The king and his miners and the hero(brine)
“Hiiiiiiiiiiisssssssssssssssssssssssss.” It walked to the giant wall that had been erected during the night. Craning its unshapely head upwards it counted it to be a few dozen feet. Walking alongside the wall it reached a corner, turning the corner it reached another. And another. And another. And another.
“Hurry up son.”
“Dad I can’t get a good shot if you keep egging me on.” The green monstrosity looked upwards to see two things. Invaders of its home.
“HHHHIIIIIII“ Drawing its bow the larger of the two shoot an arrow into its eye. The green monster caught flame and was flung back several feet. It hopped back towards the wall only to burn to a crisp before it even came close.
The young one looked up at his dad. “Oh come on dad! How am I supposed to learn to shoot a bow if you keep shooting all the targets?” Sighing he put his bow away but continued to look at his dad.
Smiling he ruffled his son’s head. “Don’t you worry lillun, you’ll get your chance someday.”
The child pushed his dad’s hand away and pulled his hair back the way he liked it. “Quit it dad! You’re messing up my hair.”
“Alright how ‘bout this son, we’ll go home and get some steak and cake?”
“Add some cookies and you have yourself a deal dad!”
Smiling he shook his head. “You and your cookies son.” Smiling his son looked back up at him. Indicating with his head they walked to the wall. The dad holding out his right hand conjured forth his pickaxe and dug through it, leaving a space just big enough for him and his son to get through. Once his son came through he put the cobblestone back in its place, sealing the wall back together.
Together they got back on the gravel road that was built many, many years ago. Walking past the trees and flowers they kept their eyes open for any more creepers, seeing as how it was thankfully still daylight and no other monsters came out at this time.
Catching sight of his home the child looked back at his dad and yelled at him, “Race ya back to the castle!” Watching his son run ahead of him he chuckled and ran after him.
Together they ran towards the entrance of the castle, neither of them paid attention to the decorated gardens, iron golems, houses or farms which was understandable seeing as how they had passed by it many times before and in the father’s case helped build all of it.
Leaping up the flights of stairs by two steps at a time the son reached the castle gate first. “First!”
Panting the father was right behind him. “I’m getting to *hah* old for this.”
Walking into the castle foyer filled with various paintings, and other decorations, he turned back to his dad continuing to walk towards the kitchen. “Dad you’re not that old.”
Looking back down at his son he asked him, “And two millennia isn’t old?”
“No! Now five millennia is! I mean just look at Steve!”
“Heh I suppose he is. Now come on I remember that I promised you some food.” Yelling with delight the child ran to the kitchen. Deciding to walk he followed his child. When he arrived there his son was already putting the plates and food on the table.
Glancing around the room something wasn’t right. Taking a long hard look at the kitchen he saw nothing amiss. The window was still there, there wasn’t a creeper staring inside through it either. No skeletons in the closet, no zombies in the freezer, the weird egg thing from the enderdragon was still in its display case by the fridge.
“Hey dad somebody left out a book for you.” Turning around he saw his son holding up the one thing that was amiss, mumbling a thank you to his son, he flipped the book open.
'Dear Minutor you can find me and the others down in the mines we marked the path we took with redstone torches. Apparently Steve found a working portal. Not a nether portal or a ender portal. Apparently it’s not even a stone we’ve found before. Signed the King.
P.S you might want to leave Certus Iaculat up there in the castle.' Minutor looked back at his son then back at the book.
“Certus.”
Looking up from his plate at his dad he said something along the lines of “yes” though Minutor couldn’t be sure. “I need you to stay here son.” Certus was about to say something until he interrupted him. “Look I’ll make up for it later just please listen to me for once.” His son rolled his eyes and went back to eating.
Putting the book back on the counter he went to the armory to get better equipment because you never know what you’ll meet in a new world. Opening up the chest he rummaged for the particular set he had fought the enderdragon with. He did love those, even if the other said it was stupid to just keep repairing the same set when it would take less to make a new one.
“A-Ha!” Grabbing the armor set he pulled it out. He put on his armor and grabbed Ol’glory, his one and only sword. Leaping down entire sets of stairs he hurried to the mines.
After a few minutes he hit cobblestone, turning his head up he looked around for the redstone torches that he was told to look for. Seeing one he ran down the hallway it indicated. Running , he saw another. And another. And another. Following the redstone torches he eventually reached an area of the mine he was not familiar with, letting him know that he was on the right track. Slowing down since he never had been in this part of the mines before, he pulled out his sword and kept following the redstone torches like he was told. Up ahead he could make out a silhouette of a person, or skeleton. Slowing down he held out his right hand to conjure his sword until he heard it speak.
“For the love of the creator what did you do? Stop to make another mansion?” Lowering his sword as the silhouette came into the light he smiled. Stepping out of the shadows was a warrior of incalculable magnitude, with his light blue shirt and dark blue pants -with hundreds of scars hidden by said garments. His friend Steve.
“Well somebody left the entire front gate open. Again.”
Shrugging his shoulders he gestured behind himself. “The king and others are down here. Though King didn’t want to send anyone through yet seeing as how you’re supposed to be the philosophical one.”
Rolling his eyes Minutor walked on past Steve. “Probably because he’s smart unlike you.”
Following Minutor, Steve cast his gaze behind himself before turning it back forward. “Oh shut up and hurry up.”
Picking up the pace they ran down farther into the mines, slaying the few skeletons that still lingered down there.
After several minutes of running they finally reached a point of the mine where they could see a light glowing from up ahead. Slowing down because of the sudden change in light, Minutor brought his hand up to cover his eyes. Continuing on, Steve entered the lighted chamber.
Following close behind Minutor was able to eventually lower his hands giving him a view of the chamber. Following the unnatural formation of the ceiling with his eyes, he could see it sloping slowly downwards to the outside part of the chamber. The outside of the chamber was lined with different types stone turning from the super light white, to blood red, then to a deep soulless black.
“Pretty interesting chamber huh?” He tore his gaze from the walls, towards the center of the chamber. His eyes passed right over the King, Silva his wife, and his other friends, to rest on the strange portal located in the middle, on top of a mound of netherrack. The four bottom blocks were black like the nether portal; two on each side were that of the ender. But the weirdest thing was the top four blocks. They were unlike any other type of block he’d ever seen before, constantly changing between a light grey to a black, it seemed as if they absorbed the light. Then the portal itself glowed a blood red.
“So what do you make of it Minutor?” Looking towards the one who spoke he looked at the King, and then he looked back at the portal. Minutor walked up to the portal and slowly rubbed his hand over the surface.
“The parts that look like the ender and nether portal feel like it. Though I have no idea what these stones are, they’re as smooth as glass.” Backing away from the portal he looked at his king.
“Anyone’s guess is as good as mine. The only way to find out what this is, is to go through it. And I doubt anyone wants to go through.”
Scratching his chin King thought about it. A new type of stone and portal…. It could lead to many unknowns. New riches, material to craft with or something else. But then were the dangerous unknowns. New monsters, poisonous plants, or it could even be HIS home.
“My liege we all await your answer.” Said his personal bodyguard PauseUnpause.
“One minute I need to think this out………….. Okay how many of you want to see what’s on the other side of the portal?” Three hands were raised into the air, Steve’s were among them.
“Okay I want you three to head in, scout the area, let us know what’s on the other side, stay away from any unknown creatures and the sorts.” A series of nods came from in front of him. “Alright I want you back in three days time understood?”
“Eeyup.”
“Yeah.”
“Yes.”
Together the warrior, the archer, and the builder vanished into the portal. Walking up next to the king Minutor whispered into his ear. “Are you sure that was the right choice.”
Leonidas sighed. “I certainly hope so Minutor. I certainly hope so.”

He gazed down on the enderman that had dared to rebel against HIM. This was HIS home, HIS kingdom, and to think anything else was to die, HE looked around the chamber which was littered with the bodies of the rebels who dared to try to kill HIM.
Hearing a door creak open HE brought his broken pickaxe up, in case there were more rebels outside. A single fleshless head poked its way through the old rotten wooden door. It gazed at the bodies surrounding HIM, with its soulless eyes. It then remembered why it had come here in the first place.
Stepping out from behind the door stood a skeleton knight, ten feet tall wearing the skull of the whither itself. It walked up to HIM and handed him a scroll. Looking first at the scroll then back at the one who was holding it he took it. HE read it and said only four words. “Send the mutant creeper.”
Nodding its head the skeleton left to carry out its lord’s whim. Closing the door it didn’t notice the blood dripping from HIS hand.

Tumbling out first Steve quickly regained his footing and brought his sword to bear. Seeing nothing he looked back at the portal, waiting for his friends to tumble out. He soon got his wish. One brown mass and a pale white mass came out tumbling together in a bundle.
“Get your foot outta my face ya freak!”
“How dare you talk to a lady like that!”
“You ain’t no lady! You’re a freak!” Rolling his eyes Steve walked over to the brown and white mass and kicked the brown part. “OI! The bloody ‘ell was that for!” Untangling himself from the bundle Templa pointed his finger at Steve accusingly. With his black shirt, grey pants and scar running down the right side of his face he would’ve been a menacing sight if it weren’t for the fact he wasn’t all that much of a warrior compared to Steve.
“There’s a reason we’re here keep that in mind will ya. Silva do you need a hand?”
The remaining white piece of the bundle stood up to reveal a women that seemed to be quite cute and weak, with her left side of her face hidden by her hair and light white shirt and pants. And in fact she was weak only as long as you didn’t piss her off. Dusting herself off she gave Templa a menacing glance before shaking her head. “No I’ll be fine if the idiot doesn’t trip over his own feet again.”
“Enough!” Steve snarled. “We’re here to figure out what this portal is not to piss each other off! So if you two are going to have a problem then go back into the portal and I’ll look around here myself.”
Templa and Silva looked at each other before they both sighed. Templa was the first to speak. “Fine fine. Just don’t get all pissy, not just my fault ya’know.” Getting a set of rolling eyes from Silva he just shrugged.
Turning back to Steve he asked. “So where to?”
Steve glanced around the chamber which they had appeared in. There was no roof above them, the pieces that were still there were taken over by vines. In front of them was what appeared to be a altar with five empty spots, that looked like they were supposed to hold something.
That’s when he noticed something. “Hey you two. Are you guys seeing what I’m seeing?”
Templa walked up next to him. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
Pointing his finger at the altar he said the one thing which was unthinkable. “Curves.”

Templa ran his fingers along the rough stone wall, mesmerized by the new feeling. Silva was currently sitting on top of what was left of the roof just kicking her legs. While Steve was walking on the outside part of the gorge, in the sunlight, trying to see the bottom.
He peeked over the edge which had unnaturally rough sides. Nature was cubes, but this place… curves nothing but curves. He sighed looking at the other side of the chasm, for there was part of a bridge but it had collapsed. But what would one expect when you make it out of sticks and not stone? Walking back inside the ruined castle as he now recognized it he conjured a pickaxe from his left hand.
Flipping it in his hand he struck it against a piece of the stone wall still intact, as soon as he did it was absorbed like the stones back home, despite the major differences in the structure. “What yah doing?” He turned around to see Templa staring over his shoulder.
“Checking to make sure we can still use our abilities. While I’m thinking about it I need you to fix up this dump of a castle.”
“Well ah did have a few ideas to fix this place up, maybe some obsidian here an’ a cannon there…” Templa walked off talking to himself about what he was going to do to the castle.
“And what are you going to do Steve?” Looking up he saw Silva peering down at him, from her perch on the roof.
“Seeing as how I’m the most proficient warrior here I thought it would be best I explore first.”
“And what am I going to do?”
Pointing at Templa who was already working on the castle he said, “You know how he gets when he starts building I need you to make sure nothing kills him while he’s busy.” She nodded her head.
“Okay make sure the idiot doesn’t get stabbed in the back. Got it.” She pushed herself up and walked out of sight still on the roof. Steve walked back outside
Taking out a few pieces of cobblestone he always carries with him, you never know what you’re going to need in a new world, he put it on the edge of the chasm. Just for the piece of dirt it had been attached to fall off the edge with the cobblestone.
“Go figure.” Walking back a few paces he put the cobblestone on solid ground, a perfect 10 feet away from the edge to make sure act like gravel again. After waiting a few seconds to make sure it didn’t fall to who knows where he added onto it piece by piece. When he finally looked up he had made a single block bridge across the chasm. Wouldn’t win the creativity award, but it got the job done.
Stepping off the block he gazed at his surroundings, which consisted of curved trees, a uneven gorge, and curved stones the size of boulders. He took a step forward just to, fall on his face. Rolling onto his side he looked at what had tripped him, to see a glittering stone no bigger than his fist. Pushing himself up to sit on his backside, he picked it up and rolled it around in his hands feeling it. Unlike other things around here it was smooth, curved but smooth.
He put it in his pocket and stood back up, continuing his trek into the curved forest. After a while he found a gravel road, deciding that it might be a village or something he followed it. Following the grey road he passed by many more trees and plants which he had never seen before, he thought it would be better not to touch them never know if they’re poisonous like that one potato. Damned potato, he was starving when he ate that, poison and an empty stomach does not mix.
Face meets ground.
“Freaking forest.” He flipped onto his back to see what tripped him this time, and it looked like a mini-tree. Standing back up and turning back to the road he saw a break in the tree line. He ran right for it, when he got outside of the forest though he had to block his eyes from the sunlight, for he just now realized how dark it was in there.
Taking a look around he saw a simple village ahead like he thought, but he also saw a house to his left brimming with creatures. Smiling he brought out his sword and walked towards it, his sword gleaming in the sunlight.
As he approached it the creatures ran away at the mere sight of him, he raised his eyebrow and approached the door to the house, which he would barely be able to fit into if he were to use traditional means. Which he doesn’t, raising his foot to kick it down he stopped as something pelted him in the face. He looked down in the direction of what had hit him.
It looked like a miniature cow thing, with huge ears and a curved head like everything else around here. It picked up another rock and threw it at him, shifting his blade to block it he absorbed a block of dirt and kicked the creature into the hole. With it effectively taken care of he turned his attention back to the door. He rose his foot and kicked it down.
Ducking underneath to avoid banging his head on the wood holding the building up, he cast his eyes around the makeshift home. He looked at the bookcases and tables, along the many tiny holes inside seeing nothing important in this part he looked around for something else important, that’s when he noticed the stairs.
“How the hell…… this is too much of a small house for stairs.” Walking over to the stairs he walked or to be more descriptive crawled up them. Reaching the second floor he went for the one door that was open he walked into it. Finding some bookshelves he dug through them seeing if there was anything he could read, sometimes he or the others found quests with villagers asking for help. Throwing the last book aside he sighed. “Fucking…. wonder if there’s anything else outside.”
Going back down the stairs he looked around one last time to make sure there wasn’t anything useful lying around, which there wasn’t, rubbing his temples he stepped back outside. Leaning against the outside portion of the house he thought about his predicament. Normally in a new land like this there’d be something to do. The Overworld you’d just build and build and occasionally find a village and do a quest. The nether you fight the whither. And the Ender they took care of the enderdragon a long time ago. But here no books, well at least no way to read it. No flying monsters, in fact looking back up he noticed that not a single monster had appeared.
Looking back down at the ground he absentmindedly put his left hand into his pocket and rolled the round stone he had found in his hand. While he was deep in though he was jolted by the sound of something clearing its throat. Snapping his head back up and dropping into a combat stance he gave the creatures that had somehow snuck up on him a one over.
The one thing each of them had in common was the fact that they each walked on four legs like most animals from home. But unlike the animals back home which stayed to one color, except for the sheep, these ones were each and every color imaginable. And unlike the animals back home which showed no intelligence in their eyes, these ones showed intelligence in their eyes, and they were pissed… well all the ones except the butter colored one hiding behind the blue colored one.
That’s when he noticed the white thing with the giant ears from before waving at him with a smirk on its face. Blinking his eyes twice because of the fact it was grinning at him he stared at it before cursing under his breath. “Damn white thing.” Turning back towards the other six larger and more impressive creatures he waited for them to make a move.
The creatures in turn just watched him, the purple one closest to him, leaned towards the others and started talking in whatever language it had.
Seeing as how they made no aggressive moves against him he took the opportunity to get a better look at them. The blue and butter ones both had wings, so they could be like bats or ghasts. Turning towards the white one he saw a horn, looked like it was sharp enough to hurt him keeping that in mind he turned towards the purple one. It had both the wings and the horn, it was probably the pack leader. Lastly he turned towards the orange and pink one. Neither of them had anything impressive though both had muscles that looked thick enough to break his armor, he also noted how the pink one was bouncing in place. He noted that as mildly disturbing.
While he was doing this the others had finished speaking to each other. Taking step towards him the purple one took a deep breath and said something smiling. Taking a step back because of the fact that nothing except the other people had smiled he looked at the creatures and then at the forest which he had came out of. Taking note of the creatures’ wings and the fact that they would probably outrun him he conjured out an enderpearl and threw it. But not before he noticed the shocked looks on the creatures faces before he teleported to the spot where he threw the pearl.
Appearing on the edge of a cliff close to the castle which they had commandeered, he hunched over clutching his gut to keep from throwing up. Standing back up he looked at the castle impressed with the new look. Jumping off the edge he landed with barely a noise. Running to the castle’s new cobblestone 4x5 bridge he went across it. Slowing down to a stop in front of the new door, he pushed the button next to it and slid inside.
“You like what ah don’ with the place?” Looking up Steve noticed Templa waving at him from above on a bridge. Noticing the look on Steve’s face he asked. “What’s with the long face pardner?”
“We have incoming.”

Tumbling out of a dark red portal the green monstrosity looked around with its snake like head. Hissing it looked up at the sky, being blinded by the sun, it tumbled backwards into a forest. Shaking its head it sniffed the air and found its targets scent . Spewing out miniature versions of itself to accompany it, it started the long walk to its targets to carry out its master’s orders.
