On The Swings: A True Story (Sort of)
One Morning...
Load Full StoryI was under my covers, thinking about my favorite show.
Apple Jack, the honest earth pony, Rarity, the beautiful and generous unicorn, Pinkie Pie, a party extrordinare, Flutter Shy, a kind animal person, Rainbow Dash, the awesome pegasus, and Twilight Sparkle, the unicorn - actually, she's an alicorn now - that knows about the magic of friendship. All six are my favorite, and they all have a special part to play. They are all special, they-
"Pinkie Shy, get out and get some excersize!" my mom called.Believe me, I am in NO mood to got out and get some fresh air right now, because 1. I'm thinking about me favorite show, and 2. I am so tired I want to go right back to sleep. But I got to admit, she's right; I do need to get some excersize.I lived my live by playing computer games and etc.I've rarely took even a step outside, and who knows what else is out there?
I rolled myself out of bed and scooted myself downstairs and saw my mom with a blueberry bagel at the front door. She gave me the bagel and told me I must at least go out for and hour. She opened the door, pushed me out, and closed the door, locking everything in the house.I could tell because of the noises I could hear.
Well, plan A backfired (plan A was to go inside the house by a window or something), it's time for plan B.So now I have to do what my mom said.I sighed and walked away, dragging myself to the only place I could at least enjoy a little: the park.
I sat on the end of the slide and thought about My Little Pony.I wondered what was going to happen next in season four.I wondered what the spell in Magical Mystery Cure was for.I wondered if someone else would take Princess Twilight's place to control the element Magic.I wondered for about 10 minutes, but I couldn't anymore because of all the distractions nearby.I had to think somewhere else.
The rest of the park-things weren't very helpful, either. The spinning thing didn't work, cause I keep on accidently spinning on it, and the monkey bars weren't much help, either, because I keep on getting paranoid that I might fall on the ground. The benches sort of worked, but it was so quiet I would consider is silent, and it scared me.So I had to cross it out of my list. All of the other things weren't very helpful.
I had to face that I couldn't think about MLP:FiM, so I just looked around the playground to find something to do.
And what did I choose? The swings, of course, because it's fun to "fly" up high in them, and you can practically see most of everything around you.I immediately ran to them and rode on them as high as I can.It was fun. After twenty minutes, I heard a voice behind me.It said,"You ride the swings so high, It looks like you're flying without 'em.Nice!" I screeched the swing to a stop.I looked behind me, and it was the one and only Rainbow Dash!"Aw, you were just about to flip.Sorry, my fault." She smiled."And I bet a billion bits you know who I am."
Of course I knew."You're Rainbow Dash!" I tackled the famous pegasus with a hug."It's nice to meet you!Wait, no, it's not nice, it's BETTER than nice! It's AWESOME to meet you!"
Rainbow Dash smiled even more, although winced a little because I was hugging her so hard."Whoa, calm down, kid!" She pried me off of her, which was sort of difficult."Speaking of awesome, it was so cool how you were going to flip with the swing.Too bad I messed it up.I should've kept my distance." She chuckled, and said something I would never forget (unless someone says something better). She said,"It seemed so much like you were gonna fly.I could teach you, if you want." She waited patiently for a response, since I was gaping at the idea.Half a minute later, I replied,"You really CAN????"
"Sure I can," R.D. said. She smiled when I fell down laughing and when I said,"YOU CAN'T DO THAT!!" I was pretty sure she was smiling because I laughed almost exactly like her, though.
"Well, I can give you a choice," she remarked."You could either turn away from me and go with it alone, or you can get lessons from the awesome," - she made an awesome pose - ,"Rainbow Dash. So, whaddya say, fan of mine?"
I still didn't think Rainbow could help make me fly for real.I was born as an earth pony, nothing else.Still, I knew I am not Rainbow Dash, and who knows, maybe she can make me fly. She's really awesome, y'know.
"OK, I'll take it," I accepted.I settled myself on the swings and waited for directions.
"Before we can start though," Rainbow Dash said,"you don't always get things right the first time, so we might not get it in the start.Anyways, ready?" She held back the swing's chains (yes, they were made out of chains) and glanced at me.
Before I could say anything, she released the chains and I was swinging high in the sky.I had a tense feeling on both of my arms and was almost flung out of my seat because I was not expecting her to start two seconds early."What - do - I - do - now!?" I asked, thinking Rainbow Dash wouldn't hear me completely if I said it all at once.
"Now you have to jump out of your seat when the swing has reached it's certain point," Rainbow Dash replied."You know what that 'certain point' is, do you?"
Of course I do.Why wouldn't I?"Duh, yeah." I waited for that "certain point" and tossed myself off of the swings.I flapped my arms wildly, and the next thing I noticed, I was in the sky.
"OMG I DID IT I DID IT I DID IT I -" Didn't do it.The next thing I had to do was land on the sand and have the rainbow-maned pony ("No, pegasus, not pony," Rainbow Dash said as I tried to speak with my mouth full of sand.) helped me barf the sand out.Not a pretty sight to see, and other ponies were going in the bathrooms to barf themselves.
After a few minutes of puking sand, cleaning my mouth with water, and other things I should not mention, I was back on the swings again.
"Now," Rainbow Dash suggested,"you should flap your arms slowly. That's what most filly pegasi do, and you aren't used to flying.Just ask Flutter Shy if you need advice on flapping your wings slowly." She snickered."Well, what are you waiting for?Get to it!" She pulled back the chains and released them, and this time I was all right.I waited for the right time and the "certain point", then hopped out of my seat, then flapping my arms slowly.I was in the air a bit longer than before, but I failed again, and ended up on the ground.Fortunately, I went farther than before, so I didn't land on the sand.Unfortunately, I landed in a place where there were a bunch of pebbles, so I ended up with a mouth full of little rocks. And again the others around me had to vomit themselves. And again in the bathroom. Now I am thinking Rainbow Dash was just scamming me.
No, I thought, shaking the idea out of my head, Rainbow said that we don't always get things right in the first time. And, of course, we sometimes don't get victory in the second or third time, either.I have to try again. After another piece of advice and other requiring things, I flung myself to the sky and flapped my arms slowly.I was up in the air long enough for me to think I successfully can fly.
"RAINBOW, LOOK A' ME!" I shouted like a filly that wanted to show her parent what she could do.I can now fly, I can stand on the clouds, I can see the world above, I can-
CRASH!Oh great. My name has changed from Pinkie Shy to Pinkie Shit, now that I have landed in a garbage can.I bet a million bits that you know what happened next.
"Look," Rainbow Dash pointed out,"it had been just morning that you have been here. Now it's almost sunset." She was right. The sun was slowly setting, and the clouds were slightly pink-ish.
"Awwwwww, but I want to stay here to keep on practicing!" But I knew that it would be impossible to be able to fly before Princess Luna raises the moon.Besides, what else could I do?Threaten Princess Celestia that I will kill her if she doesn't raise the sun back up?Nah, that wouldn't happen.I don't want to be thrown in prison by that.
"Let's do one more, 'kay, kid?" The blue pegasus said. She pulled back the chains and let me do my thing.
While I was waiting for my chance I wondered: I can't wait for tomorrow.I have to fly today.Maybe I just need to believe.Maybe, just maybe...
I closed my eyes and did the routine.Jump.Flap.Complete.I kept shutting my eyes, thinking that I might be in heaven because I died from having too much dirt in my mouth. Why?Because I couldn't feel the ground.
But in a fair distance, I heard a familiar voice yelling,"YOU DID IT!YOU DID IT!YOU ACTUALLY, TRULY, FREAKING DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
OK, maybe that wasn't yelling, but it was screaming.I slightly aloud my eyes to open, and when I realized I was flying, I was screaming as loud as Rainbow Dash was."I DID IT!I DID IT!I ACTUALLY DID IT!!!!!" I calmed down half a minute later, and was soon down on the ground. And I was deeper in the ground when R.D. squeezed me.
"OMG YOU DID AN AWESOME JOB, PINKIE!" she squealed."YOU EVEN KNEW HOW TO LAND ON THE GROUND WITHOUT MY HELP!!" Now it was my turn to wince in pain a little bit.I even had to pry her arms off of me, and believe me, I couldn't accomplish that task easily. When I finally took off the last arm, I said,"Well, I have to go home now.Bye, and thanks for helping me fly!" We both waved farewell to each other and traveled home.
While I was going home, I tested to see if I could fly without jumping off of a tree or something.Well, I couldn't, but I could when I jump off of a thing that wasn't near the ground.
"I'm home, mom!" I greeted when I touched my house. My mom was smiling, but had an astonished look on her face. She asked,"Honey, you were out for so long! Was exercising fun?"
"Well," I said,"I'd be happy to show you something first before I could explain something about it." I smiled.Mom's sure going to flip!
