Ponyville hasn't been covered with rain for quite a while, the weather ponies are right now working on covering the great blue sky with some dark big grey clouds. Of course, it's Rainbow Dash's mistake that most of Roses's flowers in her garden are almost dead, Rose does give them water, but the rain helps the flowers live a little better, and it's Rainbow Dash's mistake since she's the lead weather pony and has obviously not been paying attention to no rain, well, until she gasped at Rose's garden and got right to work on the rain
. Right now Rainbow Dash was in one of her daydreams up on a cloud with her tail hanging off it, looking at Celestia's sun set for Luna's moon upon Equestria. It was such a beautiful sight! And yet so peaceful. Rainbow Dash closed her eyes and felt herself getting closer and closer to falling asleep. What broke her out of her sleep was a voice calling "RAINBOW DASH!"
The Pegasus lifted her head with a sigh, one of the weather ponies was calling her. Rainbow spotted the one calling her, it has a lemon-ish mane and tail and a grey body, and weird looking eyes. The blue pony raised her eyebrow. "What do you want?" The other ponies first response was to come over to the half asleep pony and pull on her tail, then finally said, "Aren't you tha weather leader? Come on set out the rest of da grey clouds with us, if you do, I got a suprise for youuuu!" Rainbow heard the work 'suprise' and jmped of the cloud, "Really!? What is it!? Please make it be a awesome pair of shades, or maybe a-" "Muffin!" Rainbow looked confused at the suprise being a...muffin...so she just shook her head and said, "No...I guess I'll just help you then." "Are you sure? I gotz a whole batch!" "Uh...no, I'm good." Rainbow Dash soon flew around taking cloud by cloud, doing her job. Once she was done she finally lay on a real soft cloud and the last thing she heard was a background voice shouting, "Want dat muffin now?", sighed, and drifted off to slumber.
Rainbow Dash woke up on the same cloud she fell asleep on the next morning. She hopped off the cloud quickly on landed onto the ground, feeling the dew alongside her hooves on the wet grass. It was only sprinkling rain right now, so it must of been pouring all night. As the Pegasus walked along, she noticed no pony was outside, at all. The last time Ponyville was like this was when Zecora came to town.
Rainbow's curiosity got the best of her and she couldn't help it but to go to Twilight to ask where is everypony, because this question was really setting her off for a scavenger hunt to find the answer, she has no idea why this was bothering her, because the last time the ponies were like this was because a zebra was trying to find a store that was open, so it was no big deal. So again, Rainbow shook her head and tried to be less stupid. As she walked pass a huge home-tree, a purple Unicorn poked her head out of her window.
"RAINBOW! What are you doing out here!? Quick get in here right now!" Rainbow just tilted her head, but still obeyed Twilight's command. Rainbow found a chair on made herself comfortable.
"Rainbow Dash!"
Rainbow looked up expecting for a sarcastic look on a purple pony, instead a serious look.
"Um, yes?"
"Why in the wide wide world of Equestria were you outside!?"
"Eh, because...I just happened to be out there???"
"WHY, ARE YOU DEATH OR SOMETHING?"
Rainbow got a shocked look on her face on what she just said. Twilight cleared her throat, "Heh, um, sorry. But-"
"What do you mean am I 'death'?"
Rainbow sounded very annoyed since it sounded like Twilight was just making fun of her ears, but Twilight sounded way more annoyed answering Rainbow's question, "I said sorry! My point is why didn't you hear anything last night!?"
"Huh? What do you mean? I was probably in a deep slumber, deal with it."
"RAINBOW! You gotta be kidding me, this is very important! Last night something very awful happened last night and I am actually impressed your hearing me right now!"
"What does that have to do with anything?"
"The alert siren of the problem was very loud, and I am impressed that didn't wake you up."
"Couldn't of anypony got me?"
"Every pony thunk each pony was safe and not outside! No one could have possibly seen you up on that cloud, since you were surrounded by other huge clouds!"
"...Okay, but this doesn't matter, what was the problem?"
Twilight looked both ways and carefully walked toward Rainbow, "You seen that gray cloud last night the shape of a duck?"
"Mhm, I moved that one."
Twilight gasped in fear, "RAINBOW! Ohhh, thank goodness no pony figured you out yet!"
Rainbow got very confused and just wanted to get to the point, "Your point?"
"My point is that is a very dangerous cloud!"
"Twilight, I never seen a dangerous cloud before."
"That cloud is full of...poison, this very odd potion that is, poison."
"Twilight, how could of poison possibly gotten into a cloud?"
"Our only guess is one of the Pegasi spilt some on it on accident or purpose, their still being figured out! And plus that was the grayest cloud, it was also the closest to the ground. If it zapped any pony, they would by twice as injured from a normal lighting bolt, also if any of the potion fell on anypony, the pony would be infected by what the potion was made for, like if the potion was to turn earth ponies into Pegasi, if a drop landed on a earth pony, they would become a Pegasus and that would not be could because that is not who they were born to be! Or if the potion was a fail, who knows what a drop could do to a pony? Rainbow, it could make them bald, blind, anything! Every pony, even Princess Celestia is trying to find a way to stop the cloud from evaporating into thin air! If it were so, every pony who went outside would get possibly killed, just, Rainbow, your safe here with me for now."
Twilight was talking so fast and said so much Rainbow couldn't keep up. She tried to put in her mind what she heard and a few seconds later a response came from Twilight's long speech, "Zecora is always making strange potions!"
Twilight gasped, "Your right! But we can't get to her place..."
"Obviously.." Rainbow mumbled to her self. She hopped off the chair and opened her wings.
"Rainbow?"
Rainbow turned back to see Twilight glaring at her, "Would you be a dear and NOT FLY INDOORS!?" Rainbow just paused there, more curious than a cat why Twilight was so niggard.
"Okay, okay, gosh." Rainbow, miffed, flopped down on her stomach, sill looking up at Twilight.
"Oh, I'm so sorry. It's just that Spike has been such a sorehead ever since yesterday, I honestly don't know why, it urges me so much to know. I tried asking him, but he just looked so sick at heart looking out my bedroom window. I am clueless if he will even WRITE what I say for Princess Celestia!"
Rainbow closed her eyes, shaking her head, "Well, you became a miss fancy pants yourself."
"And that's because I am so confound about Spike it's unpredictable I'll ever get any work done!"
"And I 120% understand your feelings. Hm, I know! I'll talk with him! No pony, er, dragon, can let down Rainbow Dash!"
"So you'll see what's wrong? Are you sure?" Twilight looked a little nervous at the thought of RAINBOW DASH introducing herself to seeing through dragon's problems.
"Hay yea! Give me a chance to clear this all mess up."
Twilight got a smile on her face brighter than the sun, "Phew! A pony who will finally help me clean up this library! I can't clean up books all on my own, now, can I?"
Rainbow Dash stood up and once again bounced her wings open, "Oh...I guess I can clean THAT mess up to, heh," Rainbow saw that familiar look on Twilight's face from a few moments ago, "Don't worry, I fill fly GENTLE upstairs."
"Oh, (chuckle), alright"
Rainbow hasn't flew for quite a while, and she really didn't keep Twilight's promise full lock. Rainbow got in a cat-ready-to-bounce-on-another-cat position, shook her hilt in the air, scratched her hoof on the ground, and breathed out hard. Then, as fast as she could, zoomed upstairs leaving a trail of rainbow behind her, making Twilight twirl. The purple unicorn sighed and put a hoof over her face.
Upstairs, a sad looking dragon looked out the window with his hand on his chin. He was sitting on Twilight's bed, ignoring every single bit around him. He was just a baby dragon and needed comfort with whatever he had on his mind that was bugging him. The sky looked so grey, and what was popping out was that duck-shaped-cloud-full-of-what-might-change-more-than-1-ponies-life-poison.
Rainbow finally reached the top of the stairs, and just paused there for a second. She totally saw that Spike wasn't the happiest dragon right now. A few minuted later, what got Spike's attention was the pony clopping on the floor coming towards him. He felt a warm hoof over his shoulder. Rainbow was acting some what so gentle, and then out of nowhere screeched, "WHAT'S THE MATTER, BRO?" Making Spike scream.
Spike looked up to Rainbow Dash bothered. Rainbow looked away, scratching the back of her head. "Oh, em, sorry."
Spike raised his eyebrow and asked, "WHAT are you doing here?"
"I wanted to know what's wrong."
"Ug, why does Twilight have to act that way, always in control it seems if."
"Hey, you're a baby dragon, she's trying to look after you."
"But it's always, Dash."
"And your a baby. Is this is what's bothering you?"
"No!" Spike looked back out the window, trying to ignore Rainbow, he couldn't. Rainbow's type of voice would always get your attention, her cute little voice cracks are hard to put aside, too. "Spike! You can tell me anything! I can keep whatever you say."
"Well, your not the element of honesty. That's Applejack. And if Applejack said that she'd keep it, then I'd totally tell her."
Rainbow Dash sighed, thinking of what to say and how to act. "Well, I'm the element of loyalty, which means I'd never let a friend down. And if I let a huge secret like yours slip, I'd definitely regret it." Rainbow Dash looked right at him, wanting him to turn back to her, that's exactly what happened. Spike didn't know what to do, Rainbow Dash was beyond doubt playful and always playing tricks here and there. But she was some what very sweet right now oddly, and very truthful acting. Besides, Spike didn't have a diary to write in, so he would feel at least a little better telling some pony that actually acting trustworthy with him, so there was no choice but to just tell her. Spike blurted out, "I know about the cloud!"
Rainbow tilted her head. THAT'S what all the fuss is about? THE CLOUD? It really isn't that important to her. What she heard from Twilight was that a Pegasus pony by accident or on purpouse happened to fly on top of the cloud and spill some potion on it that is possibly poison, and that cloud is the most grey and closest to the ground, so if it were to zap some pony it would hurt twice more than a regular shock, or if the potion fell out of the cloud and landed on a pony, what the potion was made for may happen to the pony, or if the potion was a fail something terrible could happen to the pony, and if the cloud evaporated into thin air, it would be most likely the potion would evaporate too, and if a pony were to breathe, they may even die!? This cloud thing WAS a little to much to remember, and it does sound terribly awful, but to Rainbow it sounded like fiction. Why would it upset some pony or dragon so much? Did Rainbow not see the main idea of this very odd cloud?
"That's it? Spike, I know about it to, everything will be fine! Everypony knows about it also, anyway, so it really isn't that big of a secret."
"Rainbow Dash! I knew you wouldn't understand." The purple and green dragon sighed and looked down onto the bed.
"I probably don't understand because all you said was you know about the cloud."
It made sense to Spike, so he looked up to her, and continued on. "I know what the potion was made for, and I know which pony spilt it on the cloud."
It was clear to the pony. Spike doesn't understand why this certain pony would do such a thing as to spill something full of harm on a cloud, making everything a big situation. Does this mean Spike is absolute sure the pony did this on purpouse? Yes. This could only mean one thing,
"Was it....was the pony...Fluttershy!?"
Spike looked very confused at this question, so he simply shook his head. "No. This pony I remember-"
"You don't know this pony? Then what's the point of keeping this a secret?"
"...The pony had a grey coat and sort of a lemon color mane. Weird looking eyes also."
Rainbow thought for a minute. That's the exact same pony she met asking her for....muffins, basically. "I know that pony!"
"You what?" Spike was obviously suprised at this and wanted to know more.
"Yea, I met her last night, Spike, I don't think she did it on purpouse. It was obviously a simple mistake according to the fact that she has 'derp eyes'."
Spike thought for a moment. She was right. "The question is why is it such a big secret?"
"Because I know Zecora made the potion, and I don't want Zecora to be in this all because of her potion."
"But-"
"I don't know how this Pegasus got the potion from her and why she had it up there. Besides, If I knew, it would make you all confused anyway. And I know that for a true fact."
"BUT-"
"Now that I told some pony I fell a lot better! Thanks Rainbow!"
Spike gave Rainbow a nice big hug. Spike pointed to the other bed on the other side of the room after the hug, "You can sleep there tonight, I'm sure Twilight won't mind. Bed is in 10 hours, but I just thought I'd let you knew where you were gonna sleep. Now, come on! I can totally smell some muffins baking!"
Spike raced downstairs, but Rainbow just stood there, frozen, not knowing what to do first. She needed more information about the whole potion thing. But that wasn't on her mind as much. The real question is, what was it about that duck shaped cloud?
Muffins and Pointless Talk.
The Pegasus woke up to a frizzy mane and tail, cool air, and the bright sunlight shining through the window, and of course, THAT CLOUD was still there. The same shape. The same evil, too. Rainbow closed her eyes back for a few seconds, and decided to get up and have back popping 'answer her phone'. She, too, popped her wings, stretched, and 7 minutes later, the laziness faded away and she hopped out of bed. The smell of familiar...muffins...filled the air. What was up with the muffins? She flew gently to the window, looking up and the duck-shaped-puffy-thingy. "So help me...ugh...", she looked to the floor, no tears, but a frown, "The cloud got smaller....that means some of the poison evaporated....and if that potion whatever is now in the air...no pony will be able to go outside again....what if we run out of food in here? There's no room to fly! I won't be able to see my friends faces again except for Spike and Twilight...unless voice chat is a option." Dash didn't know she was talking to herself. Her heart hurt. Maybe some...muffins....will be her medicene. Less likely. Right on the way out, Rainbow heard a scream, witch made her pause. Right where she was. That voice was not close to Twilight's nor Spikes. Rainbow shook her head. Sounded like a high, soft scream. It was still loud enough for Rainbow. It sounded...like a trouble scream. She was just hearing things, she just wasn't herself today. If only Twilight didn't get her so worked up on the cloud. Rainbow's wing picked her up down to the other floor.
"Rainbow!" Well, Spike seemed happy. It was much as if Rainbow's happiness has been passed over to him. "Why didn't you come down last night?" Rainbow had tons of excusses for that. Her mind told her 'pick the most tasty candy out of all of the others from the bag'. "Er, well, uh," "Rainbow Dash!" Twilight to the rescue, turns out there was no tasty candy in the bag. "Hey, Twilight! If...muffins the only thing you have?"
"Why yes. I really have to go to the super market. I'm SO sorry if you hate muffins and your starving, it's the only thing we have. If I could run out right now and get something to eat for you I would, but...you know."
"Y-..uh-huh..." Rainbow knew right of from the bat after what Twilight just said, Rainbow's life was going to be over. From starvation.
Spike looked suprised, "I can tell you didn't feel god last night. Oh, THAT'S why you didn't come down last night!"
Well that was a lie. Well, a fraction of it was actually true.
"Uh, I guess. But something else is bothering me, Spike."
Rainbow Dash ruffled Spike's head with her hoof and walked to the round table, with a huge plate in the middle piled with left over blueberry muffins. The other two walked over with her, Spike was smiling.
Twilight cleared up her throut, Mind to tell us?"
"It's a very short story..." Rainbow paused. Was it okay to tell Twilight some potion was already in the air? There was that scream that she also had to ask. She still had questions about the cloud, and she had to explain why them two plus her is sadly gonna die of starvation! This all would be a GREAT dinner discution. Yet again, the potion from inside the cloud will evaporate more, and the more dangerous it'll be to go outside. "I mean, a long story. Well, I don't know!" Rainbow had only a small amount of time to figure out the right thing to do.
Twilight's eyes brightened. She loved long discutions and figuring out her friends problems. "No need for no tell! You have plenty of time to say what's on your mind, we can even talk about this until it's the day Winter Wrap-Up starts!
Spike sighed and hung his head. Twilight and, maybe Rainbow, was the only one who wanted the whole year to talk about one blob of things. Rainbow, them, chose to tell the important stuff right now. But everything was important! She'll have to just see what comes out of her mouth. Rainbow gasped for air and said as quick as a rapper, "WHEN I WOKE UP I LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW AND SOME OF THE DUCK SHAPED CLOUD WAS GONE SO THAT MEANS SOME OF THE POTION IS ALREADY IN THE AIR SO THAT MEANS WE HAVE NO FOOD AND WE ARE SOON GONNA DIE OF STARVATION AND PLUS IT'S TO LATE FOR CELESTIA AND A FEW PONIES TO COME AND INVESTIGATE SINCE SOME OF THE POISON STUFF IS ALREADY IN THE AIR AND SO ON! AND ON MY WAY OUT I HEARD A REALLY WORRIED SOUNDING SCREAM AND WHAT IS IT ABOUT THAT CLOUD, TWILIGHT, BECAUSE CLEARLY YOU GOT IN ON MY MIND TO MUCH SO COULD YOU PAH-LEASSSE HELP ME OUT ON THIS!?"
Both Unicorn and Dragon paused there, clueless. "Was, that, like, Rainbowian language? I don't speak that language." Spike pointed out. Twilight bonked Spike on the head to make him gasp out an "Ow!" Twilight had a big warm smile on her face and happily said, "Rainbow, like I said, we have all day to talk about this. You can say what you just said again, slowly, understanding, and not so loud."
This feared Rainbow with anger., "OH COME ON! NO! FORGET IT! I"M NOT REPEATING ANYTHING! DO I LOOK LIKE A BIG SQUASHY BRAIN THAT CAN REMEMBER THE LSAT COUPLE PARAGRAPHS THE SPOKE?...." Awkward silence. "Just....drop this whole thing!" Instead of flying, Rainbow Dash stomped her way upstairs, carrying a headache with her. Spike and Twilight looked at each other, confused more that ever.
Upstairs, Rainbow has her face in a pillow. She wasn't gonna say a SINGLE word. But if she said anything, Ponyville wouldn't have a outside world because of dangerous air. No worries, Rainbow has a big plan ahead of her.
