Half the reason I didn't finish this that quickly is because I didn't want another chapter 8. This chapter unlike chapter 8, can be changed around to still fit what I have in store.
sHoUt OuT tImE!
Jhonny Derp for first last chapter.
little dashie, and Nightmare for pre-reading this chapter with me.
J0HNS0N For being epic. I think your my favorite fan yo.
DISCLAIMERS!
The Idea of Vinyl's Cage Corral and Octavia playing DJ Turntables was Wolokai's Idea from his BA Fiction Leap Of Faith: Octavia vs. Rave if you haven't read it. Do so, all of them. His stories are baws. Particularly Don't Go Outside. He had me on an Adrenaline rush in this one chapter because it was so intense.
The idea of Clover belongs to TheGentlemanCreeper from his fiction Purple Haze. Which is also a really good story. Read it.
Chapter 12.1
The Day I Became A Star
It’s been two months since that day. Your days have been relatively the same. Studying during the day, and sex at night, or sex for the first few weeks. Rarity looks like she may have put on a few pounds, but you didn’t dare say anything, or even make it look like you’ve noticed. Though you can tell she has. She’s been a little depressed, and sometimes, when she thinks you aren’t looking, you see her rubbing her belly with a somewhat sad smile…
You didn’t really understand why she would do that. You’ve gotten quite good and magic, and can even fly as fast as Fluttershy! Doorknobs don’t stop you anymore, and you can carry 5 books at once! You’ve made amazing progress, you aren’t a total disgrace to pony kind anymore. You’ve even solved a few crimes. Mostly harmless, but one was fairly serious. A house robbery, and rape. You took a few days off to get to the bottom of that.
Today however, you had a date planned with Rarity. “Sorry Sweetie, I’ll take you out next week, how’s that sound? I’ll take you to the movies and buy you ice cream.” You patted her on the head.
She brightened up and started bouncing around. “You mean it?!”
“I mean it. And you can have two scoops, of any flavor you want!”
She squeed and ran off. You turned to see Rarity dressed in her Grand Galloping Gala dress. “Wow! You look smoking hot! If looks could kill you’d be a weapon of mass destruction!” It looked a little tight, but it only added to the effect. She really did look really good. “You look great! A little over done, but absolutely fabulous!”
“One does not simply over dress for the only five star restaurant in Ponyville. Besides, I have to dress my best for our first real date! I’m so excited that I just can’t hide it!” Rarity was practically bouncing in place like Pinkie she was so excited.
You gave her a quick kiss, and said. “Yeah, me too. I’m just sorry it took me this long to ask you. I never really crossed my mind until you brought it up a few days ago… I feel like a scumbag (Steve) for not asking you sooner…”
Rarity just shook her head, and gave you a long, gentle, caring kiss calming your nerves. “I didn’t think about it either. Until you brought it up. So don’t worry, let’s just go have fun tonight.” You giggle deviously. “You know what I meant Jason! Honestly, is that all you ever have on your mind?”
“No, I just get a kick at the puns I can find in a lot of things. After all, any sentence can have a sexual innuendo if you think hard enough. Hehe, hard. Let’s get going!” You head out the door and lead the way to the restaurant. You are clad in a fine tuxedo you’re even wearing pants, however the hell that works. ’I have to admit, I am one fine stallion all dressed up like this.’ Though Rarity didn’t like having to cut slits in her fine masterpiece for your wings.
Little did Rarity know however, your magic sessions with Twilight ended a while ago, everything you wanted to learn was learned, and you were practicing with a few friends of yours. Unicorns in fact. For a thing you had planned at Vinyl’s place. If everything went as planned, you were finally going to be able to play a guitar again.
You and Rarity were walking down the road, tails intertwined. You occasionally bumped into her giggling. ‘This is going to be a great night!’ The restaurant comes into view. It was a simple looking building. The bushes were cut to look like ponies, and two large ones at the entrance looked like alicorns. There was a pair of fountains next to each alicorn bush. The walls had golden scrollwork inlaid with the red bricks that adorned the outer half of the building. It was really nice or cool.
The inside however, was richly decorated, crystal chandeliers, marble pillars for support. The tables were finely crafted, and made of mahogany. Food smelled great, but you were defiantly going to ask for something with a large serving size. The food on Earth looked like it could feed a five year old. You never understood why some people, or ponies, put so much effort into making the food look like it did. When you made dinner, you always focused more on taste rather than how it looked. Granted you didn’t want it to look like crap, but you didn’t spend five minutes making it look like art.
“*Whistle* This place looks good” You say looking around the joint.
A brown stallion with a lighter brown mane wearing a waist coat, jacket combo walked up to the pedestal you were waiting next to, you couldn’t see his cutiemark. “Hello sir, and madam. Do either of you have a reservation?”
You look at the stallion and say. “Yes we do, it should be under Captain Jason Wander.”
He looks at a book, and reads through it and says. “No I’m sorry, I don’t seem to see your name.”
“Try looking under badass fucking alicorn in front of you!” You say flaring your wings out in a threatening manner. Rarity turn to the left suddenly very interested in that bush. (That’s what she said)
“Oh! My mistake, right this way.” He says nervously.
As you walk through the establishment, you catch the whispers of a few conversations, and hear that mostly people are talking about you. ‘I always thought being popular was going to be cool. How wrong I was…’
You let out a sigh and take a seat. Right in the fucking middle of everything. ‘God damn it… Whatever, I’ll make the best out of this yet!’ The waiter handed you your menu’s and said. “My name is Lean Cuisine, and I will be your waiter this evening. Something to drink to start off?”
Rarity was the first to speak. “Yes, I’ll have a glass of un-sweet tea please. Raspberry if you have it.”
“Apple Juice please.” The waiter nodded and handed you two menus.
“I’ll have your drinks out in a moment.” He then made a slight bow, and left.
You grabbed your menu with your magic, which was a bright white, and had a slightly purple outline to it. Rarity asked you about it, but you didn’t have any idea why. I mean, you’ve only been here for not even half a year.
You were quite proficient in a few languages, so you didn’t have any trouble reading some of the fancy dishes. The problem was going to be finding something with a large serving size. Your waiter came back with your drinks. “Thanks man.” You say taking the drinks from his tray with your magic. He nods and heads off.
“So, you figure out what you want to have for dinner yet Jason?” Rarity asks.
“Not yet. Going to try and find the item that will actually fill me up. The five start restaurants on Earth, cost you an arm and a leg for five bites of food.”
“That’s… absolutely horrid! Why would they do such a thing!?”
You look at Rarity with a blank stare. “You don’t think I’m being serious do you? It’s just an expression. Means it costs you a lot of money. If I had to guess I’d say around one and a half gold bits for a dinner for two.”
Rarity relaxes. “Oh, okay… I must say I don’t care for quite a few of you Earth expressions… They can be easily misinterpreted”
You can only laugh. “Hey, are the serving sizes large, or small?”
Rarity puts on a smug look. “Well, this is one more area where my planet has yours beat hooves down. They are full size meals. They are some of the best meals in all of Equestria. Prepared by the best chiefs from all over the place.”
“Awesome! Then I’m going to get what sounds good.” You go back to looking over the menu with a different goal in mind. Browsing through the menu, you find something that sounds pretty good.
The waiter walked back up to your table. “Are you ready to order?” He asks with a Prench accent
“Uh, I think so. Rarity?” (Flash forward through dinner and mindless conversation. I also don’t wanna describe the food when it gets there, or come up with pony names for food xD)
You pay the bill and get up to leave. “This was awesome! The food was freaking spectacular! Holy shit why didn’t we do that sooner!?” You were flying with Rarity towards your next destination. “Oh hey Rarity! Where we’re going, you might not wanna take any fancy clothes. We’re going to Vinyl’s Cage Coral!”
Rarity stopped dead in her tracks. You floated over to her. “Why on Equestria are you going there?!”
“I have a surprise waiting for you. You’re going to have to trust me on this one Rarity. It’ll be awesome, promise. If you don’t like it, I’ll do that thing you like with your horn.” Rarity’s face went red.
“Very well. Let’s go home so I can take off my dress.” Rarity turns to walk off, but you drop down in front of her. “What are you doing?”
“Check this out.” You close your eyes, and your horn starts to glow, surrounding you and Rarity.
“What are you do-“ There is a bright flash, and a change of scenery. “ing” Rarity gasps.
“Pretty neat huh? Figured out teleportation. Not that hard once ya know how. Head upstairs and take your dress off. Don’t bother fixing you mane, or makeup.”
“Neat? I’d say that’s spectacular! I’ll be just one moment, then we can be off.” Rarity walked up stairs. While you just sat down and thought about which song you were going to play. You decided to wing it. Rarity came down a few minutes later. “Okay, I’m ready to go.” Another glow of your horn and flash later, you were standing at the back entrance to the club.
You give the door a few swift knocks and it opens to reveal Vinyl Scratch. “Sup Jason, glad you could make it. I’ve got everything set up. Heavy Beats, Trixie and everypony else is ready to go to. Get set up, we go live in ten.”
“You got it Vinyl!”
Rarity looked at you confused. “What was she talking about Jason?”
“You’ll see babe. Just remember, you don’t like it, I’ll do tha-“
Rarity turned red again, and cut you off. “Yes yes, I know. I’ll go get myself situated in the crowd I suppose…” Rarity turned to head off
You walked over to the stage area and met with Heavy Beats checking his drums out one last time. “Sup Beats, you ready dude?”
The Unicorn stallion turned to look at you. He was a fairly tall stallion, but wasn’t quite as tall as Big Mac. He was a dark grey with a white mane. A set of drum sticks in a X for a cutiemark. “You bet man… I’m so stoked for this dude.”
You chuckle a bit. “Dude, you been hitting the clover again haven’t you?”
“Hey, a little hit of two leaf calms the nerves. I feel great. Everything is good in moderation, remember?”
“Yeah I do. Alright, glad you ready for this. I’m all sorts of nervous, and before you ask, no I don’t want a hit.” You say cutting him off before he can get any words out of the mouth he opened.
He laughed and said. “Your loss man. It really helps you relax.”
You laughed and shook your head. Walking over to Trixie. “Hey Trix, you ready to rock?”
“Trixie requests you stop calling Trixie that. But Trixie is ready to go. My guitar is tuned and ready.” She says hold her guitar up with her magic strumming a few cords.
“Excellent. See you in five then.” You walk over your own guitar, and pull it out of the case in which it resided. It was a cherry wood Electric Guitar, looked kind of like a Les Paul. You strummed a few cords and tuned it. ‘This is going to be so awesome!’ The rock from Equestria was some of the softer styles of Metallica at its hardest. You were going to show them what true rock and roll was.
Vinyl came (hehe) back stage. “Aright everypony. We’re up.” You slung your guitar over your back, and everypony made their way onto the stage.
Vinyl spoke first. “Wazzap everypony! Are you ready to rock!?” The whole crowd roared with cheering, and the whole building shook with the beating of hooves on the ground. “Alright!! Welcome to Vinyl’s Cage Corral, I’m Vinyl Scratch, and this!” She raised a hoof and gestured to everything before her. “Is my corral!” More cheering and stomping. “Aright everypony, I’ve got a special surprise from you. Our very own alicorn Jason here, has brought with him music from his world. Myself, and everyone on stage right now will play you this music. Let me tell you, it’s different, but it’s something I could get used to!” Everyone on stage were as follows, Vinyl, Octavia, Heavy Beats, Trixie, and yourself.
You stepped forward. “Sup everypony. My name is Jason. When I first heard what you all called rock. I thought it was lacking. It was lightweight compared to the stuff from Earth. So, I’m going to show you what rock ‘n roll is from a society that lives and breathes it!” You were met with a mixed reaction. “Alright, I expected that kind of reaction. I’m going to let our music speak for itself. Vinyl, if you please.”
She nodded. Everyone on stage got ready to play. Guitars floated into the air, and Vinyl’s bass guitar. Heavy Beats picked up his drum sticks and nodded to Octavia who was manning the turntable. Heavy Beats levitated his stick into the air and rhythmically counted too three. “One, two, a one two three!”
As soon as he hit three, music Octavia came in with some synthetic sounds, and Beats started pounding away at the bass drum, and using the smaller ones to accent it. Shortly after, Trixie comes in with a little guitar. Beats adds some symbols into it, and you grab the mic, lean into it, and start singing.
Dead I am the one, exterminating son
Slipping through the trees, strangling the breeze
You take over the repetitive guitar, and let Trixie take over main. You remain silent for only a moment as you start singing again.
Dead I am the sky, watching angels cry
While they slowly turn, conquering the worm
Dig through the ditches,
Burn through the witches
I slam in the back of my
Dragula
Dig through the ditches,
Burn through the witches
I slam in the back of my
Dragula
Trixie start some rapid strumming of the same cords in a catchy timing style that flows nicely with the song, and keeps it up. You resume singing once more while Trixie keeps playing main guitar, and you play back up.
Dead I am the pool, spreading from the fool
Weak and want you need, nowhere as you bleed
Normal playing resumes from lead guitar, and you remain silent for a few moments before you start singing again.
Dead I am the rat, feast upon the cat
Tender is the fur, dying as you purr
Dig through the ditches,
Burn through the witches
I slam in the back of my
Dragula
Dig through the ditches,
Burn through the witches
I slam in the back of my
Dragula
Octaiva messes with some dials, to give your microphone an added effect to make you sound different, and you momentarily change the sounds the background guitar is putting off.
Do it baby, do it baby
You switch your background guitar back to normal while you aren’t singing for right now, but when you start singing again, you switch back to what you were playing before.
Do it baby, do it baby
Burn like an animal
You go back to playing normally, and the synth effects on your mic are undone. However, when you start singing, the main guitar goes silent, and you start playing some rapid high note cords.
Dead I am the life, dig into the skin
Knuckle crack the bone, 21 to win
Trixie’s guitar comes back with a vengeance as you go silent for a moment.
Dead I am the dog, hound of hell you cry
Devil on your back, I can never die
Dig through the ditches,
Burn through the witches
I slam in the back of my
Dragula
Dig through the ditches,
Burn through the witches
I slam in the back of my
Dragula
Octaiva messes with some dials again, to give your microphone an added effect to make you sound different, and you momentarily change the sounds the background guitar is putting off.
Do it baby, do it baby
You switch your background guitar back to normal while you aren’t singing for right now, but when you start singing again, you switch back to what you were playing before.
Do it baby, do it baby
Burn like an animal
Dig through the ditches,
Burn through the witches
I slam in the back of my
Dragula
Dig through the ditches,
Burn through the witches
I slam in the back of my
Dragula
When you start singing after this pause, you all quite down as the first song comes to an end.
Dig through the ditches,
Burn through the witches
I slam in the back of my
Dragula
The crowd roars into life with cheers and hoof stomps of approval. Somehow, a few of them even whistle. “You guys like that?” More hoof stomping, and cheers. “You guys want some more?!” If you thought the crowd couldn’t get any louder, you were wrong. “Alright guys, check this out. This next piece in this inter-dimensional set, is a personal favorite of mine. It also address’s the problems my planet has. In terms of the environment. So to those of you wanting to ask, or to learn more about me, and where I come from, here’s the latter.”
Beats once again starts the band off, if you can call them that, by tapping his drum sticks. Once he hits three, Vinyl, Trixie, and him start us off.
The Indulgence of our lives
Has cast a shadow on our world
Our devotion to our appetites
Betrayed us all
An apocalyptic plight
More destruction will unfold
Mother Earth will show her darker side
And take her toll
You step in with your background guitar, as things start taking off.
It’s just another way to die!
There can be no other reason why
You know we should have seen it coming
Consequences we cannot deny
Will be revealed in time
Glaciers melt as we pollute the sky
A sign of devastation coming
We don't need another way to die
Can we repent in time
The time bomb is ticking
And no one is listening
Our future is fading
Is there any hope we'll survive
Everything goes silent for a moment except for the bass drum. But as you start signing again is a second, everything picks up again.
(Chorus)
Still we ravage the world that we love
And the millions cry out to be saved
Our endless maniacal appetite
Left us with another way to die!!
It's just another way to die!!
Oohh Can we repent in time
Greed and hunger led to our demise
A path I can't believe we followed
Black agenda's rooted in a lie
Will we repent in time
Species fall before our very eyes
A world that they cannot survive in
Left them with another way to die
Are we dead inside
The time bomb is ticking
And no one is listening
Our future is fading
Is there any hope we'll survive
Everything goes silent for a moment except for the bass drum. But as you start signing again is a second, everything picks up again.
(Chorus)
Still we ravaged the world that we love
And the millions cry out to be saved
Our endless maniacal appetite
Left us with another way to die!!
It's just another way to die!!
Trixie steps forward, with her guitar solo. Beats was still playing, and so was Vinyl. So it wasn’t a TRUE solo, but she did steal the spot light. It was a nice part of the song, it kept to the rock ‘n roll side, but at the same time, it had a bit of a depressing tone to it.
Still we ravage the world that we love
And the millions cry out to be saved
Our endless maniacal appetite
Left us with another way to die!!
It's just another way to die...
Oohh Can we repent in time
It's just another way to die...
Oohh Can we repent in time
The crowd was silent. “Yeah I know, my planet is kind of fucked isn’t it? Well, besides that, what’d you ponies think of the song?” This got their attention and they started cheering again. Though not as loud as before. ‘Guess this one might’ve been a little much… Whatever, not my fault they don’t know good music.’
Octavia had at this point pulled he cello out from off stage. The crowd started murmuring between each other. “Easy now everypony.” You said. “This next one wouldn’t be the same without the intro. You’ll see what I mean in a moment.”
Octavia abruptly stood up, cello in hooves, and drew the bow across the strings. After checking the notes, she gives you a nod. She starts playing a soft tune. When the guitar steps in, she backs out. Simply standing there waiting for her next part.
Like walking into a dream, so unlike what you've seen.
So unsure but it seems, 'cause we've been waiting for you.
Fallen into this place, just giving you a small taste.
Of your afterlife here so stay, you'll be back here soon anyway.
I see a distant light, but girl this can't be right.
Such a surreal place to see so how did this come to be,
Arrived too early.
And when I think of all the places I just don't belong,
I've come to grips with life and realize this is going too far.
I don't belong here, we gotta move on dear, escape from this afterlife.
'Cause this time I'm right to move on and on, far away from here.
A place of hope and no pain, perfect skies with no rain.
Can leave this place but refrain, 'cause we've been waiting for you.
Fallen into this place, just giving you a small taste.
Of your afterlife here so stay, you'll be back here soon anyway.
Heavy Beats takes the chorus lines.
This peace on earth's not right (with my back against the wall).
No pain or sign of time (I'm much too young to fall).
So out of place don't wanna stay, I feel wrong and that's my sign.
I've made up my mind.
Give me your hand but realize I just wanna say goodbye.
Please understand I have to leave and carry on my own life.
I don't belong here, I gotta move on dear escape from this afterlife.
'Cause this time I'm right to move on and on, far away from here.
Got nothing against you and surely I'll miss you.
This place full of peace and light, and I hoped you might,
Take me back inside, when the time is right.
Octavia starts playing again, but unfortunately briefly as soon the guitar steps back in, and she backs out once more.
Loved ones back home all crying 'cause they're already missing me.
I pray by the grace of God that there's somebody listening.
Give me a chance to be that person I wanna be.
(I am unbroken, I'm choking on this ecstasy.)
Oh Lord I'll try so hard but you gotta let go of me
(Unbreak me, unchain me, I need another chance to live.)
You and Beats start screaming, as the stage lights up around Trixie as she start burning cords on her guitar in a excellent solo. When it’s finally over, you start singing the final verse.
I don't belong here, I gotta move on dear escape from this afterlife.
'Cause this time I'm right to move on and on, far away from here.
Got nothing against you and surely I'll miss you.
This place full of peace and light, and I hoped you might,
Take me back inside when the time is right.
The crowd roars into life, seemingly cheering onto infinite and beyond. They clearly liked this one better then the last one. ‘Dumbasses wouldn’t know good music if it beat them to death…’ “Thank you all for coming! That’s the last one of the set.”
The crowd starts chanting “Encore! Encore! Encore! Encore! Encore! Encore!”
Closing Notes: Assuming anyone reads this. And assuming I don't just re-do this, IF you want I can add a fourth song. It'd be Dragonforce's Through The Fire and Flames. If you have any other suggestions, I'd listen to them.
