Snowdrops ears twitched back and forth to the chimes of the stars.
She sighed, content. Another busy day over and done with and it was only Sunday. She had done nothing but play and a little snowflake sculpting. She could show it to her grandmother tomorrow after school.
Ahhhh...... tomorrow was school. She couldn't stay up any later if the stars were already this loud.
A few more minutes couldn't hurt. She would just wait until Mom called her in again, she had been more attentive ever since she had fallen asleep under the stars after the Spring Sunrise presentation.
She sighed again with a smile now on her face. Things had gotten so much better every since then.
There had been countless orders and requests for snowflakes and a strange new respect from everyone around her. Especially her class; they had all taken something from her idea.
Snowdrops eyes became heavy as she smiled again sleepily. It always made her happy to reminisce on that time. Especially as she had made a very special friend.
Snowdrop ear twitched again suddenly, not to a star chime but to a noise in front of her.
It certainly wasn't a melodic sound. It was ragged. Definitely organic. Pained. It sounded pained.
Snowdrop sat up carefully but quickly. This was alien and filled her with fear by default as it was so different to the sound of the sky.
Her head reeled as she rapidly tried to make sense of the....thing in front of her. All her senses were on high alert to give any clue as to the situation.
Breathing. It was pained breathing. The thing was hurt. It sounded like it was trying to gasp through a liquid.
Snowdrop closed her mouth to take away the dryness, still perfectly still.
There was a change in the breathing in rhythm to the figure walking towards her. It was accompanied by a slight scraping sound.
The figure breathed in deeper, as did a very freighted Snowdrop.
"Snowdrop..." The voice was very familiar, and very pained. "I did something bad. I did something really bad.........."
Snowdrop trepidation turned to concern and with her heart still ringing in her ears, she approached the figure.
