Our Cherry Tree

It was a cold fall day in Equestria, and Applejack was pacing around the hospital waiting room, worried about what the doctor would say. Earlier that morning, her beloved brother Big Mac had been working in the field when a very large tree fell and knocked him unconscious, with blood. They rushed him to Ponyville Hospital, but didn't know if he would make it. One year before today, dear old Granny Smith had passed away. Applejack was afraid it was an omen. Apple Bloom asked her big sister if he would be alright, but Applejack had no idea. Apple Bloom still had no cutie mark, and had almost given up hope she would ever have one.

The doctor came out from behind the door and asked the sisters to please visit their brother. When they came in, the doctor informed them that there was nothing they could do, and that he could die any minute. Applejack walked up to his bed and said "Oh Big Mac, why did you have to leave so soon? You were the best big brother a pony could ask for. We're all going to miss you so much."
"Oh how I'll miss you," said Apple Bloom, "You were such a nice big brother! Goodbye."

Both sisters leaned in to hug him at once as his heart gave out.
"Good bye Big Mac!" They both said.

A week later they had a funeral for him. All his friends were there, Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Cheerilwe, Zecora, Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo, The Cakes, even Princess Celestia, and of course the Apple Family, Braeburn, the Seeds, the Oranges, the Roses, The Turniptucks. Everyone was there to say goodbye.
It was such an emotional day that to go into detail what happened there would be the most depressing thing ever read. So I'll spare you the details, however, I will tell you that it was revealed that Cheerilee had been in love with Big Mac, and they had proposed the very day before he died.

That night, Applejack couldn't sleep a wink. She kept thinking not only about how much she missed Big Mac, and not only about how her responsibilities had more than doubled now that he was gone, but also about a cherry tree. Not just any cherry tree, but a very special cherry tree that she and Big Mac had planted together when she was just a toddler, and he had just got his cutie mark. She decided that in the morning, she would look for that cherry tree.

It was breakfast time, Applejack was in charge of making something for Apple Bloom to eat. But she was in a hurry. She grabbed two apples, chopped then up, and sprinkled them with cinnamon. Then she put them on a plate, and set it on the table for Apple Bloom.
"Here's your breakfast Apple Bloom."
"Are you alright Apple Jack? You seem a bit, jumpy..."
"Jumpy? Nah, I just didn't sleep well last night, you know, over stress."
"Alright. Aren't you going to fix yourself something?"
"Nah, I'm not that hungry, got lots of work to get to."
"You really should eat something, you always told me not to skip breakfast if you wanted to get work done."
"Your right, I guess I should eat something."

Applejack grabbed an apple and headed out the door. She walked for half an hour before she finally found the remote area of the farm where her and Big Mac played when they were very young. Before Applejack had built the clubhouse she passed on to Apple Bloom and the Cutie Mark Crusaders, she and Big Mac had a clubhouse way out here. Granny Smith told them to stop playing out here in this part of the farm, because it was so far away, and because it wasn't safe.
It had been many years since Applejack had even visited this part of the farm, and she didn't know if the club house was even still here. It was, it was very run down, but still here. She walked past a small grove of trees, and there it was. The cherry tree she and Big Mac planted together. It was hardly even full grown when Applejack last saw it, but it was bigger than she ever imagined now.

Applejack starred at the tree, and memories flooded back to her from when she and her brother were young. Tears came to her eyes. "Oh Big Mac!" she said.
Suddenly, she knew what she must do...

"I must chop it down."

She grabbed an ax from an abandoned old tool shed just a little ways away. Quickly she chopped it down. As it fell to the ground cherry syrup spilled out of it like blood. (You did know Equestrian cherry trees were filled with cherry syrup, right?)

"Applejack! What are you doing?"

Applejack turned around, and saw her sister starring in horror.
"I just had to do it..."
"Why?"
"Without Big Mac, there is no reason for our cherry tree."
Applejack picked up the ax, and before Apple Bloom had a chance to speak, Applejack chopped off her own left arm.
"Applejack! Why did you do that?" Apple Bloom screamed.
"It was just like our cherry tree... And so are you!"
Applejack swung the ax at her sister until it knocked her out.

Apple Bloom woke up dazed and confused, and almost entirely wrapped in gauze, exept for her eyes. In front of her was Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle. The doctor walked in.
"It seems your sister has slashed off your limbs, and injured you face enough that you need to wear bandages over most of it for a while. Don't worry about her, we sent her off to the Home For Crazed, Idiot Rednecks. You are going to be relocated to Manehatten, to live with your relatives the Seeds."

"It will be okay Apple Bloom," Scootaloo said, "We'll still be pen pals."
"Yeah," said Sweetie Belle, "You get to live with Babs! Won't that be nice? Oh, sorry about your limbs I'm sure you can live without them."

"Oh I almost forgot!" said the doctor, "As we were wrapping you up, your cutie mark appeared."
He peeled away part of the gauze to reveal a cutie mark of a pony without limbs.
"Isn't this exciting?" said Pinkie Pie, "You get a really cute new nickname! Torsogirl!"

And that's how it happened. Apple Bloom's life sucked, but what are you going to do? Especially when I, Discord am narrating.

The End.
