Mixer: The Nightmare Knight?
“Ohh, my head,” I moaned.
I shifted in my bed, suffering from what felt like the worst hangover in the world.
I noticed that I was wearing armor.
“Was I at some kind of party?” I asked out loud.
I got up and looked out the window of the Canterlot castle window and saw that it was still night outside.
“It is morning right?” I said out loud again.
A knock came from the door, followed by a deep voice, “Sir, are you awake yet?”
“Hold one a minute,” I said back going to a mirror.
My jaw dropped at what I saw.
I was wearing very ornate, indigo armor, and I had no visible scar on my face.
I shook my head, hoping that I was just seeing things, but when I looked again, the same reflection was staring back at me.
“Sir, your presence is requested in the throne room,” the voice said again.
I took a deep breath, and tried to think of some explanation for this, but finding none decided to open the door.
“You look like you have been better,” the stallion said, wearing something that looked like the Lunar guard armor.
“Oh, I have,” I said.
“Well, you had better shape up. You are the head of the army after all,” he said.
“Army?” I asked.
“I think you had a little too much to drink last night,” he said.
“I can’t remember much right now with my head throbbing like this,” I said.
“I thought you would know better than to get wasted just because of a victory,” he said shaking his head.
“Which victory was this?” I asked.
He sighed, “Do I have to re teach you everything?”
“Sorry, but I can’t remember the last time I felt this bad,” I said.
“Well seeing as how you can barely remember your own name, I think you should go see one of the medics about that hangover,” the stallion said.
“Thanks, uh...”
“Midnight,” he sighed.
“Thanks Midnight,” I said.
“I’ll go inform Nightmare Moon, that you’ll be late,” he said.
I had to keep myself from blurting some unthinking response.
Nothing made any sense at that moment. Nightmare Moon was ruling Equestria, it was night during the day, and I was the head of an army.
At least the layout of the castle was the same, and I was able to find a unicorn that fixed my headache.
I left for the throne room after I felt better and tried to put together what was going on.
When I reached the throne room, Nightmare Moon was sitting upon the throne, and Chrysalis was talking to her!
“You wanted to see me?” I said.
“Ah, there you are,” Nightmare Moon said.
“Drink a little too much last night did you?” Chrysalis chided.
Nightmare Moon shot her a look and she seemed to settle a bit.
“It’s not like you to celebrate so hard Mixer, but I suppose after conquering Saddle Arabia, you deserve it,” Nightmare Moon said.
“Yes, Saddle Arabia...” I said.
“Is there something wrong my champion?” she asked, her starry mane wrapping around my shoulder.
“No, just some after effects from getting my hangover fixed,” I said.
“Well, once you are feeling more like yourself, perhaps you’d like to give the prisoner their, inspection,” Chrysalis said, putting emphasis on “inspection”.
“Now Chrysalis, there is no need to continually torment them,” Nightmare Moon said, her tone one of mirth.
“”Oh, I’m sure your sister would be delighted to hear that,” Chrysalis said jokingly.
“I take it there is nothing else I have to take care of before hand,” I said.
“No, I have delegated your regular duties to Midnight for the day,” she said.
“Thank you,” I said, turning to go.
“Oh, and don’t forget to tell us all about it,” Chrysalis called after me.
As I wandered the halls, heading towards the dungeon, I contemplated my situation.
I had lead some form of army to conquer Saddle Arabia, and I had apparently gotten myself wasted in the celebrations. Nightmare Moon and Chrysalis ruled Equestria, and had Celestia and some others in captivity.
As I walked through the halls, I passed a few changelings, as well as some guards and some depressed looking servants.
As I neared the dungeon, I steeled myself for what I would find.
A pair of guard saluted me as I entered the dungeon, and went into the first cell.
I saw Rainbow Dash, chained to the wall, her wings beaten, if not broken outright.
She lifted her head as I entered.
“What do you want?” she asked weakly.
“I want information,” I said, trying my best to keep a quiver out of my tone.
“What could you want to know that you already don’t?” she questioned.
I moved closer to her, until we were face to face.
“Dash, I don’t know what I’m doing here. I just woke up this morning in the castle wearing this armor with a massive hangover,” I whispered.
“Yeah, I can still smell your breath,” she spat.
I sighed, “Being smart will get you nowhere,” I said in a louder voice.
“And trying to give me some stor-” I cut her off, shoving my hoof in her mouth.
“They don’t know that I’m not the same Mixer,” I hissed.
She glared at me, before biting into my hoof.
“Ow!” I said, pulling my hoof back.
I turned and walked out, moving to the next cell.
The next cell was occupied by Applejack, similarly chained as Rainbow Dash, and missing her signature hat.
“Applejack,” I said, moving closer to her.
She lashed out at me as soon as I got within her reach.
“You no good excuse of a pony! You’ve got no right showing your sorry flank,” she yelled.
I smacked her across the face in an attempt to quiet her down.
“Listen,” I said, holding her back with my magic, “I’d like to do this with as little hassle as possible.”
“Hassle? You cut me loose and I’ll show you hassle!” she spat.
I sighed, “I see that I’ll have no more luck with you than with Rainbow.”
“What did you do to her?” Applejack demanded.
I simply walked out, leaving her yelling after me as I closed the door.
Next in line was the one cell that I most wanted to avoid.
As I stepped in, I was holding back tears as I saw Fluttershy bound to the wall.
I closed the door behind me as I entered, walking slowly over to her.
She barely stirred as I approached.
“Fluttershy?” I asked in a hushed tone.
She didn’t respond.
“Fluttershy?” I asked again, with more urgency.
“Please leave me alone,” she said, her voice almost inaudible.
“Fluttershy...” I said, my voice trailing off.
I unlocked her bonds with my magic, letting her fall into my arms.
She looked up to my face, her eyes filled with confusion.
“Shh,” I said, holding her close.
“Wha?” she asked quietly.
“I’m so sorry,” I said.
“But...” she said.
“I’m not from here. I woke up this morning in a strange place, a place where everything I knew was wrong. Now, I’m trying to make sense of all this, and I need your help to do it,” I said.
“What do you mean?” she asked.
I sighed, “I want to go back to where I belong. But I want to set this world right first,” I said.
She looked at me, searching my face for the truth.
“But... how can I help?” she asked.
“For right now, simply stay safe,” I said, drawing her in and kissing her.
She let out a short squeak, then looked embarrassed when I pulled away.
“I have to go now,” I said, lifting her back up and redoing her bonds.
I topped it off with some artificial bruises, made by a color change spell, before leaving the cell.
Next was Rarity.
“Well, I do believe you have looked better,” I said as I entered.
“No thanks to you and those other brutes,” she lamented.
“And for that I can truly say I’m sorry,” I said softly.
“What?” she questioned.
“Shurley a mare of you demeanor would be willing to cooperate, and forego having to force information out of you,” I said.
“What do you mean?” she asked.
“I would like a brief synopsis of all that has transpired since Nightmare Moon’s return,” I requested.
“You really need to know?” she questioned.
“Yes, Fluttershy was cooperative, and I hope that you are as well,” I said.
“If you hurt one hair on her head, or one feather!” Rarity sapt.
“No need to worry yourself, she is unharmed,” I said, quietly.
Rarity told me how Nightmare Moon stopped Twilight and the others from finding the Elements of Harmony in time, and that Slowly, Equestria fell to her dominion. After that, Nightmare Moon solidified her rule by replacing the guard, making appearances in each major city, and making an alliance with Chrysalis.
“So, that’s what happened...” I said to myself.
“That’s all we know,” she said.
“Thank you,” I said, making the same artificial bruises on Rarity.
Next in line was Twilight.
“Twilight Sparkle,” I said, entering the cell.
By now, I was getting used to playing my role as Nightmare Moon’s general.
“What do you want?” she spat.
“Information, the same as you once sought,” I said.
“What could I possibly have to tell you?” she bit back.
“What indeed...” I said.
“What are you talking about?” she asked.
“To be frank Twilight, I have no business being here,” I said.
She looked quizzically at me.
I sighed, “This is getting rather tiresome. Having to consider the alternate timeline.”
“Alternate timeline? What are you talking about?” she asked.
I moved in closer, “An alternate timeline where you succeed in stopping Nightmare Moon, and I am not leading conquering armies against nations that I discovered in the first place,” I growled, fully realizing what this reality’s version of me must have done.
She just stared at me, mouth hanging open.
“Just take this in stride and stay silent. I need more time to figure things out before I can do anything,” I said, turning to leave.
“Wait!” she called after me.
I closed the door and one of the guards approached me.
“Sir, would you like to inspect a prisoner with a bit more bite?” he asked.
I raised an eyebrow, “Perhaps...”
“Right this way,” he said, directing me to a cell at the end of the hall.
When he opened the door, I saw Cadence, chained and with more bonds than on any of the others.
“Well then,” I said.
“Have fun,” the guard said, closing the door.
“Well Cadence, I know I don’t see you enough, but this is pretty sorry,” I said, getting closer.
“You!” she said, her voice dripping with venom.
“Whoa there, with that tone, I’d think you were talking to Chrysalis,” I said.
Cadence fixed me with a glare that could cut steel.
“I can see this won’t be easy,” I said.
Cadence struggled against her bonds, “My husband will overthrow your precious Nightmare Moon!”
“Good, so Shining Armor is still free,” I said.
“Free and fighting,” she said.
“Fighting, against whom?” I asked.
“You should know, you brought him to heel for Nightmare Moon,” she said.
“I take it you mean Sombra,” I said.
Her glare told me all I needed to know.
I sighed, “That complicates things.”
Cadence gave me a look of something other than hate for the first time.
“What?” she asked.
I got closer to her, just out of range if she were to swing her head the right way at take a jab at me with her horn.
“Thanks to you, I know what I’m going to do,” I whispered.
“What are you talking about?” she asked angrily.
“Why, dear Cadence, I’m going to go and help your husband beat Sombra,” I whispered.
She looked at me like I had grown a second horn.
“You what?” she asked.
“Well, I should probably go and check on Celestia before they start suspecting anything,” I whispered. “Now, do you think you could yell some more? It makes this more convincing.”
I created an artificial black eye for her, along with a few other bruises, while she yelled at me more about Shining Armor and Sombra.
“That a girl,” I said, leaving her.
I walked through the cells, passing a few Wonderbolts, before coming to a door with two guards.
“Sir? Are you sure you want this one?” one of them asked.
“Oh, I’m quite certain,” I said.
The two of them looked at each other before opening the cell door.
Inside, Celestia was chained to the wall, here mane a soft pink instead of its usual array of colors.
The door slammed behind me, leaving me and Celestia alone.
She looked up, and I felt my blood run cold under her baleful stare.
“Mixer,” she said coolly.
“Princess Celestia,” I said, my voice shaking.
“I’m surprised my sister’s lap dog has finally worked up the courage to face me,” she said.
“Heh, you talk as if I weren't shaking,” I said.
“So to what do I owe this honor,” she said, now clearly mocking me.
At this, I surprisingly found new resolve, “A very unique opportunity,” I said.
She raised an eyebrow, “Is that so?”
“Surely, you of all ponies will know what to make of this,” I said.
“Hm?” she asked, now looking more curious.
I moved closer to her, but stayed at a safe distance. Even bound, I still felt unsafe around her.
“I’m not from here, at least not this reality,” I said. “I woke up this morning, and found that everything I had known was wrong.”
“So, you are not the same Mixer that we are all familiar with?” she asked.
“Right. From where I come from, I gladly serve you and Luna since I came here. Only, Luna was restored to her normal self after the Elements were used on her. I also theorize that there is some reason why Discord hasn’t returned,” I said.
“You speak of things that you could not possibly know about if you were lying,” Celestia said.
“So you understand how important I am to salvaging this reality,” I said.
“Yes,” she said.
Just then the doors swung open and Nightmare Moon stepped in.
“Mixer, are you sure you recovered from the hangover? You could hardly handle Celestia in my presence, let alone by yourself,” she said.
“Saddle Arabia has show me some new things, and hardened my resolve,” I said.
“I can see that, you now stand fast in her presence,” Nightmare Moon said.
“Is there some reason you are here?” Celestia asked as if it were a minor concern.
“Yes, Mixer, as it turns out, you free day will have to be cut short. I will be sending you to the Crystal Empire to put down Shining Armor’s rebellion,” she said.
“Right away,” I said, bowing.
I left the dungeon and found Midnight waiting for me.
“The train is awaiting you sir,” he said.
“Will you be accompanying me?” I asked.
“Unfortunately, no,” he said.
“Too bad...” I said.
As I left for the train station, I saw that the ponies of Canterlot were all gloomy, some cowering away when I passed.
When I reached the train, there was a detachment of guards waiting as well.
They saluted me as I passed and boarded the train, following me as I did so.
“So, I take it I will be commanding you?” I asked the pony who seemed to be the senior officer.
“Yes, we will be supplementing Sombra’s forces for this mission,” he said.
I nodded and took a seat while the train lurched into motion.
As we rode the train, I noticed that the moon hung high in the sky, displaying the dark figure on its face.
This was the first time I had seen the fabled, ‘Mare in the Moon’ since I came to Equestria, since Luna decided to remove it after her return.
The train ride continued on in silence as we approached the frozen north.
Some of the guards pulled on extra bits of clothing to protect them from the cold temperatures, but I didn’t, still half expecting the climate in the Crystal Empire to be the same as my world.
To my displeasure, it was just as wintery in the Crystal Empire, with an odd shadow around it.
When we passed through this shadowy veil, the wind slowed and the snow began to fall in delicate flakes.
We disembarked the train, and moved up the main street, right to the palace.
Sombra was standing at the base of the palace, waiting for us.
“I told her that I don’t need your help,” he said, obviously annoyed at my presence.
“I’m sure you don’t but Nightmare Moon would rather have this dealt with quickly,” I said.
“Fine, come with me,” he said, leading me into the palace.
We went to a table with a map of the surrounding area and there was an area circled in red.
“This is where the rebellion is camped out,” Sombra said, pointing to the circled area.
“Do we know how many of them there are?” I asked.
“Less than a hundred, but they have spirit,” Sombra said.
“Then, we’ll just have to break that spirit, won’t we?” I said.
“You always were ruthless like that,” Sombra said.
“If you can distract them, I can infiltrate their camp and take care of Shining Armor. Without a leader, they will fall into disarray, and your forces should be able to easily take care of them,” I said.
“And when do you propose we strike?” he asked.
“Whenever you can be ready,” I said.
“Then I will go and gather my troops,” he said.
“Well, this sure is going to be fun,” I said to myself when he left the room.
For some odd reason I felt like I was being watched at that moment.
I looked around, looking to see if there were any ponies that could have heard my remark.
I couldn’t see any, but I still had that nagging feeling that there was somepony watching me.
It dawned on me just before a blade swung at me from behind.
“Good to see some things haven’t changed," I laughed, dodging the familiar hidden blade.
“You should hide your movement more closely,” Soulless said.
He was the same as the world I came from, black coat, red mane, dark sunglasses.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been so glad to see you,” I said, dodging another swipe.
He looked confused.
“What’s the matter, cat got your tongue?” I asked, as he tried to go for my throat.
I dodged a few more swipes, before grabbing his hoof with my magic, just inches from my neck.
“Come now, you’re not usually this sloppy,” I said.
I let him draw back, getting some distance between us.
“Why do you keep talking like you know me?” he questioned.
I laughed, “I suppose it’s because I know you better than yourself sometimes.”
“But we’ve never even met before,” he said.
I contemplated this, “Well, I suppose we wouldn’t have,” I said.
“You sound nothing like your profile,” he said.
“Oh, I have a profile? I suppose I should feel flattered,” I said.
He frowned at me, “What madness are you spouting?”
“Listen friend, I happen to have need of somepony with just your talents,” I said.
He teleported behind me, holding his blade to my throat, “Like this?”
I laughed, “I was talking about your invisibility, but that helps as well,” I said.
“How did you?”
“It would take too long of an explanation for the time we have, now I need you to help me. I need to convince Shining Armor that I’m here to help,” I said.
He held the blade tighter to my throat, “Why, so you can bring him to Nightmare Moon?”
“No, so that I can help him defeat Sombra,” I said.
“And what purpose would that serve you?” he asked, now starting to draw blood.
“Getting back to the reality I belong in,” I said.
He loosened slightly, “What do you mean?”
“Quick, hide yourself, he’s coming back,” I said.
He went invisible and I felt the pressure of the blade disappear as well.
“They are ready to move out,” Sombra said.
“Good,” I said, looking the other way to conceal the slight cut on my neck.
“I will be waiting for you with the troops,” Sombra said.
“I will be down shortly,” I said.
He left and I felt the cut, and the few dabs of blood that had dripped from it.
“I knew I could trust you,” I said out loud, before leaving.
I meet Sombra and the troops below the palace, preparing to march on the rebels.
“Are you ready?” I asked.
“We’ve been ready,” he said. “But we had to wait for your sorry flank.”
“Then let’s move,” I said.
We started moving out of the city, and into the frozen wastes around the city.
Soon we could see some smoke in the distance from the rebel encampment.
“Alright, you put on a good show, while I go and grab the guest of honor,” I said.
Sombra grumbled as he went to the troops, preparing them for the engagement.
I however, went off and approached the camp from a different direction, on which was closer to where Shining would most likely be directing his forces.
It was not too long of a time before I head the sounds of Sombra’s forces charging the rebel base.
I slipped in behind their lines as the fighting began, keeping to the shadows as much as possible to get to Shining Armor.
I soon found a large tent, and I head Shining Armor inside, talking to one of his soldiers.
“How could they have found us so quickly?” Shing asked.
“I don’t know sir, but we’re boxed in, the cliff face is preventing us from retreating,” the soldier replied.
“We don’t have the strength to fight our way out either,” he said.
“Perhaps I can help,” I said, slipping in through the front.
Both of them turned to me.
“You!” Shining Armor said, his horn glowing with magic.
“The Nightmare Knight!” the soldier said.
“Nightmare Knight?” I said, shaking my head, “I really need to work on introductions then.”
Shining Armor fired a bolt of energy at me, while the soldier grabbed a spear that he had leaning against the wall of the tent.
I blocked the bolt, and held up a hoof.
“I’m not here to fight, at least, not to fight you,” I said.
“I don’t understand it either, but he seems genuine,” Soulless said melting into visibility next to Shining.
“Soulless, what do you mean?” he asked.
“He means that I’m here to help,” I said.
“How are you here to help?” Shining demanded.
“By giving you a chance to get back at Sombra, and get Cadence back,” I said.
“What do you know about Cadence?” he demanded.
“She’s at the Canterlot castle, in the dungeon. And so are Celestia and your sister,” I said.
“What do you want?” he asked.
“I need you to come with me. If Sombra thinks that I captured you, then we won’t suspect anything until you are free, and have your way with him,” I said.
“How do I know you won’t just turn me over to Nightmare Moon?” he asked.
“Would you rather I skip over the Sombra part altogether and take you directly to the Canterlot?” I asked.
“No, I want to deal with Sombra myself,” he said.
“Then put this on,” I said, producing a ring.
“No way,” he said.
I sighed and put it on, then picked up a rock with my magic to show him it wouldn’t stop him from using his.
“See? Now put it on,” I said.
I turned to Soulless as Shining put on the ring, “You need to stay invisible until the time is right.”
“And how will I know when that is?” he asked.
I smiled, “Oh, you’ll know.”
“Oh, and I’m sorry Shining, but I’ll need to tie you up as well,” I said, grabbing a coil of rope.
“This plan just keeps getting better,” Soulless said.
Shining Armor stared me down before complying and holding still while I tied him us.
“If you have any instructions for your troops, I’d suggest giving them now,” I said.
“What could I tell them?” he countered.
“To surrender possibly. If they do, then there will be a greater chance that they could be freed when we pull our little coup de ta,” I said.
Shining nodded to the soldier who hurried outside.
“Well, shall we get this over with?” I asked.
“Whenever you are ready,” Soulless said, becoming invisible.
I walked out of the tent, carrying Shining with my magic, holding him high in the air so that all could see. It almost looked like I was holding up a white flag.
I could see that the rebels started to throw down their arms, surrendering to the pressing soldiers.
Sombra approached me, wading through what had just been a heated battlefield.
“Took him alive I see,” Sombra said, like that was a bad thing.
“It got the reaction I wanted,” I said.
He growled, “True enough.”
“Now, let us take him back to the Crystal Empire,” I said.
“And what do you propose we do with these rebels?” he challenged.
I looked like I was contemplating the decision.
“Tie them up, we shall show the others what happens to rebellion,” I said.
The rebels were chained together, and led through the city to the palace.
Sombra took Shining Armor and tied a rope around his waist, hanging him off the balcony of the palace.
Sombra and I met in the throne room.
“So, what do you intend to do with the rebels now?” he asked.
“Oh, I don’t know. I was thinking of making them a surprise for Nightmare Moon, or maybe Chrysalis,” I said.
I was hoping that Soulless was either around to catch the hint, or otherwise already working on freeing them.
“I was thinking something more along the line of a public execution,” he said.
“You would waste the time to execute so many rebels?” I asked.
“Why not? It would ensure that no rebellious ponies would dare oppose us again,” he said.
“Or it could inspire others because of them dying as martyrs,” I countered.
Sombra growled, “You seem to want to keep them alive awfully badly.”
I sighed, “Do you really have to have such bloodlust? It’s really unbecoming for a pony in your position,” I said, mocking him.
He growled again and punched me in the face.
“You beat me last time because of your army, but how will you fare just one on one?” he asked, preparing to fight me.
I smiled, “Don’t you mean three on one?”
“Ha, you think there are other ponies here to save you? I ordered the guards to keep all Nightmare Moon’s troops out of the palace,” he gloated.
“This is treason,” I said.
“So it is,” Sombra said, grasping a sword from behind the throne.
I laughed out loud, “You have no idea how helpful that is.”
He didn’t respond, only came after me with his sword.
I used my gauntlets to deflect the blows while I bought Soulless time to free Shining Armor.
Instead I heard fighting down below.
Backing away from Sombra’s attacks towards the balcony, I could see that there was a three way fight going on down below.
Soulless had successfully freed the rebels, and the soldiers from Nightmare Moon were fighting Sombra’s forces.
“This is going rather smoothly,” I said, blocking a downward swing from Sombra.
Just then, Shining and Soulless appeared from over the edge of the balcony, right behind Sombra.
“Looks like you’re trapped,” I said.
“Traitor!” Sombra spat.
“Coming from you, that is pretty ironic,” I said.
Sombra tried, but he couldn’t fight the three of us.
While Soulless had Sombra’s blade locked, Shining Armor pulled it out of his grasp, and turned it on Sombra.
Sombra stumbled back, a large wound on his shoulder.
“Any last words?” Shining Armor asked.
Sombra simply glared at us.
“Didn’t think so,” Shining said, kicking Sombra off the balcony.
I went over to the ledge and looked down. I saw that with his good arm, Sombra was hanging from the balcony.
“Huh, he’s still holding on,” I said, nudging his hoof off with magic.
He fell to the battle below.
“Well that takes care of that,” Soulless said.
“Now, you two need to drum up an army while I ‘flee’ to Canterlot,” I said.
“Actually, I think you staying here is a better plan,” Soulless said.
I sighed, “Really?”
“I agree, you’re staying with us,” Shining said.
I sighed again, “As much fun as that sounds, it doesn’t help you any,” I said, jumping onto the balcony railing.
They tried to pull me back with magic, but I teleported to a spot down below.
“Pull, back! Leave the traitors to stew in their rot!” I shouted to the troops loyal to Nightmare Moon.
They started to detach themselves from the fighting, leaving the traitor guards and rebels to duke it out.
“I can’t believe that Sombra would betray us like that,” the senior officer said, racing up next to me.
“We have to get back to Canterlot and unveil this treachery,” I said.
“Agreed,” he nodded.
We soon reached the train station, but found more traitor guards, as well as rioting citizens waiting for us.
“We don’t have time for this,” I said, pushing straight through the crowd.
We fought our way to the train and began heading towards Canterlot.
“I think we lost a few,” one of the soldiers said.
“We were lucky to make it out at all,” I said.
“Yeah, who knew Sombra was a traitor,” another soldier said.
“What about the rebels?” another asked.
“Quiet all of you,” the officer said.
“What is it?” I asked.
“We need to search the train. There could be rebels or traitors on board,” he said.
“Alright then, I’ll head up towards the engine,” I said.
“Split up, three to a car,” the officer said to the rest.
I walked up through the train, reaching the engine.
“S-sir, is there a problem,” he stammered.
“Are there any passengers on the train besides us?” I asked.
“No sir,” he said.
“Good,” I said, moving to the coupling between the engine and the rest of the train, pulling the pin.
I watched as the rest of the train slowly pulled away, leaving just me and the conductor in the engine.
“Sir?!” he questioned.
“There is no time for delay, full steam ahead!” I said.
He cast a questioning glance at me, before giving the train more speed.
Soon we reached Canterlot and I hurried to give the ‘news’ to Nightmare Moon.
“Mixer, you’re back so soon,” she said.
“There were some, complications,” I said.
“What kind of complications?” Chrysalis asked.
“Sombra tried to kill me, and the rebels made a surprise attack in the confusion,” I said.
“So, Sombra thought he could betray us,” Nightmare Moon said.
“Yes, but it proved to be his undoing,” I said.
“You always do the job Mixer,” Nightmare Moon said.
“While I was able to kill Sombra, were were not able to overpower both the rebellion and the traitors,” I said.
“Let Shining Armor and his foalish rebellion march on us, they shall know the extent of their folly,” Nightmare Moon said.
“What do you wish me to do?” I asked.
“For now, nothing. We will let Shining Armor think he has the upper hoof,” Nightmare Moon said.
“Why not just crush his little rebellion now and be done with it?” Chrysalis asked.
“Because, the hour grows late, and I’m sure that Mixer here would like to rest before the coming battle,” she replied.
“Yes, I would apreciate some time to recuperate,” I said.
“Then rest, but be ready when you wake, for the rebels could strike at any time,” Nightmare Moon said.
I went to the room that I had woken up in, and somehow managed to fall asleep.
