Once A Shadow: Diplomatic Immunity
A darkish blue pony with a night black mane and tail trotted down the hallways of the Cloudsdale Cloudoseum.. with a fancy navy blue suit, cravat, and rounded glasses, he looked like he could have hopped out a portal from 300 years ago. However, his mane style was completely out of place, being very long and unkempt, resembling that of a newly recruited Wonderbolt, Rainbow Dash. It was currently strewn across his face, however, considering the fact he had just been in a fight with the king of the Griffon Kingdom. He took an elevator hidden behind numerous crates in a storage room down to the lower levels of the cloud stadium. When the elevator opened, he slowly trotted down the hall.
He saw two other members of the Fugiens Mones, Soarin and Shadow Flash, leaning against the wall and chatting. When Shadow Flash took one look at the pony his facial expression quickly changed.
"Woah, Swift, what-"
"Is it that noticeable?" Swift asked, touching his black eye and proceeding to feel the numerous cuts upon his body. He just realized his suit was torn up with flaps of it hanging off. It was an expensive replacement, and he had been too angry to notice it.
It was very noticeable.
"Yea, it is. What happened with the meeting?" asked Soarin.
"King Jackass pissed me off, that's what happened. He doesn't know what he's doing and he's trying to rule a country..."
"What made you fight him?" asked Shadow. Swift sighed.
"I don't wanna talk about it, where's Spitfire?" he asked in an aggressive tone.
"In her office, where she always is. If you need help or something, we're here-"
"No. Just...I'll be leaving now." Swift said, before storming off.
He walked down a few more steps before bursting through the door to Spitfire's office; sure enough, she was there doing paperwork for the Wonderbolts, probably for some charity event.
"You didn't tell me the king was a narcissistic idiot!" Swift shouted sitting down in the chair across from Spitfire's desk. Spitfire took one look at Swift and her expression turned from boredom to anger.
"What did you do?" she asked slowly with rising anger in her voice. Swift bit his tongue.
"I...got in a fight with Griffon King. And I kicked his ass. And then I was tazed. A lot." said Swift. Spitfire looked like she could have exploded.
"YOU WHAT!!??? WE NEEDED YOU DESPERATLY AND THIS IS WHAT YOU GIVE ME? THE GRIFFON KINGDOM IS PROBABLY PLANNING AN ATTACK ON EQUESTRIA RIGHT NOW!!!" Spitfire screamed, pacing back and forth.
"Oh, the King isn't doing anything right now." Swift said. Spitfire looked confused.
"What?"
"He's unconscious." Swift casually answered, leaning back in his chair.
That earned him a hard punch in his already black eye. He fell hard to the floor, seeing stars and struggling to get up.
"You...this is the last straw. the Fugiens Mones need diplomacy, I get it, but what you did is the exact opposite of what you are required to do in your contract. You are no longer a member of the Fugiens Mones."
Swift suddenly looked alarmed and found his speech.
"Woah, you can't do that!" Swift remarked, finally finding strength to stand up. "Listen, I'll make a compromise. I go to the Griffon Kingdom and make things right, if it's through diplomacy or fear. If I do that, I get membership and full duty back. If not, my ass gets killed and you can sadistically laugh from this office." Spitfire thought for a moment.
"...okay. I can do that. BUT, here are the rules. I take back your Mones insignia. If you are caught by guards for doing illegal activities, you will get caught and your ass thrown in jail, and don't crawl to me. We won't help you or back you and since you're are currently unemployed you have no diplomatic immunity. Understand?" Spitfire said. Swift bit his tongue again.
"Yea. Sounds good." he went to stumble out of the room before Spitfire stopped him. He turned around.
"The Fugiens Mones are Equestria's most secret agency. When we do things, we do them for the good of Equestria and to make our citizens believe in peace and good. when you do things like this, it threatens us as a whole and puts other ponies in danger. Do you understand why you got fired?"
"Of course I do. I'll see you in a little while, Spitfire, and you can count on it." Swift stumbled out of the room.
Spitfire leaned back in her chair and sighed. Being the leader of an ancient order was not easy, especially since she probably being doing for a very, very, VERY long time.
It was during her moment of pondering that Soarin walked into her office.
"What is with that guy, anyways?" asked Soarin. This was only the second time he had seen Swift.
Spitfire rummaged through her files and came up with Swift's. He looked sophisticated even during his mugshot and looked like he could have been complaining about taxes during the late 1700's.
"Swift. Fugiens Mones only diplomat. Has extensive combat training but deduction and diplomatic skills were too incredible to pass up. Graduated first in his class at the Canterlot School for Gifted Ponies; the only earth pony to ever accomplish the feat. Swift has had notable incidents that have pushed him closer to the edge of dishonorable discharge; including being a primary suspect in a blackmail case in Saddle Arabia but diplomatic immunity saved him. Informally discharged for the attack of the King of The Griffon kingdom with possible guidelines for reinstatement. " Spitfire read. Soarin was stunned.
"You let him go?" asked Soarin in shock.
"Yes, I did. He's an insubordinate firebrand and even I can't put into shaped. I gave him a chance to come back, but I doubt he'll be able to do it. If he isn't back within a year I'll have to pronounce him M.I.A."
