Beating The Heat```Part One
The Elements of Harmony, otherwise known as the Mane Six, were laughing around a table at a small outdoor cafe. Otherwise than that, it was silent.
"So, Soarin and Spitfire walk into a bar, literally!" Rainbow Dash laughed, following by the others.
None of them found it funny, they were just overly giggly with their best friends, like most other mares around the town. As they fought over who would pay the bill, they broke out in laughter again.
"Get out the die, Twilight!" Applejack laughed again.
Twilight concentrated, and a small dice appeared, each with every pony's initials located on one side of the die. The pony rolled it, and it turned silent for a second.
"Come on, Baby!" Rainbow Dash growled, happily.
"Watch it be me, I've had to pay the last three times!" Rarity laughed. As the dice landed on it side, it was trying to decide which side to land on.
"PINKIE PIE!" Twilight announced.
"Aw, what the hay? Oh well. It broke my lucky streak."
"Alright, baby! It wasn't the Dash-master!" The Wonderbolt trainee burst into the air, brought to ground by a glare from Applejack and Fluttershy. The cyan pony shifted in her seat.
"What's the bill?" Twilight asked.
"Ten bits."
"Dang, Pinkie, fish it up!" Rainbow received another glare.
The silence was awkward as a purple dragon ran up to the group.
"TWILIGHT!" Spike ran up to the pony, out of breath. "Princess Celestia... Has... Sent... A.... Message...."
The purple unicorn levitated the scroll out, and read it.
Dear Twilight Sparkle,
The time has arrived for Luna's birthday. Instead of the usual, small gathering in Canterlot, I would like you and your friends to host it in your town, Ponyville.
I would like it to be a night party, because Luna would approve. I want it to be big, for she is turning 3 years from being Nightmare Moon. Three is my lucky number. I send this luck to you, Twilight. This task won't be easy, and I hope you can get it on her birthday, which is in 3 days.
Rainbow Dash, I want you to fly with or without the Wonderbolts, your choice. I would also like you to make Moonbows, the difficult rainbow of the night. I'm sure you can do it.
Pinkie Pie, I want you to plan the activities. I also want you to bake the desserts with Applejack.
Fluttershy, I want you to take the responsibility of making sure the unfriendly animals stay away. I also want you to collect the presents, and set up the decorations.
Rarity, I want you to design the fashions, and a new Luna collection. My sister could use a few new dresses. Make enough to sell in the Canterlot Corner Boutique, Luna's favorite store.
Applejack, I want you to make the food for the party, and the desserts with Pinkie Pie. I also want you to hold the party at your farm; please make sure all the trees are bucked, and it smells like apples.
Twilight Sparkle, I want you to oversee this all, and I want you to write a speech to perform there. I also want you to invite everybody, and help Fluttershy with the decorations. Also make sure Applejack doesn't go crazy with the apples.
I am dearly sorry for the short message, a court meeting is coming up quickly.

Twilight read the message out loud.
Pinkie grinned, and bounced around.
"What does she mean, Ah go crazy with the apples?" Applejack pouted.
"Cheer up, Jackie. I got the hardest." Rainbow laughed.
"No, I think Twilight got the hardest. You can't stop Applejack." Pinkie Pie grinned, and they all laughed.
"Unfriendly animals? Is that possible?" Fluttershy muttered.
"Discord. And that dragon you set straight." Twilight pointed out.
"But those were rare circumstances." Fluttershy whispered.
"Another fashion line? For Luna? Ooh, this will be good." Rarity squealed.
"I... Um, gotta get back to the library. Bye Rarity." The small purple dragon ran away. He couldn't take anymore girly chatting.
"Three days!" Twilight jumped. "We have to get prepared."
"We can make the desserts, right, 'Jackie'?" Pinkie Pie giggled, using Rainbow Dash's nickname that Applejack unfortunately recieved.
"You betcha we can." Applejack growled with determination.
"Big Mac and Applejack went up the hill to fetch a pail of water, Big Mac fell down and broke his crown, and Applejack tumbled after!" Fluttershy said, quietly, getting giggle fits from all the ponies, even Applejack.
"Rainbow. You must tell the Wonderbolts."
"Got it, Chief Spitfire."
"I'm Twilight."
"Rarity, start on the fashions right away." Twilight ordered, receiving a nod from the fashionista.
"Fluttershy, can you come over to the library? Let's discuss the decorations."
Fluttershy nodded with a small squeak.

As the ponies gathered the next day to report their progress, Rainbow Dash moaned.
"Twilight, do we have to work today? It would be nice for a dip in the Cloudsville Community Center pool."
"Even the Ponyville Pool would be nice." Applejack agreed. The Ponyville Pool was ALWAYS crowded with crying foals and worried mothers, and it would sure be packed on the hot summer-like day.
Spring had received a huge heatwave, and everypony was blaming the Pegasi, especially Rainbow Dash, for clearing the skies. The crystal blue skies had burned heat into everypony's pelt. All of the ponies were laggy today, even the energetic Pinkie Pie.
"It's too hot for baking, I'll burn Sugarcube Corner down!"
"We have to work." Twilight's voice was firm.
"Sugarcube, Ah can't bake. Ah'll burn the farm down!" Applejack fretted.
"The air conditioning broke in the Carousel Boutique!" Rarity complained. "The humidity makes my mane poof!"
"Twilight, I think you're library is the only place in Ponyville that's air conditioned." Fluttershy admitted, quietly.
"What?!" Twilight moaned. "This is not good. Celestia is counting on us, and we have to days left." The pony seemed to be angry at herself. "We have to see Celestia."
"No, we can't. Travel can't work in the heat." Pinkie Pie pointed out.
"Then we'll have to walk."
"To Canterlot. In this weather." Rarity's jaw dropped.
"Why doesn't Spike just send a message to Celestia?" Rainbow Dash said, loudly.
"Let's go to the library, then." Twilight shrugged, as the purple pony took the lead, trotting back to the housing of her and Spike.

"Thanks Spike." Twilight grinned at her number one assistant.
Spike nodded, relieved to be back in the building during the heat wave.
"Okay, mares! Looks like we're stuck here for the day." Twilight seemed slightly unhappy, but the others had stopped sweating.
"Jackie and I can cook!" Pinkie Pie grinned.
"I can help with something." Rainbow Dash shrugged, and Twilight tossed her a large book.
"History on Moonbows."
"Who the hay wrote this?"
"Read the cover."
Rarity sighed. "I need to go back to the Carousel Boutique for the fashions."
"I can get them." Rainbow Dash grinned. "I wanna fly."
Before Rarity could reply, Rainbow Dash burst out the door, and every few minutes, she came back with items. Eventually, she stopped, out of breath.
The Party would be perfect.
