Professor Twilight’s Magic Session

On a normal day in Ponyville..
Twilight Sparkle was moving actively in the Library, which were both a home and a place where she could just relax. It was nighttime; one could tell from the view outside the windowsill. Although it was closing time in the library, and she had nothing else to do, Twilight was moving as actively as ever.
“Oh no… I’m late…LATE!! It’s Almost time…What am I doing!!!”
In a panicked manner, Twilight moved desks and chairs neatly to where they were supposed to be, and finished up by putting a giant chalkboard in the front. It looked like a normal classroom excluding the fact that it was hastily put, but one could tell that one put a lot of effort into it.
“SPIKE!!! I thought I told you to tell me when it’s time!!”
Twilight shouted angrily to Spike, who was loafing on the staircase that led to the second floor. Spike replied lazily, leaning against his hand.
“Hey, I told you! Why are you in such a hurry when you’re not even that late?”
Twilight twitched; she stopped working and looked at Spike, dumbfounded.
“NOT even THAT late..? NOT EVEN THAT LATE?!??”
In the blink of an eye, she charged to Spike, and faced him, staring in disbelief.
“NOT EVEN THAT LATE!? Do you KNOW how behind schedule I am because of YOU!?”
However, Spike was not intimidated; he simply replied back.
“…30 seconds.”
Twilight stumbled a little bit at the unexpected answer; and blushed a bit.
“Huh..I’m not that late…”
“Twilight, please! I always carry out your orders perfectly. Don’t be so uptight about just a few seconds.”
“Okay, okay!! I’m sorry.”
Spike didn’t stop, and kept talking in an annoyed tone.
“Oh Twilight, you never change. You’re good at planning and organizing, but you really can’t find what you put away, or even tell about your plans to anyone. What would you do without me?”
“Stop it, Spike.”
Although Twilight said in a firm voice, Spike continued;
“I’m not finished. Who cleans the house, cooks you meals and does the groceries? This is pure slavery. You don’t even pay me, or even let me eat any gems-”
“I SAID STOP IT!!”
Furious, Twilight used her magic to thrust a chair, right at Spike. He was rammed into the wall from a direct hit. After he fell to the ground, he glared at her.
“Hey Spike, would you put that chair upstairs, since I don’t need it for class?”
Twilight ignored his glare and smiled; Spike cursed under his breath while carrying the chair, which was about his size, up the stairs.
“Phew, good. I’m ready to start class.”
The library was turned into a cozy, clean classroom, earning Twilight a satisfactory smile.

The motive of her efforts to teach was from 3 days ago…

It simply started from Rarity’s concern…She had been worried about the fact that her younger sibling was not able to use magic; everyone else who were in her age group were able to.
Rarity herself started to use magic at her age.
“Hey.. Don’t worry. She’ll get it someday.. or she can study!”
Although Twilight tried to comfort her with her words, it was not easy to get a nervous Rarity back to normal. The problem of a unicorn being unable to use his or her magic was a completely different problem than whether or not a cutie mark appears; a unicorn’s magic was supposed to be enabled naturally. However, in some cases, unicorns had to learn about magic before they were able to use it. It was only natural for Twilight to think that magic was knowledge, and vice versa. It was an important component.
“One Problem; Sweetie never studies, since she’s always running around, trying to find her cutie mark. If she doesn’t learn to use magic soon, she’ll never be able to use it.”
To Rarity’s question, Applejack had an answer.
“Then how bout’ lettin’ Twilight Teach em’?”
“M….Me..?”
Twilight panicked.. since although she read a lot, she had never taught what she learned to others before.
“That’s it, Darling!! Twilight, could you teach my little Sweetie how to use magic?”
With shining eyes, Rarity held Twilight’s hooves tightly. On the other hand, Twilight forced a smile; she really wanted to take on the job knowing Rarity didn’t ask anything of others in order not to be a burden, but she was not sure if she could successfully teach Sweetie.
“I…I don’t know…”
Pinky Pie, who was previously sitting, hopped in excitement and added on;
“Ooh OOH!! How about this? Anyone who wants to learn magic can come to the library!! And then…We can have a Party!!!”
She then blew on a kazoo while spraying confetti, causing Dash to wake up from her nap.
Applejack nodded in agreement.
“Hey, that’s not half bad! Twilight is the expert on magic here, so anyone could go see her to learn magic; she can even build a Magic Academy!!”
“And have Parties!!!!!!”, Pinkie screamed.
“U…uh… Professor Twilight…That sounds really nice…”
Even Fluttershy joined the conversation. Every pony on the picnic (excluding Rainbow Dash) surrounded Twilight, giving her an expectant look. Once again, she forced a smile. She finally gave in and declared,
“Nnngghh… OK, I’ll do it.”
“Hooray!!!!!”

As a result, a new study group was created, named ‘Twilight Sparkle’s Beginner’s Magic Class’. The time was set to 8pm at the Library. Twilight’s friends all advertised for the class, but not as eagerly as Pinkie Pie, who gave out an invitation to every pony in ponyville. The only problem about it was the fact that the invitation stated that there was a party in the library; Twilight had to re-state facts to every pony.
Although it was a job that was randomly thrown onto her, Twilight tried her best; her perfectionism kicking in. There were schedules for future classes, different levels of training, homework, and even tests.
“Twilight, don’t you think you’re being too strict on all the ponies? You’re seriously making them 3 volumes of Magic history and write an 8,000 word reflection on it? Who’d actually do this?”, Spike asked while coming down the stairs after carrying the chair up. However, Twilight was confused;
“Huh? That’s not a lot; I didn’t give them a lot of work on purpose, since this is the first day.”
“Not all ponies are like you. Start off lightly, thinking of what Princess Celestia did on her first day of class. Do you remember?”
“It’s time for class! That means it’s time for the baby dragon to go upstairs.”
As Twilight pressured Spike to hurry, Spike grumbled, and went up the stairs again.
There were a variety of age groups in which Twilight’s students belonged to, from very young ponies to even adults; even non-unicorns who came to watch or even unicorns who wanted to learn a higher level of magic.
Finally, Sweetiebelle and Rarity arrived.
"Hello, Twilight?”
"I’m counting on you, darling."
Rarity went back home after dropping off her little sister.
"Twilight, will you really teach me magic? I want my cutie mark quickly though…”
Twilight patted her.
“It will come when time comes. You may even get it when you start using magic!”
Hearing about the possibilities of getting a cutie mark, Sweetie belle beamed with joy.
“Really? It will really get me a cutie mark? I should call Applebloom, and Scootaloo, too!! Cutie Mark Crusaders Unite!!”
Twilight did not want to imagine what would happen if the CMC were brought together..
“Ha ha ha…;; You don’t need to, since they’re not unicorns.
It was almost 8, and all the studens were here. There were eleven students, ready to learn.
“There are more students than I thought; I’m glad that I have enough seats.”
The second the clock stuck 8, an unexpected visitor barged in; it was Pinkie Pie.
“Hi, Twilight!! Am I late? They said the session started at 8’o clock but didn’t state what minute or second, so I decided to come at 8’o clock sharp!! You weren’t partying without me, were you?”
“P…Pinkie.. you’re not even a unicorn.”
Pinkie giggled.
“You silly pony, I came to learn magic, although I know how to use magic already!!”
“You do?”
Pinkie nodded as Twilight asked her in shock. She just took out a deck of cards and gave it to Twilight.
“Pick a card, any card!!”
After she picked a card, Pinkie looked at the card carefully before shouting,
“It’s 6 of balloons, right?”
Twilight let out a sigh and showed pinkie her card, which was a 4 of gift boxes.
“Wrong. And you’re talking about the wrong kind of magic.”
“Then is this a place for partying?
“NO!! This is a place where unicorns could learn magic!!”
"Really?"
Pinkie put on a disappointed face when she heard that there would be no parties, but eventually smiled again.
“Ooh, then can I see you teach? I want to see you teach!”
"Yeah, sure. Just be quiet.”
“All Right!! I’m an expert at being quiet!! You know how quiet I can be when my mouth is shut! I even beat Fluttershy in the quiet game, although she screamed when she heard a leaf rustle! Oh yeah, do you know that she called me to her house one night because she was too scared to sleep alone after hearing a scary story from Dash? Ha! She gets scared so easily, even when her tail sweeps against her! Oh, keep this a secret, since she told me to keep it a secret! And-”
“Pinkie, Sit down!”
Twilight gave out a sigh, then started class with a bright and clear voice.
“Hello, everyone. Do you know what you ponies are here for?”
"Me! Me!”
Pinkie waved her hoof from side to side. Twilight picked her, since she was the only one raising her hoof.
“Miss Pinkie Pie?”
"To PARTY!!!"
"WE DON’T HAVE PARTIES!!”
Everyone in the room stared at her after the scream; she went on, trying to ignore the stares.
"You are here to learn magic, what only a unicorn can do. It is a very useful trait, just like an earth pony’s strength, or a pegasus’ wings. There is a very wide variety of magic, and how you want to use your magic depends on how you use it."
Twilight herself thought the lecture was perfect, and was certain that everyone would be listening with passion. However in reality, no one was paying attention. Some were staring off into space, while some were talking to another. One pony was digging into the desk with a pencil! Pinkie Pie was asleep, snoring, drooling and twitching slightly. She panicked; this was not going according to plan! As she was wondering, Spike’s words from earlier echoed in her ears.
‘Start off lightly, thinking of what Princess Celestia did on her first day of class. Do you remember?’
On that day, everyone was nervous, since the princess herself taught the class, only to the best of ponies. That fact only increased the pressure. The atmosphere was tense and heavy.
However, when everyone looked at the princess with nervous stares, she said something that was completely unexpected.
“Since this is the first day of school, we’ll have some cake!”
Everyone was confused, but realized on that day that the princess was not as strict as they thought she was; she was just another pony who made jokes and ate cake a bit clumsily.
Twilight was ashamed and embarrassed about the fact that she thought that she would be the perfect teacher. She didn’t even have cake to give to the students…
But then she saw the solution to all of her problems right in front of her: Pinkie Pie, the one and only Party Creator Extraordinaire!!!
“So, before we head into our next session….”
Twilight looked proudly at the students and stated,
“We’re going to have a party, directed by Pinkie Pie!!”
“I Knew you’d say that!!”
Pinkie, who was thought to be sleeping, jumped up from her seat and screamed. Just like the Twilight on her first day, the students had a confused look on their faces.
“I prepared a surprise party, just for this occasion!!”
Pinkie excitedly shouted on with great speed.
“I was a bit nervous when you said that there would be no party, since I prepared for a surprise party in the library!!”
“..Huh? but the library is unchanged….”
Pinkie giggled.
“Oh, this. This background is just paper, heh heh.”
When she ripped off the paper, the library was turned into a complete party room, just like magic.
Twilight knew that Pinkie would never let her down, even in situations like these.
“Phew..Thanks, Pinkie Pie! I owe you one.”
“Noooo~~ I owe YOU one for starting the party!!”
Pinkie shouted out to the Crowd with a microphone in her hoof,
“Let’s Get this Party Started!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
As loud music boomed across the once quiet library, one by one, ponies started to stand up and dance.
“You see? I was right. You have to be light on the first day. You could have prepared!”
Spike came downstairs, hearing the music. Twilight let out a smile of relief and acceptance, and looked at Pinkie, who was dancing on the podium.
“Sorry, Spike. I’ll make sure to listen to you next time….Do you think I’ll be able to become a good teacher?”
“Hmmmm, Aren’t you a better teacher for now since you gave them a party while the princess gave cake?”
Spike laughed heartily, and went to join the others.
Twilight smiled with satisfaction and mumbled to herself, looking at the students who were enjoying themselves.
“I might not be one now, but someday, I’ll be a great teacher…Right, princess Celestia?”
