New Knowledge

     It was midnight and twilight just got done writing a paper for princess celestia. She set down her quill and sighed. Her eyes were refusing to stay open, and she was sure spike was out cold.

     She said goodnight to owlicous and picked up spike. She walked up the stairs into her dimly lit room. She put spike in his small kid sized bed, then she changed out of her daytime clothes into her pj's. The pj's consisted of sweat pants and a t shirt. She trudged over to her bed and lifted her covers, only to find someone in her bed already.

       "Dusk! Your supposed to be in the other room!" Dusk shine sat up and rubbed his eyes. His short dark hair was messed up. He squinted and looked up at his female counter part, who was frowning back at him, hands on hips and everything, she looked like his mom. "Ummm... I had nightmares?" He shrugged not really remembering why he came in the bed anyways. Twilight rolled her eyes and sat on the bed. "No, why are you in here?" She said sternly. "Your bed is so much better than mine! And bigger! Plus, I have a feeling owlicous doesn't like me..." He whispered the last part, as if the owl could here him. Twilight s expression eased, she started laughing. "Aww he just has to get used to you last all! But I guess you can stay here... Only tonight!"

        The next morning dusk shine woke up late. Twilight was already up probably reading books or finishing an assignment. Dusk shine sat up and yawned. He slowly put on his clothes and walked downstairs. Breakfast was already made, and spike was scrambling around finding books for twilight. Just a normal day. Dusk shine sat down and grabbed a piece of toast, then started spreading the zap apple jam. Twilight was no where to seen.

       Spike stopped to catch his breath. He walked over to dusk shine and had a sat next to him. Spike stared at him with a stern expression. "..  Umm you need something' spike?" Dusk asked munching. "Listen, I know twilight likes you and all but that doesn't mean you two have to... Do that kind of stuff." Dusk stopped and stared at spike. "What are you talking about?" Dusk set down his toast. "I saw you two! You wee sleeping in the same bed!" Spike through his hands in the air. Dusk shine started laughing, "Spike.. Just because two people sleep in the same bed doesn't mean they are doing that!" Spike smiled sheepishly, "Oh... Heh heh..." Dusk picked up his toast, "But (munching) I am interested on knowing how YOU know twilight likes me.."

        Twilight walked in 2 hours later, dusk was at the desk reading a book twilight had never seen before. "Hey dusk." She said hanging up her coat and eyeing him. "Sup." he didn't take much more recognition to her. Twilight walked around him and peeked over his shoulder. "Watchya readin!?" She screamed in his ear, causing him to jump. "Just some old fairy tales." He said recovering from the jump. "Oh.. Well.. Wann go somewhere tonight?" Twilight asked trying to change the subject. "Where may this place be?" Dusk set down the ragged book. "I was thinking.. Canterlot?" Twilight fiddled with her fingers. "CANTERLOT! For just one night?!" Dusk was shocked, we only went there on specail occasions. "Well.. Ponyville is getting boring and with the grand galloping gala coming up, maybe we could help princess celestia. I mean... She reserved a room for us already.." Twilight tried to avoid dusk shines dark eyes. He knew by that gesture that try had to go, but he was getting more from twilight... Was she blushing? "Oh.. Alright lets start packing." Dusk shine got up and walked into the other room, leaving twilight there smiling stupidly.

      Apple jack, Aj (Girl apple jack) rainbow dash, and rainbow blitz all went with them to canterlot. Scotch and shy were having a dilemma with some beavers, and bubble berry and pinkie were watching the baby cakes as the cakes went to manehatten for a contest.

      They walked to the castle from the train with dusk and twilight leading. They were to busy discussing the preparations to notice what the others were doing. "Ah still think ah shoulda won that mud wrastlin contest. Not you." Aj said crossing her arms. Over the past couple of months Aj and applejack developed feelings for eachother and got over the stubborn rainbows. They still weren't open about a relationship yet. "Hey! Ah won fare and square!" Appe jack said, he poked Aj's nose teasingly.

       The rainbows were flying all over the place trying to convince eachother that they were faster. They eventually went so fast past dusk shine that his hair got messed up, causing twilight to burst out into hysterics. Dusk shine smiled ad yelled, "WATCH IT THERE!!" Rainbow laughed so hard she fell to the ground.

     When they arrived at the castle princess Luna greeted them, for it was far pass daylight. They all split up, the rainbows trailed through the sky, the apples went to a separate chamber while twilight and dusk returned to their old home, the elegant library. "Ahh home sweet library." Dusk shine said, he hugged one of the book shelves. Twilight chuckled and walked over to one of the bathrooms to change.

      When she came back out she found dusk already changed and setting up his bed... On the floor. "Umm, what are ya doing?" Dusk shine looked up, "Uh, going to bed?" He asked cocking an eyebrow. Twilight rolled her eyes, "You can sleep on the bed you know. It's big enough for both of us." She got Into bed waiting. Dusk shine grinned and jumped onto the bed.

     By morning twilight and dusk were still fast asleep. Apple jack and Aj came and knocked on the door, when there was no response they decided to barge in. When they saw twilight and dusk their jaws dropped. "Well wouldjya look at that." Apple jack said scratching his head. The sight before them would have made fluttershy blush. Twilight and dusk were in the bed, holding eachother. Dusks head was resting on twilight's, and twilight was allowing him! "Ah.. Maybe we should leave em' alone." Aj whispered, she was smiling. FINALLY they actually did something. "Eeeeyup." Applejack replied.

       Later that afternoon, twilight and duskshine were checking preparations for the grand gala. "Ok food, check. Drinks check. Balloons, um.. Check. Invitations and tickets, check! Streamers.. Oh no!" Twilight dropped her quill. "HOW COUKD WE FORGET STREAMERS??!!!" She through her hands in the air. Dusk shine laughed, "Ummm, twilight.." He pointed to the horn on her head. Twilight blushed in embarrassment, "Oh... Right."

2 days later....

       "EEP! The grand gala is tonight!" Twilight danced around her room. Dusk shine looked up from his book, "Uh, twilight if I do recall, the last grand gala didn't go so great." Twilight stopped jumping and put her hands on her hips. "That's because... Well..... Ugh! Whatever all girls get excited for dances!" She yelled. Dusk shine got up, "True except for Aj and Rainbow dash." Dusk smirked as twilight got frustrated. "Ok whatever." Twilight stomped towards the stairs. "Ok well it's 5:00 and I suggest you get dressed." With that she went up the stairs to get ready.

      Dusk shine checked the clock for what seemed like the 700th time. "TWILIGHT HURRY UP OR WE ARE GOING TO BE LATE!!!" Dusk shine crossed his arms and tapped his foot. He was wearing a traditional black suit with a purple tie. Twilight had told him it would match her dress. Twilight finally strolled down the stairs in a dress that made dusks jaw drop. She was wearing a silky lavender colored dress, that was long and flowing. There was a slit that went up about and inch past her knee. Her dark hair was in an elegant yet messy bun, with a few curly strands hanging out of it. Her bang curled perfectly sweeping across her forehead, with the pink and purple streets.

     "Whoa..." Dusk shine finally said. Twilight laughed, "Come on we are going to be late!" She mimicked. Dusk held out his arm and twilight took it. Together they walked to the gala.

     When they arrived most of canterlot had already gotten into the ballroom. "Good evening twilight and dusk shine." Princess celestia shook each of their hands. Twilight quickly discussed something with princess celestia about the preparations, then she led dusk into the ballroom. Pinkie pie and bubble berry were in the middle of the room dancing, and receiving strange looks. Blitz, dash, butterscotch and fluttershy were no where to be found, probably outside enjoying the weather, and the two apple jacks were toasting with some cider. Twilight pulled dusk towards Aj and apple jack.

     "Hey there twilight!" Apple jack said. He was wearing a black suit with a red tie, that went with Aj's basic thigh length dress. "Hey! I didn't think you guys would be here!" Twilight said with a smile. Aj and twilight started talking about their dresses,and nonsense dusk didn't care about. Applejack pulled him aside giving the girls an excuse about getting more cider. "So... Dusk your making your move tonight right?" Dusk smirked, "Mhm. I can barely wait another minute."

     "Hey twilight, lets go in the garden." Dusk grabbed twilight away from Aj, and swept her outside. Twilight noticed how tight he was hiding her hand. He led her to the balcony, and looked over canterlot. He glanced at her. Then smiled. She returned the grin.

     They stood for a while, watching the stars. After hat seemed like ages, dusk shine finally spoke. "It's perfect out tonight." He looked at twilight. Twilight smiled. "Yea, but it's a little chilly." Twilight looked back at the castle, then felt the warmth of dusks jacket. She wiped around to look at him. He was smiling at her, in that cute way. For a second he looked like blitz.

    Twilight stared at dusk for a long ime. Taking in his features, tan skin, short hair, purple eyes, perfect smile. She had no idea how close she was getting. Dusk shine put his hands on twilight's hips. He put his head near her ear. "I heard a little secret about you.." He whispered. Twilight grew stiff, he continued, "Some dragon told me, that you have a Crush on me..." He pulled his head away. Then looked back in her eyes. Twilight bit her lip. Dusk shine drew in for the kiss but twilight beat him to it. Dusk shine rapped his arms around her. He smiled, but twilight didn't feel like letting go.

   They both thought the same thing, Best. Night. Ever.

       And for a second they thought they heard, two familiar giggles, near the bushes.
