//-------------------------------------------------------// Black Rose -by AshuraZXexianGlitch- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Mysterious girl on the farm //-------------------------------------------------------// Mysterious girl on the farm Big Macintosh: Big Macintosh here. I'm a simple farm stallion. Every day I buck trees and care for the crops. Day in and day out its the same thing. Except for the days I go out to town, somedays I'll meet a mare. Now, I've never been one for dating. But once in a while I'll have a small fling. Like I said, small flings. Some days I'd get an admirer wondering into the farm and watching me. Usually I'd give them a smile and off they'd go. Most would come by and stay for at least a week, they'd stop sooner or later. The longest I had someone coming by was for a month or so. But there is this mare, her mane is black and her coat was red. I'd smile at her, she would respond like the others. She'd just sit there and watch me, sometimes ducking behind the tree she'd use for cover. At times I would come up to her, to try and talk to her. But she would duck behind the tree. Once I got there, she would be gone. No where to be seen. It's been about three months or so. I was actually starting to get suspicious. I tried to point her out to Applejack or Applebloom. But by the time they look, she'd be gone. I just didn't get it. Today was the day I had it with her. As soon as I spotted her I ran toward her. This time I caught her. "Who the hell are you, and why have you been watching me!" I was angry, so I didn't watch the volume of my voice. She ducked down and looked away from me. She kinda of reminded me of my sister's friend, Fluttershy. "I'm sorry...I'll just leave." She said weakly. She backed away from me with tears in her eyes. I felt ashamed for what I did. I blew up on the poor girl. I bowed my head and watched her as she started to walk away. "Wait!" She stopped in her tracks and looked back at me. She still looked spooked. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean any harm. I just didn't know your intentions. But from your reaction, I can tell you don't mean any harm to me or my family." "I didn't mean to cause any suspicion." She said quietly. She turned around and sat on the grass. Her mane covered half of her face. Honestly, she was cute, like a playful kitten or a baby pup. I took a seat myself. Her eyes were a bright hazel, if I didn't know any better I'd say she was blind. "What's your name?" I asked her kindly. She bowed her head. It looked to me she had to think about it, but I think she was just being shy. She looked at the grass and then back up at me, looking at me with her one eye showing. The other one was covered up by her mane. "Rose...Black Rose." She said quietly, she was looking at the ground and then her gaze shifted to me. She was making circles with her hoof on the ground. "What...what's your name?" This struck me as odd. Everypony knew who I was. Nearly ever mare in town knew who I was. "My name is Big Macintosh, but everypony calls mah Big Mac for short." I said trying to look her in the eye. She was mysterious for one. She certainly had my attention. "It nice to meet you." "Can I call you Mac?" She asked making circle in the opposite direction. I couldn't help but smile. My mom had called me Mac when I was young. "I don't see why not." I said kindly with a smile. A slight breeze blew in the air. Some leaves had flown between us. "Big Macintosh! Where in tarnation are ya'?" I heard Applejack yell. I looked behind me to see my sister. She looked at me, I looked back at Rose. But she was gone, for one she was quick and quiet. I looked back at Applejack, the wind blew again. "Breaks over, back to work." "Yeeup." I said, I glance back at where Rose had been sitting. I headed toward my sister, I tried to get my train if thought back to work, but for some reason her image wanted to remain on my mind. Black Rose: I watched him go toward his sister. I loved that stallion more then life itself, and life was short. He was handsome and caring. "You know you can't have him." I was told. I had a voice inside of my head. Call it a split personality. Most days I'd ignore it, other days it became to much and I'd argue with myself. I turned away from him and went toward the Everfree Forest. My home had been the forest ever since my birth. Couldn't tell you how I was born, I just woke up at night someday and I found myself surrounded by the forest. I never felt scared of the place, it just felt like home for some odd reason. But I never questioned it. I built a hut out of branches and leaves. It blended into the the place very well. No pony could find it unless they were looking for it. I never had to worry about food, many edible things grew in the forest. Never had to worry about poisonous things. I some how knew what was safe to eat and what wasn't safe to eat. I did have an immunity to poisons. I'd get sick for a few days. What would kill some other pony, it just made me I'll for a day or too. Learned that the hard way from a snake that I accidentally came across when it was shedding. Poor thing was probably scared out of its mind. "I hope he dies." "Shut up." I said to the voice. It wasn't a kind voice, I believed it was the hatred others feel once in a while. Mine was just a personality. Didn't know why, didn't really question it honestly. I learned to live with it. Wasn't hard, besides it was the only thing I could talk too. Mac was the only pony I had ever talked to. At that moment I felt lonely for the first time. "She speaks, great job! I hope you die too. Oh wait you will die soon." It said laughing. I mentally told it to shut up over and over. I went over to my little bed near the place I'd make a fire when the nights where cold and where I would make soup on occasion. I'd capture rain water for drinks, so I never really had to worry, plus there was a small stream nearby full of spring water that was consumable. I was consent with what I had. Never had needed more. But then one day I had gotten curious. "Ugh, your annoying." The voice said. Like I said, I got curious and went into the open field that was beyond the forest break line. I found myself close to a apple orchard. That's when I saw Mac. He had been working, and was sweating a little. Now I don't know about other mares, but at that moment I felt my heart drop. So from that day on I had watched him from a far. I hadn't been the only one to do that. There were others who would come by, some watching like me and other friends that would visit. One I saw a couple, both were alicorns. One was black and the other was purple. That was the first time I had ever seen an Alicorn. I would sometimes watch him with other mares. I had never seen or heard anything about what they were doing, but it made me feel weird. I would watch for a only a little before I would feel flustered. That's when I would leave, her eyes would roll back into her head, and her tongue would stick out. While Mac would pound her with something that was attached to him. I'd come back later to see Mac. He noticed me only about three or two months ago, but I've been watching him for about eight or nine. I guess I just got careless. "I bet you'd like to get that from Mac, wouldn't you?" The voice said. I felt that odd feeling when I would watch him and those mares. "Shut up." I said to the voice and to my mind. No didn't want to think of that right now. I started a small fire. I was starting to feel a little hungry so I was going to make some berry stu. "Yummy, yummy. How about some roses." The voice said sarcastically. I remembered the name I told Mac. To tell the truth, I came up with it on the spot. Black Rose just jumped into my head, so I went with it. I was still feeling that odd feeling. I just couldn't help it, I was getting frustrated. I didn't know what I was feeling or how to deal with it. I just tried to cook up a meal. I was going through the motions, but the feeling remained. Usually it would go away quickly, but this time it wanted to stay for some reason. "Your pathetic." "I told you to shut up." I said sternly. I felt stupid, I was talking to myself. I pushed everything out of my mind and focused on making my supper. It would be dark soon, so I had to keep this fire going. Which meant I'd have to eat fast and go and get some wood for a steady fire. I sometimes wondered what it felt like to live like a normal pony. But the. I'd think, I'm my a normal pony, so it didn't matter. "You have nothing to show, and your gonna die soon. You have nothing and you'll die alone. Ohh your gonna die, die, die." The voice sang inside of my head. I felt tears well up in my eyes. I let them fall, I just kept making my soup. Same thing, different day. //-------------------------------------------------------// Life //-------------------------------------------------------// Life Black Rose: I went the farm in the morning. I watched Mac and his sisters come out of their home. Mac stretched and went to the first apple tree. Day in and day out same thing different day. I watched him work the whole day. He had kept an out for me, but I remained hidden. I wouldn't even know what to say to him. So I just kept farther back. Sure was difficult to keep an eye on him, but it was for the best. At least, until I was found. But not by Mac, by his sister. "What in tarnation? Who in the hay are you?" I looked at her with surprise. I didn't even hear her come close to me. I looked at her, my mind was blank. "I'm...I'm Black Rose. I'm..." She looked at me with confusion. I didn't know what to say. Not like I could say I was here stalking her brother. "I was just leaving." "You were watching Big Mac, weren't ya." I stopped, I looked at her with tears in my eyes. "I'm sorry..." I froze, I wasn't good with ponies. I didn't know how to talk to them. I lived by myself since forever. I never had to deal with others, besides the voice in my head. "It alright suger cube, I'm use to it to be honest. Mares always drop by to see my brother." She said with a smile. "Never had a problem. But, I've never seen you before. Ponyville is a small town, hard not to know everypony. You new in town?" "Not...not exactly." I said weakly. She looked at me with confusion. "What do you mean?" She asked, I was looking down at the ground. Making circles in the grass with my hoof. "I ah...live in the Everfree forest." I said glancing up at her. She smiled at me. "You remind me of my friend Fluttershy." She said with a slight laugh. "How long have you lived in the Everfree forest? Are from Zecora's homeland?" "Zecora?" I asked, the look she gave me afterwords confused me. She looked me up and down. Sizing me up, there was something about me she wasn't getting. "I...I ah was born there." "Really? Do you live with anyone else?" She asked, she was speaking a little slow. Like she was hoping I would say I had a brother or a sister, parents or anything. But I lived alone, and I wasn't going to tell her about the voice. No pony needed to know about that. "No." I felt so different from it, was so uncomfortable. I think the feeling was mutual. She had an odd look on her face and her eyes were moving around like she was trying to think of something to say. "I'm a little odd." She smiled at me and laughed. Wasn't quite sure what to say. Wasn't even sure what she was laughing at. So I was completely lost. "Ya mean to tell me, y'all lived in the Everfree forest, all by yourself?" "Yes." I said really confused. She continued to laugh, it wasn't a laugh, like she was making fun of me. It was more like, a laugh from a good memory. So her laughing didn't harm my feelings in any way. "Are you alright?" "Ya just reminded me of the first time I truly met Zecora. The whole town was afraid of her, and my little sis was the one to show us who she truly was." I gave her a light smile. "Honestly, I'm not good with ponies. I don't know what to say right now." I said feeling stupid, but I had to be honest. How could I not, honestly I had nothing to hide, never had anything to hide. "It's alright sugar cube." She said with a friendly smile. "My name is Applejack, it nice to meet you Black Rose." "Rose...you can call me Rose if you want too." I said, that was the day I made my first mare friend. From that day on, I started to go into town and meet other ponies. It felt good it really did. But life is short, it truly is. "It's very nice to meet ya Rose." I was invited into their house that night. Mac was happy to see me, I think at least. He doesn't really show much emotion, so it wasn't easy to guess his reactions and moods right. But there was something in his eyes that just told me something good. I learned that the apple family were the ones who founded Ponyville, and that they were very generous and giving. Honestly, it was a bit much, by the end of the day I wanted to get out of their house. It just felt cramped, yet cozy all at the same time. "Thank you for everything." I said to them before I left. "Rose. Will I see you again?" Mac asked before I left. I smiled at him and nodded my head. The first bit of emotion he showed, a big smile had spread across his face. Some how I made an impact on them. I felt a bit of dread as I left their home. Once I was at my hut I felt my nerves to calm a little. Something was making me tense. I didn't figure it out until I had a small fire going for warmth. "Hello my daughter, we are glade to see you." Big Macintosh: Rose had dinner with me and my family. Turns out AJ had found her wondering the farm. I had suspected she was about, but she is good at keeping out of sight. I got preoccupied on looking for her I fell behind on my section. Rose and everyone seemed to have gotten along, which made me feel good. Something about her, I just can't explain it. It feels right to have her nearby. Never have I felt like this with another mare. Mostly just.... “You think you’re better than me? How many mares have you fucked? How many stallions have you beaten? Open your eyes you pathetic asshole, because all of you will die soon!” I thought of that kid I beaten to a bloody pulp. All because he took a hit at me for stealing his girl. “Sir?” A girl asked me from the front doors to the hospital. “You can see Black Rose.” “Thanks.” I said, after that she ducked inside quickly. Probably had freaked her out from the yelling. I walked inside, ignoring the voice as I did so. Once I was inside the same girl lead me to Rose’s room. Once we got there, she quickly hurried her way away from me. Don’t blame her, I would do the same if I saw someone yelling at no one. I opened the door and saw that Rose was still asleep. “Oh lookie, she’s dead.” The voice said laughing. Damn I was angry, but what could I do? How could I attack something that wasn’t even there? I walked up to her bedside. She looked peaceful asleep. To even think she had this thing inside of her head torturing her. How could she even live with it for this long? She was strong. “And you’re weak. I find you more fun.” “Shut up you…” I couldn’t think of anything to say. So I tried to ignore it. But like last time, it really didn’t work all that well. It still talked and talked. Didn’t even need me to respond to have it version of fun. I just tried to ignore the voice, and focus on Rose. It was much harder than you could possibly imagine. “Oh, we didn’t know someone was in here.” I turned to the door. The thing, or who I saw made my mind drop. Princess Luna was standing in the door way. She came into the room, closing the door behind her. “What are you doing here princess?” I asked bowing. “You’re such a gentlemen.” The voice said laughing. This thing had no moral respect. The princess put her hoof on me. I looked up at her, I knew I could stand. She looked upset, very upset. “When we had heard of our daughter being brought here. We couldn’t help but visit her again.” The princess’s words took me off guard. Daughter, what was she talking about. “Daughter?” I asked, she looked away from me and then at Rose. “Black Rose, it my daughter.” She said standing next to Rose. She brushed her mane away from her face. This was the first time I actually seen her whole face. The eye that was usually covered opened suddenly. It was pitch black. “What the hell?” I asked feeling creeped out. “A curse she was born with.” I never really thought the princesses having kids. The concept really didn’t make sense to me. Twilight earned her wings, quite literally. I guess if alicorns did have offspring, they would be one of the three pony kinds. “How was she born with a curse?” I asked trying to keep my distance. She was a princess, it made me feel a little uncomfortable to even be in the same room as her. “We are the princess of the night. Things are very complicated.” She said, Rose’s eye closed. That’s why she hid her eye. She held a lot of secrets. The next thing I knew, I saw Rose’s eyes shoot open. She started screaming and was flailing about. “We need help! Someone help!” I tried to restrain her. But for some reason she was impossible to hold down. “Rose! Rose, please wake up!” “Make it stop!” She screamed at the top of her lungs. That was when I realized the voice had stopped talking to me. Rose laid back passed out. After she was calm nurses and doctors started to run in. I tried to tell them that it was just a panic attack. But they kicked both the princess and myself out of the room. “Curious.” The princess said unhappy. “That was a hoot!” The voice laughed in joy. “Shut up.” I said muttering under my breath. But Princess Luna heard me. “Excuse me?” She asked looking at me with caution. “I didn’t mean you princess.” I said feeling stupid. “You were talking to the voice than?” She asked with utter seriousness that made my mind turn and spin. “You know?” I asked looking at her with disbelief. “Why yes, we gave it to her. The voice is the good inside of the curse. Odd that you can hear it.” She said looking me up and down. The whole situation was uncomfortable. Mostly because she said it was a gift. “What in Celestia’s name did you say? I’m sorry princess, but that voice is no gift.” I said feeling angery. “Mommy dearest doesn’t know herself. Oh that’s a damn good laugh.” The voice said laughing. “There is no gift, it’s all one big huge curse. All because she couldn’t hold herself togeather.” “It was her friend for year’s boy. A child of the night doesn’t give you many friends. Black Rose was given someone to even consider a friend. She lived alone for a very long time, without that voice she would have been alone.” The princess sounded like she was hurt. But she had no idea what this voice was actually doing. “Have you heard this voice yourself?” I asked giving a cross look. She looked at me confused, she really had no idea. “No we have not.” She said looking confused, she really had no idea. “I’ve heard this voice for almost four hours and it’s made me want to kill myself. Again I’m sorry princess, but you have to forgive me if I don’t believe for one second that this voice is a good thing.” The voice was laughing. It was enjoying this, obviously it had more control over the situation than anyone did. “What is the voice saying?” Princess Luna asked. “It’s laughing, enjoying all the confusion and Rose’s state.” I said feeling a headache approaching fast in my frontal lobe. “It’s been tainted, we knew we couldn’t trust him.” She said bowing her head in shame. “Him, who’s him?” I asked her, she looked at me. She looked guilty, very guilty. “We do not know his name. Just his old green eyes, he wanted to help us. But as it seems now, he did nothing to help anyone.” Princess Luna said bowing her head again. I wish I could do something to make her feel better, but I was at a lost. The voice wasn’t making anything better either. It was hard to think with so much going on in my head. “What is not clear to us, is how you can hear the voice.” She said looking at me with confusion. “Princess gets stuck on the moon and has a daughter. Talk about parent abandonment.” The voice said with a chuckle. “Princess, forgive me. But you were banished to the moon, and you have come back not too long ago. How can you have a daughter in such a short time?” She looked at me with a smile, like she knew that question was going to arise. “My daughter Black Rose is only three years old. She was born but a few days after my return. The stallion with the green eyes told us she was what was left of us from becoming nightmare moon. Something I had lost. She was the thing I forgot, the thing that made me nightmare moon. She is the rose of my life, she is the love I had lost for every pony in Equestria.” Princess Luna said not able to look me in the eye. “And her eye?” I asked trying to focus. The voice was singing an annoying song about someone dying and pie. Was trying to push what the stupid thing was saying, so I wasn’t really paying attention. “It’s the entity that lives inside of her that remains of nightmare moon. That is her curse, she is isolated because others don’t look at her like normal ponies. They feared her, yet she was such a nice pony. She grew up so fast, very fast. In a matter of three years, Black Rose had become a full grown mare.” Again the princess looked away from me in shame. “She had no memories of living in Canterlot. Who could blame her, she was bullied, and she was an outcast. She ran away, and we didn’t stop her. The only thing I could do for her was to give her a friend. One that would be there for her, obviously that was mistake.” “You did what you could princess. You were only trying to help your daughter.” Princess Luna was crying. Never saw a pony that powerful cry. “Please, if you would. Call me Luna.” She said trying to get her composure. It wasn’t really working at all. I did something a little unpractical, but once I did it she stopped crying. All I did was hug her, that’s all it took to make everything seem a little less stressful. “Luna everything will be fine, I swear to you. I’ll be there for Rose, I have to be.” She looked at me with puffy red eyes. “Why you?” She asked. “Well…she different than anyone I have ever met.” I said feeling myself blush. “You love her?” She was quite blunt, it was clear Luna didn’t have much experience with other ponies. Honestly I had no idea how I felt. But for some odd reason, I felt close to Rose. I wanted to protect her, care for her, and I just couldn’t explain why. “I do not know Luna, I really do not know.” I said honestly. What else could I say? Black Rose: “Please just stop!” I screamed as I felt something dig into my flank. I heard laughter as I screamed out in pain. “Now why would I do that? I want to make you suffer for as long as I can.” She said laughing as she moved the blade up, slowly cutting me open. I screamed as loud as I could as the pain erupted throughout my body. “Fix yourself and it will all stop.” “Fix myself.” I said in a huff. It was unbearably hard to breath. “What do you mean, fix myself?” “Figure it out you stupid little bitch.” She said hitting me across the face with her front hoof. “Please stop.” I cried out. “No.” Big Mac: Once we were let back inside, Luna and I sat by Rose’s side. It really didn’t make much sense to me. Why would she just pass out; just one second she was alive and well the next she is unconscious, and in questionable condition. “Her condition is getting worse by the second.” The voice said with a chuckle. Luna had asked me to tell her what the voice was saying. So I told her what it said. She looked at me with confusion. “We are unsure of what the voice is saying.” Luna said to me, she looked at Rose who was deathly still. “Is something happening to her that no one can see?” I asked feeling stupid for asking that. How can something be happening to someone without anybody knowing. The doctors have run every test in the book, and they came up with nothing. “It must be the curse. I wish there was more we could do for her.” “She’s dreaming, we know that; but something is stopping us from entering her dream. Whatever is inside of her head, is very powerful.” Luna was a princess, so she had god like powers. It was very worrisome when something was more powerful than her. “I heard someone talk about dreams. They said that even outside of them, the things that happen around them can affect the dream. Maybe we can bring her nightmare, into a good dream.” I said feeling defeated. We really didn’t have much to go on. The voice wasn’t really helping, if I’d ask what it meant, it would laugh at me. “We may know what might help. Stay with her Big Macintosh, we will return soon.” She said before leaving. Not quite sure where she was going. But she would know what might shock her out of this than anyone. I looked at Rose, she looked dead. Like someone who just died, lying in their coffin at their wake. I could feel tears trying to force their way out. I never really cried all that much, never felt right to cry. “Rose, please just wake up.” I said letting the tears flow. They stained the sheets of the bed. It was stupid, but I couldn't help it. I looked at her, I knew her only for such a small time. I was already losing someone who made an impact in my life. It really wasn't fare, life was not fare. Luna returned with a assortment of things. She told me they were things from her childhood. But not one thing made any difference. She didn't stir or react, she was as if she was in a coma. I stayed with her through the night. Didn't want to leave her side, it just felt wrong. So I didn't leave her side all night.
