Chapter 1: The beginning

"Im SO BORED!" said Daring. "Want a muffin?" asked her sister, Ditzy Doo. "No thanks".  Daring's mind was blank. It was a rainy afternoon inside the house, boring as usual. Daring and her sister Ditzy lived in Hoofington, a very boring town. Nothing ever really goes on there, except for the casual visits from the princesses. Ditzy and Daring were little fillies back then, so they didn't have any cutie marks. "Girls! Its time for lunch!" The two girls trotted downstairs to the kitchen where their mother was waiting. Their mother was an yellow-maned blue pegasus named Sassaflash. The two mares sat down for dinner as their mother served them. Daring looked down at her plate with a non-impressed expression. "Ugh. Isn't this the same kind of sandwich we had YESTERDAY?" daring said in an unenthusiastic matter. "Daring! Eat your Daffodil and Daisy sandwich, and don't complain!" Ditzy Doo gobbled up her sandwich, while Daring unwillingly ate it. After she was done, she looked out the window into the Everfree Forest, wondering what kind of cool creatures she could be out there battling, and what kind of treasures she could be retrieving.

Later on, when Daring and Ditzy were older, Sassaflash took Daring and Ditzy into the forest for an "adventure". Ditzy Doo went back to the house to find her canteen, while Daring and her mother were waiting in the forest. Then, something terrible happened. Out of nowhere, a dark-blue creature with a light-blue belly, came and attacked Sassaflash, leaving her with scratches on her ear, leg, face, stomach, and across the chest. "Mom! Are you alright?!?" Daring practically yelled. "Daring, My time has come. But before I go, I need to tell you something very important..." Daring looked at her with tears in her eyes. "Just remember.... I will always be with you. If you feel lonely, just look up at the stars, and I'll be there. G-goodbye, D-daring. I love you. I always will." Her eyes slowly closed, and she stopped breathing. "No... No! Don't leave me mom! Don't Go! Please!" Daring said with tears running down her face. "Don't...leave me...now...please...."
