Who knew Celestia concealed her sister? At least Luna was in the books! But Matriarch was tired of being in the dark, and now she wants revenge! And who better to be caught up in this mess, then Twilight Sparkle!

Chapter 1

"C-Celestia! Why would you do this to m-me? I-I loved you!"
"I used to love you back" Celestia said," But you won't be apart of me anymore."
"CELESTIA!!!!!!!!"

Celestia's sister, Matriarch, another alicorn who used to live and play with Celestia and Luna.
But this was before her great betrayal to Equestria.
Twilight noticed something was off about Princess Celestia lately.
"Princess, is something wrong?"
"Hmmmm? Oh! No,Twilight, I just have a lot on my my mind today" Celestia said.
Twilight believed there was something else behind Celestia's smile.
She couldn't figure out what it was.

"AAAAAAGH!"
"What's going on?" Twilight demanded.
"Twilight, one of my men got attacked!"
She looked up from the brutally beaten solider, to see her brother, Shining Armour.
"Shining Armour! What happened?"
"I-I'll tell you"
They looked at the solider.
"A strange pony, with no shine in her eyes, asked where Celestia was! I told the large pony I didn't know, then she used really creepy magic! Look what she did to my leg!"
Twilight and Shining looked at the solider's leg. It was bloody and twisted. Twilight and Shining looked at each other.
"Twilight, we need to find out who did this"
"I can't agree more"

"Princess," Twilight said."There was a strange pony in the castle, any idea who she was? She was a pony with no shine in her eyes."
Celestia sighed,"I will tell you at the gala tonight."
Twilight had almost forgotten the Grand-Galloping Gala was tonight, but she wondered why Princess Celestia was waiting to tell her about the strange pony, but she knew Celestia had her reasons. It's not like Celestia is covering anything up. Is she?

Twilight was at the gala, with Rarity's new dress. The dress was a light blue, with glittering circles on the edge. The shoes were also blue, but they had glitter covering every inch of it. On the very center of the dress, lay a large blue sapphire. The gala was in full swing. Rarity was talking with AppleJack, who at the time was selling apple products. FlutterShy was with the critters of the castle garden. They couldn't seem to get enough of her. Rainbow Dash was talking to SpitFire, asking if she could join the WonderBolts. Pinkie Pie was playing a FloogleHorn for some crystal ponies who came to the gala. They loved it. Shining Armour was dancing with Cadance. Even Discord was there, providing refreshments. Twilight couldn't help but smile when she saw her friends having fun, comparing to the last gala.
Twilight looked at Princess Celestia, who was greeting people in the gala. Twilight strode up to Celestia.
"Can you tell me about that strange pony now?" Twilight asked.
"Okay, that pony that was in the castle was my si-" Celestia was cut off because a large explosion had taken place in the room poor Derpy was in. She was sent flying across the room.

Where the fire was stood a large figure. A figure as large as Celestia. As the pony stepped out of the fire, Twilight could clearly see what she looked like. She was a bright orange mare, with a bright red and yellow mane and tail. But Twilight also noticed something scary about the pony: She had mechanical wings and a horn that was snapped in half. The other half was missing. The mare opened her eyes, they were blood red and shineless. She smiled. "Don't be afraid my subjects, I'm not here to kill you. Ah, you must be Twilight, how young, vibrant, and arrogant." She shot a beam at Twilight, knocking her against the wall."Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Matriarch", her gaze went to Celestia."Sister! How long has it been since we've seen each other? And how long has it been since you tried to kill me?"

Chapter 4: Avia or Rainbow?

"Hmmmm...." Matriarch said,"I'll go for the horn!"
Avia put Twilight on the ground, then Matriarch stepped on her horn. Everything was a blur after that. Her friends screaming, Matriarch laughing manically, Celestia gasping in horror, but Avia was being completely silent. Twilight wondered why, then she closed her eyes, waiting for the sickening snap from her horn. But it didn't happen. In fact, she felt like there was nopony on her horn at all. When she woke up, she saw Avia attacking Matriarch. She was stabbing her with her horn, making a bloody welt wherever her horn was. Matriarch was screaming in agony.
"What in the hay is goin' on here?" AppleJack asked.
"I think..." Twilight started,"She's realizing she isn't the evil Princess Avia, but she's been painted in a new light. She doesn't want to be evil. She wants to be Rainbow Dash."
Matriarch flung Rainbow of her. She was gasping for air.
"What is she doing?" Rarity asked.
"I think Rainbow stabbed her in the lungs!" Twilight exclaimed.
Celestia stood over her dying sister.
"C-Celestia...." Matriarch started.
"Don't speak sister, your life will be over soon."
"I wanted to say... I'm sorry." Matriarch said weakly. Celestia blinked in surprise."About Twilight, about Luna, about the dead Equestrians. I'm sorry about all of that!"
"Why did you target Rainbow?" Fluttershy asked.
"Rainbow Dash was a lot like Avia in her youth." Matriarch said," So I planted Avia's conscience inside Rainbow Dash, hoping Avia would help me conquer Equestria, but Rainbow Dash was extremely strong-willed."
"She is the Element Loyalty in the Elements of Harmony after all!" Rarity said.
Matriarch chuckled,"Yes, I suppose that explains it."
They all laughed.
"Uhhhhh, it's great and everything, but I don't want to be an alicorn anymore."Rainbow said.
Celestia used a spell to shrink Rainbow and remove her horn.
"That's better." Rainbow said.
Matriarch coughed up blood.
"It's time for her to die." Celestia said.
"End me, Celestia."Matriarch said."Kill me, so I, you, and everyone can know peace."
Celestia nodded. She used a spell to give Matriarch a painless death."Love you" Matriarch said. Then she died.
Celestia shed a tear. "Goodbye, Matriarch."

"Have a good afterlife."

Things in Canterlot were quiet and somewhat depressing. A lot of shops were closed. Many ponies stayed in their homes. And everyone was grieving at the loss of Matriarch.
"Why is everyone sad?" Rainbow asked,"Matriarch was a monster!"
"Be that as it may, Matriarch was still the princesses's sister." Twilight said,"We should give them time to move on."
"That doesn't mean Equestria has to be in a complete standstill!" Rainbow said.
"If the princesses's are sad, everyone is sad." said Twilight."It's been this way for thousands of years."
"......"
A few days later, shops and and other workplaces were booming. And citizens couldn't be merrier. Things were getting better and better each day. Especially in the castle. The princesses were happy again, the gala was back on, and Celestia even gave the Mane 6 an opportunity to stay and live in the castle. Rarity of course moved in immedietly, Rainbow Dash was next. Then Pinkie. Then Fluttershy. AppleJack didn't want to move, she wanted to stay with Sweet Apple Acres. Things in Canterlot were slowly but surely going back to normal. As for Matriarch, she was enjoying the afterlife, with those final words, she managed to pull of a good afterlife. Princess Avia's true form joined her, and everyone, everywhere was finally able to say: "Today was a nice day."

"Ahhh Celestia.... So many memories we put together," Matriarch said," If only you saw things my way, we could have made more memories."
"Ouch.... gee, what was that?" Twilight said to herself,"That was raw power! I never knew it could hurt so much!"
"Oh! It's little Twilight!" Matriarch said with fake glee," Have you ever wondered..." Matriarch used her magic to move Twilight until they came face to face," Why you have never met me before?"
"No, Matriarch!" Celestia said with panic," The truth could destroy her!"
"Oh shut up, Celestia! I'm not that ignorant filly anymore! You don't control me!" Matriarch said," As I was saying..."

Equestria

1000 years ago

"Sister, have you ever.... say.... gotten rid of the Equestrian failures?" Matriarch said.
Celestia's face contorted with disgust," Matriarch! Why in Equestria would you say that?!"
"I mean, we don't need them, we don't want them, so why are they here?"
"Matriarch!"
"Why don't we recycle them? Like make other uses for them?" Matriarch asked.
"Recycle? What in Equestria do you mean, Matriarch?!"
"I've been talking this over with Luna, and she seems to agree with me." Matriarch added
"We've been thinking, we ground up worthless ponies into rainbows, so we can make the ponies with worth to us happy! Celestia, it's a great plan, although, I haven't talked to Luna about it..."
Celestia stood up, and slapped the orange mare.
" I never want to hear about it ever again, Matriarch! If we did something as awful and as sinful as that, the society of Equestria would fall!"

But Matriarch went through with it...

"She did what?!" Celestia demanded.
"That's right.... she killed them to make rainbows..." Luna said, feeling sick to her stomach. When Celestia heard this, nopony had ever seen her this mad before.

Then Celestia got a hold of Matriarch...

"Matriarch, I can't believe you would do this. As punishment, you are hereby banished from Equestria...FOREVER!!!"
"You can't b-banish me!" Matriarch's voice quavered,"I'm making everypony happy..."
" I can,and I will banish you, and to make sure you have learned your lesson..."
Celestia pinned down Matriarch, then then grabbed Matriarch's left wing and tore it off her body. She did the same for Matriarch's right wing. Then, Celestia pushed Matriarch to the ground, so she couldn't get free. The she stepped on Matriarch's horn, snapping it in half.
"C-Celestia! Why would you do this to m-me? I loved you!"
"I used to love you back." Celestia said," But you aren't a part of me anymore."
Celestia walked away from the sobbing, bloody, mare.
"CELESTIA!!!!!!!"

"Ever since that day, I've wanted to do the same thing to you, but I found an even better plan," Matriarch looked at Twilight.
"Here's the deal, you cripple me, I cripple your faithful, little student."

"Well Celestia? My plan is perfect!" Matriarch said.
By now, Twilight was recovering with the aid of her friends, and they had listened to every word of Matriarch's story.
"Matriarch...." Luna was saying.
"Luna, you were always my favorite sister, so I'll let you live." Matriarch said
"Lies!" Luna threw herself at Matriarch, but Matriarch moved to the side, and Luna crashed into the wall headfirst, causing her to become unconscious
"Sister, you don't know the half of it."

With Luna knocked out, and Celestia frozen with horror, Twilight wasn't sure what she could do. Twilight stood up.
"Why, isn't it Twilight being brave? Well, you little filly, let's see how powerful your magic really is!" Matriarch shot a lazer towards Twilight, and Twilight combated it with her own beam. Even without half of her horn, Matriarch's magic was very powerful. Just when Twilight was about to lose, she felt a rush of power. But she didn't know where the power was coming from. Then she found out: Her brother and Princess Cadance were feeding her side of the maelstrom of energy! This was when Celestia regained her senses. She also started to feed Twilight more energy. When the final outburst of power blew out of Twilight's horn, it was like a Sonic Rainboom of energy, only more. Matriarch couldn't take it, she fell to the ground.
"Enough play!"Matriarch said, standing back up,"Rainbow Dash was it? No, it wasn't that."
"Huh?" Rainbow Dash said,"What does this mess have to do with me?"
"Everything!" Matriarch said excitedly, "For I worked with another alicorn in the making of the factory. A strange alicorn with a rainbow mane... Like YOURS!" She shot Rainbow with a beam. "Arise! Princess Avia!" Rainbow's form exploded, and a new pony was in her place. She had large wings, a large horn, and a tall, slim body, she was electric blue, had a rainbow mane and tail. And, she had Rainbow's eyes.
"Matriarch!" said Avia,"How long has it been?"
"Too long!"
Avia picked Twilight up with her magic. Celestia started to run towards Twilight but Avia held a knife to Twilight's neck. "Not another step Celestia! Now, what should I tear off first, Matriarch? The wings, or the horn?"
