"My vigil shall be long, tiring, and dangerous. My sword stands ready. My shield stands guard.

"Night is gathering, but I am prepared."

With these words, the Keepers of Light do stand against the necromancer, the zombie, the lich. They watch, they wait, they guard, and they keep the innocent safe.

Many stand atop the Wall. Minotaurs and griffons. Ponies and diamond dogs.

The Wall is where the chaff of society goes when it becomes inconvenient to keep them otherwise. Many have either committed or have been accused of committing crimes. There are bastard sons of nobles, there are rapists, thieves, frauds, dissidents, and prisoners alike here.

Yet they must stand guard against a foe that many deem to be a bedtime story because no one else will. No one else can.

After her coronation, Twilight and her friends must journey north to the Wall at Celestia's request because something sinister is gathering. Something dark. Something evil.

All that she knows is a warning: Night Gathers.
