are needed elsewhere in two days. You will leave 1730 Tuesday, like I said, two days from now. Just a heads up, don't worry, you aren't in trouble. If you are wondering where I got this piece of parchment, Celestia gave it to me. She said it had some dynamic value to it, so I suggest you keep it. -General Ishikashi Dynamic value? What the shit does that even mean? Well, orders are orders. I galloped off to pass the news to the other two spartans. "Jinni! Kaproco!" I galloped to the center of our outpost site. They were together, no surprise, they talked to eachother alot. "Yeah Twilight, what's the rush?" Kaproco asked, nonchalantly, probably trying to impress Jinni. "I'm leaving, two days, 1730 sharp," I blurted to them. Jinni's jaw dropped, while Kaproco, now positive that he is trying to impress Jinni, just leaned back and said, "Whatever." Jinni slapped him, twice. "Where are you going?" Jinni asked, exictedly. "I don't know, this letter didn't state it," I unfolded the parchment again, just to be sure, "yeah, it doesn't say." It would probably be the last time I saw them. Usually, when you are issued to be recommisioned by a general, you would never go back. That night, after we finished setting up at about 0100 in the morning, we threw a party coronating my leave. We drank, we got drunk, we did it again. It was one of the happiest moments of my life. I saw a shadowy figure in the brushes, but I ignored it. At about 0400 in the morning, I stripped my armor, and dug myself into the blankets on my bunk. Kaproco was already asleep above me. Why does he get the top bunk? He's a stallion, and he weighs more! Thinkign this, I fell asleep, and dreamed that Kaproco was so fat, he failed to run away from a Himika, and died. I shot up, and hit my horn on the bottom of Kaproco's bunk, stabbing him in the ass. He screamed, and then Jinni screamed, "WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED?!" I was about to answer, then there was an explosion. Jinni screamed again, "FUUUUUUUUUUCKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!" We got our armor on, turned on the shields, and galloped outside, MA5B Assult Rifles slinged around our necks. It was hell out here. Marines were running here and there, Colonel JackMoss in the middle, trying to calm everything down. There were bolts of plasma spawning at random places, killing people. There were changelings here! Some marines were calm and ready, with battle rifles, others were running around, getting themselves killed. "EVERYBODY FORM A CIRCLE IN THE MIDDLE," I immediantly took control. Everypony listened to me, and formed a circle in the center of the outpost. "SHOOT OUT!" I commanded. Everypony began clacking their triggers. The floodlights suddenly came on. We saw that we were surrounded by Mikos, Korts, and Jaspers, and some beheamoths. they shot us back with slashes of plasma and energy. Kaproco had a Jackhammer S12 rocket launcher and an MRSG Machine gun in both of his hands, shooting like he never shot before. Jinni was holding two sniper rifles, no scoping, depending on luck. Luck, something we had plenty of. Like Dr. Halsey said, "The spartans seem to generate their own luck." "GO! GO TWLIGHT!" Colonel JackMoss was shouting at me. I didn't know the reason. It seemed to be fine, I'm strong, then I saw it. Two scarab tanks, a bunch of wraiths, ghosts, death itself had arrived. I dropped my weapons, and ran. "I CALLED A FALCON TO PICK YOU UP!!" Colonel yelled at me. I saw the falcon, its big headlights, and double rotors. A pony was yelling at me from inside the falcon. "GO GO GO! MOVE IT SPARTAN! HUSTLE!" a pony yelled. He was manning a turret, shooting down at the chaos. I jumped, leaping for life. I landed onto the platform. I nearly fell, but luckily, that pony saved me. I got onto the platform, and lie flat down, breathing hard. "Whew! Thanks!" I said. "No problem," that pony replied. I found out that it wasn't a stallion, it was a mare. "My name is Fluttershy," she said. I looked up at her. She had her helmet off. It was a pink maned, bright yellow coated mare. Her armor was pink and cyan. She had an SR5625 Sniper strapped aroudn her shoulders. "Hit it pilot!" Fluttershy yelled. The falcon started moving, faster and faster. It felt like we were getting higher. "So where am I going?" I asked Fluttershy. "You have been reassigned to mission Equestria. Equestria is under attack by changeling armies and fleets. Nothing is safe there now. We have made a noble team of the 6 best spartans there is. You, are Noble 6." This was something I didn't expect. Something real different. "You should sleep, we'll be there by 1230." To that, I lay my head against the wall, and I fell asleep. It was dawn to dusk, a new beginning. It wasn't really a dream, more like a nightmare. I was fighting by Shining Armour's side. There was alot of Karthak. There was so much, and only two of us. We only had magnums, nothing else. Then, Shining Armour was jumped by a million of the infecting parasites. "TWILIGHT!" he screamed out his last words. I shot wildly into the pile. No use. I turned around, to find my face full of an infecting parasite. First, I was happy that my armor was there to protect me, then, I realized I had no armor on. I screamed. The Karthak seemed to be talking to me, "Twilight, Twilight!" Fluttershy shook me awake. "Twilight, we're here!" I blinked off the grogginess. I rubbed away the crust on my eyes. First thing I noticed, we weren't moving. Fluttershy had her helmet on. "Damn it Fluttershy, 5 more minutes?" I pleaded. "Aren't you a trained spartan?" Fluttershy scolded me. I got up, adjusted my armor, put on me helmet, and turned it on. The helmet's HUD lit on. I had not yet gotten used to the light, where there was alot of in the helmet. I shut my eyes quickly, careful not to hurt my eyes. It took about 10 seconds for my eyes and helmet the same adjusted to eachother. I opened my eyes. It was 0600. I only had like 4 hours of sleep. Good enough. We were in a valley, with an opening not far off. I saw a deer gallop off to the side. The falcon was landed on a heli-pad. I stepped off. My boots automatically adjusted to the rock hard cement. The suit weighed nothing to me. I flexed my muscles, stretched, and breathed the air in through my helmet vents. I followed Fluttershy to a LRV-542 standard issue Warthog. I got into the passenger seat. Fluttershy drove me for what seemed like 20 minutes. It was a silent trip. I kept thinking about Shining Armour, and how he was doing. We finally arrived at a campsite. This was literally a campsite. There was 5 large tents. That's it. We both jumped out of the Warthog, and trotted over as anothe pony spartan greeted us, "Welcome Twilight Sparkle, newest noble. My name is Rainbow Dash, I am Noble 1. Let me tell you about our team. We were formed in 2516 as a black ops spartan team. We orignally had 4 people, then we recruited Applejack in 2517 when we saw that we needed more ponies. Now you, because we are beginning to wither into a husk. Equestria is under attack, we need your help." Dash brought me into one of the tents. Another pony was here, "This is Pinkie Pie, she's our technical engineer." "Wait, Rainbow Dash, I have a message from Noble Actual!" Pinkie Pie turned around on her chair. "Play it!" Dash ordered. Pinkie pressed a button, and a holographic projection of an irregular bisided hexioctogon appeared with an eagle in the middle of it. "Hello Nobles. I see that you have Twilight Sparkle. There is no more time to break her in. A first assult has landed near New Springfield. Marine Battalion Skyfielder 352 has been eliminated. We have located a distress signal somone left. Changelings have also been spotted 3 miles west of that position. Signing off now. Good luck!" Noble Actual signed off. "Let's go!" Rainbow Dash jumped over the table, and out of the tent. "ALL NOBLES TO ARMS!" She yelled. Fluttershy grabbed her sniper, and jumped into the falcon. Applejack, im guessing the orange pony, came out of a tent with a machine gun turret. Another, white armored pony, by the name of Rarity. She had a bowie knife strapped to her chest, and a shotgun on her back. Rainbow Dash had a DMR, while Pinkie Pie grabbed two smg's and a magnum. What for me? What for me?! Dash tossed me an MA5B and a magnum. I strapped those on. "Move out!" Dash ordered. We boarded the falcons, and flew away. The sun was just coming out, while the two moons still remained on the opposite direction of the sun. I had a conversation with Dash about the best ways to keep Changeling blood off your boots. We touched down a few minutes later. "Move out!" Dash said. Many colors of armor emerged. Rainbow cyan, pink and white, white and purple, orange and red, and me; purple and pink. Fluttershy stayed in a falcon. I saw a small ripple in light a little ahead, then it dissapeared. It was a cliffside. I found the distress signal. I picked it up, and gave it to Pinkie Pie, "This was left here about 20 minutes ago, still fresh, they have to be close, or dead." There were small rock landings. We galloped away, letting the occasional, some kind of animal that looked like an emu (boa) pass. I galloped across a turn, and sprinted ahead. Rainbow Dash, however, seemed always to be ahead of me. We came up to a clearing, with a building. "Noble Actual claimed that there were ponies in here," Pinkie Pie said. I heard voices come from inside a building nearby. I gestured for the team to come closer. "Yep, they're in there," Rainbow Dash claimed. Rarity came to the door, and tried to pull it open. Without luck, she tried kicking it open, and the door broke into pieces. "Whoops," she muttered, "fuck." Two ponies came out. "Akeijsu jaie kamisaj woaland ownaf," the first one spoke like it was in a different language, which it was. "AJ, get up here," Dash parted to let Applejack come through, "Ownaf?" "Ownaf," the first pony repeated. "What the shit are they saying?" Dash impatiently asked. "Actual was right, there were marines here, and then they claim they saw some monsters; big, hairy ones," she reported. I heard a clack in the distance, and a green energy bolt hit me a couple milliseconds later. Good thing I had my shields on. The other ponies backed into the building, and the team brought up their weapons. "Scan!" Pinkie Pie took out a radar scanner. "Two at our 12, 3 at 9," she reported. I saw a Miko, and I shot it. Purple blood splattered to the ground. "Move out!" Dash ordered. It wasn't long until we saw a whole platoon of changelings. They hadn't saw us yet, and probably didn't see the Miko I shot. We peeked out the window in the building we were hiding in. Dash made a series of hoof gestures, and gestured me to stay here. Probably because I had no idea what Dash's hoof gestures ment. "Break," she whispered. Applejack and Pinkie Pie snuck off to the left, while Dash and Rarity went up the stairs next to us. I stayed, like I was ordered. Immediantly, the window in front of me was shot and broken. Instincts broke in. I leveled my MA5B, and shot the nearest Kort. Blueish blood splattered unto the next Kort's face, and he couldn't see. I shot him, too. I saw four banshees in the air, dogfighting with our falcon. Fluttershy was in there, "Fluttershy, watch it, four banshees." He didn't respond, but I heard two gunshots from the air, which echoed through the air, and the 4 banshees fell to the ground, crushing a Jasper and about 13 Korts. "Nice shot!" I cheered for Fluttershy. "Twilight, get up here!" I heard from upstairs. I jumped the entire 12 steps. "Stay here, we're going out," Dash said. They jumped through the broken window, and left me there. I found a DMR in the corner. "Hmm.." I mumbled. I tested its weight and dexterity. "Perfect!" I joyfully started shooting heads. This battle overall lasted for about 10 minutes. Too long in spartan time. "Keep moving!" Dash yelled. I saw more dropships in the distance, more changelings. I activated my armor ability; sprint. It didn't take long for us to reach the next dropship landing. It was by a river, in what looked like a circular barn. In the center of it was a plasma turret manned by a changeling. It saw me. I ducked under a rock as plasma bolts whizzed over my head. Then, everything went crazy. The falcon came down, along with a changeling dropship. I saw Fluttershy land on another falcon, and climed inside. I peeked over the corner, and raised my DMR. I popped a Jasper's head in 3 shots. The rock exploded, and I was vulnerable again. I jumped up, turned around, and started spraying and praying into the crowd. Wasn't very effective with a DMR. "Stop spraying!" Dash commanded. He was taking cover behind a wall, descievly shooting whoever wasn't looking at her. I tossed a frag into the center, which was reluctantly threw back at me. I batted it away with my gun, and it exploded near Fluttershy, "Watch it Twilight!" With no cover, I had nothing to do, but crouch, take aim, and fire. The ear numbing explosions coming from the barrel of my gun was muffled by my helmet. I shot the last Kort, and everything was silent. "Another dropship west of here, 2 miles," Pinkie reported. There was no way to cover that two miles in time. "Get to those trucks!" Dash was the first to reach a truck in the distance. I didn't even notice them. There were two, semi-pickup trucks, orange and blue. I jumped into the driver of the blue one, where Dash was sitting in the passenger. The truck rocked a little as the heavily armored Applejack boarded the pick up platform of the truck, and attached her machine gun turret to a handle bar right behind me. "Go go go!" Dash barked. I pushed the throttle to max, and we drove away, as Rarity and Pinkie boarded a falcon to go, somewhere. I ran over an emu thing, and Dash insulted my driving. I turned a corner, drove past a large rock, and I saw the next destination. It was an irrigation center, with a moat. It was basiclly just a round building. They hadn't noticed us yet, until a sniper shot sounded, and two of the Jaspers took a bullet to the brain. Purple blood already was littering the floor when we got there. "Meth llik!" another Jasper yelled. With no time to raise a weapon or look for cover, I tackled the Jasper and struck his face with my gun. His skull crushed under my strength, and I saw the blood gush out of the top of his helmet. I rolled onto my back, just in time to see a Kort attempting to stick a grenade onto me. I shot him with in the face, and his entire head came off, spraying me with blood. Well, I guess that's not the best way to keep blood of your boots. "Guys, we are recieving a live distress call from across the mountains," Fluttershy reported. Two falcons landed near us, and we boarded it. "ETA 1 minute," the pilot said. I rested while Dash checked his guns. It was hell over here. Rarity and Pinkie were already here. They were fighting hard, ducking plasma grenades, narrowly avoiding bolts of energy. The falcon silently landed behind the changelings, and we weren't noticed. "Frags out," Dash whispered. The three of us threw frag grenades into the hellish mob of changelings. They screamed, and about 80% of them all were immediantly killed. Fluttershy took care of the rest. "What's our situation?" Dash asked Pinkie Pie. "This place seems to power the shielding that protects a large part of this planet. It has been overrun, and we need to take out the changelings inside, but we can't do that if we were to be followed by these ones," Pinkie reported. The 5 of us regrouped inside the building, opposite of where we landed. I found ammo for my weapons, and reloaded them. "Its not over yet," Fluttershy stated over the helmet coms. A few more dropships landed, dropping Jaspers, Mikos, and Korts. A bolt of energy rushed past my face, and splashed against the wall behind me. I started shooting. My crosshair came to rest on a Jasper. I took 3 shots, and his face no longer existed. My helmets auto lock system adjusted my view to automatically come to the next enemy. This made it easy for me to go on a headshot streak, as I took 3 or 4 Korts at a time. One Kort, who I accidentally shot in the tank they need to breathe from, launched itself because of the airflow coming from that tank. It flew into our building, and exploded, sending me against a wall. None of the other Nobles responded, probably because this happens to them everyday. "Get this door closed!" Dash yelled at Pinkie, not noticing that she was already working on it. "Almost there!" Pinkie exclaimed. The metal door began to cloes from the sides, very, very slowly, and a single Jasper had enough time to send a plasma grenade inside, before the door closed shut. "Get down!" Dash yelled. We all hit the floor as the grenade exploded, not very dangerous because it had a low blast radius. We were in a room, a small one. There was a pony across the room with no head, slumped against another door with blood splatters on it. Applejack pulled it open. It looked like a basement to a fast food restaurant. Pipes, wires, all that shit. There was a small filly in the corner. "Kasien marke, opela eke!" she screamed. She was leaning over somepony, a dead pony. "Kawu naje loafe?" Applejack asked. The filly nodded. "Its her father," Applejack told us. Suddenly, a grate above our heads broke open, and two Jaspers came in. They shot the filly, and another one tackled me to the ground. It opened its jaws at me, exposing the ugly inside mouth of a changeling. It took out an energy blade, and would've stabbed me, if Rarity didn't pull if off, and shot it in the face with her magnum. "Thanks," I said. She nodded. The other Jasper escaped through another door. "Applejack, Twilight, follow him, see where he leads you! Pinkie and I need to handle this busted electricity panel, Rarity, Fluttershy is in need of your assistance!" Dash ordered. I got up, grabbed a gun, and followed Applejack out the door the Jasper went through. It was dark, so I turned on my night vision. Everything was green. I saw the Jasper running away. I sprinted after him, to be immediantly stopped by a small force. I shot them down, a Jasper and 3 Korts. "Bitches," I muttered. I galloped full speed to a corridor where the Jasper went through. There were a bunch of Korts in the way. I spawned a grenade, and Kort body parts flew my direction. I galloped through the corridor, to the other side. Now this was really an electricity room. Wires spanned the floor and cieling, and a bunch of metal boxes were on the ground. There was a lot of changelings here. I ducked behind a box. I took my aim, 3 shots, and the nearest Jasper was down. Another 4 shots, and 4 dead Korts fell to the ground. Applejack remained out of cover, giving them hell with her machine gun. "Go, turn the shielding back on!" she said to me. I jumped up, and galloped through the distracted changelings. I came to the room with the switch, and backed up immediantly as a red armored Jasper nearly slashed my face off with an energy sword. I galloped backwards as it came toward me. I found a shotgun on a floor, a dead pony next it, I cocked the shotgun, pointed it at the Jasper's chest, and pulled the trigger when it was close enough. It was launched backwards, its own energy shields fading, and it died. I came back to the switch, pressed it, and the whole room lit up. I quickly turned off my night vision, hoping not to get blinded. I saw that every changeling was dead. AJ was standing upon them, panting,"Wowee, was that a tough crowd!" We sprinted back, and saw the Dash and Pinkie had just finished fixing the panel. "You got it?" Dash asked. We nodded. "We are requested at ONI base," Dash told us. We got into the falcons, and it wasn't a long ride until I saw the giant ONI base. I guess it's time to reloop, restart, play. It was gorgeous. Silver mounted steel, high buildings, that acropolis beauty. Too bad that it was crawling with hundreds of changelings. I was trotting up the ramp that lead to the courtyard of the base. Pinkie Pie besides me. I zoomed in on my DMR, and sniped the first couple of Korts that poked there heads out. When I thought we were needed here, I didn't think they ment that we were under attack. Pinkie Pie short bursted the next couple of grunts. We galloped up the ramp together, into the courtyard. It was madness here. I went up the stairs to my left. The clearing on the second floor made a perfect sniping spot, and there happened to be a sniper here. I picked it up, mounted it, and shot 3 Jaspers. A plasma grenade flew at me. I threw a frag into the plasma, and both grenades were sent back. They landed near some fusion coils (highly explosive chemical containers) that were loaded on a trolley. The grenades exploded, the coils exploded, the trolley exploded. This ended the chaneglings in the courtyard, very, VERY quickly. I galloped down with Pinkie, wondering where the other Nobles were. There were ordnaces here. I got ammo for my DMR and Sniper, and pocketed an ASD12 (Air Strike Designator). We were facing a garage like door. It opened, and Jaspers spilled out. I hid behind some deployable cover, and I saw my chance. A rounded rock, a block of metal, and another fusion coil. I shot the rock on the side at the perfect angle, with my sniper. The bullet richocheted onto the block of metal, then it headshotted 2 Jaspers, and hit the coil, which killed 3 more. Unfortunatly, Pinkie was caught in the blast. "Fuck!" I yelled. "You alright Pinkie?" I asked. She got up, nodded, and galloped right on. The garage doors, surprisingly, lead into a garage like room. There was another set of garage doors on the other side, which opened. This lead to more madness. There two wraith firing. A blast nearly hit me, but I dogged to the left, and backflipped before a rock fragment pounded me in the small of my back, worst part. There were marines out here, who all died. I didn't see a better time to use my ASD than this. I locked onto the nearest wraith, who happened to be right next to the other one. I watched, laughing as missles flew down and obliberated them. A couple of ghosts rounded the corner off to the side. I sniped one, but the other one ran me over. I got up, everything was spinning. I managed to board the other ghost, though. Pinkie Pie got into a warthog, with a marine on the turret. "Twilight, coms have been knocked out, and commandeered. We need you to take them back, and turn them on. Sending you a nav marker, now!" Dash came over the helmet com. A Nav point appeared on my visor. "Alright Pinkie! Follow me!" I drove this ghost to the nav marker. It was located in a valley. They hadn't seen me yet. I parked the ghost behind a large rock, and got off. Pinkie Pie, however, stormed into the middle of the nav point. I looked up. It looked like a summer camp. The buildings were made of wood, with wires spanning in between them. There were two buldings, and a small opening in the middle, probably for gatherings. It didn't look military, more like a worn out playground. I saw the two coms I needed to turn on. A revenant appeared from nowhere, and shot the warthog. I watched as it was launched over the air. The marine died, but Pinkie jumped out, and landed on 4 hooves. The revenant had a passenger, but he wasn't important. I sniped the driver, and blood spilt over the passenger's eyes. Since they were both Jaspers, the passenger couldn't get his arms dislodged from below the other one, and immediantly crashed into a rock, and died. I brust up from behind the rock, and shot another Jasper, who's shields weren't up, in the face, and 3 more Korts. I galloped up the staircase of the nearest wooden construction. I reached the top floor, where I was shot with a beam rifle. My shields immediantly went down. I hid back downstairs, and let my shields recharge. Once they did, I threw a grenade up there, and the Miko that shot me flew down here, with no limbs. I jumped back up the stairs, and turned the com on, just in time to see Pinkie turn the other one on. "Alright Dash, we got both the coms on, now what?" I asked. "There's been a sighting of corvettes over us, and these are corvette warships. We need you to re-activate our anti-aircraft system. Sending nav marker, now!" Dash answered. The nav marker appeared on my visor. The location was right over the hill of this valley. "Let's go Pinkie!" I shouted. Turns out, the revenant was still good. I got in, and Pinkie took my ghost. We drove, turned once around the valley, and appeared near the cliffsides. They saw us this time. A fuel rod node came barreling toward me. I strafed the revenant to the left, and shot a single bolt into hell. I saw bodies fly up, and hit the ground, but that's not where the fuel rod came from. I jumped out right in time, before the revenant exploded. I looked around, and saw it. It was a field marshall Jasper, the highest armor ranking. It was guarding the anti-air system. They were on the roof of a building. My armor ability didn't have sprint, I had armor lock. I galloped to the staircase of that building, and climbed up, and activated armor lock right when I reached the top. Good thing too, the Jasper shot a whole clip of fuel rod at me. Right when he was reloading, I drop kicked him off the roof, and activated the anti-air system. I watched as it automatically aimed at the corvette, and it shot dozens of rockets at it. The corvette exploded, and was dropping down to the ground. "Yes!" I exclaimed, joyed that the changeling warship was down. "Good job Twilight. There have been a mass amount of changeling forces spotted near your position, and going to your position. We are dropping off a scorpian for you. Out," Dash said. A scorpian tank? I've only driven that once. I was excited. Like she said, a scorpian tank dropped, and I boarded it, Pinkie in the turret seat. I saw the mass amount of forces show up as red dots on my motion sensors. I saw them first hand now. I shot the tank cannon into a group of ghosts speeding toward us. The first few exploded, and Pinkie shot the drivers off the other two. "Twilight, we need you back at base, NOW!" Dash commanded, then there was static. I knew something was wrong. I drove this tank full speed back to base. When we got there, we went back up the same garage thing. There were more Jaspers now, zealot class, not good. I shot them down, but three got away. I saw Dash, now. "Do not pursue, I repeat, do not pursue!" "What's happening?" I asked Dash. "There's a breach on the roof, phantoms are trying to board from there, we need to patch it up, c'mon!" Dash galloped to a big double door in the courtyard. This led inside the base. It opened, and a marine flew out, and banged his skull into a fusion coil, which exploded, engulfing him in flame. "Himikas! DUCK AND COVER!!" Rarity yelled. A green lash of energy emerged from inside. I ducked, putting my hooves over my head. After it dispersed, I galloped inside, armor locking when necassary. I got close to the Himika, stabbed the barrel of my sniper into its exposed flesh, and pulled the trigger. Orange blood spilt out both ends of where I shot, and the Himika fell to the ground. I heard a bellowing behind me, and jumped just in time as the Himika's bond nearly killed me. I shot this on in the back, too, and it fell on top of its brother. I entered a corridor, which opened into a large room, that kind of room with a single staircase that swirls around the walls and seems like it goes on forever (imagine King Sombra's staircase tower thing, and then imagine the staircases going in squares instead of circles, and that each staircase was enclosed by a wall). I started climbing, shooting whatever moved. My mission was to find a breach at the top floor, but I didn't see any. Then I reached the roof, and I saw it. A whole room, 2 walls were missing. The walls that were still here were black from burning, and the edges were on fire. There was another corvette here, and phantoms and banshees attacked from nowhere. I grabbed a rocket launcher from the side. I thanked god that this had auto targeting, and pulled the trigger twice, and 2 banshees exploded. I focused my fire on the phantoms, now. Each one exploding after the other. I took a minute to notice a scarab tank walking across the horizon, very, very far away. After about a minute, everything was calm. Applejack came up to me, "Nice aiming thar, slick." Dash came on over the helmet com, "5, 6, now!" We walked downstairs, and stumbled apon a group of 3 black armored Zealots. They looked at us, and ran. We were about to chase them, and then Dash came back on, "Where are you? I said now! Dr. Halsey demands our prescense!" When I heard Halsey, I galloped as fast as I could downstairs. Dr. Halsey was behind a shield wall, talking to Dash. "It's been too long, AJ, Twilight, haven't seen you in awhile," Dr. Halsey said. She had a white mane, and a tannish coat. Her cutie mark showed a spartan pony on it, her specialty. We've all been training with her for, what, all of our lives? Dash and Halsey had a heated conversation, "What the hell do you think they were after?" "The possibility that they were here, they were after this ONI Base's secret excurstions of information, and you let them get away?" Halsey scolded. "I had specificlly commanded them not to puruse for their own safety, Zealots are powerful," Dash rebounded. "Forget them, they're strong enough, they could've taken them out. Now because of your team selfish act, the whole pony race has to suffer!" Halsey repented. "Nobles, let's go," Dash commanded, no longer wanting to listen to Halsey. I took my helmet off, letting my face breathe a little. "Can someone tell me what the fuck is going on?" I asked them. "Zealots, they infiltrated out system, and they left with something. This is classified, sorry, I guess you'll know it when you know it." I was on falcon with Fluttershy. Our mission was to infiltrate a changeling establishement. We're looking for Zealots that escaped at ONI Base. They contain information too valuable for anypony, no, anyTHING, to know. We were dropped off someways away from the nearest changeling. We scaled a rocky cliff, and arrived at a clearing. There were Jaspers here. "I'll take the one on the left, you take the right," Fluttershy whispered. We jumped down, silently trotted to our Jasper. I jumped on mine's back, stabbed a knife into his neck, and watched as blood spilt. Fluttershy, even a better professianl at silence, simply just pushed her's off the cliff. Jaspers lacked the necassary vocal alignment to scream. We trotted up behind rocks, to a two story building crawling with changelings. We both had snipers, but they were loud. Ehh, what the fuck. We both took our aim, and shot the two Jaspers on the rooftops. Now everyone knew we were here. I hid behind a rock as a Kort fired a charged plasma pistol shot at me. I came out, from behind, and shot that Kort. The bullet pierced and cut off the shields of a Jasper behind it. It raged, and began randomly chucking plasma grenades at our direction. That Jasper even ripped some grenades off a Kort, right next to it. I gallopd down a slope, and was immediantly greeted with a face full of hoof. The night vision on my visors blacked out for a second, and came back just in time to see a Jasper get shot in the face. I sprinted past it. I came to the center clearing surrounded by the circular building. Looking around, I noted that nopony was here. We hadn't killed them all, yet. A commanded retreat by a cowardice leader? Probably. Fluttershy and I sprinted into a short canyone. A Miko jumped me. I was tackled to the ground, and the Miko punched the back of my helmet once. I heard its knuckles crack and break, and the Miko jumped up, screaming. I backflipped, dogtailed it, and pounded its chest with the back of my sniper, making it vomit purple blood. We came to the end of the canyone, where there was a small clearing. I heard gunshots, energy weapons. I saw blue and green bolts of plasma, and pink needles flying through the air at something. I adjusted my night vision, and I saw it. A giant monster, about eight times the height of me, was punching and pounding the changelings below it. It had a head like a Beheamoth, and a muscular body. It had horns, like a mammoth, and it was bald and hairless. Obviously the changelings weren't going to kill it. I took my aim at the thing's head, but Fluttershy was ahead of me, and shot its face first. I pulled the trigger right before it got out of my crosshair. The thing didn't die. It came barreling toward us, waving its monsterous fists in the air. It got closer, and closer, and then I shot it in the face again, it screamed, and died. Unfortunetly, neither of us noticed the second one closing in on us. We both got launched in the air, and landed on our backs. I grabbed the nearest thing I could find; a rock, and chucked it at the monster. It bellowed, and died, neon green blood spurting from its temples. "Lucky shot," Fluttershy said. If she didn't have her helmet on, I could swear she was smirking. We galloped across the clearing, looking at the grusome scene. Blood was spilt everywhere, of many shades of different colors. I thought it was real pretty. We arrived at the other side of the clearing, into another canyon. I felt that we were being, watched. "Hey Fluttershy? Do you ever get the feeling that we're being watched?" I asked. "I always feel that way," she responded. The canyon widened, and it opened. There was another building, with floodlights. I switched off my night vision. A Miko was standing on the roof with a beam rifle. I was low on ammo with my sniper, so if I could just get that beam rifle! I shot it, and the Miko fell forward. I hid behind the rock, and a Jasper was right there, holding an energy sword right in front of me. "WHAT THE FUCK!?" I yelled. Fluttershy took action quickly. She clean sweeped the Jasper's foot, and shot it in the stomach. "Thanks," I told her. I pocketed the energy sword, and galloped across dead grass to get to the beam rifle. I shot my last bit of sniper ammo at remaining Korts or Jaspers, and swapped it for the beam rifle. I weighed it in my hoofs, perfect. Fluttershy and I eliminated what was left in the building. We trotted inside it. Our destination was on the other side of this building. The inside was splattered with the bronze blood of pegasi. Fluttershy didn't look down, or so I thougt she didn't. We came to a pegasus with no head. I took his dog tags, and shoved it down my pocket. There was a clang. I turned around, and saw that two Himika had broken in through a door. "SHIT!" I screamed. I hope this beam rifle can pierce heavy armor. I shot the Himika with it, and ducked as the beam rifle rebounded, and richocheted around the room. It actually ended up killing the Himika. Its brother screamed a war cry, and charged toward me, shield up. I jumped, stepped off its head, back flipped behind it, and shoved a plasma grenade deep into its armor. I instinctevly covered my face as neon orange blood splatterd the walls and me. The door where it busted in through lead to yet another building. It was constructed on top of a small pond. I guess this used to be a lake, because it was located in the center of a shallow valley. I galloped down the hill, and saw that marines were in this building. "Who's your CO? (Commanding Officer)" I asked the closest marine. He pointed to a pegasus with medium-light armor. I galloped over to him, "Whats the situation?" He was a buff stallion, with a bright yellow mane. The color of his coat was indistinguishable, "We were sent to look for 3 Zealot class changelings, who were said to have secret information. We got caught here, and they've been sending dropships for awhile now." "Why don't you just leave?" I asked him. No seriously, they could've just left in between waves. "Well, they have some Himikas guarding the left valley entrace, where we need to go, so we're just holding out here, waiting for some promised reinforcements, are you it?" The CO squandered out the last 3 words, probably hoping that Flutters and I were the reinforcments. "I guess," I nonchalantly spoke. He noticably hid a squeal of delight. Just at that moment, I felt the blast of a concussion rifle hit my back. I turned around, and saw that a phantom had landed, and was shooting me. Knowing the danger of a concussion rifle, I took cover underneath a ridge. The small building establishment was elevated about 10 feet above the water. The moat-like ring of water was surrounded on one side by the 10 foot cylindrical wall, and a medium-steep slope on the other side. I hid behind the slope, and peeked out. Jaspers were piling out of the phantom. I took aim on one, shot it, and watched it go down in a spray of blood. That was a bad choice. The muzzle flash of a beam rifle was particulary noticable. Three of the Jaspers came towards me. They were wearing hunter class armor, so they must have had either active camo, or jetpacks, or hopefully not; both. Turns out it was a mix. Two of the Jaspers flew into the air, and landed behind me. I elbowed one of them, and dodged to the left with a 360 sidescrew as the other one struck out. I backhanded it, and sidekicked it into the wall. The other one got back up. I was about to punch it, when I was hit in the back by the third, camoflauged Jasper. I did a front flip, knock the camo Jasper backwards, and landing my feet on top of the other Jaspers head. I shot a beam rifle at the downed Jasper, and it sprayed blood at the other Jaspers face. I could clearly see the camo Jasper now, as it walked around with a splat of blood on it. I side kicked the Jasper, uppercutted, and jabbed its kidney. It bellowed, and died. One of the marines fell over the side, missing a limb. "Shit! What's going on up there, Flutters!" I jumped on a small ledge about 3 feet off the ground, and climbed back onto the building establishment. It was chaos here. I saw Fluttershy, hiding behind a doorway in one of the buildings, decisevly picking her targets. I trotted through the scene, slashing anything that came near me with the energy sword I picked up. "Twlight, ordnance in here!" Flutters motioned me toward her position. I narrowly avoided being hit by a barrage of needles, and sprinted toward Fluttershy's position. I came to her, and went inside the building. It turned out, there really was ordnance here. I grabbed a DMR to replace my depleted beam rifle, pocketed two magnums, and slung a shotgun. I climbed a ladder to the roof, to find that all the changelings had already been killed. "Are you fucking kidding me?" I jumped off the building, and a green lash of superplasma energy raced past me. "Shit!" I yelled, as the ultra-heat singed my energy shields bringing them down a little. I took aim at the area where that bolt came from. Two Himikas were shooting us. I looked around, and realized the other marines had already been killed. I found the head of the CO to prove it. I got hit with the Himika's plasma mortar thing when I wasn't paying attention. I was launched in the air, desperately flailing my arms, and I landed on my back. The shields broke my fall, but my spine still felt the blunt of it. My DMR landed a few feet away from me. I kicked the DMR into the air, and caught it. Another lash of plasma nearly hit me again. I took aim at a Himika, still on my back, and pulled the trigger. The sound of gunfire blasted through the air, as the bullet merely pinged off the Himika's heavy shield. Then, it exploded. I saw Fluttershy using a JackHammer 528 Rocket Launcher. It wasn't like her to use heavy weaponry. While the Himikas were distracted, I hopped across the roof, and landed behind them, silently. I jumped on one, kicked its back, and made it lurch onto its brother, toppling both of them. I hopped off at the exact right moment, and stuck a plasma grenade up one of the Himika's back. I ducked as neon orange splatters of blood encased both his brother, and myself. Unable to get up with a dead Himika on it, I shoved the trigger up the other, live Himika's helmet casement, and shot it. It grunted, and died. "Twilight, Fluttershy, did you catch them yet?" Dash came over the com. "No ma'am, working on it," I replied, "c'mon Flutters, we got a mission!" We sprinted to a giant gate, which automatically opened for us. We stormed inside, just to be caught under a hail of plasma bolts. It was an incline, with rocks peaking out here and there. I took cover behind one particularly large rock. I felt the bolts of ultra-heat peeling away at the surface of rock on the other side. I backspinned around the rock, and shot down the Kort on one of the plasma turrets, while Fluttershy took out the other. We moved on. A Jasper came completely out of nowhere, and would have killed me if I didn't have my shields on. It's carbine shot me 4 times, and my energy shields faded. I took cover behind a rock, knowing that this was a Field Marshall Jasper. It had the highest class armor and shield strength. I came out from behind the rock when my shields recharged. I had both of my magnums equipped, and aimed at the Jasper's head. Rapidly shooting the Jasper, Fluttershy sneaked up behind it, jumped on it, and twisted its neck. I gave her a thumbs up. We reached the top of the incline, and peaked over the end of it. I saw a hoof in front of my face. I looked up, and saw a Jasper looking down on us. It cocked its head, and then its plasma rifle. I rolled to the left as the grass where I was burned to a crisp. I kicked the Jasper's leg, and it tumbled down the incline about half-way, got back up, and shot me. The plasma burned away at my shields, just a little. Three shots to the head with my DMR, and it was down. Fluttershy was shooting the other way. I spun around, and began shooting with her. Blood sprayed everywhere as Fluttershy and I, the exact definition of hell, rolled through the changeling camp. Then they came out, the three Zealot class Jaspers. The leader had dual wield energy swords, another one had a concussion rifle, and the last one had dual plasma rifles. I crouched as a concussion rifle bolt whizzed over my head. I stood back up, and found myself being pursued by the leader Jasper. I backflipped over it as it attempted to stab me, and I shot its head. The shield of the Jasper merely blinked. It turned around, lashing out at me with its energy blades. I attempted to block a lash with my gun, but the blade just cut it in half. I took out my shotgun. As it attempted to lash me, I pounded the shotgun barrel into the Jasper's chest, and pulled the trigger. The Jasper's shields didn't even fade. I shot it again; the shields were low now. I shot it once more before it pulled away. Now the shields were gone. It lashed at me again. I dogtailed it, and punched the Jasper in the face. This crushed the helmet. I kneed it in the chest, and as it was doubling over, I elbowed its arched back, and it fell to the ground. I shot it with my shotgun to make sure it was dead. The Jasper screamed, and purple blood sprayed everywhere. I looked up, and saw that Fluttershy had already killed the other two. "Now to find that top secret info," I said. Fluttershy and I rummaged through their campsite, until we found the blue chip thing that contained all our info. Hoping they hadn't read it yet, the falcon that Fluttershy called for to pick us up, arrived. We hopped on, and I handed the chip to Fluttershy, knowing she'll keep it safe. My dreams were getting worse. It was a lonely night in my dream, nopony but me. I saw Dr. Halsey, smiling at me. Then the smile faded. A dark figure moved behind her. My instincts kicked in, and I jumped in front of her, protecting her. I saw a gun nearby. I galloped over, and tried to pick it up, but I couldn't, it was too heavy. I suddenly realized I was a little 5 year old filly again, no armor, no strength, I was a weak filly. The dark figure growled at me, I growled back, and everything faded. I was still on the falcon, bits of trash around me, frequently blowing out the sides of the falcon. I had forgotten to throw away my food trash. I rolled over, nearly fell off the side, and screamed. We were like 300 feet in the air, over a dry canyon. "Where are we?" I asked. Pinkie Pie looked at me from her seat, "The changelings have built something big. They call it, a Spire. It generates a giant protective shield. We are going to eliminate it, and find out what they're trying to hide. We're also taking out a couple of anti air batteries they set up." That pretty much summed it all up. We were dropped off at a cliff side, like a parking garage that was missing half of the ground around it. It was a shallow incline uphill, to where there was a right turn to the other side of the canyon, but we had to get past a heavy changeling defense first. There were a shades, both fuel rod and plasma cannon, a floating platform for snipers, and a bunch of other things. We were driving up on a warthog. "Get out!" Pinkie yelled. I hopped off right in time. The warthog exploded as a banshee launched a fuel rod at it. It landed in the perfect position for cover. Pinkie and I hid behind it. My purple armor was already singed with some black. I looked up over the warthog. I had a EMP Grenade launcher and a DMR. The banshee circled around. I put my back against the warthog, and shot the banshee with the grenade launcher. Knowing that the grenade only detonates when you let go of the trigger, I let the EMP 'nade fly near the banshee, and I let loose. The grenade exploded, and the banshee fell. I galloped down, and caught the banshee's wing right before it fell off the cliff. I pulled it up, opened the cockpit, and shot the Jasper inside. It died in a spray of blood. I shoved him out, and wiped the blood off the screens. I closed the cockpit, and got used to the controls. "So this is the throttle, and this is the weapons, okay!" I muttered, and lifted off. I used the fuel rod cannon on a group of a dozen grunts, and shot down the fuel rod shade. The Miko on the the floating platform was easily ended with my plasma cannons, and I ran over a Jasper, breaking the wing a little. The other shade began firing at me. I got to a high altitude, back flipped, and nose dived at the shade, dropping fuel rod bombs and firing my plasma cannons while doing so. This ended any living changeling around it. Right before I hit the shade, I pulled up, dropped a fuel rod bomb, and watched it explode. There was a beeping sound. The banshee had already run out of fuel. I jumped off once I got near the ground, and took a minute to take in the carnage. Nothing moved, except a scorpion that was crawling over a rock. The canyon was relatively dry. A warthog came from behind the bend, "Somepony need a lift?" Pinkie Pie took the passenger seat, while I boarded the gunner seat. This was a LRG523 Standard Gauss Rifle Warthog. It was armed with a 80 mm 300 caliber Gauss Cannon, instead of the normal machine gun turret. The marine driver put the pedal to the metal, and we rolled away. The path to the Spire was littered with changelings here and there, easily enough eliminated. We arrived in one area, where it was also heavily defended. The marine driver was shot down, sad enough. A revenant appeared from behind a large rock. Pinkie and I jumped out. The revenant blast sent the warthog over the side of the cliff. It tried to charge me, but I boarded it. I kicked out the driver, and punched the passenger. I now had control over the revenant. Pinkie got into the passenger seat, and we brought hell to the changelings. After that short battle, we traveled forward until it was no longer a cliff side, but a narrow canyon. I ran over a Kort, and the revenant nearly flipped over. The canyone opened up to yet another cliff side, but this one was safer. I drove the revenant across a metal bridge, and onto a safe cliff side, where the ground was very wide. There was an anti air battery here. It was placed on a small plateau, and a small path lead up to it. Jaspers, Korts, and ghosts came down that path. The Jaspers and Korts were easy enough, but the ghosts were faster. One of the ghosts drove itself off a cliff, while the other, I shot it, and it flipped over onto another Jasper, which killed it. More changelings came down the hill, but this time, they were accompanied by two Himikas. In a vehicle, Himikas weren't that difficult, so they were easy to end. I bulldozed the rest of the changelings. I was about to get up, and trot up the narrow pathway, but another revenant came around the bend of the plateau. I rammed me, and I flipped over. Losing my balance, I nearly fell off the side of the cliff with the revenant, but I regained composure quick enough. Pinkie, though, was already shooting down the other revenant. I galloped over to her, and supported. Together, it wasn't hard to bring the revenant down. We both galloped up the hill. The anti air battery was accessible from the inside. A Field Marshall Jasper came out from inside, with a concussion rifle. I took cover as small explosions rocked the ground. I peeked up from behind a rock to see that the Jasper was standing right in front of me. It kicked dirt in my visor, which the helmet immediately wiped away. I side kicked it, upper-cut, and kneed the Jasper, bringing down the shields, and I killed it with my grenade launcher. Pinkie Pie was already inside the anti air battery, and she sprinted out, took cover behind a rock, as so did I, and watched as the anti air battery exploded in mix of blue plasma, and red fire. I high-hoofed her. A falcon appeared out from behind the canyon walls. I took a minute to take in the surroundings. We were standing on a small plateau, with canyon walls surrounding us on 3 sides, a cliff on the other. It was serene, just absolutely beautiful. I just hope that we can defend it long enough for it to be put on a postcard. I took a picture of my old friends, a postcard on the top corner. The falcon touched down near us, Dash, Applejack, Rarity, and Flutters inside. Another falcon landed behind us. Dash immediately jumped into orders, "Jack, Rare, your with Twilight on the other falcon. Pinkie, get over here." We all rushed to our positions. The falcon I was riding in was modded with the latest explosive technology. Instead of machine guns, it was rocket pods. It was hoof-made to fit the perfection of spartan. Curvy handle, heavy base, all the things that I could use to kill more changelings. The falcon lifted up. Apparently we were headed to the Spire, our main mission. We flew through the canyon, shooting whatever was on the sides. Wraiths exploded, blood flew everywhere, all the while, I didn't see any of it. The 800 foot drop below my feet leveled until we were safely on the canyon top now. We were about to land, when an explosion occurred, rocked the falcon, there was smoke, then everything was black. My vision returned. My hoof was dug deep into a pile charred gravel. I stood up, head throbbing. The falcon was in flames in front of me, ordnance dropped. I grabbed a jetpack, and strapped it on my tail. My tail armor was broken, but the jetpack still fit. The little red button was blinking right where I could reach it. I pressed the button. A burst of heat stroke though my body, and smoke eclipsed from the source of heat. The jetpack spurt out some gas, and I was in the air. Standard issue V-77 jetpacks, small fire at a focused range, allows more air to come through at a fast speed, ultimately lifting somepony in the air. The terrain was rocky. Boulders scattered everywhere, eroded arches, and changeling dynamics everywhere. Up ahead was the spire. It rose tall, I could barely see the tip. Energy was emanating from the tip, and made a dome around it. Admiring the giant changeling establishment, I wasn't paying attention to the battlefield, and was shot down by a focus rifle. The jet pack made some beeping noises, and restarted. Back in the air, I saw that Mikos were everywhere, being shot down by either Applejack, or Fluttershy. Dash, Rarity, and Pinkie were charging to the outer wall of the spire. I shot a Jasper galloping toward them, and the jetpack ran out of fuel. I fell a couple feet, rolled, and got back up. I galloped toward their position. I jumped over a rock, and saw that they were trying to break down the shield with their weapons. It wasn't working. I looked around, searching for any better way to do this. "Augh!!" I screamed as a missile hit my back, and I basically exploded. Dazed, I looked up from the not-so-comforting, yet surprisingly soft dirt. There, right in front of me, was a large battery like object with energy flowing through a pipe toward the spire. The shield around the spire seemed to let infantry in, but not vehicles. Destroying this battery could give us a big advantage in battle, considering the 12 scorpion tanks behind me. The shield suddenly broke down. The energy faded back into the tip of the spire, and I could clearly see now. The spire was just that, a spire. There was a platform near the top, and a small base. It was about 200 meters tall, and anything would die if fell from the top. Changelings littered the spire, shooting at anything that moved. I couldn't get up from my position, or I would've been burned, sizzled, fleshed, and dead. "Twilight, get out here now!" Dash ordered. That's it, I jumped up, narrowly dodged a fuel rod, and stabbed a Kort that was trotting up to me. I galloped forward, aiming to get to the base of the spire. "Twilight, your gonna have to take this out by yourself, we're pinned down," Dash said. Getting to the base wasn't hard, getting to the top of the spire was. I had no idea where to go. Inside the base was the equivalent to a labyrinth. I would turn, and be tackled by a Jasper, I would turn again, and fall 20 feet. I finally reached a sign, that my helmet translator recognized as "grav lift". I turned the sharp corner, and an energy sword wizzed past my visor. Heart racing, I grabbed the leg that swung out at me, bent it backwards, sharply twisted the elbow joint, and the arm fell off in a *clack*. Purple blood sprayed me, as the Jasper screamed, fell to the ground, and bled out. What surprised me was, it was a Zealot. Zealots where supposed to be powerful, spec-op forces of the changelings, yet this one fell so easily. In the center of the room from which it came, was a grav lift, like expected. I galloped into it, and was launched into the sky. A couple seconds later, I shot out the top. My difference in weight from the Jaspers caused me to launch higher, into a arched pillar, and my shields collapsed. I launched about 50 feet from the landing platform, and was looking for anything to grab onto, or for my shields to recharge. Failing to get my hoof to hook anything, I prayed for a soft landing. My prayer relinquished, and I fell onto a group of Korts. I didn't know whether to be pleased, or angry at the gods. Apparently, I crushed one of their skulls, and the others primed plasma grenades. Surrounded and nowhere to go, I did the only thing sensible. Armor lock. I had picked it up before I came up into the top of the spire. I let my armor's joints and knotches relax, and the invulnerable energy shield deployed around my body. Gentle thuds nudged me as the grenades bounced off me, and back onto the Korts. I let go of armor lock after I was sure the Korts had exploded. I wasn't sure about the status of the others, and at this point, I really didn't care. My objective was to find a control panel, and destroy the spire. The grav lift landing platform was that in the center of a dome with a hole in the top. I looked around, noting a couple of doorways, one which was blocked by plasma cores. I shot the plasma core, let it explode, and galloped into the other door. Turns out, they led to the same room. No one was here. "Too easy," I thought. I scanned the room, overlooking the battle below. I thought I saw a ripple in the air, but I passed it as a figment of my imagination. I came up to a panel. My helmet immediately got to work, and found the button that said, "Self Destruct", when I was lurched backwards, and slammed into the wall. My shields went down half. I spun around, DMR in hand, I shot out, and successfully hit my attacker. It's active camouflage malfunctioned, and I kneed it in the chest, and bucked its side into the window, which it tumbled out of. I trotted over to the broken pane of glass, and saw that there was a whole 'nother platform surrounding the top of the spire, and the Jasper simply got up, and jumped off the edge. I came back to the button, slammed my hoof into it, and a beeping sound occurred. The whole spire began to rumble as the shield around it collapsed. "Twilight, get out of there!" Dash came over the com. I jumped out the window, onto the platform. "Do it Sparkle! Jump!" Dash screamed. I didn't see any point to it, so I galloped to the edge, and jumped, right into a falcon. "What the fuck? When did this get here?" I asked, as Flutters spun me around, and checked me with a medical sensor. "Did you not see us come up? Applejack smirked, helmet off. I never got the fact of how she kept her mane in a perfect pony tail with that sweaty helmet on. The falcon flew away from the exploding spire, blooms of orange and red bursting here and there, then vanishing in a cloud of black smoke. That was the end of that. This was only the end of the beginning. Author's Note The beginning, where I'm talking about the dream, I got that from Halo: Fall of Reach. I have no idea where we were. It was a shore, like any other shore, except there was a giant rocket launch station surrounding what was left of this once beautiful and crowded beach. I remember I used to visit here every summer and spring break, when I was still just a little filly. I would ask my brother, Shining Armour, to bury me under the sand. One day he did so, left, and never came back. He had just turned 6 years old. A couple minutes more, something dug me up. It was like a robot, with a helmet, and futuristic armor. Even its tail was covered in metal. When it picked me up, it seemed like it wasn't even touching me, like it had an invisible field surrounding it. That was the first spartan. The falcon touched down on the sandy shore, behind some big boulders obscuring the view of the rocket station. "Okay, our plan is to get to that station. Station 412 has targeted some light jumps from quadrant 8 sector 13, changeling controlled territory. We all suspect that changelings are the ones jumping. They're requesting our assistance in battle. There are a couple of Sabers in that rocket station. Each pair of us will be in one. They have also spotted 3 changeling corvette warships up there. Each saber can seat two of us, and each two of us will attack a corvette with marine reinforcements. If you finish, get to Andromeda. The city is under attack, and has two missile batteries that are capable of demolishing the 3 other corvettes hovering over it. Ready... break!" Dash commanded. Fluttershy just upright sniped about 7 Jaspers right then and there, in a couple seconds. I jumped over a rock, onto the expanse of sand before the launch station. The sand kept on sticking to my shields, over my visor, so I couldn't see very well, and ended up shooting some marines, and a changeling drop pod nearly landed on me. I kneed a Kort in the chest, and banged a Jasper over the head, using my gun as a war-hammer. We advanced until we finally arrived at the entrance of the launch station, but the fight doesn't end here. Dash and Pinkie split here, as Applejack and I stormed through the station. I was immediately introduced to a Himika, who pummeled me with his shield, sending me flying backwards. It was a big square room, so I had a lot of space to circle this thing. As Applejack began shooting it with her machine gun, I managed to get to hand-hand distance with the thing, behind it. I shoved the barrel down the open space of armor, and closed my eyes as neon orange splatters of guts and blood flew out from the back, and the giant fell. I wondered where the other one was, though. We galloped to the other side of the room, and went up a ramp, into a corridor. A couple of marines were trying to fend of a group of Jaspers. Where there was no space for the Jaspers to run, I lodged a frag at them. The red Jasper screamed, as the two blue ones simply crossed their hearts as their brains exploded. Jack and I quickly dashed through the corridors and up the stairs, shooting our way to the top. After a while of blood spill on both sides. We finally passed through a door, and there was no gunfire. Instead, there was a two seat Sabre S12 Spartan Edition star-fighter waiting for us to board. The marine captain guarding the ship told us basic safety instructions, such as; "Don't open the cockpit while in space. Do not press the red button that reads Self Destruct." A rather fat engineer pony opened the cockpit for us. I stuck a hoof inside one at a time. No matter if it was Spartan Edition, the seats were still a little too small for Applejack and me. Once we squeezed inside, the cockpit closed to fast, it hit my head, dwindling my shields. A few minutes in, the Sabre was launched in the air. I looked out the side as the launch station looked as if it were a crack in a sidewalk, zigzagging across the beach, then it turned black, with the twinkle of the stars, Planet Equestria below us. Like a rocket, parts of the Sabre dropped off, as the real Sabre S12 fighter starship emerged. I tested the controls, shooting random bullets and rockets into space, narrowly missing Dash's Sabre as he flew away from us. I did some basic maneuvering, like moving left or right, barrel rolls, flips, all that. "Okay, Twilight, Jack, we'll soon be away from connection, but remember the mission, changelings will be jumping towards your position soon. Don't worry, your not alone," Dash went on hyperdrive, and was soon away from sight. As she said, more Sabres flew past my position. I raced them to the com station ahead. A frigate by the name of "Forward Unto Dawn" was docked there. "What's our next duty, Jack?" I asked. She pointed at a green blip on my screen. That indicated our next site. Apparently, a changeling corvette warship. I followed the other Sabres. "Multiple jumps detected, ready yourselves!" an unknown voice spoke from CSTATION12 network. Probably a coordinator in the station. Expectantly, light portals opened in random positions across my vision. I began shooting at the nearest one, and luckily, two banshees exploded, and I barrel rolled as phantoms began blasting their cannons at me. It was just like the academy, when I was 12. Basic dog-fighting skills. "Z-Beta formation," I yelled into the mic. The connection was extremely strong next to a com station, so I expected everyone in this area to hear me. Our Sabres intertwined into spinning formations, focusing on a group of targets at a time. Purple and blue and red explosions made like fireworks and dissipated a few minutes later. We lost one, though. My heart reverted to its normal rate after the battle was finished. I wished I could wipe the sweat off my brow, as it was getting into my over-sized eyes. For some reason, everyponies' eyes were at least an inch in diameter, and nearly a perfect circle. I put my Sabre into a hover. "Twi, it's not over yet, radars detecting even more jumps," Jack notified me. She had control over all the Sabre's radars and communications and stuff like that. The fabric of space rippled right in front of my vision. I quickly tail-spinned to avoid colliding with the oncoming changelings. Like all Spartan edition vehicles, the shields on the Sabre flickered when the Phantom that scraped the bottom of the starfighter as it came out of the jump portal thing. I had a clear shot at the fuel tanks placed so that it was difficult to hit. I backflipped again, and launched a rocket at the open grate. All changeling vehicles lost power for a couple seconds after it jumped, so its shields weren't up yet. I watched as the changeling transport exploded, right before the shields went up, so the explosion was kept inside. I narrowly avoided pieces of debris that shot passed me. The rest of the team wasn't doing so well. Banshees were tailing a friendly Sabre, as two Phantoms crushed another. I switched on the afterburners, in an attempt to save the Sabre in a dogfight with the Banshees. "Drop your bombs, Shark 2," I ordered the pilot of the Sabre. A few seconds later, the JARDIS Air to Land bombs left the chamber where it was kept under the Sabre. The Banshees pursuing the Sabre were extremely close, just out of reach of the thrusters. With no space to move, the bombs exploded on the front of the Banshees, penetrating their shields, and ultimately blowing up the changeling space aircraft. The rest was pretty smooth. The com station had just activated their auto cannons. I was amazed at the power of the cannons, as it easily finished off the rest of the Banshees. "What's our next duty, Jack?" I asked. She pointed at a green blip on my screen. That indicated our next site. Apparently, a changeling corvette warship. I followed the other Sabres as we jumped to the corvette. A warp jump over a couple hundred our thousand light-years could pertain a regular person from getting nausea. Unfortunately, us Spartans aren't "regular" people. After we came out of the warp portal thing, I wanted to throw up so bad. "You'll get used to it, Twi," Jack comforted me. I launched rockets at oncoming Banshees, getting kill after kill. A little pop up at the bottom of my visor flashed the words, "Killing Spree." "What the fuu?" I narrowly avoided some rubble rocketing at our Sabre. A friendly Sabre flew up to me. The pilot made some gestures with his fingers, before getting crushed by a phantom that just warped in. He wanted us to corrupt the engines of the corvette warship, and destroy their beacon, so that it couldn't run away, or call for help. After that, we were supposed to board the corvette, seize intelligence, and then drop a bomb after we left. Easy enough. "Do a barrel roll!" Jack called. The Sabre went 360 as fuel rod and concussion beams whizzed past. "Duck, point two alpha," Applejack tapped a couple of buttons on her screen. Duck point two alpha, a dangerous play. I charged towards the brigade of enemy aircraft, dodging whatever I could, and shooting while at it, and right before I hit them, I flew up, and shut off the thrusters. I prayed for dear life as we dropped onto the phantom. Yeah, sure, the phantom exploded, but our shields dropped down, and our hull took a lot of damage. "Well that didn't seem worth it," I told Applejack. "That was millennium phantom dat dere was," Applejack scoffed. The rest of the space part of the mission was relatively simple. The thrusters of the corvette weren't defended, and the radar beacon was just sticking out above everything. "Ok, they have some information that we need on here, correct?" I asked the orange mare behind me. "Yeah," Jack responded. I brought the Sabre to a small hover over the edge of the corvette's shields, and datantally dropped down, and landed. The cockpit of the Sabre opened with a hiss. Low gravity represented low shields, so we would have to be careful on the dock. There was a hole in the roof, where we could easily jump in, but before we could, a couple Jaspers popped out. It was an easy battle, as they were surrounded. We moved into the corvette. Purple reflective walls and shiny grounds were what the changelings were known for. "Ok, we need to travel through the left door, where I'm facing, and keep going about 400 meters, alright?" Applejack explained. I nodded, and we were off. It was a short trip to the bomb detonation area, not much resistance. "Cloak, now," Applejack told us. The UNSC had just recently discovered cloaking technology, and we were one of the first people to employ it. I sneaked up behind a golden armored Field Marshall Jasper, and jumped on him, all the while revealing myself. Applejack did her part, and killed the other Field Marshall, and the rest was just shooting. One of the marines lowered the bay doors, and the pelican with the subspace bomb flew in. "Ok, the pelican took some damage on the way here, let's just hope the bomb didn't," Applejack trotted to the bomb, and began setting it up, "cover me, a'ight?" Himikas came in. These were higher ranking brown armored ones. These fired only 1 shot at a time, but they did exactly 718 times as much damage as a fuel rod. I dodged left as a shot whizzed past me. I was blinded for a few seconds, as I accidentally activated night vision, which amplified any light by 1500x. "God dammit," I yelled. Before I knew it, I was flying through the air, and hit my back on the cold hard wall. When my opened my eyes, the bloody bodies of the Himikas lie right besides me, and the chin turret of the pelican smoking. "Thanks shanks there Jack," I gratefully implied light, "Jack, Applejack?" A Jasper went flying out from behind the pelican. "Bomb's damaged!" Applejack called, "I'm going to have to detonate it manually!" I galloped over, "But, won't that mean you'll die?" "I'm taking one for the team, Twilight, something we all have to do once in a while," Applejack hoisted me up by the collar, "tell them, tell them what I told you," she shoved a set of dog tags into my hands. "Oly Oly Oxen free," I chanted, and old tune to which we grew up on. Applejack threw me out of the bays. A tear dripped from my eyes as I watched a black hole open up in the middle of the corvette, and be utterly and completely sucked in, and explode. "Fuck," I said. A voice ran through my head; Should I say I told you so?
