Before the sun goes down
Prologue
Load Full StoryAn acute needle to one of my hooves wakes me from what seemed to be an eternal slumber. My muscles tense, I clench my teeth, trying not to scream out in agony, but as they withdraw the needle the pain ceases, muscles relax, and I drop back on my foamy bed. I hear murmurs in the background, mentioning my name, Lyra , at least I think that is what I'm called. I quietly chant my name as if speaking it out loud would cause me to loose it.
I pry open my eyes for the first time since- I can't remember, tears come to my eye as the light from a nearby lamp is too intense. I turn my head, away from the lamp to see that I'm in a concrete structure. Claw marks indent the walls nearby with what looks like marks of blood. Did I make these? No, I have hooves, even though I know this, I still tilt my head downwards to reassure myself. When my eyes adjust to the light, I slowly turn my head back to the lamp, revealing the rest of the room. Mainly it is empty, apart from the odd feather in the corner and the large mirror stained with hoof prints, and scratches.I see myself; Aqua body,Green Eyes. This all seems odd to me, I wriggle around to ensure that it was me in the mirror. Why does this all seem so very new to me? I have so many questions.
As I swing my hooves around to rest on the floor beside my bed a sudden pain hits me, unlike the needle, this pain is here to stay, my joints crackle and I scream out, collapsing on the floor directly in front of me. The last thing I hear is a door crashing against the side of a wall, after that I am sent into the eternal darkness.
