Princess of Fire: A Sequel
I knelt of the soft green grass, munching contentedly. My wings were folded at my side, and my horn shone as if polished. Alicorns were rare. Like my mom, Luna. My Aunt, Celestia... My sister... I pushed Dusk out of my thoughts. No use thinking of her...
The sun shone through gaps in the trees, dappling the ground with light. In the sun, my red coat shone like fire. If anypony was looking for me, they would definitely find me.
My name is Comet. I looked around, and got to my hoofs.
I considered flying, but settled for walking instead. I knew of the dangers. Changelings.
It was because of changelings that I was in this place. Tears welled in my eyes but I blinked them back. No crying. I would never let myself cry. Never.
But thinking of Dusk was too much. The tears sprang forth again and I cried for my sister. My sister who was lost forever.
Yet despite what I knew, I was determined to get her back.
When I arrived at the cottage, Celestia was looking for me.
When she saw me, a look of relief replaced that of worry.
“Don’t sneak out of the house like that.” She scolded. I nodded mutely.
We ate dinner in silence, until I spoke.
"Is there a way to get Dusk back?" I asked.
Celestia sighed. "I have been searching for answers," she began. "I do believe I've found something."
Filled with hope, I looked at the piles of books through the open study door.
"There is... A price." Celestia said reluctantly.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Your horn." Celestia said. "And you wings. All magic that you possess."
My horn? My wings? I loved flying! I wanted my horn! But I wanted Dusk back more than those... How could I give my magic up? Become an Earth Pony!
But I had to save Dusk! I had too...
I made up my mind. I was going to do it.
"How to I do it?" I asked
Very, very reluctantly, Celestia showed me the spell. I could pull this off.
That night, I gathered my things, spread my wings for the last time, and took off. My wings and mane burned, casting light in the darkness. I needed to do this. Ahead, a swarm of changelings hissed, spat, and changed into me. My horn glowed, fire spread, and I left them in a pile of bodies. A lone changeling, one with Dusk's eyes, her mane, she was Dusk. Changeling Dusk.
I charged forward. She tackled me with surprising force, and she pinned me down on the ground.
"You can't get her back!" Dusk hissed. She laughed. "You are a foal, sister!" She looked me up and down beneath her hooves. Her eyes rested on my cutie mark. My special Talent! My horn glowed, and I blasted her back.
Dusk struggled to her hooves, snarling.
The spell! My horn glowed, and I focused.
"What are you doing?" Dusk asked, and i heard a hint of fear in her voice.
A flash, I collapse, and the world goes dark...
Dusk blinked her eyes. What happened. She gasped when she saw her sister, collapsed on the ground, wingless, hornless. An earth pony? Her sister was an alicorn! She blinked again. Still an Earth pony. No, why?
She woke her sister. Comet looked up at her.
"DUSK!" She leapt up and hugged her sister, crying with joy.
I was overjoyed. I may be an earth pony, but I had my sister.
"Why are you an earth pony?" Dusk asked?
"Because of the spell." Comet looked at her back... No wings. She felt her head. No horn.
Celestia galloped over. "There you... Oh..." She stopped when she saw Comet lying on the ground.
She bowed her head. "You now possess no magic to defeat the queen." She said.
Comet frowned. She hadn't thought of that... "I didn't think of that." Comet said.
"Obviously." Celestia looked at the nearby Ponyville.
