Chapter 1
Hal walked through the halls of the ship alone, not that he was alone; there were over 12,000 other people on the attack class battle station A.S. (Akkonian Ship Akk-o-ne-an) Havlinx. But he had just been refused transfer to the station’s 3rd fighter squadron. He was one of the best bomber pilots which is why he was on this mission, which was to rendezvous with the 107th star fleet and provided cover to them with its squadrons. To say the least he was not happy. Currently, Hal was in fact a F.A.C. (Fast Attack Craft) bomber pilot. His bomber was painted the slandered light gray with blood red highlights that he added himself. His bomber had a green tinted glass in his cockpit also it had the standard four missile racks and bomb bay but he had added the two Hellfire Mini Cannons on the front of his craft. Hal walked into the hanger and sulked over to his craft. Just then his best friend, technician and weapons operator Kig “Keg” Hopper, popped up next to him and asked, “So you got the transfer then?” Hal gave him a look that said ‘shut it‘than he walked toward his ship and sat heavily on a bench near it holding his face in his hands, “I just don’t understand why they won’t transfer me.” Keg walked up next to him and putting his hand on Hal’s shoulder and said, “Hay, listen, you and I both know that you got what it takes to be one of those fighter pilots. There just being stupid not transferring you. Alright? I’m sure you’ll get transferred eventually. And besides if ya got transferred you wouldn’t be able to hang out with me and all my awesomeness.” He finished gesturing to himself.
Hal looked up and gave a small smile, “Hey, thanks Keg.” Hal stood and looked at the bomber behind him, ”Hey Keg is my girl loaded?”
“She sure is. I never leave her unloaded. You know that.” He replied with a slightly exasperated expression.
“I know just making sure.” he gave a smirk and added, “Hey you wanna go on down to the Rec-room to get something to eat?” Keg expression lit up instantly and he ran over to a locker and grabbed his uniform jacket. “All right let’s go!”
Hal and Keg made their way down toward the rec-room and walked in. “Hey I heard there playing a movie later tonight.” Keg pumped his fist, “Yeah! It’s going to be so awesome!” he said with excitement. “Hey Hal, find us a table and I’ll go find us something to eat. Kay?”
“Yeah. All right.” Then they split up and Hal walked over to the nearest table sat down and looked around. Hal had been to the rec-room a hundred times but it never ceased to amaze him it had everything from gym equipment to virtual reality video game sets. The room itself was over 700 feet wide and 1,200 feet long and 50 feet tall.
When Keg returned he snapped Hal out of his musings and Keg set a plate in front of him. “So wacha thinkin’ about?” he asked with a fake accent.
“Nothing.” He replied flatly he then noticed his plate piled high with food, “You expect me to eat all this?!”
“Well if you need help I’ll help ya.” He said from his position hunched over a plate with twice as much food on it.
“How do you not explode, hmmmm?”
“Well it’s a technique I learned from an uncle of mine. You see when ya start to get full ya got to stand up and jump up and down and shake the food down to your legs.” He answered while demonstrating with a smile. In about 10 minutes they finished eating and started toward the theater to see exactly when the show would start. But as they neared the entrance an alarm sounded.
“All pilots to craft! All pilots to craft! We are under attack by the rebel fleet! All defense personal to stations imminently! Code Red!”
Hal and Keg rushed to their hanger with a few others in his group and when they arrived they quickly began to suit up. There suits were the normal grey-silver color with their group’s symbol on the left shoulder and a gold-yellow visor painted on. The suit also had armor on the front but not the back (the reason for this is they are not planning to get shot in the back while flying) also the suits were air tight. The helmet was one piece. The helmets have no holes to see threw but they have a camera on the forehead and the back of the head that send a picture to a screen on the inside.
When they finished they climbed into the bomber threw the cockpit and got to their positions. Hal called in and got permission to take off. Because their weapons were already loaded none of the bomber group would be ready to go yet but they took off any way. Once they had cleared the ship they saw what they were up against. There were 4 battleships 8 destroyers 5 cruisers and an assortment of fighters and bombers.
Hal quickly targeted a flight of fighters trying the strafe the station. “Keg I need you to let the starboard defense know that there are 5 fighters inbound!”
“Got it! …done! They know.”
“Good. Now target that cruiser dead ahead. And give me a report on what weapons we got.”
“Sir, if we go in there we’ll be dead!”
“Do it Please.” Hal growled
“Yes sir. Sir about the weapons we’ve got 47 missiles left, 20 energy bombs, 20 Fire bombs, and 9,000 rounds for each mini cannon.”
“Alright good.”
Hal angled his ship down than rolled to the right while leveling and straightening out aliening himself with the cruiser.
At that moment the station ordered“All ships fall back and defend the station at all costs!”
“You heard him sir let’s go!”
“Not yet Keg we’re almost in range!
Just then an enemy battleship rose up in front of their ship.
“Agh. Darn it!
He pulled up and to the right to fly parallel to the offending battleship.
“Keg arm those bombs! Were gonna blow these guys up!”
“Sir their armed, but we need to go defend the station!”
“Three second to drop! 3…..2……1……dropping!”
Hal pulled the leaver and all the energy bombs were released. A few seconds later they made contact with the battle ship’s hull and detonated.
“Yeah! Take that! Pretty good shot huh Keg?”
“Y-yeah. C-can we head on back to the station? Please?” Keg said from behind his chair.
“Okay, let’s go.”
But they never had a chance as an enemy fighter dropped down in front of them and fired its main laser cannons and launched all 8 of its port side missiles into the hull of his ship as he tried to pull away. In a moment his entire world lit up he heard an explosion and Keg’s Scream. The last thing she saw was the silhouette of her hoof against the bright light. Wait… Her hoof???!!!!!
Chapter 2
Weightless and dark. These were the first things Hal noticed felt when she came-to. (she does not know the she is female yet)
“Where am I?” she thought to herself. She looked around, it was pitch black and the oxygen level on her screen showed 67% remaining. She turned her head to the right and saw a gaping hole in her ship. Then she remembered the emergency flash light Keg had her keep in one of her compartments in the cockpit. Wait! Keg!
“Keg! Keg, where are you? Hello? Darn it! Is this stupid radio thing working?” she knocked her helmet a couple times and realized that she did not have fingers.
“GHAAAAA!! Why in the living heck don’t I have fingers!!?? Or hands for that matter? Why can I still be alive if my hands are missing?” she wandered for a moment.
Hal then tried to get her bearings. She was floating freely which meant that she was not in the cockpit. She then noticed an increase in light from the hole in the wall and saw a yellow sun and not too far away from that a beautiful blue and green jewel of a planet in the distance.
“Well that’s strange. Maybe even stranger than me not having any hands speaking of which…computer show health and bone structure.” A picture of a small horse with a horn and bat wings showed up on the screen along with a voice, “slight bruising in the lower back and neck area.”
“Huh. Okay I am going to panic now.” From outside the ship nothing heard anything. But on the inside of Hal’s Helmet…“AHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! I’M A FRIPIN’ HORSE A. FRIPIN’. HORSE. HOOOWW???!!!” After about two minutes…“Okay calm down your fine. You just have four legs and no arms and eat grass all day every day for the rest of your life! Witch won’t be that long might I add!” Hal changed from angry to depressed, “I’ll never get married or get that transfer to the fighter squadron or move off that rock of a planet to Gavron VI or get promoted, or anything. *sniff*” As the ship continued to rotate a light reflected onto Hal’s camera she turned and saw Keg. Or what was left of him. Most of his helmet was missing and it looked as if most of his suit had been hollowed out, there was blood splattered against the walls behind his equine body.
“Keg.” She whispered. Hal stretched a hoof out to Keg but she was too far away to reach him she choked back a sob but couldn’t stop the tears from leaking from her eyes. “Keg! Oh Keg why?! Why could I not have just turned around? Why?? It’s all my fault!!” Hal sobbed. For several hours she cried until she had no more tears to cry. She needed to get her mind off Keg and back on to her situation. So she began to look around for a way to get her magnetic boots back on the ships walls. Just then the entire ship jolted and started to glow a dark blue color then it started moving Hal hit a wall near Keg and was able to get a hold on it with the magnets and stood, she then made a quick decision and decided to eject Keg into the sun for a standard space burial.
She took a hold of him and dragged his body toward the hole in the hull. When she arrived she said a few words and pushed Keg off into the cold vacuum of space on a path towards the alien sun. With a final glance and farewell Hal turned to face the cockpit and sighed. She then made her way to the controls and surveyed them.
“Well darn, these won’t work again.” she thought thumping the mangled panels with her hoof. “Now what? My ship is glowing and flying through space toward an unknown planet…hold on that planet is getting really big.” She then noticed the increasing amount of space debris gathering around in the vicinity of her ship.
“What in the heck? Oh f=== my life! Ya know what? Who cares I’m going to go sit here in my chair and wait for the end.” Hal sat there for about ten minutes before getting up and looking out the green-tented cracked glass of the cockpit and watched as the first of the rocks in her formation began pelting the atmosphere of the dark side of the planet.
“Well this is going to be new.” She deadpanned as her ship began to collide with the atmosphere.
-Canterlot Castle 9:30 PM-
“This is going to be so exciting!” Twilight Sparkle though to herself. “Princess Luna is making an extra large meteor shower tonight. And she invited me personally to accompany her when she started it!” Twilight had a large smile on her face as she watched Princess Luna concentrate on pulling the space rocks down in to their planet’s atmosphere. “It must be so amazing to be able to cause a meteor shower any time you want to. You could do anything to anypony you wanted to.” Twilight mused.
“Twilight.” Twilight Sparkle quickly snapped out of her day dreams and looked at the princess, “W-what? Sorry Luna I was lost in thought. What did you say?”
“Oh, I was just saying that the show is starting.” Luna stated as she sat down next to Twilight and put a wing around her and pulled her closer, “It is rather cold tonight is it not?” she asked Twilight.
“Oh, Y-yes it is a little chilly tonight.” she said as she blushed and pushed a little closer to the princess. “It’s so amazing Luna! How do you do this?” Twilight asked as they continued to watch the shooting stars fall.
“It’s really nothing to special Twilight.” Luna replied blushing and scuffing her hoof on the ground. “But it is Luna! Nopony else can do this not even princess Celestia! That’s why I love the night so much.” Twilight stated to Luna. Just then a brighter larger meteor appeared in the night sky and began to get larger.
“Uh, Luna? Are you doing that? Twilight asked in a shaky voice.
“No Twilight Sparkle I am not.” They both watched for a moment before Luna grabbed Twilight with her magic and teleported to princess Celestia’s private chambers.
“SISTER! A METEOR IS HEADING THIS WAY AND I THINK IT MAY HIT CANTERLOT!” Luna said in the Royal Canterlot Voice. Celestia jumped so high she hit the ceiling. Then she saw Luna and Twilight Sparkle standing there looking at her. “Wut?” she asked groggily. Just then the tower they were in began to shake and tremble as the meteor went roaring right past the window knocking the balcony off the wall.
Celestia shot strait up and asked in an angry voice, “What is going on? What was that?” Luna answered, “It was a meteor it came slightly out of formation on its way into the Atmosphere.” Luna stated simply.
“Do you Know Where it will land?”
“No but we could find out Tia.”
“Fine. Luna take Twilight here and go find out what it is and where it landed. Okay? I’m going back to bed.” With that Celestia slid back underneath the covers and fell asleep.
“Well Twilight this will be a most interesting evening.” With that they headed off to calm the guards down and get a team ready to investigate the fallen ‘star’.
