The sun was shining, the birds were singing and the wind was blowing gently over the land of Equestria. "SCrrreEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!" "Oh my Goodness!" Fluttershy jumped from where she was leading some duckling back to the pond. Her teal eyes widened and she looked in the direction of the noise. "That's Angel-Bunny!" She started to dart into the air before remebering the ducklings. Quickly she zoomed back to the ground and got all the ducklings onto her back. The pale yellow pegasus galloped back to their pond and dropped them there. Almost at that exact same instant she shot into the air and made her way to the little rabbit. Fluttershy folded her wings to her side as soon as she landed on the ground and galloped to where Angel was impatiently tapping his foot. "Yes Angel-Bunny?" the pegasus panted, leanng down to the rabbit. The rodent snorted and turned away, handing her an envelope. "Oh-oh a letter!" Fluttershy squeaked. She looked up into the air trying to catch sight of the mail mare. The gray pegasus was flying upside down again... "Please hold on to that for a moment, Angel." she said softly. The pale pegasus flapped into the air and pushed her right side up again. "Thanks for the help, Fluttershy!" Derpy chirped, her yellow eyes looking in opposite directions as they usually do. "Anytime, Derpy." she nodded. The mail mare's eyes switched directions and she muttered. "My name's Ditzy-" "Ditzyyy!" a brown stallion called from the ground "We have to go! The TARDIS picked up a distress signal!" "Oh! Sorry Doctor!" Ditzy nodded to Fluttershy "Thanks again!" and zoomed down to the brown stallion. "Allonzy!" he called, galloping off with Derpy on his tail. "...That was odd.." Fluttershy murmured. "Screeee!" Angel screeched. Fluttershy squeaked again and landed back onto the ground. The rabbit shoved the letter at her and hopped off, leaving the pale pegasus with the envelope in her hooves. She blew her rosy mane out of her face and started to open the envelope with her teeth. "Hello, Fluttershy." a purple unicorn greeted, trotting up to her. Her satchel was on her back and as always, books filled it. She walked up next to the pegasus. "Ooh a letter, who's it from?" The pegasus was too busy trembling to answer. "Hello?" Twilight blinked. She waved one hoof in front of Fluttershy's terrified eyes. "Hellooo? Anyone there?" "NO!" Fluttershy squealed, jumping into the air and dropping the letter. "No one's here! Nope!" She started to take off before a purple aura held her in place by her tail. The magic picked the letter up from the ground and held it in front of Twilight's eyes. All the while, Fluttershy thrashed in mid air, pulling at her tail as if that would dislodge her. Dearest Fluttershy, Your mother and I have decided to come visit you in Ponyville. It'll be great to see one another again, won't it? Don't worry about anything, all right Flutters? Just remember we should be there the day after you get this letter, and don't sweat it if you can't make it to see us arrive. Princess Celestia was ever so kind enough to tell us where you live, so we can just meet you there, yes? Until then, Lucky Rose. "Your parents are coming to visit!?" Twilight grinned. The magic suspending the pale yellow pegasus disappeared and she crashed into the ground. "Fluttershy, that's great! I never met your parents before!" Fluttershy shook her wings out and got to her hooves. "No one has." she sighed. "Well I can't wait to meet them!" the purple unicorn chirped. "I can." Fluttershy muttered, poking her hoof into the ground. Twilight tilted her head and studied her friend. Why wouldn't she want to see her own parents...? In an attempt to lighten the mood, the purple unicorn smiled. "Well, uh... Lucky Rose is your father's name, right? So... What's your mother's name....?" The pale pegasus muttered something under her breath, refusing to meet Twilight's eyes. "...What?" Twilight said, trying not to sound annoyed. More unaudible muttering. "What...?" Twilight asked again, leaning in close to the pegasus. "Silent Flare!" Fluttershy squeaked, barely audible. "Whoops... I'm sorry for raising my voice." "...Right." Twilight muttered. "Well why is it you don't want to see them...? Your father seems nice." as if showing details to support the statement, she levitated the letter written by him. "It's not Papa I'm worried about." Fluttershy whispered, prodding the ground with her hoof and swishing her tail. "It's my mother..." Twilight said nothing but motioned with her leg for the pale pegasus to continue. "We... We don't get along very well." she said bluntly. "Why's that?" "W-well..." Fluttershy murmured, turning away. "Well... Uh..." Angel-Bunny screeched in the distance. "Oh my! I think Angel's hungry!" The pegasus took off before Twilight could reply, going faster than Twilight thought was possible for her. There was obviously something going on with Fluttershy that she didn't want anypony to know. But why would she want to avoid her mother? Then again, Silent Flare was an odd name for a mare. "What's going on with her...?" Twilight Sparkle questioned. She made up her mind. The purple aura around the letter carried it into her satchel. Turing around, the unicorn's purple eyes got a determined look in them. She decided and it was final. Tomorrow she would go to meet Fluttershy's parents. And to answer her questions. Author's Note Hey look, more ponies. I like ponies. And this chapter is cruddy. And short. LOL. I'm so mean to myself.
