Dark and ARMD work for the United Research Association or the URA and although neither of them are human nor ponies nor have they even ever heard of one, that all changes when they take part in a dimensional travel experiment that could ultimately result in the destruction of Equestria. (This takes place mid season 3 with events after episode 7 having never occurred.)
