Blackstar, a fourteen-year-old mare, is the personal protege of Luna, whom treats her like a daughter and teaches her many lessons, even allowing her to assist in raising the moon and stars. Life seems normal and blissful, until a strange star hovers over Equestria one day, and life as they know it takes a sudden violent turn.
