"Rainbow Dash!" yelled Scootaloo. "Yeah, kid?" Rainbow answered. "Are you signing up?" "Maybe," Rainbow answered seriously. "Cool!" Scootaloo said excitedly. "Look, Scoots, I'd love to stay and chat, but..." she held out the poster. "Okay, I've got to go back inside, anyway," Scootaloo said. Right on time, Cheerilee called to Scootaloo. "Scootaloo? Are you coming in or not?" "Sorry, Miss Cheerilee! Bye Rainbow Dash!" "Bye Scootaloo!" Rainbow yelled as she flew off. You may be wondering something. As in, what the poster says. I'm here to tell you. Here it is: It's the Equestria games! Anypony can sign up. (No experience required.) It costs 30 bits for one pony to compete. You will get a trainer for your team if you sign up. There will be earth pony, Pegasus, unicorn, and everypony games. You can also sign up for the chance to be an announcer! You may also sell refreshments (or anything else, for that matter). The maximum members of a team is 5. We wish you luck. Let the games begin! (Go to our desk outside Sugarcube Corner for more details.) That had been all it took for Rainbow Dash. She knew this was her chance to impress the Wonderbolts. Of course, she didn't want to do it alone, she wanted her friends to do it with her. (She did not see the part about only 5 per team.) On her way to show to Applejack's (for that where she was heading; she wanted to show her friend the poster), she bumped into another Pegasus. "Oops, sorry, Rainbow Dash," Derpy said. "That's okay, do I have any mail?" Rainbow asked the gray mailmare. "Not that I know- oops!" For Derpy had dropped a piece of mail. Rainbow Dash dived for it. "To Miss Rainbow Dash," it read. "I guess you do have mail," said Derpy, surprised. "Thanks," Rainbow called as she zoomed away. "Wait, Rainbow?" Derpy called. Rainbow halted. "Yeah, Derpy?" "Would you like to be on a team with me at the Equestria Games?" Derpy asked. "Maybe, I was going to go ask Applejack (and maybe Twilight and Pinkie and.. well, you get the idea) to be on a team with me," Rainbow explained. "Okay. I'm always available to be on a team with you!" Derpy said. "Thanks, Derpy. Look, I've got to go. Bye!" "Bye Rainbow!" Applejack was leaving the post office when Derpy came crashing in. "Rainbow Dash is looking for you," Derpy said. "Well, I want to ask her if she'll be on a team with me at the Equestria Games," explained Applejack. "I'm always willing to be on a team with you, too!" Derpy said. "You know where to find me." "Thanks Derpy. Got to run!" Applejack yelled back. In Applejack's hooves was an Equestria Games poster. Fluttershy was peering at the sign frightenedly. What if her friends wanted her to be on a team with them? She relaxed a bit when she saw the 5 per team thing. Maybe they wouldn't need her? She took the sign to look at and walked to the desk. She had a few questions. Applejack saw Fluttershy walking toward the Games desk. "Fluttershy? I wouldn't think of her in this sort of competition." Fluttershy saw Applejack walking towards her. "Of course, she'll want to talk with her friends about making a team right away. After all, the first poster appeared only this morning." Rainbow Dash saw Applejack and Fluttershy walking towards each other. "There's Applejack! Finally! I've been flying into pony after pony who wants to be on my team. Finally, some real competition." Applejack saw Rainbow Dash flying towards her and Fluttershy. "Rainbow!" Fluttershy saw Rainbow flying over to her and Applejack. She hid. "After all, if she can't find me, she can't ask me to be on her team." Derpy saw all 3 of them (including Fluttershy). She felt kind of sad when she saw Rainbow asking Applejack to be on her team, and even worse when she saw Applejack accept. No pony was on her team. Whenever she asked somepony, the answer was always the same: I'll think about it. And every time, they found a teammate, other than Derpy, and left her alone. Fluttershy saw Derpy and felt bad. She decided something. She came out of her hiding place and whispered something to Derpy. "Sure!" And for Fluttershy, it was a very brave thing to do. She had decided to sign up for the announcer drawing, with Derpy as a team. That way, if she was picked, she could be right with her friends without having to compete! (And later, when she went up to the Games desk outside Sugarcube Corner, she found out if you weren't chosen, you got half off your ticket to watch the games. It assured her that this was the right thing to do.) Derpy was thrilled, too. Finally, she had a team! Twilight Sparkle was in her library sweeping, when Spike came bursting in. "What is it?" Twilight asked, dropping the broom. "Did you get a letter from Rarity or something?" "No! It's this!" Spike held out the Equestria games poster as Applejack walked in. "Oh! Is that the poster someone put on the library?" Twilight asked just as Applejack said. "Twilight! Look at this!" "I've already got one," Twilight said, unrolling the poster. She quickly read it and looked up. "So I guess you want me to be on a team with me?" "Yep," Applejack said. "Rainbow's already on a team with me." "Well, in that case- wait a minute! It says 5 per team! One of our friends can't be on our team!" Twilight said. "Fluttershy signed up for the announcer draw," Applejack explained. "Really?" "She signed up with Derpy." "Oh," Twilight said. "Well, let's go ask Rarity and Pinkie!" "Absolutely not!" Rarity said, shocked, looking at the sign. "You know I don't like getting my hooves dirty, and there will be a lot of icky mud." "But Rarity! We need somepony to supervise the Cutiemark Crusaders! It's a rule!" Sweetie Belle exclaimed. "Well, I'll supervise you, I just won't play," Rarity said. "It's- the- rules," Sweetie Belle said. "Rarity, Rarity, Rarity!" Twilight called. "Yes?" Rarity answered. "I'm in here!" "Good. Would- you- like- to be- on a- team with us?" Twilight tried to catch her breath. "I told Sweetie Belle n-" "Please?" Rarity saw Applejack and Rainbow in the window. Rarity sighed. "Fine." "Whopee! Of couse I'll do it! It sounds fun!" That was Pinkie Pie's reply when her friends told her about the games. "Let's go!" "Um, Pinkie?" Rainbow said. "It's not until 2 weeks from now." "Okay, you want some cake?" Pinkie held out some cake. "No. If you want to compete, you have to exercise. You have to work together. Be prepared. And no sweets," Rainbow said. "No sweets? I'd only do it for my friends!" Pinkie said. "Good- wait a minute, you are on our team, right?" Rainbow asked. "Yep!" "Good. See you tomorrow bright and early." As Rainbow left, Twilight whispered, "Don't worry, you can have sweets." Pinkie smiled. "So will you?" Applebloom asked. The Cutiemark Crusaders looked up hopefully. "PLEASE?" "Eeyup." Big Mac said. "Yeah!" the Crusaders high-fived each other. This was going to be fun! "Cutiemark Crusaders Equestria Games winners!" The Crusaders yelled happily. Diamond Tiara snickered. "We're going to beat those babies," she said to Silver Spoon. "We sure will!" Silver Spoon answered. "Yes, you will, girls," said Diamond Tiara's father, Filthy Rich (he was their supervisor). "Yes, we will win!"

Well, when she got there Pinkie Pie threw her a "super-funtastical" party. "Having fun yet?" Pinkie asked for the millionth time. "No, not until you stop asking!" the trainer, Philly Train-me said grumpily. "That's silly. How will I know you're having fun if I don't ask?" Pinkie replied. The next day, Philly rang a cowbell. "It's bright and early. Get up! Get up! Time to start training!" Rainbow Dash yawned. "We don't need to train. After all, you are talking to the fastest flyer in Equestria! Go home. Rest. Relax. Enjoy yourself." A grin spread across Philly's face. "You know what? I think I will. Goodbye Ponyville, he-llo Manehatten!" "Just tell Babs Seed the Cutiemark Crusaders say hi. Wait- never mind, I forgot she was visiting Ponyville, so she could join the other Crusaders in training," Rainbow replied. "Where's Philly?" Twilight asked a little while later. "Probably home by now," Rainbow answered. "RAINBOW!" "I'm happy to join my fellow Crusaders in training!" Babs said. "Oh, this is so exciting!" Sweetie Belle said happily. "Cutiemark Crusaders Equestria Games winners!" "Yeah!" the other 3 chorused. "Eeyup," Big Mac agreed. "All right, Sweetie Belle, aim at the target!" Sweetie Belle lowered her head as her horn didn't light up and as magic didn't come out of her horn. "Sweetie Belle, you can just compete in Everypony Events," the Crusader's trainer, a Unicorn named Magician Flower said. "No! I want to do magic!" Sweetie Belle yelled. The other Crusaders looked at each other worriedly. "I want to get my cutiemark and win! Which I can't do if I can't do magic!" Sweetie whined. Magician Flower sighed. "Then I guess it looks like we have our work cut out for us." "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Sweetie Belle yelled happily. "Scootaloo, you have to flap your wings," Magician Flower called. It was a little while later. Sweetie Belle was happy because she had produced a spark, but by then Magician had decided to move onto another Crusader. Unfortunately, Scootaloo wasn't any better at flying than Sweetie Belle was at magic. "I'm- trying..." Scootaloo answered. She jumped. "Don't push yourself. Let it come more naturally," Magician explained. "How would you know, you're a unicorn!" Scootaloo said, stopping. "My twin brother is a Pegasus," Magician Flower said. "That makes sense," Scootaloo said, embarrassed. "All right, again," Magician yelled. "On the count of three. One... two..." "Babs, dig like this," Magician demonstrated digging. "Oh! That makes more sense!" Babs said. She tried it. "No, like this," Magician demonstrated again. "Okay!" "No, like THIS!" Magician took Babs' hoof and made her dig. "Oh!" Babs tried again. "Not like that!" "No, Applebloom, you have to water the seeds," Magician Flower said. It was an hour later. Magician finally had to move onto another Crusader. Unfortunately, Applebloom proved to be just as hopeless. "Silly seeds!" Applebloom said grumpily. "Eeyup," Big Mac agreed. "Stupid wings!" Scootaloo yelled from across the park. She was continuing her training alone. "Eeyup," Big Mac agreed. "Crazy horn!" Sweetie Belle said from the opposite side of the park from Scootaloo. "Eeyup," Big Mac agreed. "Dumb old dirt!" Babs yelled, still practicing her digging. "Eeyup," Big Mac agreed. "Calm down, fillies," Magician said. Applebloom looked at Big Mac. "Don't say it..." "Eeyup," Big Mac agreed. The Crusaders bursted out laughing. It was going to be a long day of training. Eeyup. "Are you excited? 'Cause I'm excited. I've never been so excited! Well, except for the time I saw you walking into town and I went HUH! But I mean really, who can top that?" Pinkie asked. The train to the Crystal Empire was full. It seemed everypony in Equestria wanted to participate in the games! The only problem was, everypony was running into rivals. Twilight saw Trixie, Rainbow saw Lightning Dust, and Applejack and Big Mac ran into Orangejack and Big Orange! Eeyup. Everypony in the train (except Pinkie) was worried about something or another. And now, let's tune into the Cutiemark Crusaders as they notice Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. "Cutiemark Crusaders Equestria Games winners!" the Crusaders yelled for the umpteenth time. "More like Cutiemark Crusaders babies," Diamond Tiara snickered. "What are you doing here?" Applebloom asked. "Competing, what else? I wouldn't want to be a silly announcer." That remark made Fluttershy look a little teary. "Hey, no one hurts Rainbow Dash's friends!" Scootaloo yelled angrily. "Oh, you're apples. I didn't hurt her. All I said is I wouldn't want to be an announcer." Applebloom looked angry. (So did Applejack- Diamond Tiara pretty much called apples crazy. You're apples? You're nuts?) "Don't hurt Applebloom!" Scootaloo yelled. Diamond Tiara snickered. "Bye, losers," Diamond Tiara said. She and Silver Spoon walked off. Babs looked at her fellow Crusaders. Applebloom and Scootaloo looked angry. Sweetie Belle looked like she was about to cry. "Don't pay attention to them," Babs said. "Do you really think we'll lose?" Sweetie Belle whimpered. "Babs is right, we shouldn't listen to her. She's the loser," Scootaloo comforted as the train pulled to a stop. "Everypony off!" the Conducter yelled. Ponies filed off. When the Crusaders walked off they saw a sign that read: WELCOME COMPETITORS! "Wow," Scootaloo breathed. "This. Is. AWESOME!" Princess Cadence stepped over to them. "Welcome competitors. The games start tomorrow,so if I were you, I'd use the rest of the day to relax. Enjoy the Crystal empire!" And with that, the princess walked away. And with that, we end our prologue.
Event 0- The Drawing, the Teams, and the RulesView OnlineThe Equestria GamesEvent 0- The Drawing, the Teams, and the Rules"Let the games begin!" This is where our chapter both begins and ends. Let the games begin. The Announcer Drawing, the teams, and the rules. These are what our pony friends call "Event 0". And so shall we. First up is the announcer drawing. Princess Cadence held up the hat (Applejack's, in case you're wondering). She reached her hoof in. "Fluttershy and Derpy!" Fluttershy's and Derpy's friends whooped and hollered. The other ponies just clapped politely. "Me?" Fluttershy asked. When she had signed up -which as I said was a very brave thing to do- she hadn't expected to be chosen. After all, there were probably hundreds of ponies who signed up. Right? "Yes, you Fluttershy. I'd say you didn't have to, but it seems you and Derpy were the only ones to sign up!" Cadence said. "Oh, well, in that case, I'll do it," Fluttershy said. Rainbow Dash slapped her head. Oh boy, were they in trouble. Fluttershy didn't just have to tell what was happening in the games, she also had to announce the standings and rules! (Rainbow thought -and hoped- Derpy would do most of the announcing.) Pinkie Pie smiled. That sounded fun! Applejack laughed. It was an uneasy laugh. This was going to be... interesting. Rarity whispered to Fluttershy, "I'll trade places with you." Fluttershy shook her head. She knew she had to do it. She had promised Derpy. Twilight sighed. Guess that means I'd better give her the present I got her for Hearth's Warming Eve early. Cadence walked over to Shining Armor and whispered something in his ear. He nodded. "And we'll help you announce," Cadence said. Next are the teams. Each of the teams have names and numbers. Announcer(s): Fluttershy and Derpy Team 1- The Elements of Harmony: Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash Team 2- The Candy Lyres: Bon Bon, Lyra Heartstrings Team 3- Lucky: Star, Lucky Horseshoe, Moondancer Team 4- The Cutie Mark Crusaders: Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo, Babs Seed, Big Macintosh Team 5- Orange Oranges: Big Orange, Orangejack Team 6- One-Pony-Band: Blue Cotton Candy Team 7- Blue Sugar Sisters: Minty, Blue Frosting, Candy Turquoise Team 8- Party Ploppers: Green Garden, Pink Cotton Candy Team 9- Flim Flam Brothers: Flim, Flam Team 10- Rich Silver Tiara: Diamond Tiara, Silver Spoon, Filthy Rich Team 11- Carrot Punch: Carrot Top, Berry Punch Team 12- Cherries: Cherry Jubilee, Cherry Strudel Team 13- Shiphirre: Shinity, Sapphire Team 14- The Fashionistas: Fancy Pants, Fleur De Lis, Photo Finish Finally, there's the rules. Now, as Fluttershy is very quiet, and it was her to tell the rules, I'll tell you the rules. There are 4 types of games- Everypony, Earth, Pegasus and Unicorn. If you don't have the correct type of pony, 5 points are automatically added to your score. For example, The Candy Lyres does not have a Pegasus. So when there's a Pegasus game, 5 points will be added to their score. Of course, they will not play Pegasus games. There is one big game for each type of pony, including Everypony. At the end, the 5 teams with the most points will play one final game to determine the winner. Each of the games will have their own rules. It's time to move onto the first event. So... "Let the games begin!"
Event 1- (Everypony): Card SleddingView OnlineThe Equestria GamesEvent 1- (Everypony): Card SleddingEverypony who competes in the Games gets a card for in some of the games you use them. The 1st Event is one of those games. The game is: Card Sledding. Of course, the ponies didn't know that. They didn't even know what kind of event came first. "Ponies, please get in your order in which you will participate in Everypony games," Derpy said. "These are the rules," she continued. "Everypony goes to the top of Mud Mountain. (The mountain is surrounded by mud.) They stand (or sit) on their cards as they slide down the mountain. If you fall off your card, your team gets no points and you don't continue to the next round of the Event. If you stay on your card, you continue until there is just 1 pony left standing (or sitting). Please have your first pony stand up." Derpy started calling out who was playing the game. "From Team 1- Applejack!" The other ponies on her team looked relieved. After all, this was her best Everypony game! She had even beat the Luckies at it before! "From Team 2- Bon Bon!" Lyra cheered. "From Team 3- Moondancer!" Applejack looked happy, the Lucky teammate she had beaten was Moondancer! "From Team 4- Big Mac!" The Crusaders cheered. It ran in the family to do well in this game! Applejack looked a little nervous. "From Team 5- Orangejack!" Applejack gritted her teeth. "From Team 6- Blue Cotton Candy!" Everypony laughed. After all, Blue Cotton Candy was the only pony on her team! "From Team 7- Minty!" Minty looked pleased. Everypony knew she liked mint sledding. She hoped it wasn't much different! "From Team 8- Green Garden!" Pinkie Pie gave her a thumbs up. She was the leader of the Party Ploppers group, but she told them to do the games without her. She didn't want to disappoint her friends! "From Team 9- Flim! Or is it Flam?" Derpy said, confused. "It's Flim," Flim assured her. "From Team 9- Flim!" Everypony laughed. "From Team 10- Silver Spoon!" Diamond Tiara and Filthy Rich both refused to do Everypony Events. "From Team 11- Carrot Top!" Berry Punch looked relieved. After all, Carrot Top was more used to mud! "From Team 12- Cherry Jubilee!" Everypony clapped. Cherry Jubilee smiled. "From Team 13- Sapphire!" Rarity gritted her teeth. Everypony knew she did not like Sapphire's teammate, Shinity. And everypony also knew Shinity did liked getting her hooves dirty even less than Rarity did. Rarity might compete in an Everypony Event just to make her mad. And, the reason why Rarity gritted her teeth was that even the mention of Shinity's team made her mad. "And finally, last but not least, from Team 14- Fleur De Lis!" Everypony clapped politely. All the ponies who's names were called gathered their cards and walked up the mountain. "First up is Applejack!" Applejack hopped onto her card and slid down the mountain. she landed upright on her card. She took her card and went to the back of the line. "The Elements of Harmony- 1 point." (A computer was now doing the talking.) "Next up is Bon Bon!" Bon Bon jumped onto her card and fell straight down. "The Candy Lyres- 0 points." Bon Bon took her card and walked back to Lyra sadly. "Next is Moondancer!" Moondancer landed smoothly at the bottom. "Lucky- 1 point." "Big Macintosh!" Big Mac stayed on. The Crusaders cheered. "The Cutiemark Crusaders- 1 point." "Orangejack! Orange Oranges- 1 point." Applejack gritted her teeth. "Blue Cotton Candy! One-Pony-Band- 0 points." "Oh well," Candy said, shrugging. "Minty! Blue Sugar Sisters- 1 point." "Yeah!" her teammates cheered. "Green Garden! Party Ploppers- 0 points." The Party Ploppers both plopped, along with Pinkie Pie who had yelled, "All right, Ploppers! Follow my lead!" Plop. Plop. Plop. "Flim! Flim Flam Brothers- 0 points." "Next time, Flim," Flam said. "Yes, Flam." "Silver Spoon! Rich Silver Tiara- 1 point." "Yes!" Diamond Tiara yelled. "Carrot Top! Carrot Punch- 0 points." "Oh, well," Carrot Top sighed. "Cherry Jubilee! Cherries- 0 points." "Would anypony like to buy some cherries?" Everypony shook their head. "Okay." "Sapphire! Shiphirre- 1 point." Rarity gritted her teeth. "Fleur De Lis! Fashionistas- 1 point." "At least I didn't fall in the mud," Fleur muttered. It finally got down to Applejack, Big Mac, Minty, and Moondancer. All 4 teams had 20 points. Each pony was covered in sweat and mud. They all got onto their cards. All 4 slid down at once, to different sides of the mountain. Applejack saw the mud approaching her, and fast. So did all the others. The crowd leaned forward as... Author's Note Note: I'm going on a short hiatus so I can work on some new stories.
