Chapters Finding the Griffon's Goblet
"The Griffon's Goblet huh seems legit" said Feather Heart pulling down a blue covered "Daring Do Series" book from a shelf. The white coated, Pegasus mare walked over and sat at a table inside of her school's library not knowing the dangerous adventure she is about to create
"I've got to show them this" screamed Feather Heart, running out of the library's doors. Quickly dodging other school ponies walking down the hallway she galloped to meet her friends at lunch time. Her purple and blue mane flew into her vision as she ran, making her crash into others.
"Hey watch where you're going"
"I'm sorry" Feather Heart called behind her while bolting down the stairs to the cafeteria and running over to the circular wooden table, pulled out a chair and quickly sat down with her three other friends.
"Jeez Feather Heart, calm down much" chuckled Forte Melody at her own joke.
"Look look" said Feather slamming the Daring Do book loudly onto the table.
"Um, it's a book" said Acoustic, a light green Pegasus with pink hair.
"Duh, I can see that, but look closer"
The three other ponies leaned in closer to the book, their noses almost touching it.
"Feather, it's just a normal book I don't see anything unusual about it"
The white Pegasus face hoofed herself, "Don't you see, it's the Griffon's Goblet"
"Yeah but I-"
"It says here that, the Griffon's Goblet was the cup that the great King Beak drank out of when he ruled the Griffons, it was made out of gold and lined with multi-colored diamonds, it says a magic unicorn was once saved by the king and granted him a gift by giving him the goblet, it also says whoever drinks out of it gets good fortune and luck"
"I still don't see what this has to do with us" said Forte blowing her messy, navy blue hair out of her face.
"Don't you get it, we could be the ones who find it, we could be heroes while getting our good fortune, look I did some research and planned out what we could do" Feather opened the book and there was a piece of paper folded into a square. The Pegasus unfolded the paper and began to tell her friends her idea.
"See we start here, where we live,and we sneak to the airport an-"
"Hold a second now, sneak out, are you sure about that, my parents will kill me if they caught me" worried Forte
"Don't worry about it, see after we go to the airport we go to the mountains and we go and climb it and we go find the ruins of King Beak's castle and we get that goblet and bam we get back home in four days leaving us five more days of Spring Break"
"Yeah I agree with that, seems like a pretty fun adventure, I mean I have nothing else to do anyways" said Acoustic
"Even if that seems like a pretty good plan, the whole Griffon's Goblet thing is just a old mare's tale" piped up Plus, a red unicorn with a braided brown mane.
"I have to agree with Plus this time, what if it is just a mare's tale and we went there for no reason whatsoever, don't you think we're rushing this a bit?" said Forte
"Well it doesn't matter now, who's up for adventure or what, put your hooves in the middle if you are"
Instantly Feather and Acoustic's hands went into the middle of the table, Plus and Forte looked at each other. Forte eventually shrugged her shoulders and put her light blue hoof in the middle. There was a sigh from the red unicorn and eventually she put her hoof in the middle.
"Okay tonight is the time we move out, is everyone ready, remember we meet at the Detrot airport, 'Kay" worried Feather, tapping her hooves on the lunch table.
"Calm down Feather, we got this 'Kay. Why are you so worried you planned this after all"
"I know and I'm sorry Acoustic, it's just I've never done this before and I'm worried, it sounded better when I was planning this in my head but I'll be fine. Did you guys pack every thing you need?"
"Yes" chimed the three other ponies, together.
"Alright, remember Detrot airport 11:00 p.m., bring fifty bits with you"
The white Pegasus flew through the cool night sky and finally reached the Detrot airport. Waiting at the gate, she already bought her ticket and gone through security. Quickly sitting down on a empty chair, she fumbled with her saddle bag for awhile, worried that the others may not show up. Soon Acoustic ran over, easing Feather's worried mind.
"Are the rest here yet?" Asked the green Pegasus.
"No not yet"
Acoustic nodded her head and sat down next to Feather.
Soon Plus came walking over. Her face was filled with regret and sadness. Feather decided to let her be alone for a while. An hour passed and still no sign of Forte.
"Where is that blue unicorn" worried Feather.
"Don't worry, she'll get her, probably just getting food, am I right" chuckled Acoustic nervously.
But all three ponies knew inside of them that something has happened.
"Now boarding to Griffon Village"
It has been half an hour and still no signs of Forte.
"Well what are we going to do Feather"
"We bought the tickets already Acoustic, I guess we just have to leave without her"
"Let's just board last just in case she comes late"
The three ponies sat there waiting for another 20 minutes. "Last call for boarding to Griffon Village".
"I guess we have to go now, there's no choice" said Plus.
The three friends handed there tickets to the flight attendant and found their seats. Disappointed and grim faced they ignored the safety instructions lecture that they've heard so many times before. Suddenly the voice of a familiar unicorn popped up.
"I'M HERE, I'M HERE (wheeze), DON'T WORRY EVERYPONY"
The three ponies looked over theirs seats seeing their other friends they have been desperately waiting for soaking wet with mud all over her hooves even her saddle bag was dripping water. She slowly started walking over to them, every pony staring at her as she did.
"What happened to you Forte" asked Plus
"Have you ever ran through sprinklers while being chased by five huge dogs"
"Uh no"
"Good don't do it"
The flight attendant just rolled her eyes and went back to her safety procedures while the four friends discussed about their trips, not knowing the obstacles that they may face.
Finding the Griffon's Goblet
They have arrived. After hours on the plane, the group of four ponies ventured out into the mountainous region. On their way to the first mountain they saw bunnies, birds and the occasional wolf. They often stopped to rest or munch on the wild grass that grew in the cold, mountainous climate.
"Ugh! When are we going to get there?" Feather Heart asked while flying lazily above them.
"Look the first mountain is right there!" Forte Melody pointed her hoof to a small mountain about a mile away.
"Cool" Feather said and she joined the other three ponies on the ground.
At the foot of the mountain, the four ponies stood gawking at its size, even though it was the smallest in the area. Acoustic and Feather Heart found a trail that led over the mountain. They started up the winding trail that zigzagged and curved. Every hoof had to be placed carefully so that it wouldn't slip , and even the two Pegasus were having trouble flying with the little oxygen the high, mountain are had.
"Hey look a cave!" Plus motioned her head towards a small crevice in the side of the trail.
"Maybe we could rest." Acoustic said while poking her head inside.
The ponies crammed into the dark hole. Forte Melody used her horn to summon a faint yellow glow and they all wandered through the cave. Something red and shining caught Acoustic's eyes and she pulled Forte over so her glowing horn could reveal its identity. Looking closer, she saw individual little crisscrossed patterns that looked familiar on its surface.
Forte screamed and ran from the cave. Bewildered, Acoustic looked back at the object she had been observing and realized she had been looking at a dragon. It was sleeping in the dark corner of the cave and its shining red scales glowed when Forte's light shinned on it. The crisscrossed patter on its surface was actually its scales.
"Run! Run! Dragon!" Acoustic reared up and yelled through the cave. The dragon's eyes flew open and glowed yellow. It snarled and flared its nostrils. Smoke climbed from its nose and a rumbling growl echoed in the cave. The three ponies left in the cave and ran screaming and shrieking from the dragon and ran out of the cave.
They met Forte outside and scrambled down the trail. The Dragon flew over them and landed in front of them and cornered the ponies between the side of the mountain. It herded them closer and closer into the wall and the ponies couldn't do a thing. It was a small dragon about the size of a large stallion but it looked strong enough to take on all of them.
"HELP!" They all screamed.
When all hope was lost the ponies heard a faint sound. It was the familiar sound of a pony's hooves hitting the ground. Suddenly, a green flash landed on top of the dragon and pinned it down. A second flash landed nearby the ponies and revealed itself a red Pegasus. The green flash was also a Pegasus and he wrestled the angry dragon.
"Come on!" The red Pegasus yelled to them and led them away from the dragon and Pegasus .
"What's going on!" Plus shrieked
"We have to get outta here!" He motioned his wings toward another cave farther up the trail.
"Wait! I don't wanna go back into a cave!" Plus froze outside the entrance and tensed up.
"We have too!" Feather Heart pushed her into the cave.
"Is everypony inside?" He asked . Feather Heart nodded once she got Plus into the cave.
"Now everypony, don't make a sound!" He whispered to them. Feather Heart covered her face into her wings and curled into a ball, almost trying to be invisible to an enemy Forte bit her lip so she wouldn't cry in fear. Plus placed her hooves over her eyes and collapsed to the ground. Even Acoustic wrapped her wings around her body to stop herself from shaking.
They huddled close together and waited. It got so quiet in the cave that sweat beaded the top of Forte's head because of the piercing silence. A loud sound cut through the quietness and sent the ponies into a mute panic. A shadow passed along the ground outside the cave and sent them over the edge.
"Hello? Are you guys okay?" The green Pegasus pony limped into the cave and sat down. Huge sighs of relief escaped the ponies mouths as they realized it was only the green Pegasus.
"What are you guys doing up here on such a dangerous mountain?" He asked.
"We're not telling you. We can get across this mountain alone and we can handle ourselves." Acoustic said while crossing her hooves.
"Fine. Don't tell us, but if you're looking to get across the mountain on this trail then you're going the wrong way. There's a better trail not far from this cave. We can show you."
"Ugh! Fine just don't think we can't handle ourselves out here." Acoustic sneered.
They headed out of the cave and towards the other trail. Forte fell alongside the red Pegasus pony.
"Don't mind Acoustic, she just doesn't want others to think we're soft. Oh, and thanks for helping us." She said nudging his flank. They walked side by side along the trail.
"Are you okay? You fought bravely against that dragon. How did you do it?" Feather Heart walked with the green Pegasus pony.
"Oh, you know, my hooves, it was just a young dragon anyways, all he needed was someone to show him who's boss." He laughed to himself and Feather joined along.
The six ponies walked down the mountain till there hooves were aching. Finally, they made it over the mountain and the next mountain, bigger than the last, loomed over their head.
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go!"
Finding the Griffon's Goblet
The group of friends continued their journey, following the two new comers on the slippery path of the first mountain..
"So what are four random mares doing on Mount Talon" asked the red colt, flipping his dark blue, curly mane out of his face. He was obviously trying to start a conversation.
"We're trying to find the Griffon's Goblet, now stay out of our business" spat Acoustic, "Now a better question is what are two colts doing in the mountains in GRIFFON Village"
"Well, what's the technical term for it, Sherpa is it. Well Rings and I here are Sherpas, living in the mountains with our two parents"
"Why did you guys save us" asked Forte.
"Well you girls were screaming like bloody murder in that cave. That's not good for tourist business if they heard four mares running out of a cave like chickens you are"
The red colt started laughing, snorting like a hog. The one called Rings quickly nudged him and glared making the other colt stop.
"WHO ARE YOU CALLING CHICKEN" growled Acoustic. She began flying towards the red colt, instantly being stopped by the grasp of Plus's mouth on her tail.
"Hey let go, let me at him" struggled the green Pegasus.
Plus kept pulling Acoustic away from the red colt. Suddenly Acoustic yanked her tail out of the red unicorn's mouth which sent the two mares over the side of the trail. Acoustic breezily flew back onto the ledge, but for Plus she was clinging onto the sides for dear life, her hind legs scrabbling against the side of the mountain.
Quick like a flash, the red Pegasus grabbed hold of Plus's scruff of the neck, lifting her back to safety.
"You mares need more help than I thought" smirked the colt.
"Blitz, we should maybe stop mocking them, the green one is getting angry" said Rings, shying away.
"Eh I guess you're right it was getting old anyways" said Blitz, "Hey how about an apology, Rings and I will get you guys all the way over the third mountain"
The red colt began to smile like he just came up with the best plan in the world.
"Deal" said the four ponies, all except Acoustic.
"What's the catch?"
"Oh no catch, no catch at all"
The ponies began to keep walking on the dangerous trail.
"But Blitz we've only crossed to the second mountain, you know that no griffon or pony, or even dragon have survived on such a dangerous mountain as the third one" whispered Rings into his brother's right ear.
"I know but there's no point in stopping now"
The six ponies have finally reached the second mountain.
"Mount Beak, we can stop at our place before we head off, it's just right there" pointed Rings.
There sitting at the bottom of the second mountain was a small shack made of hay and stone. The two colts led the way into their home.
"MOM, WE'RE HOME AND WE HAVE GUESTS" screamed Blitz.
"I'll be right out I'm in the kitchen, your dad and your uncle is on another trail leading"
Even though the shack looked small on the outside, the inside looked like any regular home. There was a fire lit in the fire pit. There was a small couch in front of it. The only light sources were the window and the fire.
"Oh why hello who are these four beautiful ladies" said a pink unicorn with curly red hair; she wore an apron and was holding a tray of cookies.
"Their names are, uh....well...I have no clue" said Blitz.
Suddenly the mom put down the tray of cookies in from of the fireplace and smacked the red colt behind his head with her hoof.
"Bringing in such nice guests and not knowing their names, shame on you. I thought I taught you two better"
"Ow jeez I'm sorry"
"No ma'am it's our faults we never told them, I'm Forte and the white one is Feather, the green one is Acoustic and the red unicorn is Plus"
"Very beautiful names, now go up and sit by the fire and eat as many cookies as you want"
The four girls thanked the nice mare and ran towards the plate of warm delicious treats, remebering that that was there lunch for the day. They began talking and giggling not noticing the two colts sneaking up the stairs of the house.
The two brothers took out there saddle bags from there closet and began to pack matches, oxygen masks, bits, rope and blankets. When they went back down the stairs they saw the four friends full from the treats they just ate.
The four mares were waiting by the beginning of the path. The brothers have told them to wait there and they were going to bring harnesses (claiming that it will make the climb faster). They finally came back with twigs and sticks in there hooves.
"Um what is that, you said you guys were coming back with harnesses not fire wood" said Plus.
"Yeah not now they aren't but you two unicorns are going use you magic to turn them into harnesses, or can you not do that" said Blitz.
"Of course they can, Forte show them" bragged Acoustic.
"Well my magic is more for music I-"
"Come on Forte, your parents are great at magic, you must have it in your blood just try it please"
"Only for you Acoustic" said Forte monotone.
The blue unicorn shut her eyes tightly and began to cast the spell. She held her breath and her horn began to shoot off a yellow glow. Suddenly the twigs and sticks began to levitate and soon s bright light flashed and there on the snowy floor were six harnesses.
"YEAH FORTE" scream Acoustic who began to grab one of the harnesses and started putting it on.
The other ponies followed, tightening the straps. Rings and Blitz took the rope from there packs and began tying the six ponies together.
Soon there climb began, the Pegasus began to fly upwards easily. While Plus and Forte quickly climbed to catch up.
The six ponies were more than half way up the mountain. The oxygen level began to drop, as the six friends began to put on their oxygen masks. The Pegasus' wings were glued shut from the cold.
"Ugh, when is this going to end" grumbled Plus, "We've been climbing all day"
Suddenly the harnesses began to glow.
"Uh Forte what's happening" asked Rings.
"I don't know but I think the spell is wearing off!"
The harnesses began turning back to sticks leaving the six ponies stuck on the mountains, clinging to the edge for dear life.
"You guys I'm beginning to feel-" the look on the red unicorn's eyes as she said that looked sick and worried.
Plus let go of the edge
"Plus!" screamed Acoustic letting go to dive bomb after her friends, realizing soon that her wings were useless.
"What happened to Plus" screamed Feather.
"She didn't have enough oxygen, she fainted I guess" said Rings.
The four remaining ponies held on to the sides worried on what was going to happen, they were too height to jump (obviously) and too scared to keep climbing.
"Forte I-"
The white Pegasus let go too.
"No Feather" the blue unicorn already lost her three friends, she was still with the two Sherpas but they weren't like any of her friends.
"Don't worry it's alright I promise I will get you down" said Blitz
Suddenly Rings began to shut his eyes and slip off the edge.
"NO my brother"
Forte began to look up at the remaining pony with sad eyes,"I'm sorry Blitz but I'm going to do it"
"Don't you dare think about it"
Forte let go
