I jolt awake, forgetting the dream I had in almost an instant. It seemed like it was something important... I climb out of bed and when my feet make contact with the ground they went, 'Houston, we have a problem!' and I rolled onto the floor with a loud thump, again. I look down at my feet and see why I fell. Well, not feet. Hooves. Freaking pony hooves, with grey fur sprouting up around my cutie mark and my hooves. I stumble a few more times when I try to walk, but I eventually get the hang of the hooves. Thankfully I still have hands. I open the bathroom door, without turning the light on. I don't want to see if there are any more changes until I go pee. Bad idea. I promptly piss on the floor and slip, banging my head on the toilet. In my many attempts to get back up, I finally turn on the light and see that something definitely is missing. "Well... Shit." I say out loud as I notice that I am not the same gender as I was when I fell asleep. I look in the mirror and see that my face is now much more feminine than it was before, with the long yellow hair and the ears poking out the top of my head. I am about to faint when I hear knocking on my door. Not my bedroom door, but my front door. I am about to jump out a window when a familiar voice sounds from my door, it sounded... British.
"Ello in there! Anyone in there?" The familiar voice called. I stay still, knowing that hooves make a ruckus. I don't want to give away any hint that anyone is in here. I hear some form of buzzing sound coming from the lock, and the door swings open. I am tempted to call 911, but that would be a bad idea considering I am half-pony. "Anyone here?" I hear the voice closer. I don't remember anyone that sounds like that, it just seems, familiar.
"Yes, I'm in here." I don't know why I just said that, but I do know that I sound VERY female. I redress and walk out to see a person, well pony, standing in my house. He looks about the same stage of ponyness as I'm in. He looks just as much of a freak as I am. "Who are you?" I ask nervously.
"Well, I am the person you replied to on Yahoo Answers. Oh and by the way, that wasn't a very good answer." He answered. "And who are Derpy and Dinky? I don't even know what is going on! I'm normally good at knowing what's going on at every point in time, and where it's going to happen."
I fight the urge to sarcastically reply that he is turning into a pastel cartoon pony, and succeed. Instead I ask, "How did you know where I lived?"
"Are you going to answer all my questions with more questions?" He asks, annoyed. "Well, I happen to just know these things... It just pops into my head without even trying. I also get weird times where I feel like I'm not where I'm meant to be. Like this isn't the world where I live... This transformation feels... natural." I don't follow most of things he said, but it sounds like he doesn't feel... Right.
"Well, I know what your turning into, but you may not like it-" I attempt to say.
"I know that I might be turning into a small equine of some sort, with brown fur and...the next day I found...And then...Maybe if we introduce quantum physics into whats happening it might...All in all, I just don't really know how this is possible! Unless someone found out how to use quantum physics and genetic modifications, it just doesn't make any sense!" When his rambling finally stopped, and I was snapped out of the trance of sleep, I answer his questions with one thing alone. I don't even need to talk, I just take a DVD out of its case, slide it into my DVD player, and turn it on.
I tell him to sit on the couch as a fan-animated Doctor Whooves episode flashes on the TV. He doesn't argue.
"Oh typical Cheshire Cat! Clever but oh so frustrating!" Doctor exclaimed happily.
"You... You were at the beginning of all of this, weren't you?" Clockwork (The other Doctor) replied. "You made sure that both of us were in the same place at the same time! If we hadn't been-"
"Into the void, quite hard to avoid, really." The Cheshire cats riddled, "But we have our ways..."
"CARROT AND HIS SAGES WERE FOOLS, MY HUNGER WILL BE SATED. Besides, who are you to be chosen as swords. A broken weapon is of no use." The jabberwock interrupted.
"Who are we? Well, that simply answer is the Doctor." The Doctor answered.
"But how do we... Do this...?" Clockwork asked. "Oh come on! Think!"
The jabberwock cut in, "The two of you? There is no worse pair. I have seen the worlds beyond the void, the only thing you truly hate, with a passion greater than all the evil you may face. Is yourself. You should aid me. If the universe has ended, then it will no longer require a Doctor."
"Well, that's a fine offer, but I know for a fact that I would hate myself even more if I chose to ever go down the same path as you, Jabbers. The Doctor refused.
"Indeed, I may hate myself. I mean, this particular incarnation is rather rash, annoying, hyper, rambly-" Clockwork started.
"Yes, and your an overly grammatical stick in the mud, who takes everything far to seriously." The Doctor laughed. "But really, everyone has to learn to accept their own flaws, don't they?"
"Yes, even when those flaws are staring you right in the face." Clockwork added. "And there's one thing that I, in any world, any incarnation, no matter how much I hate myself, wouldn't allow."
"Don't think you can trick me with your lies." The jabberwock replied.
"Oh, I think I know myself well enough to know that I wouldn't lie about a thing like this." The Doctor answered. "Your threatening the very existence of universes. Universes that are full of brilliant lives and endless possibilities!"
"And the universe my companion lives in!" Clockwork added. "Can't have that happen, now can we? No matter how much I may not like me, this takes priority. And now you have not one. Oh no, not one. But TWO doctors to deal with. Your a really bad planner aren't you?"
"Talk all you want, but what good are mere words? You can't stop this!" The jabberwock cut in.
The screen went black after that last phrase. What? I thought there was more to that? I have watched that disk many times, and it ended with Derpy and Twilight. The two companions. Charging in and attacking the jabberwock. There was this epic battle, then they are sent back to their own dimensions and Derpy returns to Dinky hiding in an alley, with Discord battling Rainbow Dash, and it happens to be right when the Season Five Finale ended. Wait, that can't be right... This DVD was made a few years before Season Five even aired! I tried to fish the thought out of my mind as if it were stuck in ice. It wasn't budging. I suppose I will have to wait for the ice to thaw then! I keep trying to drag the thought out, as if I had just caught a shark with a fishing pole, and I was trying to reel it in. 'Remember'. A voice inside my head was trying to make contact, but I just shrugged it off. Go away freaky voice thingy! I don't want you here right now! I had a mental disorder when I was a kid. I had a voice in my head, telling me to remember. Remember what? I tried to ask it, but it only said 'Remember'. 'Remember everything.' It said something different. I am about to ask what everything is, but I am interrupted by a splitting pain in my back. I fall off the couch as my spine feels like its about to snap. I notice 'The Doctor' shout in surprise, lean over and ask if everything is alright before my vision goes dark. When I try to get up, my head falls over and hits the wood paneling, causing me to black out.
"C'mon... C'mon... Wake up Derpy... Please wake-" I roll over on the ground as I accidentally hit The Doctor in the face with... Umm... Oh.
"Well, that wasn't there before." I say out loud as I notice long wings expanding from my back. "Well, it was bound to happen!" Normally, a pain like that wouldn't hurt enough to make me black out. But I had a very weak backbone, so it made it hurt much more than it should. I almost blacked out again. The sheer craziness of the fact I grew wings was enough to make me lightheaded. "How long was I out?" I ask as my stomach grumbled. I walked over to the fridge, losing my balance several times due to my new wings...
"About twenty-seven hours, nineteen minutes, and forty-one seconds." The Doctor answered. "Forty-two and a half seconds."
"You kept track of all that?" I ask as I open the fridge and take out some pre-mixed muffin dough. "Wait... holy shit? I was out for a whole day?"
"According to my math, yes. Approximately 5 hour-" The Doctor replied.
"Okay, I get it. No need for math ramblings..." I interrupted.
"But I like saying my accompany-" The Doctor was cut off again.
"No buts." I replied. "I never got your name. What is it?"
"I... don't really have a name..." The Doctor shyly answered. "My parents died when I was two years old. I didn't have any friends, so no one needed to call me anything. Anything anyone every called me was either 'him' or 'that strange kid'."
"Oh, that's so sad to hear! Oh, um, right... My name... It's Seth. Seth Arbitross." I replied.
"That's a strange name for a girl..." The Doctor speculated.
"I wasn't always a girl...."
"You weren't? Oooooh, right. Transformations. Gotcha." Realization of something hits me like a bullet.
"Do you know where Kate is?"
"Who's Kate? Your daughter? Haven't seen her. She is upstairs." I say that I have to check on her and run upstairs. Man, he can be sooo weird. He can tell whats going on and where. I find her laying in her bed, curled up in pain. I notice that she grew a new appendage as well. A horn. Great. Thankfully she was still the same gender. Dinky was female after all. Figures that I'm the only one that has to change gender. I poke Kate to wake her up. She winces in pain, but her eyes open.
"Owwww..." She groaned painfully.
"You okay?" I ask nervously.
"No..."
"Anything I can do to help?"
"I don't think their is a painkiller for 'Growing a horn'"
"Well, hey, looks like we are in the same boat on this." She climbs into a sitting and sees that I have wings. I cut her off before she starts rambling. "And we have a visitor."
"A visitor? Isn't that a bad idea considering we are turning into ponies?"
"First, we don't know how far this will go. Second-" I heard the voice again. 'You don't know?' The voice asked. Well, there's a problem...' What do you mean? 'I mean that-'
"Dad?" Kate interrupted. "You okay?"
"Uh... Yea... Hang on Dinky." I say as I walk out the door. I close the door behind me as she mumbles something.
"She okay?" Doctor asked from downstairs.
"Uh... Yea." I mumble. "I'm heading up to the roof if you need me." Thankfully the roof is somewhere no person every goes. Its always covered with trash and litter. I head out the door and walk up the apartment stairs up to the roof and, like always, is empty. It is still covered in trash and aluminum cans. Puddles were scattered across the roof. "Alright, we can talk now." I say to the voice.
'Good.' Alright, first off. Whats your name? 'My name is Ditzy' Wait, Ditzy? Isn't that Derpy's real name? 'Not really. Well, not the dimension that I'm from.' Dimension? Your from a different Dimension? 'Yes.' How is it like there? And how can you talk through dimensions? 'It's peaceful here, no Discord ruling here. And I don't have a physical body or mass. In this dimension, there is no mass or shape. It's all just living subconscious's that live here, that are bound to a body from different dimensions. If someone tries to get rid of the 'voice in their head', we die with it. So, when I tried to get rid of you when I was younger- 'You almost killed me.' Oh, well, sorry. I didn't know you were a living being. I thought you were a mental disorder. I subconsciously started flapping my wings and my hooves lift off the ground. 'Forget about before, together we can overcome anything, if you can remember.' Remember wha- Oh well, uh. How'd this happen. I notice that I was flying high above the cloud layer. I panic and my wings stop flapping. 'Remember.' A memory of this happening when I was younger snapped into my head. When I was learning to fly, I tried going really high up, and I got scared and fell. Wait, I didn't have wings when I was younger! 'Remember.' I close my eyes and think. I do... I do remember. My wings expanded from my sides, and I start flapping. I open my eyes and see that I hovering. I land on a cloud and twenty-five years worth of my life, my life, not this human form's memories. My memories. All coming back at once.
"Mom! Hurry!" Dinky called from under a rock. We were out collecting special berries for our "Secret Recipe Muffins" when a hydra started rampaging around the Everfree Forest. I dived under the rock and fell into a cave, almost splashing into the pool that occupied it.
"Isn't this the Mirror Pool? Y'know the one that Pinkie Pie used a few months ago when there was the big 'Pinkie Storm'?" I ask.
"I think so." Dinky answered cautiously.
"We should better stay on the other side of the cave of it, so we don't fall in. Just until the hydra goes away."
"Mom? When we get home can we make muffins?" Dinky asked from the side of the hospital bed of which I was in. I took a nasty crash when delivering mail one day. I broke my wings, so I had to stay in the hospital for a few days. 'Might as well be a few days, or a few years!' Rainbow Dash would have said. Thankfully I wasn't as rash as Rainbow. I just took the few days as an excuse to get away from work. It was summer, so all the fillies and colts always wanted to send a letter to their friend asking if they could come and play, or if their friend could come over to the local park and play.
I was trying to get a letter sent as fast as I possibly could, so I could get off work early and spend the rest of the day with Dinky, but when I tried to slow down, I ended up flipping forwards and falling to the ground with a big THWUMP. Unfortunately, the most sensitive part of me, my wings, took the brunt of the crash, which ended up breaking them.
I woke up and I noticed that I was still on the cloud. Then I remembered that I was still on Earth. Clouds move on their own. I look down and see massive fields. Thankfully, I have my phone in my pocket. I pull it out of my coat pocket and as I'm about to flip the phone open when I notice that I no longer have fingers. Or hands. Hooves. I now have hooves for hands, as well as feet now. Well, can't type on a phone with hooves. Didn't know the Doctor's phone number anyways. 'C'mon Derpy, you know your way back! You are a mailmare after all. You know where you've been and how to get back the way you came! It's in your DNA!' Derp. I quickly remember how to get back knowing which way I came and which way the wind is blowing. If the wind blew the clouds east, then I have to go west!
After I made preparations, I started flapping my wings and lifted off the cloud. After I was about twenty feet above the cloud, my wings spread to my sides and I bolted forwards much faster than I expected. My mind's dashboard kept me up to date on how fast I'm going, where I am, and what direction I'm going. Man... good thing I'm turning into Derpy. Derpy gets all the cool stuff. 60 mph... 75 mph... 120 mph... Um... I'm going a bit fast... I try flapping my wings to slow down, but the wind stops me from doing that. 185 mph... I try angling my wings up, which causes me to go 185 miles per hour UPWARDS. Well, I slowed down, but now I'm two thousand feet UP. I start to hover, and then I try flapping slower. I slowly go down, but at this rate I wouldn't be getting anywhere for a while. I notice a small cloud below me, and I stop flapping my wings. I start to drop extremely fast, faster than I thought possible. I try to start flapping my wings, but again, the amount of wind kept me from doing so. When I hit the cloud, it knocks the breath out of me. After a few regaining my breath and actually become able to stand up, I turn around. WELL, my brain just exploded. Thirteen times. In front of me is a familiar blue box. How it could be here, or why it is here, is completely out of my mind. But I do know that it wasn't there when I landed. The door to the police box opens and I see a brown stallion inside beckon for me to enter. "So I take it you can fly now?" The Doctor asked.
"Uh... yea." I replied, dumbfounded. "This is a TARDIS. How is there a TARDIS on this planet!?!"
"Oh? This old thing?" The Doctor answered. "That's what its called. And this thing has been sitting around my garage for a few years now. How do you think I got to your house from Britain in so little time?"
"But... Its... A... TARDIS. A TARDIS. BUH- WHA- TARDIS-"
"Oh, and I turned your TV into a quantum processor in order to make this thing work again. It kinda got old from sitting around for so long."
"You turned my TV into a what? I'm gonna want another TV y'know."
"Oh, this thing has a TV. It has a whole theater room."
"Uh... Right, bigger on the inside."
'Do you want a ride home? Or are you just going to sit on that cloud all day?" He says and I walk into the TARDIS, still dumbfounded by the fact it exists. Well, can't have a Doctor without the TARDIS can ya? "It was kinda hard getting here, pretty hard operating this thing with hooves." As the TARDIS starts whirring and buzzing, the world around me start shifting away into blackness.
"Derpy!" The Doctor shouted as the planet started to crumble apart. "C'mon Derpy! We have to get out of here! The planets going to explode in five minutes!" After the voice of the Doctor brought me out of the stream of memories of my childhood, I started to run with him. We were almost to the TARDIS, in fact, the Doctor was already inside. As I was about a few tail-lengths away, a huge chunk of ground slid into the molten core of the world, and It was in the area in-between me and the TARDIS. The Doctor opened the door to the TARDIS when he heard the loud noise outside, and called out to me. "Derpy! You have to jump! Its the only way you can make it!"
"No! There's no way I can jump that far, and my wings are broken so I can't fly!" A giant chunk of land fell behind me as I said that.
"You have to jump! I'm not leaving without you!" I am pulled between the logical solution, and the solution that keeps me alive. As soon as I think of those choices, I immediately choose the second.
"JUMP!" I shout as I run and lift my self off the ground with my hooves. I open my eyes and I see that I am falling, though still at the top of the arc of the jump. I think I'm not going to make it as I fall below the ground level. Then a hoof grabs mine. I feel myself getting pulled up into the TARDIS as I fall unconscious.
My eyes crack open as I see that I am still on a cloud. Below me is the apartment's roof. All the clouds were in the same place as they were when I fell asleep. Whew, It was just a dream... I look at my hands and see that they are indeed still hands. Well, I can't tell if that's either good or bad... I jump off the cloud and and spread my wings to slow my descent. When I land on the roof, my wings fold up. I look at my watch, and see that I fell asleep five minutes before. Weird... It felt like hours. I wonder if this is actually a dream. I punch myself in the face, expecting not to feel it. Definitely felt it. I fall backwards onto my back, with major pain in my head. Probably shouldn't have hit myself that hard... Well, too late now! I walk down the stairs as I notice that hooves make a really loud racket. I try stepping lighter, but it still makes a loud sound when I put my hoof down.
When I get down to my apartment, I remember that I have a mail run later today... Shit! How am I supposed to deliver mail without getting seen? Wait, wings... I could get it done much faster. I open the door and walk inside, saying that I would be right back, and grabbing my mail bag. I sling the bag around my shoulder and start to flap my wings. I fly high enough that I will be able to see where I am dropping the mail, and making sure people can't see me. I start my forward motion and start dropping the mail with extreme accuracy. Every single letter and newspaper lands just at the door of each house, and I didn't even get seen! Within twenty minutes, I had all the mail delivered. Okay... now I just have to get... down. I notice that I am way high up to just fall, and there are no clouds below me to land on in order to get a safer landing. My wings are getting really tired, almost to the point of giving out on me. I think that I could glide down to the ground, and I expand my wings out to my side. I immediately start going quickly. Okay not quickly... REALLY quickly. Like, 120 mph fast. 121 mph, 126 mph. According to my brain, I am pickup speeds really quickly... I'm going 5 mph faster every second. 142 mph. I see my apartment in the distance, and I'm nowhere close to the ground. I start to angle my wings down, and I see that I am now going very quickly, now slightly downwards. 197 mph. As I am about to hit the ground I tilt my wings up and start flapping them. That slows me down a lot, but I was still going 60 mph when I hit the ground. I landed squarely on my legs, and I stop completely without getting injured. Wow, why didn't I get a pair of hooves earlier? These are amazing!
I walk over to my apartment and open the door, when I put my bag down and see that Kate and the Doctor are havnig a conversation about... Fishing poles? Ah, nevermind. "I'm going to bed." I tell them that I'm tired from flying, and need to go to sleep.
"You can FLY?!?" Kate exclaimed. "Whycan'tIflyohrightIdon'thavewingsbutIshouldbeabletousemagicshouldn'tI?"
"Slow down! I can't understand you when you are in Pinkie Pie ramble mode." I joked.
"What I said is that I should be able to use magic, shouldn't I?
"Considering that the Dinky in the show could, and I can fly, I'm assuming that you can. Try thinking of something that might help with what you are to do with your magic."
"I think I will try levitating something. Maybe the TV remote?"
"Alright, try thinking of picking up the remote with your hands. Then try to think of your horn as a hand to pick things up with." She started to pick up the remote, then dropped it once she was amazed by the fact she picked it up.
"I used magic! Did you see that? It hovered!" Kate giggled happily.
"Yes, you did. Try picking it up again, but keep the thought of picking it up in your head." She made the remote hover again, but it didn't fall this time. "Now try bringing it over to you." The remote slowly hovered over to Kate as she giggled with delight. "Now try pressing a button on it." The power button slowly slid down as the TV screen flashed to life.
"MY LITTLE PONY, MY LITTLE PONY... AH AH AH AAAAAAH..."
"Wh- Where am I?" I wake up as I am in a demolished town. There's dust blowing all over it and all the houses are crumbled. I don't see any signs of life, or any signs that there could have been life for hundreds of years. That is, until I see a greyish-purple horn poking out of the rubble of one of the houses. The rest of the pony that the horn is attached to becomes visible as the pony stands up. "Dinky!" I call, but she doesn't notice me call to her. Another figure appears from the distance. "Doctor?" I call, but he doesn't hear me either.
"Don't worry Dinky, were safe, we just need to wait for Derpy." The Doctor whispered to Dinky as a loud rumble sounded.
"I'm right here!" I call, but even if they could've heard me, my voice was cut out by the rumbling sound. I saw some of the buildings crumble even more as the world started to faintly shake. I saw some sort of dark smoke in the distance, and it was coming closer.
"Doctor!" Dinky called, "We need to get out of here! Now!"
"No... I'm not leaving without Derpy!" The Doctor was tearing up now. "Come at me! If you've got Derpy then I'll fight you for her!"
"Oh, silly ponies." A menacing and low voice called from nowhere. "Always trying to be big shots. Well I'll show you who's in charge here!"
"Dinky, Go!" The Doctor order. "To the TARDIS, it is set to autopilot, It will take you to the moment before this evil got here!" Dinky ran as fast as her little legs could carry her to the blue box in the distance. She jumped in and it started to fade when the shadow began to talk again.
"Silly Doctor, you of all ponies should know that won't keep her safe." The shadow declared as the Doctor took out his sonic screwdriver and pointed it at the shadow. "You think that measly little device can do anything against me?"
"No, but it's really good at opening doors, and I think I feel Pinkie Pie Having a Ear flop, Eye flutter, and Knee twitch." The Doctor answered courageously.
"Um... what exactly does that-"
The door to the remains of Sweet Apple Acre's cellar swung open as the sonic screwdriver made a buzzing noise. The shadow was drained down into the cellar, leaving a figure floating in midair. "Oh, good job little pony... you managed to get me out of my disguise! Lucky you. Unfortunately, that luck will only last you so long..." The floor below the Doctor started to crumble, sending him into the black abyss as Discord laughed overhead.
"You... You, bring my Doctor back RIGHT NOW! You hear me? RIGHT NOW!" Discord didn't seem to hear me, as if I wasn't even here. I got so angry that I just charged at discord with immense speed, thanks to my wings, and smashed right into him.
"What! How? I thought I got rid of you measly little pony a long time ago! How could you be here now?" Discord asked angrily.
"I'm the Doctor's assistant! I have my ways." I glared at Discord, who was just getting back up from when I knocked him over. "And you, Discord, are not being nice!" I buck Discord in the face with my hind legs and he gets sent flying back. I fly up after him, not giving him a chance to recover, and pummel him in the face with my front hooves. "I may not be as smart as the Doctor, but I know that you..." I buck him in the stomach as such an angle that he goes flying upwards. "...are..." I fly up to him and kick him sideways. "...a..." I circle around him and kick him downwards. "Bully!" I say as I slam him into the ground. As I notice that he isn't getting back up again, at least not for a long while, I start to relax. As I start to let my body and mind relax, I feel a strange tingling sensation, and then I feel like I'm nonexistent.
"Doctor?" I call yet again. "Where are you? You have to be here somewhere!" I start to fly off into the distance searching for him, but as I start to give up hope, I see him right in front of me...
In my living room. The desert-like surroundings fade into blank walls, a TV, and a couch. I feel so exhausted that I just fall off the couch and attempt to stand up. My spine wouldn't let my stand up all the way, when I tried it felt like it was snapping in two. I look over onto my back, noticing that it is now covered in gray fur, and that my hands are now hooves. I look over to the mirror that's in the side of the room. In a mixture of brony excitement and sheer terror, I find three letters that explain what I am feeling right now.
