Episode 2: From Out of Space!

RedJoy crept slowly through the tall grass. She knew that she would be in trouble if the tribesponies saw here.

She reached a patch of blue flowers called Poison Joke. Alicorns were immune to their affects so she continued on.  Suddenly one of the tribesponies turned towards her direction. She ducked down so her blue mane blended in with the flowers. The tribepony walked over to the flowers. He looked around and went back over to his friend.

RedJoy sighed in relief. That was too close. She continued on towards the temple where she believed the Alicorn Necklace was. The necklace was part of a collection of evil objects like the Alicorn Amulet.

She wondered why anypony would make such evil things. She made it to the temple doorway where she looked inside. There were many visible traps and obstacles but there was a good chance there were more traps that were hidden.

She crept in, being careful not to stand on any buttons.

She came to a large hole in the floor where the ground had split due to its age. RedJoy was about to just fly over it when she noticed the trip wire near the walls. The wires were too close to each other for her to fit through with her wings out.

She couldn’t fly so she would have to jump. She took a few steps back and ran.

She made it to the other side and waited to see if she had set off any traps. Nothing happened.

She continued on down the hallway when she came to a large room. In the centre was the Alicorn Necklace.

She took a step forward. She heard a click as she stepped on a button on the floor. “Oh come on!” she thought out loud. She jumped forward just in time to dodge a barrage of arrows. She walked carefully up the stairs to the necklace.

She thought about it for a second. Remembering the time she read about in one of Daring’s books.

She looked at the pedestal the necklace was rested on carefully. She noticed a small hole under the necklace that looked like a thunder ant nest. Thunder ants are ants about the size of a soldier ant but they hurt about five times as much.

They are known to swarm their prey just like soldier ants. She knew that if she moved the necklace the ants would attack. She sat there and thought for a few minutes. Then suddenly she got it! If she somehow covers up the hole then she would be able to grab the necklace and run. She looked around and saw a large rock.

She brought it over to her with her magic and she lifted up the necklace. She quickly placed the rock over the hole and jumped back. She noticed a hole in the roof and flew up out of the temple.

She let out a breath she didn’t realise she was holding and looked up. Right there in front of he was about a dozen tribesponies. “Oh great.” She said to herself. She turned and flew as fast as she could. They all chased after her.

She looked back and saw the ponies chasing her. She flew close to the trees and used her magic to move the branches into the tribesponies paths. About four of them flew into the branches and fell to the ground.

Suddenly there was a bright flash. RedJoy recovered quickly and flew down into the trees.

The tribesponies seemed to still be dazed by the flash and kept on flying.

RedJoy flew back up after a few minutes and looked around. She saw smoke coming from the west and decided to take a look. As she got closer she saw that an asteroid had crashed into the jungle. It seemed to shine strangely as if it was made of metal. She flew down to the ground and noticed tracks leading away from the asteroid and into a cave.

RedJoy followed the tracks and went into the cave. It was pitch black inside so she casted a light spell and ventured in. she was in there for about ten minutes when she noticed the faint outline of a pony laying on the ground. She approached the pony slowly. He seemed to be badly hurt so she lifted him up with her magic and carried him back to Hoofsdale.

She took him straight to the hospital. She explained what happened and they took him to a room. She stayed by the bed and waited. She was almost asleep when the pony awoke. He screamed and jumped up. “NO!” He cried. He saw RedJoy staring at him in surprise. “Where am I? Who are you?” he panted. “You’re in the Hoofsdale hospital. My name is RedJoy. I brought you here after I found you in a cave.” RedJoy replied. He seemed confused. “Hoofsdale? What planet am I on?” he demanded. “Planet? You’re on Earth silly.” RedJoy replied with and friendly smile. “You must have hit your head quite hard” she finished. He looked around the room. “Earth ha? Well fancy that.” He replied. “Hmm. Are there Changelings on this planet by chance?” he asked. “Changelings? Yes but not in Equestria. Why?” RedJoy replied. He looked around the room again. “Seems like these ponies are about a tech level three. With a slight sense of fluffy architecture.” He said to himself. “Um I’m sorry mister but I have no idea what you talking about.” RedJoy said. He looked at RedJoy with a curious look in his eyes. “You seem quite small. Are all ponies on this planet that size?” He asked. “No, I’m just thirteen. But still the bravest pony that has ever been in Hoofsdale! Other than Daring Doo of course.” RedJoy replied. “This Daring Doo. Is she some kind of warrior or the such?” he asked. “Not really. Wait! Why are you asking me all these questions?” RedJoy demanded. “Who are you anyway and where did you come from?” She continued. “My dearest apologies. My name is Silver Zephyr and I come from a planet called Ponillia.” He replied. “Ponillia? Wait are you saying you’re from out of space?!” RedJoy asked. “Yes. Clearly this planet has yet to master space travel.” He replied. RedJoy’s eyes widened and she started smiling. “Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh!” she yelled with excitement. “Um are you ok?” Silver asked. RedJoy calmed herself down and look a deep breath. “Yes um sorry. It’s just that your from out of space! Early you mentioned something about changelings. How do you know about them?” RedJoy asked. “They killed every pony on my planet. I’m the last survivor.” he replied. There was an awkward silence for a few minutes. “So what are you going to do now?” RedJoy asked. “I guess I will have to find somewhere to stay on this new world.” Silver replied. “You could stay with me if you want. At least until you can get a house of your own.” RedJoy offered. “Really? You would let somepony you just met stay in your house?” Silver asked. “Of course! I love helping anypony in need. No matter how strange they are.” RedJoy replied. “Ok then, lead the way.” Silver said.

RedJoy led Silver Zephyr back to her house. She had just moved into her own house and had still a few unpacked boxes lying around. “You live on your own? I thought you said you were only thirteen?” Silver said. “I am, it’s just that I can look after myself.” RedJoy replied. “What could possibly prove that a thirteen year old filly is able to look after herself so well?” Silver asked. “Quite a lot of things really. I can fly and use magic, I can fight off and out fly the tribesponies in the jungle.” RedJoy replied. “You say you can both fly AND use magic?” He asked. “Well I am an alicorn after all.” RedJoy replied. It seemed like he noticed her horn for the first time. “Oh… I see. Well that’s new to me.” Silver replied. RedJoy showed Sliver Zephyr around and took him to his room.

Later that night when Sliver had gone to bed, RedJoy sat there thinking about what had happened today. Suddenly she remembered the Alicorn Necklace. She went over to her bag and looked inside. It was still there. She had a sudden urge to put it on. She reached into the bag and pulled it out. She just stood there and looked at it for a while. She knew about what these objects did to ponies that put them on but she did anyway. She felt a flash of pain and pulled it off. She felt strange but put the necklace away and went to bed.
