Inside the tree house in the middle of Ponyville, a dim light flickered from dark to bright in a matter of seconds. Inside the building itself, Twilight Sparkle lay by the fire, calmly reading a book while her heart was still hurting. It has been a few years since they passed on, but Twilight couldn't simply swallow the thought about having to forget about her friends. Thunder boomed in the distance, threatning to cast a heavy downpour onto ponyville. She closed the book and with a heavy sigh, began to slowly drag herself up the stairs and into her room.
Twilight slowly opened the door and in return it made a slight creaking noise. Once inside, a small portrait of Spike the Dragon, Twilight's number one assistant, sit on the night stand. The picture contained Twilight and Spike, laughing and having a good time at Canterlot before they went back to Ponyville and the tragic accident occured.
"Suppose I should get my rain gear and umbrella. I want to visit them one more time before..." Twilight even couldn't finish her sentence as the memories started flooding back to her. "After all this time, I still can't even remember them without getting upset."
With a sigh, Twilight levitated her coat in a magenta aura and quickly strapped it around her body. Once the straps were tied, the umbrella came floating over. With a quick flick of her wrist, the umbrella popped open and expanded into a large, much more flimsy cover. She retracted the umbrella and stored it inside her rain coat for easy grabbing. As she turned to walk out the door, the image of spike said something, but Twilight couldn't put a hoof on it.
"I'll be back Spike. I'm just going to go visit you." Twilight weakly smiled and then began moving down the wooden stairs. While moving towards the door, the handle was covered in a magic aura and opened itself with a moderate speed. As soon as she stepped outside, thunder boomed in the distance. Right in front of the tree house were ponies, quickly running indoors. The muffled sound of hooves clip clopping against the dirt flooded the town. Minutes afterwards, the entire town of Ponyville was inside, with the exception of a few who still had things to do around town. Twilight snapped back to reality and began moving straight through town, ignoring the high winds pushing against her against her. Ponies began to gaze outside their windows, looking at the town and back at the storm clouds. That was when they noticed Twilight. After everything she had done with her friends and what there was to ear with, it was hard to not feel pity for her.
Twilight slowly pushed through town, ignoring concerned gazes from ponies inside their warm houses. Suddenly, water began making everything exposed to the sky wet. What once started as a minor sprinkle, turned into a full fledged thunderstorm. Thunder booming and rain pouring with an audible noise when it touches the ground. The winds had slowed down finally, but it was still enough to knock a pony off their feet if they weren't careful enough. After tripping and falling by a rock, she flew a few feet sideways towards another house. Thankfully, the wind put her down in time to not make direct contact with the house.
Suddenly, a window opened on the other side of the street. The stallion began shouting for her. "Twilight? What are you doing out there?! Hurry in here. The wind is too strong right now!"
Without a single word, Twilight teleported inside his house, her rain coat and legs dripping wet from being outside in the rain. The stallion turned around and saw a miserable Twilight, dripping wet and probably cold.
"Hang on there, Twilight. I'll go start a hot bath and get a towel for you." The stallion cautiously looked behind him and back to the door again. When he was the frame he quickly began walking towards the bathroom. "Oh, make yourself at home. Sit anywhere you want." He kindly offered.
"No, I couldn't do that..."
"Don't worry about it Twi. I'd rather have wet sheets rather than a sick friend." He smiled warmly and left to turn the water on inside the tub. When he was gone, Twilight hesitantly sat down on his bed. Shortly after, the sound of water running came from down the hall. The door opened and a towel carrying stallion trotted down the hall. The door opened and a towel caught Twilight by surprise, causing her to flail her arms for a quick moment before removing the towel.
"I really don't know how to repay you. You've been so nice to me and I can't help but feel like I haven't done enough for you..." Suddenly, a hoof tapped her shoulder.
"Twilight, you saved my life when I was but a young colt. I, at the very least, owe you my life."
"You mean that time I "handled" those muggers for you?" Twilight couldn't help but smile at the fond memory.
"Yeah. You know, I saw as you as a hero when I was a young colt. The time you rescued me, I couldn't help but feel so happy. Someone actually helped get rid of those guys. It made me so happy to have someone care for me." The stallion smiled fondly. "That's a story for another time though. The bath is ready. Don't go catching a cold now you hear?"
"Yeah yeah." Just as the stallion was about to leave the room, Twilight thought about something. "Say, what's your name again? I seem to have forgotten."
"Again?" The stallion sighed. "Well, your memory's been on the short side as of late. The name is Sunny Smiles. Faust, I hate that name." He averted his gaze. "Well, the bath is still warm. Just come back here and go to bed."
"Wait! What about you?"
"Oh, I'll just sleep on the couch. For some reason I've always been quite fond of the couch." Sunny shrugged his shoulders.
"If you really don't mind..."
"I don't. Go on, take a bath. Wake me up if you need anything."
Reluctantly, Twilight pushed herself off the bed and dragged herself across the hall, into the bathroom. With the help of magic, the door opened and inside was what you'd find in a regular bathroom. A tub, toilet, sink with the usual amenities such as tooth paste and hoof soap. Her gaze returned to the tub and saw it was still steaming from the hot water poured into hit. Slowly, she closed the door behind her and hovered herself over the tub and gently propped herself inside. The surrounding warm water was very welcome. It instantly heated her up from the cold rain water from earlier.
Twilight sighed and smiled as sat like Lyra on the park bench inside the tub. The steam emitting from the water made it nice and easy as well as comfortable to breath in unlike outside where it was rainy and dirt was everywhere. She slowly leaned her head back and stared directly at the ceiling, somehow reminding her of Rarity and their trip to the spa. Rarity loved talking with Fluttershy at the spa and for some reason, she always rested her head on the floor behind the mud bath. Shoving the memory out of her head, she levitated a bottle of soap to her hoof.
"Just realized how dirty my coat was." She thought aloud as she examined her coat. It was covered in dirt, pebbles, and other things of the like. rubbing the soap in between her hooves, she brought her foreleg above the water and scrubbed it clean. Once that side was covered in soap, she dipped it under the water and let the soap naturally wash off. Using the remaining soap in her left hoof, she rubbed hooves again and began scrubbing her left foreleg. Once it was covered in soap, she dipped it in the water again, to have it wash off. The other grime on the rest of her body somehow already washed off and was innocently floating at the front of the tub. Once everything else was cleaned, the shampoo began to float over to her.
The shampoo didn't arrive at first and only made a breathing type noise when squeezed. It appeared that the bottle was empty. With a sigh, Twilight pulled the plug and the dirty water began flowing down the tiny, built in drain. While trying to stand up, a towel began to levitate and flattened itself out at the foot of the bath. Carefully, Twilight pulled all of her legs up and stood on the towel. The same towel from before flew itself over to Twilight in a yellow glow.
"Sunny? Is that you?"
The gentle clip clop of hooves came from way down the hall. "I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about." He said innocently.
"Riiight. Anyways, this one's warm?"
"Yeah. Forgot about cleaning my towels earlier. So, since there was another one that was cleaned, I figured I might as well give you one."
"Thanks, Sunny. You're always there for me when I need it. I don't know how to repay you."
"Don't worry about it. You don't have to-" He was cut off by a hoof being stuffed in his mouth.
"No. You've done an unimaginable amount of kindness for me. I need to repay you somehow and I won't take no for an answer." Twilight removed the hoof from his mouth to let him speak.
"Alright. If you really want to repay me, then just be happy. Twilight, It tears me up inside, when I have to see you in this state." He sighed. "Goodnight. Hopefully things will be better tomorrow." He dejectedly walked back to the living room to sleep on his couch, leaving Twilight to think about what to do next. After minutes of processing, she went back to her temporary bedroom and pulled the blankets over herself, hoping tomorrow would be better.
