I Knew This Was My Moment

I KNEW THAT THIS WAS MY MOMENT
I know that most of you won’t believe my story but this is a true tale of what happened. It is a tale from when I was an adult. A war had just ended. However, it was no ordinary war. This war was based on a completely different reason. I’m sure that most of you have heard of who Bronies are. Yes, this war was a war between Bronies and Haters. Haters are those who hate what Bronies like – My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The war was intense and the weaker Bronies lost…we were pushed into secrecy and rarely even mentioned the show. We ran away from where we once lived, to hide from the Haters. 1 year after the war, in the year 2021, I was living by myself on a farm in the middle of Europe. Of course I had neighbours…and internet…with gadgets…but something happened that soon pulled me away from all of this.
In my neighbourhood, I was not the only Brony. There were a few others with me. We rarely communicated but even then, when we did, we used codenames. My code name was Lightspeed or Light for short as that was my own made character’s name. My best friend went by two names. He was either the Usurper or Blitz. Blitz was his own made character’s name. Despite our code names and relationship, we still didn’t talk much till that one fateful day.
At the back of my house, I had my garden planted. I had taken so much time and effort in planting that garden. It had fruits and vegetables like carrots, apples, oranges, cabbages and many others. It still wasn’t harvesting time for those fruits and veggies and I really had nothing to do with them at that time so I was inside my house stuck on my computer secretly reading fan fictions of MLP FiM on fimfiction.net. Out of the blue, I heard a whacking sound coming from my garden like something had hit one of my apple or orange trees. “It must be some meddling kids of the Haters-next-door!” I thought to myself and quickly ran out. However, the moment I exited the back door, I heard something moving off quickly into the woods nearby. It sounded like…galloping…When I looked at my trees, none of them had been touched except for one apple tree…Four big baskets full of ripe apples surrounded the tree making the tree look barren. I was confused. All the other trees still had unripe fruits but this one seemed to have produced ripe, red, juicy apples. What was that thing that came out of nowhere?
Later that day, I was on my laptop again when I heard the same noise as before. This time, I rushed out at top speed and saw what the ‘thing’ was. A red stallion with a yellow mane was whacking against another one of my apple trees. Once noticing my presence, he turned his head in my direction, frightened. “Big Mac?” I called out. “Eeyup…” came the response. I couldn’t believe my eyes! Big Macintosh was in my garden bucking apple trees!!!
“What are you doing here Big Mac?” I asked him.
“Are you Lightspeed?” came the response.
“Yes.” I answered.
“Follow me…” he said and started trotting off to the woods. I followed him suit knowing not where I was going. I kept walking and he kept trotting deeper and deeper into the woods until we reached a massive tree.
“You first…” he told me.
“Erm…what?” I tried to ask before he stuck out a hoof and whacked me towards the tree. I expected to hit my head and get a concussion but instead, I seemed to fly right through the tree and suddenly I was transported into somewhere so familiar to me but I just could not recognise it. I landed on all fours and realised that I had been transformed! I was no longer a human. No, I was now a blue and yellow Pegasus. I was just like how I had imagined him to be. Yes, I was now Lightspeed!
Big Mac appeared behind me soon after.
“Welcome to the Everfree Forest!” He said and trotted off, asking me to follow. I trotted along behind him till we reached a house made in a tree. Big Mac pushed open the door and walked in.
“Twilight! We have company!” he announced as he trotted further in. I had just entered when Princess Twilight Sparkle appeared in front of me. I bowed but she sighed and asked me to rise.
“I hate it when ponies do that…I am no different from they…WHY THE BOWING!!!” she shouted before realising that I was still there.
“Oh sorry Lightspeed…please come in” she said as she trotted in with me following behind.
“Where is Zecora?” Big Mac called out.
“Out picking flowers for some kind out weird potion…” came the response from a very familiar voice. As I trotted through the house to the main room, I realised why. All of the Mane 6 from the show (or the keepers of the elements of Harmony) was in that room… Rainbow Dash, the holder of the element of Loyalty, Pinkie Pie, the holder of the element of laughter, Rarity, the holder of the element of Generosity, Applejack, the holder of the element of honesty and Fluttershy, the holder of the element of kindness. That voice was Rainbow Dash’s voice. I was standing there, mouth agape in awe at seeing them.
“Oh, hey Lightspeed…” Rainbow said upon seeing me. “Twilight has something very important for you” she said before turning back to talk to Fluttershy.
“Umm…okay…” I said, unaware of what to do. Twilight suddenly appeared behind me like a Ninja.
“Please follow me…” she said and trotted out of the house. I followed suit and we took off in flight. We flew all the way to Ponyville which seemed to have been wrecked in chaos. The sky was overcast and so were the ponies.
“Has Discord gone rampant and destroyed Ponyville or something?” I asked Twilight as we flew over the devastation.
“No…it’s nothing like that…” she replied as we landed in City Hall. “It’s something much worse…Do you know about the connection between Equestria and Earth?”
“No…” I replied, confused.
“Well,” continued Twilight, “The fate of Equestria is dependent on Earth. All Bronies and Pegasisters on Earth have their own characters that live somewhere in Equestria. When the Brony or Pegasister dies on Earth, that person’s Pony dies in Equestria. When a Brony or Pegasister leaves the fandom, his or her Pony disappears and an earthquake strikes the whole of Equestria…That is how we are connected…” she explained.
“So?” was all I was able to reply to that.
“Well, Lightspeed, in the past one year, Equestria has lost over 3000 ponies and has been hit by over 1000 earthquakes…” she replied. As if on cue, a massive earthquake struck and a nearby building collapsed to the ground, leaving a Unicorn named Lemon Hearts crying nearby.
“And, how exactly can I help?” I asked her.
“By getting all the Bronies and Pegasisters back together.” she replied. I assessed the pros and cons of doing that.
“No…I can’t do that…I’ll get caught…I’m sorry…” I replied and started to trot off…Behind me, I could have sworn that I heard sobbing…Suddenly, a force jerked me back around.
“Equestria is crumbling Lightspeed!!! Only you are worthy to stop it!!!” Twilight said between tears and sobbing. I thought for a while and sighed.
“Okay…what’s the plan” I said. A smile grew on Twilight’s face as she embraced me.
“Thank you Lightspeed!” she said as tears still streamed down her face. She then teleported away and teleported back with a small device with buttons. She hoofed it over to me.
“This device is a beacon. If you need help, press the purple button and we will be there. The pink button, however, is specifically for Pinkie. If you need help getting people back into the fandom, press that button and she will come as fast as she can to help you.” Twilight explained. I nodded my head, still staring at the device.
“So, how do I get back to Earth?” I asked.
“The same way you came in. TO THE EVERFREE FOREST!!!!!!!” Twilight shouted out and took off in flight with me following behind. In about 10 minutes, we arrived at the enormous tree I came through.
“So, this is it for now…” I said and trotted closer to the tree.
“WAIT!!!!” Pinkie screamed and galloped towards me. At the speed of light, she tied something to my back. I turned around and noticed the famous musical instrument of the Crystal Empire.
“A Flugelhorn? Really Pinkie?” I asked the pink mare in sarcastic disbelief.
“Well, if you are bored, play it!!! It’s fun!!!” she said with her ever-popular smile on her face.
“Whatever…” I said and trotted through the tree.
I appeared on the other side back as my human self. Back in the forest near my farm in the night. I thought back about Ponyville and wondered if it was a dream. However, my hand instinctively went to my back to check it and there it was. The Flugelhorn was attached to my back by string. Immediately I had a plan. I knew what I had to do and walked towards the farms. I KNEW THAT THIS WAS MY MOMENT.
The first place I headed to was the Usurper’s house. I barged through his door, removed the Flugelhorn from my back and blew hard into it. The Usurper, who was in his room, dashed downstairs in fright. Upon seeing me, he stared at me in utter disbelief.
“Are you crazy Light?!?! It’s 10pm and you’re playing some random, noisy instrument in MY house? What is wrong with you?” the Usurper shouted out.
“Usurper. I know that this may look weird but I have a perfectly good explanation for this. Do you recognise this instrument?” I asked him.
“Umm…no…” came the reply.
“It’s a Flugelhorn. Remember The Crystal Empire’s musical instrument? MLP FiM Season 3 Episode 1?” I queried him.
“Oh yes! I remember! You made one?” he replied.
“No Usurper…You see, I have actually been to Ponyville…Ponyville is in trouble and I came here to seek your help. The Flugelhorn was given to me by Pinkie Pie I’m guessing to remind people of MLP…I need your help in this…Will you help me?” I asked him. He thought for a while as he normally does.
“Okay…” he finally replied, smiling. “Let’s do this!” he exclaimed. Together with the Usurper and Pinkie (Through the beacon), we were able to bring back nearly all Bronies and Pegasisters that had left and only a few were left as they didn’t want to come back.
After the best we were able to do, the Usurper and I went through the portal and appeared back in Equestria. Twilight and the other Main 5 were there waiting for us. I appeared yet again as the blue and yellow Pegasus called Lightspeed but this time, what surprised me more was the Usurper. He appeared as a dark blue Unicorn which I recognised immediately.
“Well hello there Blitzkrieg or Blitz, as you like it.” I called out with a smile. The Usurper was shocked and his jaw was hanging loose as he examined himself and the Main 6 in front of us.
“Welcome back, Lightspeed and hello Blitz!” Twilight greeted with a wide grin. Blitz bowed to Twilight who immediately stormed off at seeing that.
“Well don’t take Twilight too hard dear, she always does that when somethin like that happens.” Applejack said in her usual Texan accent. “Anyway, good jab on finishin the convertin but ya’ll still need to get rid of them haters. Equestria is almost back to normal but this is the last thing that is needed.” She finished off and I knew what she meant…Ponyville needed another Brony-Hater War in which the Bronies win. Worried but still a bit confident, I nodded my head and accepted what was needed.
“Don’t worry deary! We are always here to help! Just use the beacon!” said the sophisticated Rarity reassured. Nodding, I went back through the portal and arrived back on Earth with the Usurper by my side.
“So? What do we do?” the Usurper asked.
“We fight.”
The forces were ready. The war had officially begun. Strategies were used. Bombs were fired. People were killed. But overall, I knew that the Bronies were winning. Now, we just needed to give them their final blow. I was outside the door of the Haters’ leader’s room. I had a gun in my hand and I was alone. I had already activated the beacon for the Main 6 to come and rid the world of Haters by using the Elements of Harmony (It would only work on a weaker war force). They were going to arrive in fifteen minutes. With a large breath of air, I kicked down the door and aimed my gun at the only chair there. The Hater leader was in his recliner, facing the fireplace.
“Ah! Lightspeed is it? I knew you would come. Great job by the way! You able to get rid of everyone but not anymore!” the leader said as he swivelled around to face me. I could not believe my eyes! Matthew, my ex-classmate was there in that chair.
“Matthew? W…why are you doing this…” I asked, confused.
“Because, after loving that show for a long time, I realised the truth! It’s stupid, idiotic and girly! Why on earth would people watch it?” he replied.
“So why kill us?” I shouted out at him.
“Ridding the world of retards who love a show for girls is a perfect plan!” he said in a way that seemed as if he was insane.
“You’re crazy and stupid…” I said still aiming the gun at him.
“I know!!!” he yelled and charged at me. Before I could fire, he whacked the gun out of my hand and we were found in a brawl. “Five minutes till they arrive” I thought to myself. And punches kept flying. Suddenly, the whole room was filled with a bright light. Matthew and I stared at the window till I realised what was going on and smiled.
“They are here!” I warned, smirking. The Main 6 were up in the air with the Elements of Harmony lifting them. A huge forcefield appeared and expanded around at super speed. Twilight, who had her eyes closed, opened them to reveal and unleash the full force of the elements of Harmony and Matthew vapourised in front me and the forcefield turned into the colours of the rainbow, only to die down two minutes later. I rushed out of the building and towards the Main 6. Twilight greeted me with one of the biggest smiles I have ever seen.
“Thank you Lightspeed for all of your help! You saved Equestria!” she said, embraced me and suddenly teleported back. I was stunned. The ending…I couldn’t believe it…It was too abrupt…but I couldn’t change it…my moment was over…
