//-------------------------------------------------------// Just me and my friend Rainbow Dash -by Forest_Lightning- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 Greetings. My name is Forest Lightning, and I want to tell you about a story that changed my life, forever. It was a stormy night in the Everfree Forest. I can only remember me being a little baby being carried in a woven basket made by my mother. It's vague, but I can still pull out the big parts of what happened. My eyes were closed, and I can hear the clopping of my mother's hooves along the wet dirt road. The rain had somehow slipped through the thick leaves of the trees, with the little raindrops coming toward me, dropping on my head. I could hear the sound of thunder, even though I was dreaming. I can't remember what it was about, but once I opened my eyes, my mother was gone. I looked around, and above me stood a full-grown pony's head. When I looked through the gap in the trees, I saw my first flash of lighting. I could see the jagged edges running across the sky. I felt the pulling motion from my basket, and I was laid down next to a warm fireplace. I didn't know who the pony was or why my mom brought me here. I fell asleep a little while later. I opened my eyes once more, and I could see the gleaming rays of the sun along the window, still covered in little raindrops. "Good morning," said the voice of the pony. I looked where the voice was, and I saw in front of me the pony who brought me in from the storm. She had an orange-red fur coat, and a blue mane, half of it covering one of her eyes. "Your name will be Forest Lightning." I didn't know why she called me this, but recalling last night, I saw my first flash of lightning, thus, my last name came to be, and my first name, well, it's quite obvious. "My name is Burning Raindrop, and I'll be your caretaker." I never asked why my mother brought me here, for the matter that I was a baby and couldn't talk. It was mid-day, and I was outside, enjoying the nice breeze of the forest. Raindrop stood next to me, looking up at the sun. "It's a miracle of what the Pegasus ponies can bring us," the blue-haired pony said. It was a while that I saw my first rainbow. I looked at it, and something went through me. It was like a shot of love went right through my heart. From then on, I always loved rainbows; how they gleamed their bright colors. As a baby, I learned my ways around the house, and the pony's rules: Don't hurt anypony else if they did something to you. If I'm busy, be patient. The biggest one: Don't try to make others jealous of your belongings. You are your own, and no one can take that away from you. These were imbedded into my head, as if somepony took a memory card and stuck it inside. I always admired Raindrop. The way she looked out for me. The way she fed me. It was as if she was my real mother. A few years have gone by. The same house, the same caretaker ;but I'm now a little filly. I have permission to go out of the house, but be sure to be back before Princess Luna raises the moon. Sometimes I see a mailpony walking past. I say "Good morning", and "How was your day?" I clop along the dirt path, look up at the sky, sometimes cloudy, sometimes clear. Sometimes I even get special permission to go up to Cloudsdale. They have the best shows. I always cheer them on, even though they aren't my team. After Cloudsdale, I head into Ponyville, sometimes either going into Sugercube Corner for a shake, or heading to the flower shop to get a flower for my caretaker. I always to be sure of my surroundings. Sometimes I run into my friend Soarin', who has a craving for apple pie. Why, I'll never know. But I like him like that. It started to get dark, so I headed back to my house. It was a long walk. I bumped into some friends, and some I didn't know, both old and young. I pass Sugarcube Corner, and the flower shop. I wave goodbye, as another day has come to pass. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 It gets darker, but I finally make it to my cozy home, Raindrop waiting at the door to hug me. Once I step inside,it's the same old routine. Eat my dinner, than off to bed. Tonight was different for some reason. I couldn't go to sleep. I try to pull my cover over my head, but nothing worked. Finally I had the urge to get out of bed and look at the moon. It was a beauty. I heard a knock at the door. The orange-furred pony was asleep, so I was able to get to the door. I opened it, and saw a grey pony. She had wings, just like my and Raindrop, and had a yellow mane. Her eyes, were different though. One was down and one was up. She looked like she needed help. I invited her in, and sat her down. She looked like she was lost. So, I started asking her questions. I think this was how it went. "Hi there. My name's Forest Lighting." "Hi," she replied. It took her a minute, but she said it. "What's your name?" I asked the yellow-colored mane pony. "My names Derpy Hooves. I was flying over the Everfree Forest and I crash landed. I was okay, but I damaged my wing a little." She showed me both of them. The right one was okay, a little dirty from the path, and the other was injured. It looked broken, and I couldn't leave a filly like this. I searched for some bandages. None in the kitchen. None in the bathroom. From all the noise I was making I was surprised Raindrop didn't wake up. As I was about to give up, i found some bandages in my room. I guess if I did something to hurt myself, she would be able to take care of it. I took the powdered roll and got to work. She laid on the table, hooves close to her body, and still giving off a derpy look. I guess I know why they called her that. She made some whimpering noises, but I kept her calm. The top wing is wrapped. "What were you doing flying over the forest?" I asked the hurt pony. "I was flying to make sure the sky was clear for the night. I guess I forgot to flap my wing and lost focus. Just like that, I was on the ground." From her perspective, I guess it was bad. "I saw the light of the house, and slowly walked toward it. It looked like a nice place." "I guess you were hurt pretty bad," I said to the grey furred pony. She nodded, as I tied up the bandage. I helped her off the table. "Thanks kind filly," she said, as she kissed me on the cheek. "Anything I would do to help someone." She nodded, giving off a smile. Her stomach growled. "I guess I was pretty worn out after my little incident," she said as she looked at her belly. I just remembered. Me and raindrop made some blueberry muffins, and they were still on the counter top. So I asked, "Would you like a muffin? They're on the stove." She nodded, as she walked with me to the kitchen. I grabbed the platter of steaming muffins, and lowered it down to the ground, handing her one. She took a bite, and she smiled. "These are wonderful!" she exclaimed, jumping up and down, and landing in a flop. I giggled a little. "I think you would be a good cook." "Thanks," I said, blushing a little. "I think I'll start to head back up to Cloudsdale," said Derpy as she started to walk out. I looked surprised. After what happened, I doubt she could fly. Plus, I don't want her to injure herself anymore than she did. "Would you like to stay here for the night?" I asked. The little filly jumped for joy. "Oh boy!" she yelled. At this point, I was actually looking for Raindrop. Still nothing. Wow. I lead her to my room, where she slept in my bed, and I laid on the floor. I closed my eyes. "Hey, kind filly. I never got your name." I looked up at her, thinking I did. But it's been a long night, and she might not have remembered it. "My name's Forest Lightning" I said.
