//-------------------------------------------------------// A Spell That Drags? -by Gamepaw- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Original Story //-------------------------------------------------------// Original Story Preparation and Experimenting · 4th Apr 2013 · 1,031 Words It was a casual after closing time in the library same as any day nopony checked books, nopony brought books back so Twilight has plenty of time to look through her copy of `Spells, Charms and More Spells" it was a large dusty tome that had just arrived from Germane, this morning and she hadn't put it down since. It was nearing midnight and she had just finished the reversal chapter which contained all the reversal spells for the previous spells and charms in the book. This final chapter happened to make her scientific mind beam with happiness as the final chapter is named "Unknown, Unfinished, Untested and Unown" the final word giving twilight a mildly effective case of confusion but she brushed it off as misspelling or misplaced word and quickly flicked the page to the first spell in the chapter with a name that is more like a description "A spell that drags" she was about to ignore the spell until she noticed the annotations and actual description "untested - this spell is apparently designed to do create a type dragging force around a object greater than that of a simple levitation spell, however testing has never been carried out and the creator of the spell as never been found" "warning effects may vary" in big bold letters was clearly notable under the description, This was enough for Twilight to want to test this spell out and so she did but she thought bigger instead of simple inanimate object as the book stated she will try it on a live specimen mainly a young dragon named Spike. However the book had asked for a circle of strange looking symbols to be drawn in the center of the room where the spell was to be cast. These symbols all looked very similar in a way they all contained one dark menacing eye or dot to be drawn on them all. This took along time to prepare as Twilight had made sure to get ever symbol correct and in order not off by a millimeter so she had double and triple checked it as well as drawn a mock up on the blackboard located in the library in case the local school ever came for a study session. This had took a large amount of black and white chalk and a large portion of the floor but the symbol circle was finally complete this had taken up a large amount of time due to the fact that Twilight wanted it to be completely perfect. All that was needed was something to test this on. "Spike, Spike" Twilight repeatedly shouted up the library stairs to get her number 1 assistant to wake up. "Come on Spike we don't have all day" she continued to shout up stairs to which for once she earned reply from a specially tired dragon "It`s night time" "Well we don`t have all night then" she retorted a bit more angrily than she was suppose to. "now get down here" she made her final request "fine fine hold on" replied spike still half asleep from being woken up. Spike slowly but finally came down stairs with a still tired expression with a simple question "why did you have to wake me?" "for a spell spike" she replied happily "a spell" Spike deadpanned "yes a spell Spike" she replied still in the happy tone from before "couldn't it have waited until tomorrow" Spike replied with a hint of anger from being woke up "just hurry up and get it over with so I can go back to sleep" "of course Spike" Twilight stated happily "just stand in that spot over there Spike" she directed him and he did as he was told to not prolong this any longer he amazingly did not notice the large circle of symbols that was now occupying a large portion of the library floor "okay then just stand still and you will be back to bed in no time" she replied happily as she levitated the book over to her just to check the spell a final time and with that she put the book back down and took aim with her horn at spike. There she was she thought going to preform a untested unknown spell and with that thought she focused as magic started to spill out of her horn just as little specks in the dark but soon her horn lit up furiously and illuminated the library as well as a good area outside. It was at this moment she noticed that something was wrong and with that she tried to stop the spell but couldn't her horn refused to listen to her continued to funnel away her magic into the area around her before aiming her head up and shooting a colossal ball of magic up into the air where it stayed for a few seconds illuminating the whole of Ponyville before speeding of in the direction of the Everfree Forest before dissipating completely and with that leaving a stunned Spike and Twilight to look at the sky then at each other for a moment before Twilights legs gave out and she collapsed to the floor from the immense overuse of magic the last thing she heard before unconsciousness was Spikes voice shout "Twilight!". Meanwhile over the Everfree the ball of magic shone brightly with the clouds before creating a immense lighting strike which shook the foundations of the castle of The Pony Sisters creating a large crack in the clouds above the castle before dissipating completely. However one more thing had happened during the magic induced storm it created a fast moving blue object was hurtling straight towards Ponyville at speed that would make Rainbow Dash jealous, The speeding blue object was glowing so brightly that it lit up the area around it making it quiet noticeable to the forests creatures. Aftermath · 9th Apr 2013 ·1,229 Words Meanwhile in Canterlot the Lunar princess was rushing through the palace to get to her sister as her night court had been interrupted by a immense magical power that could be felt through any powerful magic user. This in turn had flung Luna back against her throne as the magical shock wave dispersed being more connected to the natural magic of Equestria than that of normal ponies only herself had been affected in the night court after feeling this is what had started her mad dash through Canterlot Castle. It was a good five minutes before Luna had finally reached her sisters chambers and she was out of breath without even knocking she flung the doors of her sisters chamber open to find her sister sprawled out across the floor most likely from the magical shock wave Luna quickly calls a guard to go get a doctor and so he did for the second time that night a pony was racing through the palace. It wasn't long before the doctor and rushed to her side and checked her sisters pulse and with a quick sigh of relief the doctor got up from where he was positioned on the floor and turned back to Luna who had since backed away from her sister to await news from the good doctor. "Your sister is fine, just unconscious." Luna had let out another sigh of relief and waited for the doctor to say more, "She should wake in the next few minutes your highness, but I would recommend moving her to a more comfortable place than the floor." "Err, yes of course doctor. Thank you." She stammered still processing what had happened in such a short period of time. "Only doing my duty your highness." and with this the doctor left and Luna called two guards and proceeded to lift her sister back into the bed and then proceed to wait. An hour passed and Celestia had finally started to stir much to the pleasure of a distressed Luna. With Luna looking on Celestia slowly bit gradually got up from the bed before turning to Luna and asking "Luna? what are you doing here?" "Sister does thou not remember" Luna replied in the old tongue "should I?" Luna had just begun to explain what had happened before quickly getting interrupted by a scroll popping into existence seemingly reading it Celestia`s face had dropped before saying "We are going to Ponyville" before walking out of the room leaving a confused Luna to followed behind the elder sister. When Luna finally got her bearings she asked "Sister why are we going to Ponyville" "Twilight Sparkle is in Hospital after doing a spell that lit up the whole town" this statement had left Luna surprised not thinking that any pony other than her and her sister could do such magic. A little earlier in Ponyville A large group had gathered outside after being abruptly woken by the magic light seemingly looking around for the source but most had given up and went back inside to try and get some more hours of sleep while these ponies dispersed unnoticed by most a small dragon was running as fast as he could through the middle of town straight towards Ponyville General. When finally arriving at the hospital the small dragon was panting trying to catch his breath before going to the desk where Nurse Redheart was stationed  "Nurse...Redheart?" "huh...Spike what are you doing here? and why do you look like you just got chased by a Timber Wolf" the nurse said jokingly "It`s Twilight....she pass..ed out...after doing a spell..." the Nurse taking on a serious tone "Well for you to run here like this it must be serious" "I will send doctor`s out immediately" "I think you should get her friends" "Of Course thank you" Spike replied walking out the door "It`s nice to get thanks for once" she mumbled before heading to get the doctors". After Spending near thirty minutes in the hospital Applejack finally decided to speak up. "Spike ah think the princess should hear about this"  she said in her familiar accent breaking the silence that filled the room. Spike promptly scribbled down the message on the scroll that Pinkie happened to have, even in a saddened state Pinkie is still Pinkie, before burning it in his flame to send to the Princess "She should be here soon" he replied in a sad monotone before going back to sit with the others. They had been taking turns watching Twilight hoping that she will wake up soon even Applejack had seen the light even all the way from the farm just showing how serious this was they all know that Twilight is powerful she had defeated a Ursa Minor by herself but this was different that light was to immense to even look at even from the farm and even after defeating the Ursa she didn`t pass out from that but this was different Applejack was the only one that could fully see the powerful overload since she lived the furthest away. About ten minutes later both Princess Celestia and Luna finally arrived and went straight to the ward that was holding Twilight ignoring the multitude of different bowing ponies. Once they arrived in the ward the remaining elements and Spike bowed but Luna signaled for them to rise while Celestia rushed over to her students side just looking at her in the bed no word was spoken during the time period until a lone doctor walked through the door that all eyes turned to him making him a bit unnerved but he slowly walked over to the bed side where Celestia was standing. "Doctor whats the matter with her" Celestia had asked the doctor once again breaking silence in the room "Well her heartbeat is normal however she has used up most of her magical energy with just a small amount of reserves remaining she is stable and her energy is regenerating it shouldn't be to long before she can be up and about however she will be restrained from using more complicated spells till she has fully recovered levitation should be the maximum of her capabilities till she recovers this normally takes from a week to a month but from information I gathered no spell known should have wiped her magic out like this as I and many others here know that she in`t just a run of the mill pony" he took a breath and Celestia nodded for him to continue "She should be awake within a few hours most likely 5 at maximum but when she wakes make sure she isn't to panicked and doesn't try to use any spells she should wait at least a day before even trying a levitation spell" he took a breath before turning to leave "I will leave the clipboard on the bed for you to read at your desire" Celestia nodded he bowed then walked out of the ward Into the Unknown · 16th Jun 2013 · 1,055 Words In the night sky a blue object was hurtling straight towards Ponyville but just before it reached the towns walls it vanishes into a swirling hole in the sky. The swirling hole did however cause another blue object to be sent hurtling downwards just falling lifelessly and limp straight down into some sort of orchard full of tree`s full with the reddest and brightness of apples. The blue object just landed harshly and suddenly in the tree plummeting down through the tree and resting in a pile with the apples under a tree. "Ugh my head..." bang " ah what the"  I question while glancing towards the top of the tree "oh apples that explains that". "Well" I looking around "I dunno where I am but there is probably a town nearby" I sigh and continue "I really need to stop talking to myself anyway may as well have an apple" this is where things got weird I looked at where I was about to see my hand picking up a apple I see a blue hoof just touching the apple I test it by nudging the apple and as I try the hoof moves and nudges the apple. "WHAT THE?? hooves...hands...hooves I want hands I want to touch stuff" I say nearly as fast paced as Pinkie "hmm this may not be that bad I mean if I have hooves whats to say that I am not a pony I could be in Equestria most likely not but still" I say strangely calm as I somehow manage to get up and notice that I am wearing a cloak "Hmm a cloak... bit random but at least it is clothing" sigh again "I need to stop talking to myself" I state as I start towards the open gate nearby that led to a dirt road and started my trek toward the town one of which I believe to be Ponyville. As I trek to Ponyville I start to wonder what type of pony I am so I decided to check by somehow reaching my hoof towards by head where a unicorns horn should be and what I find is a hard object sticking out of my head which earned a reaction "I`m a unicorn... huh I guess I can use magic then" sigh " really wish I knew how to... I guess I can figure it out later maybe Twilight can teach me" probably a bad idea in hindsight but still. Once I arrive at the outskirts of Ponyville I take a little breather kind of knowing what will happen next. I continue into the town still wearing the cloak from before earning a few strange looks as it is the middle of the day and sunny but I press on to the center of town which is when I see them the mane six looking better in what I hope to be real life than what I imagined. I survey my surroundings trying to see the library so I can start learning magic as a confrontation with Pinkie Pie is not really on my to-do list. As I find the library I move head so it is in front of me again when I notice Pinkie Pie shuddering, which according to the show means a doozey is about to happen which to her friends look around with Fluttershy cowering behind Applejack. Twilight however remains staring at me with those big eyes I go to make a quick wave to try to get her to look away as her beady wide eyed stare is creeping me out. After I finish my wave with Twilight still staring at me, I turn to leave but as I do I hear a pop and I see a flash on the ground. Slowly I turn around and find Twilight standing there still staring slightly reminding me of Slender-man I gulp self-consciously "Uhhh hi?" I whisper out as I slowly back away but as I do something happened which I didn`t expect in the slightest Twilight suddenly had her eyes turn pure white with magic staring at me charging her horn which I can only hope for a teleport spell. I was wrong she fires her magic bolt straight at my newly given hooves which in turn cause me to jump back and causes Rainbow Dash to swoop in and try to stop her with Applejack following close behind but as Rainbow just reaches Twilight, Twilight just hits her straight on with her hoof sending her hurdling straight towards Applejack who had no time to react sending both of them into a bushel of apples. After this act of violence towards her friends I did what any sane person or pony would do and run. That I did not of must use as she constantly fired barrages of bolts at me as her remaining friends stare on in disbelief as Twilight continued her attack I tried to not think about them not hitting but I couldnt stop myself and at that moment I got hit straight in the side and got sent hurtling into a nearby table as I try to get up dazed I could swear I saw some fire from behind Twilight dissipate as I draw my attention back to Twilight I notice that she is slowly walking towards me I try to get up but I couldnt my body hurting to much from the impact as she closes in reaching the table in front of me throwing it a side with her magic I could see the tendrils of intense magic coming out of the side of eyes reminding me a lot of Sombra`s eyes except without of all the darkness. As I begin to brace myself for my impending doom I could only think of how I barely spent a two hours here and already I`m going to die. What happened next seemed to surprise both me and Twilight as a two large bright lights colored White and Blue appear behind Twilight as I start to black out from my Injuries I hear one loud boom sounding the words "TWILIGHT SPARKLE!" Inside A Tree · 25th Jul 2013 · 1,129 Words "Eyelids my friends" I mused to myself. I lay there for a little bid musing over whatever made its way into my head before I turned over opening my eyes what I saw was a two big beady eyes surrounded by pink staring at me. "Hi" I said meekly at the occupant, she just sat there still staring at me that was until a voice called out "Pinkie getta way from him let em rest" that was when she turned to face the southern voice with a simple response "but hes awake AJ" "You better not be joking this time Pinkie" "I`m not" that was when Applejack started heading towards me when she stood over me I looked at her. It was like "I was under study by colorful animals Ironic" I mused in my head. "Pinkie go wake the others up" "okay" was her simple reply it was then I noticed her mane and tail had become straight and dark, I was thinking how did I notice that. Pinkie returned with Rarity and Rainbow Dash with Fluttershy hiding behind, clearly she still lives up the her name. Applejack was the first to speak to me directly. "Hey there Sugarcube" She started in her normal country accent "how yall doing?" It was strange it was like she cared, Im a random person... Well I guess Pony now but still. "I`m thanks" I replied simply "Why am I here?" I knew the answer but confirmation is always good. "Twilight, just started attacking you" she answered "she managed to destroy quiet a few things around town as well before hitting you into the building" she winced "when twilight was calm the Doctors said you where dead" "then yall just started breathing again right in front of us, ah ain`t ever seen anything like it" "So I died?" I asked hesitantly. "Yes" was her simple reply. "What happened to Twilight then?" I asked This time Rarity spoke up "She has locked herself in her room not even letting any of us in she wouldn`t even let the princesses in" "Really" was my reply it was unlike Twilight ignoring the Princess is not like her. "Yes darling"  she replied in her fancy accent "the princess thought it be best that she have sometime alone before we try to talk to her about it". She seemed to be looking me over probably measuring me for a suit or something knowing her "I have to say after your little fray with Twilight your mane is in a real mess allow moi to fix your mane" She said closing in. "That really isn`t necessary" I stammered out. "O but I insist" now with brush in magic "Fine" I gave in knowing how rarity can be this was probably best. Rarity Began to levitate the brush towards my newly acquired mane. I just lay there and let her do her work looking at the bright side that this counts as a free hair appointment. She suddenly stopped and I looked up at her. "Whats the matter?" I inquire. "You have a horn" "So do you" I replied giving her a blank look. "I thought you where a Pegasus" She said with a blank look "Since when do Pegasi have Horns" I replied. "They Don`t" She started to bow "Forgive me your highness" "Your Highness?" I asked quizzically getting odd looks from the other`s in the room as rarity was bowing in front of me. "Your an Alicorn Darling" "I am?" In my head saying yes I can now fly and do magic two of the best things about being a pony. "Yes" She said slightly annoyed. "How does this make me royalty exactly?" I asked seeing if I can annoy rarity a little more "Well, All the Alicorns known are royalty" "Exactly, Known there could be thousands hidden away but nopony knows who or where they are" I asked talking like I actually know stuff. "Why ya`ll talking about alicorns for?" said Applejack who was seemingly interested in the conversation. "Well" Said Rarity turning away from me "Our esteemed guest is actually a..." Rainbow questioned looking at me "All I see is a random Pegasus that Twilight attacked" Before Rarity managed to retort to that I but in and said "Well Rainbow" putting a slight tone of spite on the words "according to rarity here I am an esteemed guest because of this" I said Pulling my mane back that was covering my horn. You could see her visibly deflate like a sad pinkie. "I am so sorry your highness" Rainbow Dash quickly said while bowing. While this amused me slightly that I managed to make Rainbow deflate I still find all this royalty stuff annoying. "Get up, Rainbow I am not actually royalty" I said while smirking. "Your Not?" she asked "Nope" "But your an Alicorn" "and your a Pegasus" This is feeling like deja vu "At least we wont be having having an identity crisis anytime soon" "Let me but in here but if ya`ll is an alicorn how come your not royalty" "Well Applejack, the answer is quiet simple actually" "Well what is it then" "Im just not, no big explanation I am simply a un-royal alicorn" looking at Applejacks face this wasn`t a very good answer to her question. "So then" I started "Let`s see if we can coax Twilight out of her little hole". I said hopping to my hooves surprisingly easily for somepony who just got flung into a building. "But the princess said to leave her be" stated Rainbow Dash. "Yes, but remember what happened last time you ignored Twilight" I replied back. You could feel the mood in the room change instantly at that. The Room The Door and The Unicorn · 4th Nov 2013 · 1,056 Words "So" quickly changing the subject. "Where is Twilight" "In her room" Rainbow Dash replied "Where else?" "Okay now that we narrowed that down, where is her room" "Turn around" Rainbow replied with a small smirk. So I turned around and saw probably the most useful thing in existence stairs and one door at the end convenient. "Oh" was my short reply. So I headed upstairs surprisingly easy considering I have only been a pony for about a day the walls still adorned with multicolored books about mostly useless things but still something to look at other than stairs. A thing that was weird in my opinion was why there was a railing when ponies walk on four legs unless this library caters to bipedal creatures generally it seems pointless. So reaching the little balcony looking over the main library was a single door, making it an easy choice. I tried to turn the knob but with hooves it was not exactly easy, so I decided on the other option knocking. "Go Away!" Twilight shouted through door. "No, open the door" "No" Twilight replied. Apparently asking won`t be very effective so time for a tactic change. "If you dont open the door I will give Pinkie Pie Coffee" this should be very effective. I heard the unhitching of locks from the door as it slowly opens. As I finally saw Twilights face inside. "Your Alive?" was her surprised greeting. "I hope so" was my reply while smirking all the way through it. "How about you come down and talk to your friends". "Fine." "Really?" was my shocked reply. "Yes, just please whatever you do don`t give Pinkie coffee" "Its a deal" was my reply. "I cant believe that worked" was what I was mulling over in my heard. So me and Twilight headed down stairs where her friends where waiting. As we reached the bottom Rainbow came to me. "How did you get her to come down?" She questioned. "We tried everything." "Well" I started "It involved giving a certain pony coffee" "Who?" "I think you can guess who" "Pinkie?" "On the nose" I said emphasizing my point by bringing my hoof to my muzzle. I went to go sit back on the couch that had apparently been my home for most of the day. I got on the couch and just lay there watching as Twilights friends comforted her. Pinkie was back to her normal bubbly self with the return of Twilight. Im sure in the back of her head she is thinking "no coffee, no coffee" over and again while talking to her pink friend. After a little bit I went to go read the covers of the book`s lining the walls of the tree library nothing was really interesting mostly magic books and some novels about old dead ponies and some guides. Wishing for a TV or the internet was all I could do in this situation as while I enjoy reading all these books sound incredibly boring. I was going to go back to the couch but then Twilight showed up. "Rainbow said you had something to show me?" She asked quizzically I looked around her to see her friends onlooking with a quick glance at Rainbow showed she was pointy at Rarity`s horn while displaying her wings at the same time. "Okay then" I replied "Look at me, what do you see?" "I see a pony" she stated matter of factually. "What type of pony?" I quizzed. "A Pegasus" She Answered unsure of where this was heading. "Wrong" I quickly said "A golden rule of books dont judge a book by its cover" This made Twilight give me a confused look and with that I pulled the top part of mane back with a hoof and showed in all of its magical glory my horn. "What?.." She stuttered "Your..." Twilight passed out after finished that not so intelligent question apparently she figured out that she just nearly killed an Alicorn. Im going to have to answer quite a few questions when she wakes up I just know it. Onlooking her friends rushed up to all the while having a little look of guilt on each of their faces even Fluttershy who probably had nothing to do with it. "So, you tried to prank Twilight?" I started "When I had just gotten her to come down as well" They all nodded guilty. "I am going to have to answer a lot of question when she wakes up, right?" "Yall can say that again" stated Applejack "Shell be wonderinhow a Alicorn suddenly appeared out of nowhere for no reason" Smart and possibly insulting was Applejacks finished sentence "For the mean time just put her on the couch so she can`t lock her door like she did before" as they laid Twilight down on the couch a small dragon happened to enter the Library. "Spike!" Pinkie shouted as she ran to him "Write a letter" quick and to the point this is how all conversation should be. "Er... sure Pinkie, what about" he said while walking over to the desk where a parchment and quill where waiting for him. "Ready, Pinkie" "Actually Spike let me handle this" butted in Rarity "Anything for you Rarity" said Spike with his googly eyes set on Rarity "Dear Princess Celestia,                                      Twilight has come out of her adobe and is now asleep on the couch in the downstairs library. We have talked to her and she appears to be fine. Along with this there is a pony here I am certain you will find quite interesting.                                                                             Your Loyal Subject,                                                                                      Rarity Another Alicorn Enters The Building · Not Released · 767 Words We waited about an hour for the princess to reply and with no reply the last thing we expected was a knock, it startled Rarity out of her stupor and Spike went to go get the door. I gazed my attention over to door moving what surprised me was that Celestia suddenly appeared through the door frame. All the ponies and the one Dragon in the roomed bowed to their new visitor. I merely watched. Celestia scanned the room, she didnt even seem to acknowledge the existence and instead went straight to Twilight. It was understandable since she had basically raised her but ignoring the others that wasnt like her. "Twilight" Celestia whispered delicately to the sleeping unicorn. "Twilight" she tried again nudging her slightly. Everypony and dragon just watched normally Celestia was like an omnipotent being that watches and knows everything but here she was, acting like, a normal pony. The nudging seemed to work as Twilight began to move and turn towards Celestia. "Five more minutes" she murmured clearly still wanting sleeping. She groggily looked up and saw Celestia looking at her with a smile. "Princess, Im sorry I didnt know it was you." The princess continued smiling. "It`s okay my student you have nothing to be sorry for" She said reassuring the lavender unicorn. "Princess?" "Yes, my faithful student" "Do you have a brother?" I think a few ponies eyes grew when they heard clearly understanding what brought this on. "No, Why do you ask" apparently Celestia`s turn to ask some question. "Well.." She began but was interrupted this time by me. "I think I can explain this one" I said walking over to them. "Princess, when you look at me what do you see?" Clearly this was a reoccurring theme for today. "I see a blue Pegasus Stallion, why do you ask?" "Well" I started moving a forehoof to my mane that still was in need of some fixing and pulling my mane back revealing my horn "not exactly." This time it was Celestias turn to go bug eyed clearly thinking that she and her sister are or were the only two Alicorns. "So, your an Alicorn?" Celestia calmly stated "Yes" "How exactly?" Celestia stated again with the same calm state that was chilling to the touch. "I am not sure." "So you just are?" "Yes." The Air in the room felt colder as Celestia continued with the question with the same calm voice. "I noticed you have not once stated my title while we talked." "Ermm, no" I replied hesitantly. She Smiled at me. "It has been so long since somepony has done that."  She continued smiling however you could see the small hint of sadness in her eyes as she stated this fact. With that she turned and faced the other ponies. "I apologise for my short visit, however I must take leave as I may have left Luna with the nobles too long, but before I go one last question" She looked at me and said "What is your name young pony?" "My name?" I questioned I havent had to think of that yet. "So" I started "how did it go?" scanning the room I saw the seven inhabitants just staring at me. "What?" "I have never seen anyone talk to the princess like that before" Rarity started "You completely ignored her rank and title" she finished in a calm monotone similar to that of Celestia`s. "So, Doesn`t she always tell ponies to not address her by her title?" "Well, Yes" she stated quizzically "Then what`s the problem?" "You just don`t" clearly fed up by now. "Why?"
