What? No of course they don't live in a gingerbread house you silly.
"RRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNG"
The alarm clock continued to ring as Mr.Cake got up to turn it off, careful not to wake up Mrs.Cake. He went downstairs to the kitchen still half asleep to make a morning coffee for himself and his wife.He set one cup on the table as he drank his first sip.
What he saw made him do a spit-take followed by dropping his coffee. He saw the calendar. It read June 22nd.
"HONEY BUNCH!" Screamed Mr.Cake to his wife upstairs.
Mrs.Cake walked downstairs still sleepy. Seeing the cup of coffee on the table, she lazily picked it up. After taking a sip, she walked next to her husband.
"What's wrong dear?" She asked.
Mr.Cake gave an incoherent babble as he pointed at the calendar. June 22nd.
Mrs.Cake responded by spitting her coffee in her husbands face and giving and ear piercing shriek.
Now you may be asking why the Cakes were so worried about June 22nd. What could possibly elicit these kinds of reactions? The fact was that June 22nd was their bakery's anniversary, and not just any anniversary. It was their 10th anniversary. A whole decade of making cupcakes and selling muffins. 10 years of baking pies and frosting cakes. 3,652 days of bringing happiness to ponies through sugary treats.
Yes indeed this day was special indeed. And they weren't prepared.
The cakes looked behind the curtains of their home/bakery and saw a sea of tents pitched right outside their door. The only thing they could do was scream in horror at the scene before them.
Two cries came from upstairs.
"The Twins!" Mr.Cake said with panic in his eyes before promptly fainting. Mrs.Cake, not far behind, also fainted.
They both quickly recovered before falling right back into panic.
"We have a little over an hour before we open." Said Mr.Cake starting to hyperventilate." I’ll start things up in the kitchen, you check on the twins and wake up Pinkie. We need all the help we can get!"
Mr.Cake ran into the kitchen with a speed that would make Rainbow Dash jealous, starting up the stoves, and mixing bowls.
Mrs.Cake walked up the stairs as quickly as she could without tripping over herself and barged into the twins' room. Pound Cake was hitting the sides of his crib trying to break out, while his sister Pumpkin Cake was gnawing on the wooden bars also trying to escape (or trying to have breakfast. Personally, I don’t believe she cared).
Mrs.Cake quickly grabbed her kids, changed them, fed them, and placed them in the playpen in the corner of their room before rushing out.
Mrs.Cake rushed up another flight of stairs to the third floor where Pinkie lived. She loudly knocked on the door before it gave out and fell open. The room was empty of life. Even Gummy, Pinkie's pet alligator, was missing.
On a desk next to Pinkie's bed there was a note addressed to her and Mr.Cake.
Mr. and Mrs. Cake,
As we all know, Sugar Cube Corner is having its birthday soon. I decided to throw it the biggest, bestest party of all time. I invited everypony in Ponyville, as well as Canterlot, Manehatten, Phillydelphia, Detrot, Los Pegasus, Appleoosa, Trottingham, Cloudsdale, Hoofington, Baltimare, and even the ponies of the Crystal Empire, The princesses themselves are coming. I might be gone a few days as I had to leave to invite everypony, but I'm sure you can manage without me.

Mrs.Cake almost toppled over as she read the note. Not only were there no sweets, Pinkie had also left, and more ponies were coming this way. Even the princesses themselves! And they had less than what was now 15 minutes to make enough food to satisfy all these ponies.
Mrs.Cake raced downstairs to show her husband the letter, and when he did he let out a very girlish scream. He quickly opened the fridge to see what Pinkie had left for them. Inside they found a single cupcake with the icing licked off and a single bite missing. Next to it was another note.
Sorry, Gummy was hungry too.
Now the Cakes were very worried. They had no food, no help, and no time. As if to make matters worse, the twins came down the stairs. Pound was flying while Pumpkin was levitating herself. They decided that if their parents weren't going to pay any attention to them then they would make a mess in the kitchen. Using the pots and pans available to her, Pumpkin decided to smash the ovens and stoves in the kitchen. Pound thought to use his front hooves and crush all the tables and glass he could find.
Outside the ponies heard the smashing and took it as a sign that they were open for business. Ponies flooded the bakery, pushing and shoving. What the twins hadn't broken was being broken by the ponies, who were all chattering away.
The ponies formed a giant tidal wave and Mr. and Mrs. Cake were swept away, only to crash into a support beam and climb it up as more ponies started to fill the room. In the background of the room, they heard their twins flying and levitating to higher ground.
"Well dear," Mrs. Cake said as she hung on to the beam with dear life. " I just want you to know that I have always loved you."
"Since this is the end could you answer me one question?" Said Mr. Cake. “What is it dearest?" Mrs. Cake replied.
"Are the twins really my kids?"
"Of course they are, whatever gave you the idea that they weren't?" She said. " Oh no reason." he said as they continued to scream.
"PA-BUM-BUM-BUM-BUM-BUM-PA BARA- BUM-BUM-BA-BUM-BARA-BA-BUM"
The Cakes looked around sputtering, and saw Pinkie Pie flying, holding a spatula with three heads which was spinning keeping her afloat.
"Hiya Mr. and Mrs. Cake."
"Pinkie Pie!" They both managed to shout through their sputtering.
"Wow! There sure are a lot of ponies here, and still more to come. I invited ponies from all over Equestria." She said with a happy smile.
" Pinkie!" Mrs. Cake shouted. " Help us! There are no supplies, the shop is a mess and the twins destroyed the kitchen."
"No worries, I've got you covered. To the kitchen! Who's hungry!" Pinkie said as she spun on her spatula.
Pinkie then flew into the kitchen and started to work. A quick spin got rid of all the broken debris, followed by her pulling new ovens and stoves out of her mane. She then proceed to pull ingredients out of her mane as well, and started to mix them in bowls only to throw the entire bowl in the oven. A ding is instantly heard, popping fresh cupcakes out of the oven and back into Pinkie’s work area. She frosted them and gave them a whack out of the kitchen where they landed in somepony's mouth. This repeated until the very last pony had left.
"Pinkie Pie that was amazing!" Shouted Mr.Cake who was pushing a wheelbarrow full of bits, while the twins played in a mountain of bits behind him.
"Indeed it was my little ponies." Mr. Cake turned around to see Princess Celestia and Luna behind him and instantly bowed to them. "That was quite impressive Pinkie." Celestia said " Though I don't suppose I could trouble you for a slice of cake could I?”
Pinkie's face then grew serious as she pulled out her spatula and flew into the kitchen. A dozen cakes flew out behind her and threw Celestia out of the bakery.
" Oh sister dear," Luna said "Come see your credit fee.”
