My name is Princess Twilight Sparkle. I'm the Element of Magic, and a very important pony. But there was a time when I wasn't an Alicorn, and I wasn't immortal. There was a time when I was just a normal unicorn, an average citizen who had loving friends and family. But that time…it seemed so long ago. I wish I still had that, that freedom and love. That comfort. It seems like the only pony who really loves me is my old foalsitter, Princess Cadence. Celestia doesn't really pay attention to me now that I'm a Princess. She thinks that it's all okay, and that I don't need anypony. But she couldn't have been more wrong. I stand here, gazing upon my friend's graves, remembering when they were here.

Applejack, the honest. I remember how she used to call me Sugarcube, and how she was always as stubborn as a mule. Also, her family. Granny Smith, Big Macintosh, Applebloom. Applebloom died 45 years ago of an unknown cause. She was still so young, only 40 years old. I attended her funeral with her friends, and her cousin, Babs Seed. Applejack always came through, even in the hardest of times. We used to call her AJ. It was the dumbest name, but we still did it. We used to enjoy apple cider under the shade of the trees during the Summer, and bob for apples on Nightmare Night. One day we went to Sweet Apple Acres, and Applejack had vanished the night prior. Nopony ever heard from her again.

I looked over at the next grave. R.I.P. PINKIE PIE

Pinkie Pie, the laughing. Pinkie Pie always made us smile, even on the darkest of days. Her randomness always got her into the most awkward positions. She baked treats for us, and we used to enjoy them together. The pranks that used to be played by her and Rainbow Dash. Her trademark grin, her joyous laughter. Those were always my favorite things. Her parties were grand, and always fun. Pinkie, Pinkie was amazing at what she did, making others happy. There was a fire at SugarCube Corner, and Pinkie didn't make it. It was mid-summer. We had scheduled a picnic that day, and Pinkie was supposed to bring the treats, like she always did. She was in SugarCube Corner, baking cupcakes. They were in the oven, and Pinkie was upstairs. Then, the oven caught on fire, and she didn't notice. Within minutes, SugarCube corner was ablaze. We all saw it and rushed over. We heard screaming, and we realized that Pinkie was trapped. Applejack ran inside and found her on the kitchen floor, screaming for help. Applejack stood over her to protect her until I could free them with my magic. By the time I got in, they were trapped behind a wall of flaming wood. I tried to levitate the wood so I could get to them, but they wouldn't budge. Luckily, Rainbow Dash had rounded up all the storm clouds she could find, and was making it rain. The fire was put out, and with the help of all my friends, we could get to Pinkie and Applejack. Applejack was severely burned by the falling rubble, but she recovered. Pinkie, however, was burned even worse than Applejack, and had breathed in all that smoke…she didn't survive. Her funeral took place the next day, at the Pie family Rock Farm, where she grew up. Her sisters, Bellamina and Gemini, thanked us for being there for her, and being true friends.

Rarity, the generous. Rarity had the best fashion sense, always wearing something fashion forward and original. She hated dirt. This fear of getting dirty was usually ridiculous, but watching her freak out was kind of amusing. She made us dresses for the Gala, and just for the fun of it. She was beautiful, and her sense of detail was always useful. Rarity came down with cancer, and died at age 70. Sweetie Belle, at age 50, took ownership of the Carousel Boutique. Rarity's voice was amazing, and she was nothing less than an amazing friend.

Rainbow Dash, the loyal. Rainbow Dash never let you down. She was a jokester, always pulling pranks with Pinkie. A true friend. She was about to become a Wonderbolt, her lifelong dreams about to be fulfilled. She died during her final exam. It turned out that Rainbow Dash had a rare heart condition that not even she knew about. She pushed herself so hard that her heart failed, and she collapsed. I'll never forget the adventures we went on, how she was prepared for anything. She was a mentor, fun-loving, and overall just a great pony.

Fluttershy, the kind. Fluttershy, I'll never forget. Her kind heart, and loving persona. She was hard to befriend, but it sure paid off. She was beautiful, caring. One of my best friends, and one who is well known. Her heart and soul went into everything she did, even if it was only feeding her bunny, Angel. Fluttershy died when she was out in the meadow. It was a hot summer afternoon. She was very old, at age 88. She was resting by the riverbank with her animal friends. She fell asleep, and never woke up. Fluttershy had so much left in her, so much more kindness to give and spread. My dearest Fluttershy.

I couldn't bear looking at the last grave.

Spike, the dragon. My best friend ever since my fillyhood. My #1 assistant and my lifelong companion. Or so it seemed. He was growing up again, this time not greedy. The Equestrian Guard convicted him of stealing every gem and bit in Canterlot, and killing 3 innocent ponies. They tried to tell him to leave Equestria and never return, but he said that he would rather die than leave me. So they asked him one more time to leave, or they would kill him. He still refused. So they said fine, they would let him stay. But something didn't seem right. One week later, he went out, and I stayed in the library. 1 hour later, I heard a scream. But it wasn't the scream of a pony. It was the roar of a dragon. I rushed out to town hall. He was dead, just like that. But later that year, they found out he didn't do it. That was when I lost it. I tried to kill somepony. I never thought I would loose him. Life is cruel and unfair…WHY DID THEY HAVE TO KILL HIM!!! My Spike…my precious little dragon.

"Miss Sparkle, art thou alright?" Asked Luna. I could tell it was her, because she speaks Olde Equestrian.

"Yes Luna, I'm okay…" I sighed.

"May we enter thy chambers?"

"Yes Luna." Princess Luna stepped in and sat next to me on the pile of cushions that now occupied my bedroom floor. I stared blankly out my window, my eyes locked on the circle of graves, 6 total, at the center of the Canterlot Cemetary.

"Tell us what troubles thou." Said Luna.

"Nothing Luna, it's not important." I whispered.

"Twilight Sparkle. We know something troubles thou, so why not tell us? We will surely understand." Said Luna, a small smile on her face.

"It seems like you're the only pony who understands me at all these days. I'm so lonely, Luna. All of my friends are dead. I have nopony." I said, tears starting to well up in my eyes.

"Tell us more, and maybe we can put you're mind at rest." Said Luna.

"I never wanted to become a Princess, because I knew that I would become immortal. I watched all my friends and family die around me. I'm so alone. I always think to myself; Is there any way to make this torture end?" I sobbed, my head buried in Luna's shoulder.

"We felt the same way for 1000 years. Eventually, its not that bad. But we know how thou feels." Said Luna comfortingly, gently stroking my hair.

"I just want it to end. I want my eternal life to end." I cried, bringing my head out of Luna's shoulder.

"Twilight, you can't. You can't make it end." Luna said firmly.

"Why!? Why not!" I was furious, and I could tell my sanity was slipping away.

"Because thou was chosen, chosen by Celestia to rule when the time came."

"Who cares! She doesn't get to make my life choices!"

"Twilight, listen to us, hear us out."

"Fine, I'm listening."

"Celestia needs you. Equestria needs you. Celestia has lost more companions than you can ever imagine, including me. She's broken, Twilight, and you're the only one who can hold her together. She needs you, Twilight." Luna held my hand.

"I-I can't, I just can't. Tell Princess Celestia that I'm sorry." My horn lit up, and soon a dagger was at my throat. It was then that Luna started to cry, which never happened.

"Twilight, please, don't do this!" Tears streamed down Luna's cheeks, and she looked at me with such sadness, such loss. I could feel the cold blade against my throat, but my magic started to waver.

"I'm so sorry." With one last look at Luna, I slid the blade across my neck.
