The Slow Mo Stallions
Chapter 8 Normal Chips please
Previous ChapterNext ChapterAfter quite some time, Gavin and Dan had mastered walking on four hooves; they could now move around quite confidently and easily and even run.
"This is top." said Gavin as he trotted around triumphantly with Dan.
Twilight giggled and walked back over to the group.
"It's pretty late; I think we should all go home and get some rest. I've told the princess that we'd all visit her tomorrow." she explained.
"That's cool, but what time should we meet at the station?" asked Rainbow Dash.
"Ah think that about ten should do nicely. That way we could all get some much needed shut eye." replied Apple Jack. Everypony nodded, happy with the time.
However there was still the problem of Gavin and Dan.
"Uh, where are we going to stay?"
"Fer now ya'll could stay in mah barn." Suggested AJ, “it’s not all that comfortable, but it's safe 'n warm." Gav and Dan nodded.
"Sounds like a plan!" said Dan happily.
Gavin however was looking up in though with a slight tinge of sadness in his eyes.
"Don't worry you two, the princess will find a way to get you back for sure" added Fluttershy with a warm smile. Gavin returned the smile and looked to AJ to lead the way.
"See ya'll tomorrow, we'll be goin' now". She said as she trotted through the doors followed by Gav and Dan.
Everypony else said their goodbyes and set off home, wondering what to expect from the day to come.
Apple Jack led the two stallions down the dirt path towards sweet apple acres. They went at a fair speed to say that two of them were unable to move a few hours ago. Most of the way they kept quiet, all three of them deep in thought.
Gavin was the first to speak up.
"So, does anyone else live there?"
"Yep, mah brother Big Mac, mah sister Apple Bloom and finally Granny Smith." she replied.
"ok." he said.
"Are they nice?" asked Dan.
"Of course! The Apple Family ain't got one nasty member. We are lookin' after you two odd balls." she chuckled, giving the two stallions a cheeky glance.
It didn't take too long for the trio to reach sweet apple acres. They trotted through the gate allowing Gavin and Dan to take in the sights of the rolling hills and apple trees. Lots and lots of apple trees.
"Wow, that's a bloody lot of trees!" shouted Gavin.
"And we need every single one of ‘em; It is nearly cider season after all. Ya'll can help us on the farm to earn your keep." she chuckled.
"Cider? Did you say cider?" asked Dan. "As in alcoholic cider?"
"Yeah, wha?" she replied.
Gavin and Dan looked at each other, wide eyes and big smiles.
"Get in lads!" yelled Gavin whilst bending one of his forelegs towards himself. AJ shrugged off their strange behavior and carried on towards the house.
When they reached it, Apple Jack opened the door and walked into the kitchen.
"Howdy ya'll!" she said to her family, who were sat around the kitchen table.
"Howdy Apple Jack! Ah missed ya all day, where were ya?" asked Apple Bloom.
"Well... Er... Ah was pickin' up these two from the station." she lied as she gestured to the two stallions.
They stood nervously in the doorway and waved slowly at the rest of the Apple Family.
"Ah'd like everypony to meet Gavin and Dan, some old friends of Twilight's from Canterlot."
"Hi" muttered Gavin.
"Hello" added Dan.
"Well it's nice to meet ya'll, but if ya don't mind me askin', why are you here?" asked Granny Smith while shaking their hooves.
Gavin and Dan stared at her sacredly, not knowing what to say.
"Ah know!" yelled Apple Jack suspiciously. "They're gonna be stayin' in the barn, if that's ok with you that is, cuz they don't have nowhere else to stay." she mumbled. Granny Smith narrowed her eyes and glared at her for a while, a few beads of sweat on her forehead.
"That's ok." said Granny Smith, almost instantly changing moods. "Do ya need feedin'?" she asked Gavin and Dan.
"Phor! Yeah, I'm starving!" replied Dan.
"Me too, bangers and mash would be nice." added Gavin with a smile.
"They sound funny." said Apple Bloom.
"Never mind her, but bangers and what now?" said Granny Smith.
Gavin and Dan looked to each other for a second, confusedly. Suddenly Gavin's eyes grew wide and he looked back to the family.
"I meant. Chips." he replied quickly.
"Potato chips, fer dinner?"
"Uh... No, chips, as in “chips” chips." he replied.
"Yeah chips." added Dan
"Chips?"
"Yeah chips"
"Why chips?"
"Because chips!"
"Are ya sure ya'll mean chips?"
"Yes! Chips!"
"Are you confused son?"
"HOW ABOUT A PIE?!" shouted Apple Jack, fed up with that conversation.
"I like pie" whispered Dan quietly.
"It's settled then, Granny Smith, make a pie please. You two idiots, explain yer selves to Apple Bloom and Big Mac, and no, not that part, just about yer selves ok?"
"Yes" replied Gavin.
This is gonna be one long night though AJ..
