Chapter V – A Rude Awakening

Twilight paced back and forth in the library, a look of worry on her face and a scroll from Celestia in her hand. The other girls and Spike were sat down watching her go back and forth but all had a look of worry on their own faces.

“I’m sure she just overslept dear, she will be along anytime soon.” Rarity tried to say.

“She was supposed to meet us here and bring Discord with her half an hour ago!” Twilight replied. “Spike are you absolutely certain you gave her the letter yesterday?”

“I’m pretty certain I did…I mean I put the letters to everyone else in my pocket and after I gave Rarity hers I-“He put his hand in his pocket and his eyes widened. “Went….straight…to Fluttershy’s” He finished pulling out the letter addressed to Fluttershy. “Oops...”

“Spike!” Twilight groaned in frustration.

“No sweat Twi, I’ll go over and get the two, besides, I kinda want to see if Discord puts up a resistance.” Rainbow said with a grin and cracked her knuckles.

“Oh don’t DO that, I hate that noise!” Rarity winced.

“I’ll go with ya Dash, just in case you need…back up.” Applejack grinned and punched her palm.

“Alrighty, we won’t take long.” Rainbow said.

The two exited the library and began to walk briskly towards Fluttershy’s cottage, leaving the others behind. As the two came to the bridge that led to the house Applejack nudged Rainbow Dash gently in the side and whispered to her.

“Say…in all honesty, yer reckon you know who has tried something?” She asked.

“Nah, even though it’s him he’s not that stupid besides, were the elements. We’d just kick his ass again.” Rainbow returned smugly.

Applejack smirked as they crossed over the bridge and carried on walking in silence, as the approached the looked around shocked to see that the animals Fluttershy usually had outside her home running around weren’t out. A little concerned Applejack went to the front door and knocked on the door.

“Fluttershy? Y’all alright in there?” Applejack called out.

“I’ll check the windows.” Rainbow said.

Rainbow’s wings appeared and she shot off to the other side of the house as quickly as she could and began to peer in the individual windows one by one.

“I can’t see anyone in the living room or kitchen.” She called out to Applejack. “I’ll try her bedroom.”

She landed by the window and her wings disappeared as she peeked in, her eyes widened and her jaw dropped. It took her a few seconds to try and work out what she was actually seeing; there in Fluttershy’s bed was a topless Discord. She couldn’t see that he was wearing pyjama trousers as he had his legs under the duvet, beside him was Fluttershy still laying her head on his chest. Rainbow’s face began to redden with rage as she noticed Discords smile on his face and shot off with stopped to the front of the house; she pushed Applejack to the side and kicked the door in an attempt to break it down.

“What in tarnation you doing Dash!?”

“Discord’s in Fluttershy’s fucking bed! What do you think I’m doing?!” She shouted kicking the door again.

Applejack blinked before connecting the dots and gritted her teeth; she shoved Dash out of the way and brought her leg up. Using all her strength from her many hours working on the farm, she kicked the door down in one fell swoop nearly disintegrating it in the process, she stomped as she marched in followed by an equally angry Rainbow Dash.

Discord murmured as the sun shone in through the windows and into his eyes, he blinked rapidly and looked around. He remembered the events of the night and looked down at Fluttershy who was still on his chest and smiling peacefully, he leant back and closed his eyes with a smile, letting his mind have a wonder in his thoughts. He was brought out of his train of thought when a loud bang resonated around the room, Fluttershy shot up startled and blinked rubbing her eyes and looked at her alarm clock realising the time.

“O-oh my goodness! I-I slept in.” She gasped as another bang echoed.

“I’d be more concerned with what the hell that noise is.” Discord said.

Before Fluttershy could answer an even louder bang resonated startling them both, with an ‘eep’ she clung to Discord out of reaction who without realising it suddenly clung to her almost protectively and watched her bedroom door with squinted eyes. The bedroom door slammed open and cracked the wall as it made contact and broke, there standing in the doorway was Applejack and behind her Rainbow Dash, both wearing expressions of anger.

“Ah it’s just you two, I trust your morning-“

Discord was interrupted as Applejack suddenly ran at him and backhanded him with all her might, sending the man out of Fluttershy’s grip and on to the floor crying out in pain.

“WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT FOR?” Discord groaned in pain holding his red cheek and stood up glaring at them and baring his teeth.

“WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YER DOING DISCORD?! YOU THINK WERE GUNNA JUST SIT HERE WHILST YOU TAKE ADVANTAGE OF FLUTTERS?!” She shouted at him.

“YEAH, WE’RE GUNNA KICK YOUR ASS!” Rainbow joined in clenching her fists.

“I’D LIKE TO SEE YOU TRY THAT AGAIN YOU BITCH!” Discord roared at her clenching his own fist, his hand still on his cheek.

“ENOUGH!” Fluttershy shouted.

The shout nearly rivalled that of the royal Canterlot voice and made the other three cringe at the sheer volume, Rainbow Dash and Applejack watched as Fluttershy calmly got out of the bed and stood in front of Discord.

“Let me look…” She said softly.

Discord mumbled and moved his hand; on his cheek was a deep red mark. Applejack smirked and Rainbow patted her back with an equally smug smirk, Fluttershy turned her head and glared wide eyed at her friends, there eyes widened and their pupils shrank, it was the stare.

“THAT wasn’t nice you two! Now apologise to him!” She said.

“B-but Fluttershy.” Applejack started, her brow sweating from the effect of the stare.. “W-we was p-protecting you f-from this p-pervert!”

“Pervert? You think I’m a pervert?!” Discord shouted, for once being genuinely insulted.

“Well yeah, y-your half naked and I-in her bed!” Rainbow countered, unable to avoid Fluttershy’s stare.

Fluttershy sighed and sat Discord on the bed, she took a cloth that was in a small bowl of water on her bedside which she used to give her face a quick wash in the mornings and dabbed Discords face. He winced slightly and mumbled something about hurting like a bitch, Fluttershy smiled as she let him take the cloth for himself. She then turned to face the other two and stared at them once more.

“For your information Rainbow Dash, He came in here last night because I had a horrific nightmare. He sat in the bed with me and comforted me like a true gentleman would, he could have just ignored my crying or not stayed the whole night and do you know why he did?”

She paused as the other two shook their heads.

“Because he cares Rainbow, he cares about me. He’s proven that, he made a lovely dinner last night and offered to wash up as well. You would have known this if you had simply asked me and not jumped to conclusions!” She finished.
Discord stared at her shocked; she was referring to him like he was her friend. Friend…that was a word Discord hadn’t bothered with in many years. He was the Lord of Chaos! He didn’t need any friends. He could just turn someone crazy and enjoy their company, but what Fluttershy had said surprised him, does she consider him a friend? He was confused at that thought.

‘She’s only known me a day…well maybe more than a day if you count the time I was freed, but still…does she?’

Whilst he was in his thoughts, Fluttershy was still glaring at her friends, her hands on her hips. Rainbow rubbed her arm and looked down apologetically.

“S-sorry Fluttershy…I just thought…” Rainbow started.

“We thought he was taking advantage of you sugarcube…ahm sorry…” Applejack finished.

“I forgive you two, but you shouldn’t be apologising to me.”

Fluttershy took a step to her side so they could see Discord; they both refused to make eye contact with him and had blushes of embarrassment and annoyance.

“Were sorry fer jumpin’ to conclusions.” Applejack said.

“Yeah…sorry Discord.” Rainbow finished.

“I don’t care, that was really uncalled for, even against me!” Discord glared at them.

“Please Discord…for me?” Fluttershy asked him resting a hand on his,

Discord looked up at her face ready to remain with his choice but stopped, he looked into her eyes for a few moments mesmerised.

‘There it is again…that annoying feeling, what the hell does it mean? Urgh…she’s not going to let this go if I don’t forgive them.’ He thought.

“Fine, I forgive you, this time.” He said looking at the other two girls.

“Now girls if you don’t mind, we would like to have some breakfast.” Fluttershy shooed them out of the room.

“Ok Fluttershy, just make sure you come to Twilight’s when you’re done. She said she got a scroll from the Princess and wants us all there, even him.” Rainbow indicated Discord as she left.

“Ah’ll have Big Mac come round later and fix yer door for you Fluttershy…sorry about that again.” Applejack said.

“Ok, see you girls in a bit.” Fluttershy waved them off.

She watched them leave before turning to Discord who was still muttering under his breath and rubbing his cheek; she took a deep breath and smiled.

‘Ok Fluttershy…try it and see how he reacts.’

She then sat next to him and smiled; he looked at her and raised his eyebrow.

“What?”

“Thank you.” She said.

“It’s fine, I only did that for you even though I still feel-“

Discord was interrupted as Fluttershy gave him a soft kiss on his cheek before heading out of the room.

“What was THAT for?” He asked his eyes wide in surprise.

“For last night.” She smiled softly and left.

Discord simply blinked watching her leave; he felt something on his cheeks burning and looked around. He saw a hand mirror on the vanity and picked it up to see he was blushing; he stared at his reflection and scratched his chin.

‘What the hell is wrong with me? Why am I blushing? And why did she…kiss me? Is that what you do as friends or something?’

He let out an irritated sigh, placing the mirror down her left the room and headed to his own. He took off his pyjama trousers and rummaged through the drawers, he took out some black jeans and a fresh pair of boxers. Putting them both on he then pulled out a white formal button shirt and put it on leaving the top button undone, he sat on the bed and slipped some socks on followed by his shoes and headed out to the kitchen downstairs, assuming that’s where Fluttershy had gone. Not finding her there he heard her footsteps coming from upstairs; he headed up the stairs and towards her room his stomach growling. He poked his head through the now broken doorway looking down the hallway towards the stairs.

“Hey Fluttershy…you want any break-“

He stopped when he turned his head and looked into the room, his eyes widened and his jaw dropped. Fluttershy stared back at him her own eyes wide in surprise; she was holding a dress in one hand about to put it on. She was currently wearing a pair of white lace panties with a matching bra, he stared at her figure. Her curves were all in the right areas and her chest was a very ample size, he wondered how he hadn’t really noticed it before and felt the blush come back to his cheeks as he stared.

“-Fast…uh…is it hot in here?” He said tugging the collar of his shirt.

Fluttershy’s face went a complete dark red as she shrieked and grabbed one of the pillows throwing it at Discord; he was too distracted with his ogling to notice and was hit point black in the face. He may have been a spirit of chaos, but he knew when to make himself scarce. He quickly turned around and walked briskly down the hallway.

He went straight to the kitchen and sat down, his mind betraying him and making him think on what he just saw. He waited a while before Fluttershy joined him wearing a white knee length dress, she didn’t say a word and her face was still red. She took a seat opposite him avoiding eye contact with him; Discord looked up at her and rubbed the back of his head.

“Hey Fluttershy…I’m sorry you know? I didn’t know…you were changing.” Discord muttered looking away.

“I-its fine D-Discord…S-sorry for throwing the p-pillow at y-you…” She replied quietly.

“I had it coming…”

There was an awkward silence, he looked back at her to see she was still blushing, but had a smile on her face. He smiled to himself and coughed, she looked up at him and he smiled again.

“I have to say though…you have a beautiful body.” He admitted.

Fluttershy’s eyes went wide and her face went even redder, something Discord wouldn’t have though possible. She began to mutter incoherently and began to furiously played with her hair looking down nervously, he let a soft chuckle out and got up to make them breakfast.

‘He….he said my body was beautiful…does that mean he likes me? Or is he just teasing me…oh my…’ She thought to herself.

The smell of eggs and toast filled her nose and she turned to see Discord cooking, a smile on his face. She watched him cook as he hummed a tune to himself and placed the eggs onto two plates followed by the toast; he placed her plate in front of her and then sat in his chair. He felt a tingle in his fingers and raised an eyebrow, he clicked his fingers and a teapot and two cups appeared on the table giving Fluttershy a quick startle, he grinned and poured them both a cup of tea.

“Seems my powers are finally starting to return, finally.” He chuckled taking a sip.

Fluttershy smiled and began to eat her breakfast, the awkward tension starting to fade away. They conversed over breakfast about small things, mainly Discord asking her questions regarding what the Princess could want. After they finished they both washed up their plates and the cooking utensils and brushed their teeth before heading out, Fluttershy wanted to feed the animals quickly and picked up a bucket full of chicken feed but stopped.

“Discord…do you want to help me?” She asked hopefully.

Discord thought about it for a moment and scratched his chin, he sighed and shrugged.

“Sure, guess it will get us to the library quicker.” He replied.

He wasn’t sure but he could have sworn he heard Fluttershy make a small happy squeak sound, they made their way over to the chicken coop and Fluttershy opened the door to let them out. She smiled as they made their way through the enclosure clucking and generally investigating the area, they wandered over to Discord and pecked his feet gently inspecting him, Fluttershy giggled and smiled at him.

“I think they like you.”

“Annoying little devils aren’t they.” Discord replied having to lift his feet up one after the other as they pecked him. “Can you feed them please before they try to eat my feet?”

Fluttershy giggled again and took a handful of seed and tossed it onto the ground, the chickens immediately stopped pecking his feet and raced over to the seed to eat it. Discord walked beside her and took his own handful and threw it on the ground, he wanted so badly to jinx the seed with some form of chaotic spell but didn’t want to run the risk of draining his powers before they fully came back, even in their limited state.

After feeding the chickens he helped Fluttershy with the other animals, her ducks and the other various critters she took care of. When they had finished they started to make their way to Twilight’s house before Discord stopped them.

“Almost forgot.” He turned and clicked his fingers, the front door fixing itself.

“Thank you Discord.” Fluttershy said.

“Well I kinda had to, I DO live here to.”

They started on their way once more to Twilight’s house, Discord put his hands in his pockets and began to whistle a tune to himself and Fluttershy let her mind race with thoughts as she smiled happily.

‘I can’t believe how well this is going…I mean I know it might be a joke or some form of ploy, but I can’t help feeling that somewhere deep inside of him. He is actually starting to open up to me.’

She giggled quietly to herself as they made their way into the town, once again people gave her looks as she and Discord made their way through the marketplace. He saw Caramel and a bunch of other males standing near a stall who looked over to them and glared at Discord, in response Discord smirked and locked his arm around Fluttershy. She blushed softly and held onto his arm with both her hands going with the impulse, people around them giggled and smiled to her as Caramel was held back by his friends his face red with anger.

‘I may not be at my full power, but damn does Caramel make it so easy to mess with him. Think I’ll vent my need to be chaotic on him, him and the little white devil rabbit.’ Discord chuckled to himself.

They approached Twilight’s house and knocked on the door, Spike answered it and gave a startled yelp when he saw Discord and ran back inside. They entered to see the girls waiting and Spike hiding behind Twilight.

“What a charming welcome.” Discord said sarcastically.

“Uh…Discord…why are you linking arms with Fluttershy?” Rarity asked.

Discord raised an eyebrow before remembering he was in fact linking his arm with her, he let go of it and chuckled as Fluttershy smiled and fiddled with her hair.

“Oh, I had completely forgotten about that. Anyway let’s get on with this, what does the Princess command of me?” He asked crossing his arms.

“We’ll get to that in a moment.” Twilight replied.

She nodded to Rarity and Pinkie who nodded back and stood up, Pinkie headed into the kitchen as Rarity pulled on Fluttershy’s arm gently and headed towards the kitchen.

“Darling I need your help, Twilight says she can’t see it but I think there is something wrong with Owlicious, can you give me your opinion? He’s in the kitchen.”

“W-well ok…if you really think it’s important.”

They reaming girls waited till Fluttershy and Rarity had entered the kitchen, Discord felt his shirt tighten as a purple aura engulfed a small part of it and he was pulled forwards suddenly face to face with Twilight, Rainbow and Applejack, all three of them had angry expressions.

“They told me what happened earlier Discord.” Twilight said in a hushed tone. “You may not have done anything last night but we will tell you this now.

“You so much as hurt Fluttershy, hurt her feelings or betray her trust.” Rainbow added.

“We will break every single bone in your body and turn ya into stone before tossing your sorry ass into the lake.” Applejack finished coldly.

Discord chuckled and raised his hands up with a confident smirk on his face, which only served to annoy the girls even more.

“I’ll try my best then.” He chuckled.

“I am so sorry that I wasted your time Fluttershy." Rarity said as she, Pinkie and Fluttershy re-entered the room.

Discord was immediately released form Twilight’s grip and Fluttershy looked over, confused as to why he was so close to the other three.

“Is…everything ok?” She asked.

“Sure is Fluttershy.” Rainbow replied.

“Right Discord?” Twilight added.

“Hmm? Oh yes everything is just…peachy.” He said through clenched teeth.

“Oh…ok.” Fluttershy said, not entirely convinced.

Rarity looked over to Twilight who nodded back and smiled, they all took a seat as Twilight opened the scroll and began to read.
