Nopony ever really knew where he came from nor did they really care. He was the stuff of legends, myths and lore. He was the one to tell at a campfire story time to scare little foals at night. However, he was the kind of thing that never made any sense if you tried to explain it. It was the kind of thing that was better left unanswered and not tampered with. He had no name... He had no cutie mark... He had no soul...
This is the tale of a pony whom nopony knew existed. Nopony knew his name because nopony cared for him. As depressed as he was already, he decided that the end has come to his life, in which, he made the ultimate decision of ending temporary problems with a permanent solution: suicide.
When everypony did find out what had happened, everypony was shocked; sad for his loss of life and for his parents as well. It was then that the ghost of the pony who killed himself knew that nopony had cared for him until after he was dead. He was appalled to find that he was now getting the respect he wanted after his death. Now, instead of resting peacefully, he cursed all of Ponyville with his presence. However, during his haunting, there was still one goal he had in mind, and that was to steal and cater to a cutie mark that he would call his own.

It was a fine morning in Ponyville and as usual, everypony had their usual business of doing their job or just living like usual. Scootaloo was on her scooter, racing down the streets of Ponyville and enjoying the fresh air that the wonderous town had to offer. The ghost of Nopony saw her heading towards the forest where Scootaloo had told her friends to meet her. It was the perfect time to strike. With a great gust of speed, he raced passed her.
She arrived in the forest and set her scooter down. She sat on a tree stump, waiting for her friends to catch up. "Oh... Where are they?" Scootaloo pouted impatiently, stomping her hoof on the floor.
Then, a voice whispered very eerily into her ear, "Hello there, love..."
Scootaloo jumped and looked around her, "W-W-Who's there?!"
"Won't you help me?" The voice echoed off of the trees, "I only need but a favor..."
She looked around the forest, hearing the voice everywhere behind trees, "What do you want?" Her heart was racing.
"Help me, child, or my voice will be the last thing you hear..."
Suddenly, a black mist appeared in front of Scootaloo. The mist quickly darted for her face, stopping a few centimeters out, "And so will my face." The mist started to swirl and take on the shape of a horrid face. The face was very breath taking and petrifying: hyper realistic eyes that had nothing but a red pupil in the middle, the bags under the eye's sockets and the smile... The smile was what started to make Scootaloo cry.
Sobbing softly, she whispered loud enough for the ghost to hear, "What do you want?"
"Why, sweetheart, why do you cry? I only ask for friendship and politeness." The mist placed a very cold hoof on her. The touch sent chills down her back. "I want nothing but a favor from thee."
"What?"
"Bring me something... Something that will please me to my very core!" The mist's voice was raspy and dark. The air around the forest seemed to have changed itself.
"What is it? How will I know you'll like it?" She sniffled.
"It's nothing big, sweetie... Bring me... a Cutie Mark. Any cutie mark you see."
Scootaloo's eyes grew big, "What?"
"Did I not speak loud enough for you? I want a Cutie Mark."
"H-How do I do that?"
"Simple: Take the life of one of your dearest friends, cut off the leg and bring it to me."
"What?!"
"You heard me, dear. KILL SOMEPONY!" The voice was demonic and the ghost's rage started to grow.
Scootaloo began to cry uncontrollably, "No, I won't!"
"Really, now? Then suffer the consequences!"
Scootaloo's scream was heard off in the distance by one of her arriving friends, Applebloom. Quickly, she boosted herself on her scooter to the direction of the scream. When she came upon the clearing, where she heard the scream, she saw the scooter of Scootaloo along with a trail of blood that led nowhere.
"By Celestia!" She shouted.
She looked to her right to find Scootaloo's body next to a tree stump where she had sat down waiting for her friends. She wasn't breathing and she wasn't moving; she was dead. A sudden rustling behind Apple Bloom made her turn around, "Who's there?"
She turned back to her friend and she was gone, nothing but an imprint of her friend's body in the grass. Then, from behind her, came a very cracked voice, "Hello, Apple, I'm glad you could come...!"
Apple Bloom turned around to see her friend standing there. Her face was very pale and her head was cracked open like somebody had taken a rock and smashed it into her head and her eyes were nothing but portals to the void itself. Applebloom felt chills that shook her bones to the very core as she stared into Scootaloo's heartless body.
"S-S-Scoot?"
"It's okay, Apple, I won't hurt you." Scootaloo began to limp slowly towards Applebloom. "I just want to give you a hug... friend." Friend had made Applebloom's skin jump as the word sent chills down her mane.
A voice came from behind her, "And so do I!"
Suddenly, a black mist came around from behind Applebloom and pushed her forcefully against the tree behind her. She was stuck, immobile, frozen in place by this black smoke that encircled her. Applebloom struggled, trying to break free from the grasp of this smoke that surrounded her. The smoke went next to her ear, "Don't struggle, honey, it'll all be over soon."
Sweetie Belle was entering the forest when Applebloom's scream startled her. She quickly dashed through the many trees to the source of the scream. When she came upon the small clearing where Scootaloo was originally waiting, there was blood that stained the trees. Her mouth was open with horror and terror. On the trees, there were different letters. Sweetie Belle walked slowly passed each tree as she worded each letter aloud, "W-A-N-T. N-E-E-D." She didn't know what it meant, what did 'want' and 'need' represent? She turned around to find the terrifying face of Nopony in front of her. "Hello, dear." He smiled and hit her, knocking her unconcious.

All 3 of them woke up in a hospital, bandages covering their heads and around their bodies. They didn't know what happened, they couldn't even remember what happened, either.
"Oh... Are y'all okay?" Applebloom asked, sitting up in pain.
The others hopped out of bed, struggling to stand up, "We're okay..." Sweetie Belle replied, almost falling over.
There was nopony around, not a nurse, not a doctor; not even an aid. They all limped around the small room, confused and still trying to remember what happened. But all 3 of them had some sort of injury on their heads and scratch marks that tainted their hind legs. They decided to go out into the hallway to see if they can find somepony. As they opened the door, they were greeted by a bloody trail. A look of shock hit them and a wave of fear flowed over the 3 fillies. They were scared to go out, but they were also curious to see where the trail lead.
They followed the trail right, the blood trail getting thicker. They came to a corner and heard a silent laughing. The laughing sounded kind of insane, but almost excited and giddy. They turned a corner to find a black pony sitting behind a pile of dead ponies, who had their Cutie Marks crudely cut off, with his horn glowing a dark blue. All 3 of the fillies gasped.
The black pony turned around to find his assimilated minions awake at last. His broken horn flared a bright blue and his eyes grew bigger, pupils getting smaller. A smile dragged itself across his face.
"Does anypony have a Cutie Mark to spare?"

A mediocre attempt at making something kind of dark with MLP o.o
Also: if anything seems off (canon-wise), forgive me. I haven't seen much of the show to know what's actually going on :P
