I stared wistfully out the window, watching the sky cry for her...I wonder how she is doing up there. The thunder is quiet and almost sounds...happy...is she laughing?
"It's true some days are dark and lonely...and maybe you feel sad, but Pinkie will be there to show you that it isn't that bad."
I turned around...Where did that sound come from? Before I could process the pink blur I saw in front of me, a cloud of confetti shot me in the face.
"Pinkie. What are you doing in my house?" I asked. She giggled.
"I could feel your sad all the way from Sugarcube Corner, silly! Tell Auntie Pinkie Pie what's making you feel down, Static! I'll make everything okay!"
"Pinkie...it won't ever be okay." I replied softly.
"What happened? Did you lose something?" She was so clueless. I lost something, alright. Something near and dear to me. I completely lost it.
“PINKIE! SHE’S DEAD! SHE’S FUCKING DEAD!” I screamed at her. She stepped back, getting stung by my blue sparks. I was somewhat alarmed; I had never produced sparks that powerful before in my life. They kept coming, getting larger and more relentless. They lashed at Pinkie like jagged tendrils of light.
“Hey! Easy does it there, Static!” said Pinkie, still giggling like a child. This was infuriating. Was life just some kid’s game to her? I lost all control.
All of my anger, pain, and sorrow channeled into the largest bolt of electricity I had ever produced, no, the largest bolt I’d ever seen. It swallowed up Pinkie, blackened her, and threw her across the room. After taking a few deep breaths, I had finally realized how seriously I may have damaged her.
“Pinkie! PINKIE! Oh, Celestia…I’m so sorry!” I started to cry again, realizing I may have lost someone else close to me. She looked at me with a glazed, blank stare. Just when I was about to panic thinking I had killed a pony, I watched as her eyes followed my movement. She was simply paralyzed; hopefully temporarily.
After a few silent moments, Pinkie began to speak.
“What…what do you mean, she’s dead? What does that mean?” said Pinkie. My heart dropped. Here I was, having to explain death to one of the most innocent and joyful ponies in Equestria. I sighed, realizing the news would come to her sooner or later. I couldn’t sugarcoat things for her.
“Imagine that…Twilight Sparkle had to leave Equestria-”
“Oh my gosh! I’d wait sooooo impatiently for her to come back! And then we’d have the biggest party ever with games and CAKE! And then maybe we’d-”
“PINKIE.” I said sternly. She silenced herself immediately. “No. I mean if she’d never ever be able to come back…” Pinkie looked at me strangely.
“Well, duhh, I’d send her letters and packages with CAKE!” said Pinkie. I couldn’t believe how naïve this pony was.
“Pinkie…if she left, never to come back. You could never talk to her again in any way, shape or form. She’d be GONE.” I said sternly, trying to hold back tears. “And you never got to really know her…” Pinkie looked at me with horror.
“I…I would be so unhappy….” said Pinkie. I had lost it. I continued on, probably way longer than I should have.
“Even better. What if her body was buried deeeeeep underground. Her body that will never speak, laugh, smile, feel, or LIVE again? THAT’S WHAT IT MEANS TO BE DEAD, PINKIE. WE’RE ALL GONNA BE DEAD SOMEDAY.” I yelled straight in her face. I watched her muscles relax; the paralysis had lost its effect. “Who knows when we’re gonna die? It could happen at any second. Life isn’t perfect or endless like you think, you stupid child. Okay? Life is just cruel.” Pinkie just stared at me for a second, a little tear flowing down her cheek. This was the first time I had ever seen her cry like a real creature.
“Oh…” said Pinkie. She wiped away her tear and smiled. She carefully walked towards me, backing me into a corner.
“Pinkie, what are you-”
SLAM.
She tackled me to the ground, holding me down with her surprisingly strong hooves. I could feel myself gathering static particles in distress. Her smile softened as she held on tight to my horn, letting the sparks burn her flesh.
“If I’m gonna die anyways, why should I stay alive? Why…why should I even try to be happy? If it’s all going to come to an end…”
“Stop! This isn’t what I meant…please, let go of me, this is really dangerous!” Pinkie was still smiling.
“Is there really a purpose to us being here? If we’re just put here to inevitably die…why don’t you come with me, Static? We can fulfill our ultimate purpose…”
“No! I take back what I said, that’s not how severe death is, please, you’re making a huge mistake!” I pleaded and begged for her to release me, but she let out a screech and forced my mouth shut with her hoof.
“Thanks for trying to convince me to stay…but I’m not going to waste any more time trying to escape an inevitable end! I might as well go on my own initiative…” said Pinkie. I could see the light of my sparks reflected in her teary eyes. I had no idea how deep Pinkie could be, under all of her childish simplicity. I couldn’t speak, so all I could do was struggle and try to throw her off.
That sickening feeling shot through my body; the conduction. Though I managed to throw Pinkie off of me, I didn’t manage to stop the electricity from shooting through her body. I looked down at her twitching corpse, frozen in a teary-eyed smile forever. Her mane and fur were changed from a playful pink to somber gray. I couldn’t believe it. I murdered a pony’s outlook on life, then I actually took her life. I hung my head, preparing to mourn for another lost pony’s life…
