Twilight was exhausted. She spent most of her day in a rush. Applejack needed help chasing off rabbits that were stealing her apples, Rarity needed several different things from several different locations, Rainbow Dash needed some help making special shoes to protect her from lightning, and Fluttershy needed to round up some rabbits that Twilight swore were the exact same ones that gave her trouble that morning! At least she could go home, relax-
"Hi, Twilight!"
Or she could get interrupted on her way by Pinkie Pie, the one pony she didn't want to see right now!
"Please go away."
"Why? You look totally down. And who better to cheer you up?"

Instead, she got a restless night.
She heard a soft knock at her door, so, groaning as she got up, she went downstairs to open it, forgetting that the door was unlocked.
One of her visitors, on the other hoof, realized this, as she got downstairs to see two concerned and two angry faces. She turned to head back upstairs when a cyan streak cut her off,
"What did you say to Pinkie? You hurt her feelings and I want to know why!"
Twilight turned and walked down the stairs, "Leave me alone, Dash. I just want to be alone right now."
"Twilight, dear, whatever is wrong? You seem to be out of it right now."
"I just-... Oh." Twilight rolled her eyes at Rarity, "Oh, THIS is what you're doing, huh? Trying to play good cop bad cop, right?" Twilight started back up the stairs, pushing past Rainbow, "Well, it doesn't work when your suspect walks away, now does it?"
"TWILIGHT!" Twilight turned around as the orange earth pony ran up to her, a massive scornful look on her face. "Ah saw what you said to Pinkie, and that was just downright rude. If ya don't apologize, you're not getting anything from Sweet Apple Acres."
Twilight rolled her eyes again. "I'll just shop somewhere else then! It's not like I need apples."
Fluttershy decided to take her turn to change her mind. "Twilight, you're tired. Please calm down and-"
"THANK YOU, CAPTAIN OBVIOUS!" Spike chose now to walk in through the front door, wearing an irritated look on his face. "That's what I've been saying this whole time! I don't care about any of you right now! Even you, Spike!" Rarity gave him a concerned look over her shoulder.

Spike knew his blow for Pinkie was on it's way, and he knew it would be the biggest and hardest. But all he said was two words:

Twilight froze at the sound of a regal voice. She whipped around and sure enough, at the top of the stairs, the last pony she wanted to see at the moment,

And with that, she left. Spike glared, but, deep down, felt proud of himself for knowing when to call on Celestia again. Rarity offered him a ride to the boutique, not even seeming to acknowledge Twilight anymore. The rest of Twilight's friends simply gave her a look that reflected how they felt about the situation, before following Rarity out the door.
Twilight sat there, a small twitch in her eye. Suddenly, she put on a huge smile, "Right! I'll get Pinkie to apologize, then that will solve! Good plan? Great plan! Bye, books! Be home by breakfast!"
"I'm so glad you all could make it today!" Pinkie said to her, "guests," which were actually inanimate objects, as she moved to take her place at the end of the table. As far as she knew, they were animate beings, capable of thinking and feeling. In reality, she was moving them, if they did move, and talking for them. "I really appreciate the company after my fall out with Twilight."
"What that Twilight said was downright rude!"
"And the way the rest of your friends just ignored you was almost as bad!"
"Now if we're going to insult somepony, it should be the egghead, Twilight. The rest of the girls were not being rude, they just didn't know."
"That's right! That ruffian deserves no respect!"
"She should be put down!"
"She deserves to have her coat turned into paper!"

As if on cue, the cake got an ominous, purple glow, before exploding into an insane and unwanted unicorn.

Pinkie sat there with a slack jaw, baffled by what just happened. "Wait, I'M supposed to apologize to YOU? What did I do wrong?"
Twilight leaned in very close her face twisting into another shape of insanity with each word she said. "Princess MAD is Celestia me AT! You at fault! Apologize!"
After a moment to process Twilight's very disjointed statements, Pinkie's expression twisted from confusion to rage. "Woah woah woah, wait. You're upset at ME because the princess is mad at you for insulting ME? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU, TWILIGHT?"
Twilight leaned in closer. "Apologiiiiiiiiiize?"
Generally, if someone can do magic, it's not a good idea to punch them, but they both had lost their minds at this point. Twilight stumbled at the sudden force applied to her jaw, but recovered quickly. Not quickly enough to avoid the buck she took to the stomach. She slammed against the wall, and when she tried to move away, a sudden force prevented her from doing so. She looked at the weight against her to see a very deep magenta pony with a psychotic grin on her face.
"You know what, Twilight? I'm going to punish you in a way the princess never would, just for ruining my party. And I'm going to enjoy every little whimper and scream you give me."
Twilight put on an equally insane smile. "Try it."
Pinkie spun Twilight to face the wall, pinning one of her forelegs to her back, before pulling her head in close, and whispering in her ear,
"Trust me, I will."
Twilight's head was ringing as she woke up. She put a hoof to her head in a futile attempt to get it to stop as she looked around the room. The first thing she noticed was that she wasn't in her own room.
The second thing was the big, red stained lump right next to her.
"Oh, no!"
She pulled the sheets back to reveal Pinkie Pie, with a perfectly flat mane, covered in red stains.
"No no no!"
She shook the magenta pony to get her to wake up.
"P-p-please. Please be a-a bad j-j-joke o-or something!"
Pinkie began to stir.
"Twilight? I- what happened?" Her voice was weak, causing Twilight to panic even more.
"Pinkie, look at me! Look at me! Don't look at anything else! Don't look anywhere but me!"
Pinkie, to curious too follow Twilight's order, looked down at her red stained coat. Twilight froze as Pinkie lifted a bright red hoof and licked it, still eerily calm, as if she was barely hanging on.

It was a rare moment. Fluttershy beat Applejack at something. Sure, it was just to asking an obvious question anyone would ask when told to follow someone before they ran off, but she still won.
Rainbow Dash had more pressing concerns. "Sugar Cube Corner. Spike said something about Pinkie being hurt, but not much else."
Fluttershys eyes went wide. "WHAT?"
Applejacks face grew aggressive. "If Twilight had something ta do with this, ah swear ta Celestia, I'll buck her ta the moon mahself."

Rainbow got cut off because, as she rounded the corner, she ran into Spike, Rarity, and, almost literally, nurse Redheart.
Applejack and Fluttershy stopped just behind her. "Wha- huh?" Rarity rolled her eyes at Applejacks confusion.

Now Dash rolled her eyes. "Yeah, for animals."

"It's probably nothing, Pinkie. It was probably just a lack of sleep making you tired and nauseous. You just need water and rest and you'll be-"
Before they could continue, nurse Redheart burst into the room, followed by their friends. The nurse walked over to Pinkie, who was still sobbing. She promptly began checking on Pinkie the same way she does in every situation like this.

Twilight looked up at her friends. All of them had some mixture of concern and anger written all over their faces.
"What did you do?"
Twilight looked at the ground, a single tear falling from her eye.
"I'm sorry."
"Hey, girls?"
Apple Bloom was on her way to try for another cutie mark with her fellow crusaders when something crossed her mind.
"Have either of ya'll seen Pinkie recently? Ah'm just worried because ah haven't."
Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle looked at Apple Bloom, then at each other, then back to their friend.
Finally, Sweetie Belle spoke up. "I think she's on vacation or something."
Apple Bloom wasn't convinced. "But she never needs vacations or anything like that. Her whole life is a vacation." She rubbed her chin in thought. "It feels like we missed an important announcement."
Before either of them could continue, Scootaloo made an important observation.
"Oh mi gosh! Rainbow Dash just went into the hospital!"
"What?" Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom turned around quickly and, sure enough, saw Rainbow Dash enter the hospital.
"Why would she go in there?"
Sweetie Belle made a dark observation. "Do you think Pinkie might be in there?"
Apple Bloom and Scootaloo only stared for a while. Scootaloo made the recovery.
"Only one way to find out."
Scootaloo slowly nudged the door to the hospital open and looked inside. Prior antics taught her not to yell for anypony in there, unless she was aiming to cause panic or get thrown out. She slowly went in, followed by her fellow crusaders. Once inside, they looked around to find five other ponies there.
They found Dash of course, sitting with Fluttershy, who looked like she was trying to comfort Dash in some way. Rarity and Applejack were near them, both looking nervous.
Ditzy doo was trying to figure out how three foals got into her house.
Apple bloom trotted up to her big sister. "Hey, Applejack?"
Applejack was too busy looking at a spot on the floor to notice her little sister.
Apple Bloom prodded at her cutie mark. "Applejack!"
The mare in question finally raised her head to look at the foal in front of her. "Hey, sis. Didn't see ya come in."
"What's wrong? Where are Pinkie an' Twilight?"
Applejack resumed looking at her spot on the floor. "Well..."
At that moment the doors to the back opened, with the nurse standing between them.
"You can come back now." Everypony stood up (with the exception of Ditzy) and started towards the doors.
Scootaloo followed with the group until it came to a stop next to a window. Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle hopped onto their sisters backs, and gasped at what they saw. Unfortunately for Scootaloo, she couldn't quite see into the room. She felt a slight bump on her side, and looked to see an inviting blue wing to hop on.
As soon as she was on Dash's back, she saw what had shocked her friends so much: Inside the room was Twilight standing next to a bed. A bed with a pink maned, purple foal in it.
Sweetie Belle was the first to ask. "Is that Twilight's?"
Rarity looked at her sister. "Yes, technically speaking."
Apple Bloom looked confused. "Technically speaking?"
Scootaloo frowned. "And what about Pinkie?"
Applejack chuckled. "Ah believe ya'll just answered each others question." All three crusaders were confused for a moment. Finally, Apple Bloom realized what she meant.
"Pinkie's the mother?"
Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle were shocked. "WHAT?"
"Oh, yes!" Fluttershy was excited. "I'm sure that she'll make a wonderful mother, since she is Pound and Pumpkin's baby sitter!"
Scootaloo frowned. "Wait a sec, where has Pinkie been for the last six months?"
"She was still in town." Rarity was still adoring the foal. "She just didn't want their relationship to be revealed yet. Now that their child is born, I'm sure she won't mind you girls knowing."
"I would be worried about us knowing, considering that it's us we're talking about."

Pinkie walked up to her side, weary from the child birth, and nuzzled Twilight, which she returned affectionately. It's amazing how their relationship, and their child, Glitter, came from a bit of psychosis.
