In the halls, a man was alone
In these halls, the man had a home
With fire at his fingers, a thought lingered
'Is this really what life could be?'
With a clap of his hands our hero did ran
For a beast was trying to flee
A three-link chain on each wrist with wrench in hand. Blue veins, burnt or frosted skin. Iron on his hip, bolts in his bag, and shells in a pack. All of this make for a worthy foe. Still as a tree he'd vanish from sight, and turn your head he'd knock it off.
Jack walked down the darkened halls of Rapture, they were all the same. His only source of light were the blue flames at his fingertips. The ground was wet, the water rose above his ankles. His breath fogged the air around him. It was cold, unnaturally cold. He stopped when he heard a second pair of feet around the corner. After being still for mere moments he became nearly invisible due to a tonic he picked up off of a Spider Splicer. The source of the second pair turned the corner, a Houdini Splicer, Jack grasped his trusted wrench and raised it high before bringing it down hard. Before he himself dropped, the Splicer dropped a vial that fluctuated colors rapidly. The echo of the Splicer's cracked skull rang around Jack when he picked up the vial. A plasmid? With no other thing to keep him busy, he drew an empty Hypo needle and filled it with the multicolored fluid. He gave it another look before jabbing it into his wrist and forcing the plunger down. Little did he know, another group from this oceanic paradise had also used this same plasmid.
It burned
Oh lord how it burned.
Jack clutched his wrist and fell to his knees, hundreds of images filled his mind, sounds deafened him and he felt as if he had been set aflame. A weak gaze would find his own two hands missing from view, quickly draining away to the shoulders and farther until suddenly, without warning or preparation, he was gone.
~~Ponyville, Tuesday, 2PM~~
Twilight had decided that the day was nice enough to do some reading outside instead of in the library. She sat quietly at the Sugar Cube Corner with the latest Daring Do book, she had two copies but only kept one for herself. The other was for Rainbow Dash. It was a particularly cool day for it being the middle of summer, the skies were cloudy and a light breeze caused the shop's sign to swing and creak on it's rusty joints. Twilight's attention was ripped from the riveting chapter by a small, thin Pegasus colt by the name of Featherweight announcing the latest newspaper column's headline. The specifics went unheard and she could only make out some key words. The key words being "attack", "rain", and "fire". There was a group of heinous creatures camped out in the Everfree that attacked passerby's. Had the decided to attack a town?
"Twilight! You're outside? Did you blow up your house?" Rainbow joked. Twilight glared at her. "Relax. It's a nice day, huh?"
"Yes, it is, it feels nice. Did you here about those creatures? I think they attacked something again." Twilight magically pulled up a chair for her friend. Rainbow took the seat and produced a newspaper out of no where and passed it to Twilight.
"They foalnapped some fillies and killed seven guards in Manehatten. It sucks, no one can find them or the thing they want! Who the hay is Adam anyways? Celestia knows what they're doing to the foals." Rainbow sounded distraught. "Last I heard there's hundreds of them scattered all over Equestria."
"I sure hope that's gossip, a group of guards had trouble taking one down. Poor Morning Dew still can't use his fore-hooves properly. Thanks to him we were able to get a corpse to study. I've only seen it once though, and you know what? If Lyra knew what it's ancestors were she'd never shut up. It comes from humans, you know, those creatures in the stories mothers tell their foals? The things are incredibly evolved descendants." Twilight whispered.
"You serious? Those things have been gone for ages! Even before Luna's banishment! Why have they returned?" Rainbow's eyes widened. Humans were a confusing creature in Equestria when they were still there, calm one minute, killing each other the next, stopping, again and again until they were banished into Luna's sky.
"I don't know, but if it's Adam they want then Adam we'll find. Odd name for a pony, he or she should be easy to find." Twilight shrugged. She put her bookmark between the two pages of the Daring Do book and placed it in her saddle bag. "You want to go get some lunch? I've got nothing else to do."
"Sure."
~Fluttershy's~
Fluttershy held a watering can in her teeth and tilted her head over her garden. She was humming to herself when Angel came bolting out of the woods looking like he'd seen a ghost. Fluttershy set the can down and stopped the rabbit.
"Angel? What's wrong? Did you see a scary animal?" Fluttershy asked calmly. Angel told her nothing, only pulled her towards the cottage and pointed towards the woods frantically. Fluttershy was in the doorway when she heard it
"Jesus loves me...this I...know...for the bible tells me...so..."
