//-------------------------------------------------------// Scootaloo's Cutie Mark -by IamtheBoat- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// This is the only Chapter //-------------------------------------------------------// This is the only Chapter Once upon a time, there was a little pegasus. Her name was Scootaloo. Scootaloo was an athletic pegasus, who looked up to the fastest pegasus in Equestria, Rainbow Dash. And, so the little pegasus, Scoots, trained hard every day, to become fast enough to outrace Rainbow Dash, just so she'd look her way and speak her approval. But, try as she might, her wings wouldn't carry her body more than a few feet. Scootaloo was quite upset. Rainbow Dash was doing her rounds, clearing the sky for Ponyville, when she noticed that Scootaloo wasn't training like she usually was. "What's wrong, Scoots?" asked Dash, as she descended to the ground. "I...I don't wanna talk about it, Rainbow. Not to you." replied Scootaloo, turning away from Rainbow Dash. "Come on, Scootaloo. You know me, I can keep a secret. Is it Diamond Tiara at school? Is she picking on you for having a blank flank again?" inquired Rainbow, mimicking fighting, as though to imply she'd beat up Diamond Tiara. "No...just leave me alone, Dash." sighed Scootaloo dejectedly. Rainbow Dash was confused. Typically, she couldn't stop Scootaloo from talking to her. Then, her confusion turned to annoyance. "You should tell me, Scoots. I can help." "You can't help me with this, 'Bow. I gotta handle this myself." Scootaloo defied. At this, she tried to fly away in a huff, but plummeted back to earth when her wings couldn't fulfill their task. Then, it dawned on Rainbow Dash. She knew what she had to do to raise Scootaloo's spirit. But, how? Rainbow Dash zoomed off, away from Scootaloo, towards Twilight Sparkle's house. As per usual, she didn't use the door into her house. She dived through an open window, nearly tackling Twilight Sparkle, and taking out Spike into a pile of spellbooks, casting up an unnatural amount of dust. "Rainbow Dash*cough* I thought I asked you to *cough cough* use the door!" coughed Twilight Sparkle "Sorry, Twilight, but this is an emergency! I need to make Scootaloo fly! Can you help me?" pleaded Rainbow.... The dust settled, and Spike began to clean up the books, mumbling under his breath about how he has to do all the work. "A flying spell, huh? I think that could be arranged..." declared Twilight, a new sense of resolve to her being. Her horn began to glow a beautiful purplish color, when the book Spike was carrying up to the shelves levitated out of his hand, and before Twilight. Again, Spike mumbled about not getting respect. "Flying...flying...flying...Hm...Well, I could cast the spell on Scootaloo that I cast on Rarity to give her those beautiful wings, but I don't think Scootaloo is old enough, and mature enough, not to wear out those wings before day's end...But...I can cast a spell over her to make her wings more effective." Twilight thought aloud. "That's great! That's exactly what I was thinking! Let's do it!" Rainbow Dash flew for the window, but felt Twilight's telekinetic field envelope her, and hold her in the library. "Rainbow Dash, it says here that the spell must be cast at night for it to be most effective. So, I propose we have Scootaloo have a sleepover, here, at my house. You'll have to come too, so that way she wants to be here. Then, we can cast it then." "Twilight...you're squeezing me...kinda tight..." Dash complained, Twilight Sparkle released her grip. "And...that sounds...like a good idea...Twi..." Rainbow panted, catching her breath. "I'll go...get her...now" Rainbow Dash once again bolted for the window, her wake casting up a whirlwind strong enough to bring the books toppling over once again. Unbeknownst to Rainbow Dash, Spike let out a breath of fire in a fit of rage. Rainbow spotted Scootaloo just a short distance away from where she left her. "Hey, Scoots. Wanna come to a sleepover with me over Twilight's place?" Rainbow Dash asked. The gloomy look on Scootaloo's face was immediately shattered, and replaced with one that was abound with happiness. "Boy, would I!" she exclaimed. Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo walked back to Twilight Sparkle's house. For seemingly the first time in recent memory, Rainbow Dash knocked on Twilight Sparkle's door. The door glowed that magnificent purple, and swung open to reveal Twilight Sparkle and Spike cleaning up the house. "Hi, girls!" chirped Twilight, magically carrying stacks of books to their rightful place. "I'll just be a moment." Rainbow Dash walked further into Twilight's home, kicking the door closed. Scootaloo, depression forgotten, bounced alongside her, trying to get a look at Dash's face. "You'll have to forgive me, someone...unexpectedly dropped in, and made a mess for me and Spike to clean up." Twilight Sparkle taunted Rainbow Dash. Spike once again mumbled about doing all the work around here, then moped upstairs to his bed, for reasons being that he was tired, or just done being up for the day. Rainbow Dash chuckled and said "Well... I was kinda in a hurry." Scootaloo squealed at the sound of her hero's laughter, taken aback by the sound of it. Twilight Sparkle's magic levitated a book off of the shelf, and placed it in front of her. The title read "Everything You Wanted To Know About Sleepovers, But Were Afraid To Ask" "Okay, let's see here...well...the first thing it says we should do is...well...you know, the last time I went by the book, the sleepover didn't go over so well." She tossed the book behind her, then magicked it back into place. "So, let's just...wing it." she joked. She isolated Rainbow Dash "When would a good time to do this be?" she asked. "Well, Scootaloo doesn't know that she's here to get her wings improved, so it has to be after bedtime." replied Rainbow. The fun that they had lasted for hours, and, while they didn't stray far from the beaten path of pillow fights, ghost stories, and truth or dare, they did also branch off into more strenuous activities, like planting trees and other such things. As Twilight read a bedtime story for Scootaloo, namely "The Manticore, the Great and Powerful Trixie, and the Shed." (written by Trixie of course) she was prodded by a sleepy Rainbow Dash to look over at the sleeping Scootaloo coiled around Rainbow Dash's tummy. How Scoots got there without anyone noticing, the world will never know. "I think it's time" whispered Rainbow Dash, as the otherwise silent room is filled with the soft breathing of Scootaloo's sleep. "Okay, let's do it." Twilight whispered. Her horn glowed once again, magicking the book to its spot on the shelf, and gently cradling Scootaloo. A glowing book glided over to Twilight, and opened itself between her and the now suspended Scootaloo. The spell did not take long to cast, but it did exhaust Twilight Sparkle enough that Rainbow Dash had to catch Scootaloo before she fell. Luckily, she was still encased in Twilight's magical envelope, so she did not feel the jostling of being caught. It was at that point in time, that everyone in the room was asleep. Twilight passed out on her bed, Rainbow Dash asleep on the floor, cradling a gently snoring Scootaloo in her arms. The next day, Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash were awoken by the sound of a great many crashing objects. Alarmed, they searched for the cause. It was Scootaloo, flying around the house, causing a great enough disturbance in the airflow to make a book tornado and shouting joyfully. Rainbow Dash looked at Twilight tiredly, whispering "You did it. It worked. So. AWESOME." Twilight's horn once again glowed, and the cacophony died down as Scootaloo glided over to them. Emblazoned on her flank was her cutie mark, a Greek style lightning cloud, with a purple lightning bolt shooting from it. "It happened! It finally happened! I can fly!" Exclaimed Scootaloo, wings still flapping, legs still kicking, to no avail. Her grin was ear to ear. And on that day, Scootaloo earned both her ability to fly, and her Cutie Mark. The End. //-------------------------------------------------------// Except for this one. //-------------------------------------------------------// Except for this one. Epilogue Rainbow Dash was flying through the sky, practicing her Buccaneer Blitz move, when suddenly, a small orange blur whizzed by her, throwing her off track. Immediately proceeding this, there was the boom of the sound barrier being broken, and a rainbow appeared in a line. Dash smiled, thinking to herself how now she has a rival. Then, another, louder boom sounded, and the rainbow trail became doubled. Dash rubbed her eyes, and looked on in astonishment. She looked on as the small orange blur she knew to be Scootaloo left in her wake dual rainbows. Then, Scootaloo stopped midflight, attempting to push through another layer of the sound barrier, but physics wouldn't allow it. Scootaloo fainted, and began to fall. Rainbow Dash, knowing she had to move, pulled her own Sonic Rainboom to get over to Scootaloo in time to save her. Moments later, after both pegasi touched ground, Scootaloo awoke from her sleep, and looked into the sky to see her rainbow still remained, and how Rainbow Dash's rainbow began to fade... Scoots sleepily remarked "It's so bright, Rainbow. It's so...vivid. Look at the double rainbow. With yours there, it's starting to even look like a triple rainbow. But yours is fading. What does it mean?" Rainbow Dash said, "It means the student has become the master." The true end.
