The ponies of Equestria have advanced in their technologies. After an Industrial Revolution, and then a Space Age, the first fully-functional robotic prosthetics were developed, and ponies began to trade their flesh for cold, hard, metal. Half of the planet has been lost to the Infestation, an insatiable techno-plague that repurposes living matter into beings of combat and despair. Ponies are now created from a few sets of stored DNA; no pony has been left fertile. The benevolent diarchy of the ages long forgotten no longer exists, and now, only a cyborg creature of immense power exists. Her name is Queen Sparkle.
