Maybes are not always promises
Chapter 1 – Good morning and I'll see you when the sun rises
Your mind is blank and the only noise that seems to seep into its colorless void is a faint sound of a voice, but the call seems too distinct to focus on and your minds dullness continues on. The seals from the world are still in there comatose state as your mind begins to fill with a stomach turning pain running through your head.
But the pain that was rolling in your mind and around your face is replaced. Your eyes are still closed as the new feeling overtakes you, and strangely the desire or need to open them is still escaping you. The warm feeling that has started on the tip of your nose almost like an itch is now the only thing your dim mind focuses on.
Although with every passing moment the itch and warmth that now is moving across your body is starting to make you stir. After a few moments you instinctively twitch your nose and bring your hoof up it and rub it against its fur.
As you do this you feel the warmth from the covers trace the motion all the way up to your snot. The moment the cold bottom part of your hoof reaches the tips of the fur on your nose your mind wakes up and you're flooded with the return of a sharp pain in the back of your head.
Your eyes burst from their dormant position as you stare up at the ceiling, "ow!"
The wood patterns in the ceiling are a blur and the only thing you can truly see is a mix of colors. You blink your eyes frantically, still trying not to move your head on the pillow. But the hooves against your closed eyes bring more than just focus to the room; No, as the room becomes clear your mind starts up in a scream with the memory of why your head hurts. "VIOLET!"
By the time the words are a warm expelled breath of air in front of you, your hooves have already become planted on the wood grained floor. Your stance is wobbly and the pain in the back of your head is roaring into your ears. But all of this is put aside as your eyes quickly snap onto the empty gold and white crib, a fear sits in your stomach alongside the now brought forth question you exclaim out loud, "Why was I in bed?"
Your legs quickly find your balance as you walk over to the crib, the pink blanket and soft blue sheets are folded nicely with a small white pillow laying on them.
"Twilight! Twilight!!" You break out into a gallop out of the room as you call her name.
You feel the tingling warm feeling on the tip of your snout every time you swing your head back and forth as you look down the hallway on your right and then towards the stairs on your left; as you call her name through the unresponsive house.
"Twili...-" Your voice is cut off as your head swings back to the bottom of the stairs.
"Um...good morning?"
Your breathing is heavy as you're taken off guard by her perfectly brushed mane and confused stare she is giving you. Your quick down the stairs and you stammer to talk, "Twilight! Where's Violet! What happened?"
She gives a little giggle as she turns back into the main library.
She stares at you still with a completely confused expression, "You must have hit your head harder than I thought yesterday."
Your breathing is a heavy and slowing pace which is in complete contrast to your mind, which is being run at high speed trying to understand what she said, hit my head? I got dropped by a changeling?...you stiffen your stance as you look at the lavender mare in front of you.
"Are you ok?"
Her squinting gaze carries a concerned look which starts to bring your speech back to you.
Twilight blinks at you for a second almost a little hesitant to talk.
"Twilight?" Your eyes squint as you anxiously wait for her to talk.
She holds her hoof up to something behind you as she talks in a low sweet voice, "She’s eating breakfast....tell me, how many hooves am I holding up?"
You swallow hard as you stare at the lavender mare in front of you, there’s no way that was a dream last night...there’s no way I fell on something...After a few seconds of an awkward stare you slowly bring your head and body to turn and face the direction of her hoof.
All your thoughts pause for a moment as your eyes meet the light purple filly holding a bottle to her mouth as she looks around the room aimlessly.
A smile bitter sweet smile crosses your face as you think, either I’m crazy or my father protection needs a tweak. You look back to Twilight with a giggle smile as you talk, "She’s ok."
Twilight nods her head as she gives you a look over, "yes....but I don’t think you are.?"
You nod your head which brings another tingling sensation to the tip of your snout, you rub your hoof against it before you turn and walk over to the little filly, "Hey, Violet...how are you."
The little fillies blue eyes lock on to you as you make your way across the room, she is still sucking down the small bottle as you reach the edge of her high chair and run your hoof over her mane. But the smile you have held comes to a halt as you rub your hoof through her mane...the high chair was broke yesterday...you swallow hard as you rub your hoof over the filly.
Violet focuses on you as the bottle starts to become empty.
You turn back to the spot where Twilight was standing only a moment ago. As your eye’s meet her she gives you a sweet smile as she walks over to where you both stand, “We should probably take you to Doctor Stable.”
You give a smile as you nod your head and look at the ground, “Ya...” You bring your head up as you look over Twilight, “Twilight...I love you.”
Her sweet smile fades as she takes on a more serious tone, “Its wasn’t your fault....
Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Your eyes are closed but you hear the voice from earlier around you, which slowly brings you out of your daze. You listen to the voice for a moment the feminine voice changes into two...one a young kid’s voice and the others you can now tell is Rarity's. The floor you lay on starts to become real beneath you as your eyelids start to slowly crack open, you feel your head resting on some kind of cushion but the rest of your body still sits on the hardwood floor of the library. Where you dropped yesterday, only you’re on your back now.
Your eyes are now half open and you blankly stare up at the two voices standing close to where you lay.
"...Telling him to wake up will not make him wake up faster darling."
With a shift of you're still half closed eyes you stop looking at the white mare and move your eyes to the purple dragon who is crazily running his tail. He nods his head to Rarity and as he swings his head down he catches your gaze, "Rarity! He’s up."
The white mare to your left quickly brings her head down to you as she talks in a low voice, "Oh, my are you ok?! You must have taken a nasty fall down the stairs."
You stare at the mare with a slow mind, your mind is holding the thoughts onto why you're laying on the ground but you can’t bring your voice out or bring yourself up from the ground. You silently stare up at them as Rarity brings her head closer to you with a more concerned look.
"Oh my, don-don't move ok."
She turns her blue eyes to Spike who now is wide eyed and staring at you, "Spike, go bring me another towel, quick."
As you listen to her words your mind frees up a thought and you're rushed with a tingling sensation on your muzzle. But this is not the only thing that comes with it, you are overcome with a sudden warm sensation trickling down your throat. A sudden urge comes over the warm feeling rushes down your throat and you jerk yourself up with a cough.
Bad move, your mind has been hiding something from you that now comes front and center into your mind.
Rarity backs up from you with a gasp as you cough up blood from the back of your throat, each uncontrollable cough brings a shock wave of pain through your whole body and then resonates in a thumping pain at the back of your head where two hoof print welts sit.
Your eyes tear up and your breaths come in fast and rapid sensations as you cough the blood up almost at the same speed of it running out of your nose onto your already slightly blood dried coat.
Through the pain and watery eyes you stare at the dried blood and think, how long was I out, and why am I bleeding!
Spikes clawed feet clang against the floor as he returns into the room with a damp white towel.
Rarity floors the towel over to your face as she tries to hold herself from gagging, "Um, here you go."
You try to bring your front hooves up to the towel but as you do this you move your head which sends another shock wave through you and you shiver in your upright position with a loud yell of pain.
Rarity wipes the towel over your nose as you stiffen from the yell.
The cool dampness does nothing but turn the towel into a now bloodied rag, "Oh please just take the towel it’s so disgusting!"
You manage to get a hoof up to the towel and you hold it in place as you look up to Rarity who is holding her hoof up to her mouth, "oh, Spike just go and get Twilight."
Spike nods his head as he runs up the stairs.
Your mind is still not fully aware of your surroundings but as you woozily look up at Rarity you wonder why she just didn't do that in the first place...that thought is put aside as you again remember what you still cannot call out, you grind your teeth as you try to regain control of the hoof that holds the towel you just moved in hopes that you can help get yourself up.
Rarity still holds her hoof up to her mouth as she tries to look away from you and talk, "Did you fall off the stairs? Because me and Spike found you face first on the ground."
You shift as you hold the rag up to your now coagulating nose, you still can’t answer her as you continue to push yourself up a little, the idea of not being able to explain what happen is only fueling the thoughts of you not being able to keep Twilight and Violet safe..
"Um, Twilight is not upstairs...Violet is not either?"
Rarity looks past you towards Spikes voice as she cocks her head, "What was that?"
You look to the still open door behind Rarity, the outside is dark and moon lit... Your eyes are heavy and your mind is still filled with the painful thought as you stare outside with a growing need to run out the door. You push the thought to the back of your mind as you try to calm your thoughts to help you talk.
As you stare outside the doorway becomes blocked by a cyan and rainbow flash of color.
"Twilight!"
Your eyes widen as you watch the cyan Pegasus dart into the room toward Rarity, Her voice is a high pitched rushed tomboyish call, "Where’s Twilight! We have a big prob...-"
Everyone's voice in the room goes dull as your mind kicks up with a burst of adrenaline that over takes your body and your pain as you quickly bring yourself up and into a charge towards the cyan pony finally able to talk and move, "RAINBOW!"
She only has a second to turn her head before you and her are brought down to the ground, you place your top hooves over hers and pin her to the ground as you feel your frustration and pain come to fruition at your mouth’s hot yelling breath, "Where are they!"
Rainbow's caught off guard moment doesn't last long as she turns the table on your weak body and turns your takedown against yourself. The moment challenges your strength you buckle and collapse onto her, not even a breath later she has flipped you over bring your head bouncing off the ground.
You shake at the pain that rings your ears from the contact with the hard floor. The tingling sensation comes back to your nose but at your current posture the drainage soaks back to your throat. You're unable to roll over due to Rainbows pin so give futile coughs on the ground.
Rarity presses her hoof onto Rainbows cyan coat as she tries to move her, "Rainbow gets off."
Rainbow's determined and confused face turns a concerned then saddened face as she watched your eyes water up, she quickly brings herself off you. Right as you feel your body become yours again you roll over onto your side and give a few good watery cough.
You stare at the ground as you try to close your eyes to calm your pounding head.
"What happened to you?" The normal tomboyish voice of Rainbow is now a girlish high pitched almost squall.
You try to talk through your sobbing as you roll yourself onto your stomach and try to push yourself up, "Twilight,...bug thing....need...go...them....must." The fact of your words not making sense doesn't deter you from what you must do. You continue to bring yourself to your hooves as Spike chimes in with a deepening voice of concern.
"What do you mean? Where’s Twilight?"
Rarity, Rainbow and Spike start a chorus of questions as you slowly bring yourself to fully stand up. Your head is pounding and your mind can't focus on everypony's questions, "Changeling."
Rarity takes a big gasp as she starts to talking Pinkie pie, "Changeling!W-what doyoumean Changeling?! T-they never come into Ponyville?---"
Her voice is dwarfed by Rainbow's as the cyan mare takes herself up into the air with a loud exclamation, "That’s why I came here I saw a few Changeling around Luna Cave when I was flying back from the weather meet!"
Spike pulls on his tail as he still stands on the staircase, his voice is fast and crackly as he talks, "Are they ok?"
Before anyone else can talk you weakly callout to Rainbow, "which way?"
Rarity puts her hoof to you as she talks in her crazed high pitched girlish yell, "Are you crazy!? Y-you cannot just go by yourself to fight changl..-"
"Then let’s go! What are we waiting for?! Twilight needs us!" Rainbow shakes Rarity as she hovers in the air next to her.
"Of course we're going but you need to rest." Rarity presses her hoof into your coat a little more firmly.
You look down at her white hoof pressed into her before you bring your head up to her with a fiery determination in your eyes, "I have to go Rarity...it’s my fault they're in trouble..." You feel your body growing hot as you speak your last few words, “...and nothing is going to keep me from them...”
She blinks at you speechless for a moment before she takes her hoof from you, "then let’s get everypony ."
You make your way past her as you get outside into the cold moonlit night, "You do that...We can’t waste time."
Rarity tries to grab at you with her hoof but you're already out of her reach, "Wait, you cannot go alone."
Rainbow quickly darts next to you as she puts her hoof on you, "You don't even know the way."
You suck your nose back as you continue down the path with a little stumble, "I'm not waiting, go get help with Rarity."
Rainbow turns back to Rarity as she keeps her pace with you, "Rarity you and Spike meet us there ok?!"
You don't turn around as you focus on the path in front of you. You still feel woozy but your pained head is pushing through it with each step you take.
End of chapter 2
Chapter 3 - Tomorrow better have roses
"Alright, the coast is clear."
You give a cold shiver as the air being pushed down from her wings brushes up against you as she lands herself on the ground near the tree you lean up against. You give a sigh and instinctively nod your head which sends a little twinge of sharp pain through your body.
Rainbow looks you over as you painfully tighten one eye waiting for the shock wave to crash back down, "You ok?"
You push yourself from the tree as you stumble past her down the dirt path, "Ya, I’m fine..." You look around the path as you continue down it, you have only been down this path once and it’s a lot more overgrown than the other paths in Ponyville. The trees that grow here are not as thick as the ones around the Everfree forest but they still slightly cover the top of the trail in a canopy of leaves. But that’s not what makes it different than other paths, this path which you forgot about, gets steeper as you progress. Which is not good seeing as how every time you get to a steeper hill you instantly look up it and get hit with a pain that runs down from the base of your head through your spine?
Rainbow walks close behind you keeping her head on a swivel as she looks up and around the path, "Listen we're getting close to where I saw it when I was flying back from the weather meet, so don't make any loud noises."
You talk in a low voice as you lead on down that part, “Sorry I jumped on you...but the changeling was disguised as you...” You choke up a little as you try to not let your thoughts get the better of you.
She blows the comment off with a light hearted chuckle, “YA and sorry for slamming you on your flank.” She pauses for a moment before she continues, “Now be quiet we don’t wa...- Whoa!-”
You quickly jerk your head back to her high pitched fading squeal ready for anything, but don't see her just an empty path behind you. A jolt of pain shoots through your turned neck and you scream out in a shout unable to hold your voice down, "Rainbow!?"
A few leaves drop down in front of you and you hear a branch crack...oh shi-.....A loud branch crack is heard from above you and you bring your head up to see a Pegasus changeling jumping swooping down at you. Its red mouth hangs open in contrast to its slink dark colored fur. But your sight of it is only a blur as the fang creature takes you to the ground, you grunt as your head jiggles from the fall but you manage to stop yourself from hitting the ground head on...the moment of success is just that a moment..as you now hold your attackers chomping jaws only inches from your face.
"Rainbow!" You struggle your grip as you push the smaller pony bug thing from you, each chomp brings its sharp white teeth to a loud teeth banging followed by a growing hiss, "hhlllaaat hhhlllaaat hhhlllaaat"
With each bang of its teeth a little bit of saliva spraying on your face. The changeling’s bright blue eyes roll back into its head each time its neck snaps forward towards your face.
"Fuckkkk!" out of a burst of energy you send the smaller pony off of you and fling it on its back.
Your adrenaline is pumping and your heart beats in the insides of your ears in a fear for your life, but the crippling pain in the back of your head stops you from doing anything.
The changeling growls loudly like an angry dog as it starts to push itself closer and closer to you.
The changeling is knocked off of you in a cyan blue mid bite, your heart is still beating in your ears and the sounds around you now are engulfed by its battle drum.
You quickly bring yourself to your hooves as you look to see Rainbow holding the failing creature down, her Rainbow mane is messed up around her face as she quickly brings her head to you, "Look out!"
You turn with a side step to look behind you, good move for a change. Another sleek black figure skids across the dirt road in front of you. Its bright blue bug like eyes are fixated on Rainbow as it lowers its head. You waste no time in cutting off its intended target as you do what has always come naturally in situations like this, you charge into the changeling into a tree behind it.
The changeling gives a high pitched squeal as it must not had expected the side swipe, your charge is brought to an end as the changelings body is thrown up against the tree trunk. Its head bangs up against it and stumbles around for a moment as you back up and get ready for it to move. But the changeling looks dizzy and falls to the ground in a faint.
You breathe a sigh of relief at the victory, "YA!"
"Hey A Little HELP!?"
You bring yourself to a gallop as you run over to Rainbow who now is struggling to hold the kicking changeling down. You meet up next to her as the bug eyed Pegasus breaks free of Rainbows grasp, "Whoa!" Rainbow is thrown onto her flank as the changeling hisses at you and takes up off the ground.
You spring into action as you jump at the changeling and bring it down to the ground, it flails under you with a few more saliva drenched hisses. You Head butt it as it closes its mouth and the changeling flops its head back to the dirt path. You bring your hoof up to your head as you yell in pain, "Am I fucking stupid!?"
You sit on the dirt path holding your head for a moment until Rainbow nudges you to get up, "Come on, there could be more let’s go!" Her high pitched tomboyish voice rattles your head but you listen as you struggle to keep up pace with her as you both gallop down the path.
After a few moments Rainbow finally slows her pace down as she turns back to you with an out of breath voice, "Oh man....y-your bleeding! Are you alright?"
It takes you a few moments to catch your breath as you look down at the bloody fur that sits on your leg, you don't feel any pain but that’s most likely because of how shaky your body already is, “I’m not going to like turn into one of these things right?””
She shakes her head as she stares at it, “No, it’s not like there a werepony or something.”
You think over what she said for a moment but quickly ask another question, “Are they usually this aggressive?”
Rainbow squints at you and talks in a high pitched annoyed voice, "How the hay should I know?"
You swallow back your dry throat as you talk, "You guys do this stuff all the time?"
Rainbow shifts her eyes around as she stutters, "I only saw these things like once when we went to Canterlot for Shinning's wedding."
You calm your breath as a thought slams into your head, the only time you met changelings they were all laughing and calm...sure they were bug creepy ponies but they were not so crazy what would make them so...your mind is silenced as a fear driven thought bashes your center of think, "Rainbow we need to get Twilight now!"
You bring your tired body to a full gallop as you try to push the thought back in your head, if the changeling are out for a revenge th.... you hold your mind from it as you push your hooves harder onto the ground with each step.
"Wait, we need to go slow." Rainbow is flying next to you to keep up with your pace.
You talk through your shaking breath as you push your aching body forward, "No Rainbow we have to get there now!"
End of chapter 3
Chapter 4
The part of your leg where you where bite is aching and gives off a pulsating burn every time you push against the ground with it in your gallop, it hurts but you hold the urge to stop back as you focus on the clearing that is just up ahead. You have been down this path once and even though it’s only lightly brought to light by the half moon overhead you can remember this part of the path...and you know you're close.
Rainbow flaps her wings a little harder as the clearing of the over ground path come into almost hooves rang, "Wait."
You stop yourself just before crashing into her as you quickly talk through your panting, "What...why?"
She quickly gets behind you and pushes on your backside as she talks, "We can't just run out there, if theres changelings in the trees they would be at the entrance to."
You think over what she said as you are pushed behind a nearby brush near the cut off of the path's brush. She’s right, I do not want another one of those things to bite me again..."Ok, how lo...-"
She shoves her hoof into your mouth as she brings her other one to her mouth, "Shhh, you want them to hear us?"
Oh god! You feel yourself about to gag on the dirt hoof that was just shoved into your mouth. You look down at the cyan leg that protrudes from you as you move your head back, "ugh."
She squints her eyes at you a little annoyed, "Oh sorry I forgot to use soap after running through the forest!"
You shove your hoof to her mouth as you shhh her.
You both pause as you hear a branch crack a little ways in front of where you two stand. You ready yourself to the sound as you both turn your head forward... There’s a moment of hesitation before you both move to peek through the overgrown brush that shields you from the opening of the cave.
As you peer out your eyes meet nothing but the dimly lit rock outcrop of the cave opening...you shift your eyes quickly around the area one more time before you burst from the brush out into the open.
You stand a little frozen for a moment as you realize you have just lost your cover. But you're not met with anything which brings a relieved feeling over you after your stupid action.
"Are you crazy?" Rainbow slowly creeps out from the bush as she throws her head in different directions still making sure the area is clear.
"Rainbow are you sure you saw a changeling going here?" A feeling of doubt creeps over you as you stare at the lifeless cave in front of you.
Her tomboyish voice is low as she still tries to stay quiet, "Yes, I saw one heading over here."
"Well why....-" You stop your voice as another crack is heard from the bushes you two just exited. You both jump back from the bush ready for something to jump out.
"Whoa!" Rainbow takes herself into the air to dough the bolt that just barely misses you.
A significantly larger unicorn changeling emerges from the bushes with its head lowered and its horn glowing still, it smiles as it lowers its head towards you and another bolt is sent streaking to you.
"Crap!" You throw yourself to the side as the chiming bolt runs past you.
Rainbow shouts at the snarling sleek black figure, "Hey You big dummy over here!"
The changeling turns its glowing head and sharp blue eyes towards Rainbows hovering body as it releases another bolt of magic.
"Whoa." Rainbow dose a intensely fast flip leaving here rainbow tail streaking its bright color through the dark canvas of the night as she moves from the bolts path, "That all you got buddy?"
You pick yourself off the ground as you watch in disbelief as Rainbow continues to mock the increasing angering changeling...your heart is pounding just as much as the last time and the fact you have not had a heart attack is just a stroke of luck...how can she just poke fun at this?!
"...And you call yourself a changeling!" Rainbow dodges another bolt with a quick spin, but the changeling has wished up to her and sends another bolt in rapid succession that finally hits its mark.
Rainbow lets out a pained yelp as her wing is stuck with the green bolt, she hits the rocky dirt ground hard and holds her leg to her wing.
"Rainbow!" As your words exit your mouth you feel a tingling sensation start to come over your body... the feelings start-up intensely and brings your body to a shake...your magic which has been laying in dormant for most of the time Violet has been around has just been thrown into a kick start as you scream to the changeling whose horn glows bright.
The changeling turns to your yell but it’s too late as a purple and green stream-like wall shoots from your body and is rushed to the sleek black coat of the changeling. The loud chime that usually follows magic is replaced with a sound of a fire having gasoline fluid squirted on it. With a loud singeing sound the wall makes contact with its target, a ring of fire burst from where it hits and the large buggy unicorn changeling is sent flying backwards onto its back.
It gives a slight movement forward to sit up but collapsed back down.
Your body feels incredibly weak as all of the magical discharge leaves your body, but strangely your head feels clearer. The tingling sensation returns to your nose as you feel a few hot drops of blood seep from it but you suck it back as you run to Rainbow. Your voice is shakey from your outburst of magic but your still understandable, "Are you alright?!"
She’s wide eyed as she stares at the motionless changeling on the ground, "Y-ya I’m fine.." She gives a pained groan as she tries to move her wing to her back.
You hold your hoof out to her but you only can hold it in the air with a guilt filled face, you look at her dark blue wing as she moves it slowly back to her back; it doesn't look burned like other magic hits but it looks really badly bruised, "Rainbow, I’m sorry I-I should had been fas..-."
She points her hoof to the cave as she screams in her high pitch tomboyish voice, "GO! Twilight and Violet still need you, you dumbass!"
You bring your head up and start to move at a fast pace towards the opening but still hold your eyes to Rainbow not wanting to leave.
"Go! I'm fine." She gives a pained smile as she holds her hoof to the cave.
"I'll be right back, I promise!" You break into a gallop as you dart into the dark entrance of the cave.
End of chapter 4
Chapter 5 - Might be a...
The inside of the cave are a little colder then you remember and the cave is much darker on account of it being night. The burst of energy that you ran in with has abandoned you, which has interned let your fears of earlier catch up with you...you have to walk slow as to avoid any drops in the cave and to hopefully not alter anything that may be lurking in the black. Your ears are especially on high alert from this thinking, but the only sound that has so far hit your eardrums is the hard breathing through your bloody nostrils.
Each step you take further into this black backdrop causes your mind's already swirling bad thoughts to push past your barriers that you mentally made to hold them back....Your mind is now playing the maddening thoughts in your head as the silence of the dark damp cave gives them the environment to thrive....You listen to your thoughts unable to hold them back, 'the only two things I have left in this world are somewhere in this hellish nightmare...and it’s all my fault for not keeping them safe...
You shiver at the cold reminder in the back of your head, how could I be so stupid. You swallow back your emotion as you listen attentively to the sounds of the silent cave just begging the stone and stalagmite walls to give you a whisper from one of them.
You hold your head on a swivel as you widen your eyes in the dark just hoping to see somepony. You want to call out so badly but Twilight would not have stayed in here on her own will.
"Leave her alone...."
You pause as your ears stand higher than they ever have, thank you. You burst into a full gallop on the slick rock of the cave, heart pumping ears red mind focus on the direction of the sound. The sound was distinct but you know that was Twilight.
As you round a corner you have to blink your eyes into focus as a glimmer of green light is showing through the dusty old cave.
You can no longer hold your emotions back as the light that is just around the corner pops into full view in front of you, "I'm here!!!"
You turn the corner full gallop, your hurt leg buckles a little and you slid into the wall but your still one hundred percent ready for anything.
...you stop breathless at what your eyes give you..."Twilight?"
The hollowed out rock grain, brightly lit green and orange-fire lit room...in the middle of the room from the threshold you're peering through is the lavender colored mare...her coat dust filled and back turned to you for a moment...as your words echo into the room her ears shoot up and she turns with a shocked expression.
...but the hellish nightmare is never over...it never is...as you look at her blue shaded eyes and other soft purple. As she turns you get a glimpse of the large flat almost table like rock that she stands in front of...and you see Violet...her face is riddled with wet fur and her eyes are watery as her mouth hangs open in a silent sob.
You hear your name called from your right, the voice is a rushed almost scream. The cave around you is almost spinning as you break into a full sprint into the room at Twilight's voice not coming from the obviously fake Twilight near Violet. But your heroic entrance is only a second as the ground beneath you no longer becomes solid.
With a chiming pop you have been teleported somewhere in the room, you a little dazed from the quick shake of positions and you stare blankly at the green wall in front of you. You see the Twilight in front of Violet who still sits on the stone table, but you now see two small unicorn changelings with glowing green horns smiling and laughing at you.
Your surveillance and dizziness comes to an end as you feel a warm embrace around you.
"They have Violet..."
Your heart skips a beat as you realize the mare’s voice that has her face into your coat.
You return the embrace as you nuzzle your head into hers, "Twilight!"
Her sobbing keeps her from talking further as she buries her face into you.
"Aw, now that’s touching..." Over Twilight sobbing and your own running mind you look up to the changeling-Twilight who is talking, its voice is a raspy voice similar to Twilight's but still not the same, "...About time you got here, we were starting to think you weren't coming."
The two other changelings in the room give a nasally laugh as their horns hold the green wall in place that has you and Twilight trapped up against the cave wall.
Your furry and over emotional body is brought to a boil as you bring your eyes down to Twilight’s horn which is in encased in a green magical bond. You move yourself from Twilight's embrace as you charge the magical force field in front of you, but you're sent back to the cave wall with a jolt, you let out a pained yelp as you slide down to the ground where you rest.
"Are you ok?" Twilight places her hoof on you.
You burst her hoof off as you bring your eyes to her red puffy eyes, "I'm so sorry..."
She shakes her head as she turns back to the creatures outside of the wall in a loud in charge voice, "Why are you doing this!"
The changelings all give a annoying laugh as they don't answer.
Twilight again calls out as she slams her hoof to the wall, but its throw back and she is moved with a jolt.
The changeling that is still disguised itself as Twilight begins to speak in a clam Twilight voice, "Oh don't worry...you'll see." The changeling Twilight turns her head to the little purple filly who still has crying eyes, "Shhh, don't cry...momma's here to make it all better."
Violet still gives her wheezing whimpers as she sits in her dirt covered diaper on the stone table.
The Changeling-Twilight smiles as she brushes the little filly, "Oh, shh shhh."
Twilight lowers her horn to the wall but as a few sparks of purple magic build up under the green coat that encases her horn she is brought to her flank as she cries out once more, "SS-SToP! Please!"
You bring yourself up from the ground and try to bring focus on any spell to get you out of the current cage you're in...but Twilight's sobbing, the other two changelings nasally laughs and the sight of Violet is too much to ignore and you can't calm your mind enough to think. And this eats away at you as you continue to try and push yourself, WHY... why can't I do anything! I always had some magical fuck up when I’m angry before... but as you open your eyes from your straining you know why you can't do anything...you're too filled with regret, blame and sadness to truly do anything.
You watch completely helpless as the changeling-Twilight talks sweet and low to the little filly, "You're going to be strong for mommy...ok?" The changeling-Twilight smiles devilishly as her horn glows a bright green.
Your mind clears as you watch this action, your legs are shaking and your mind is racing but you are at least able to bring yourself to a spell....you feel your body start to shiver as you watch the changeling-Twilight hovers something over to Violet, the necklace from the box is placed around the little fillies neck...it’s at this point you realize that every changeling in the room all have the same silver necklace on, but unlike Violets there’s glow a bright purple.
Your body is brought to a few last shakes and the back of your head where you were kicked is starting to throb again, but you ignore it.
The changeling-Twilight's horn glows a dark purple color that you have never seen before as she mutters another word, "...Don't worry, this will only hurt a for a seco...-"
You burst out in a yell as you send yourself into a gallop towards the wall again, You slam against the wall and are brought down in front of it. But the wall now fades with a loud chiming sound, the two unicorn changelings that held it in place are sent flying across the room and are thrown into the rock walls.
Twilight's horn prison vanishes and she sends a large bolt of purple magic to the still shape shifted changeling.
But just before the bolt hit it the changeling nods its horn to Violet, the changeling is sent across the room in the same fashion as the other two right as its horn makes contact.
You lay on the ground facing Violets still green glowing eyes as you try to regain your strength....a feeling of mind numbing satisfaction comes over you as you watch Twilight run over to the filly and embrace her in a hug.
You close your eyes for a moment as you listen to your breathing and Twilight's loudly sobbing voice.
"Violet, honey...oh please look at me."
You bring your tired and sore body from the ground as you painfully walk over to Twilight, "what's wrong?"
Twilight wraps her hooves around Violet in a hug as she stares at you with her wet eyes, "They used magic on her...I-I Don't know what that means."
You stare at the light purple filly as you try to understand what that means, "W-what does that mean."
Twilight unfastens the necklace and tosses it aside, a few seconds after the necklace hits the ground the little fillies eyes go back to their normal blue tent and she squirms in Twilight’s hug with a wheezing cry, her eyes focus onto you as she fails her legs at you not wanting to be held by Twilight.
You give a tear filling chuckle as you wrap your sore hooves around the little filly...you can't hold yourself from crying as you rock her in your grasp, "Shhhh, it's ok...it's ok..." You close your eyes as you hold the warm filly close to you.
But Twilight tugs on you as she lets out a big gasp.
You bring your eyes open as you look down at the fillies bright glowing green horn, "What what is she ok?"
Twilight eases the filly on to the stone table as she rubs her mane, "I think she is trying to expel the magic."
You can't stop your emotions as you look at the little filly desperately wiggling her tiny legs to you with her sad expression, your voice is loud and riddled with confusion as you talk, "Is she going to be ok? Twilight!?"
Twilight rubs the fillies head as she talks in a low voice, "Calm down Violet, ca...-"
Twilight's voice is cut off as Violets horn glows brighter, the little filly closes her eyes tightly as the color of her tiny horn grows darker and darker.
"We have to let her expel it on her own, don't use any magic!" Twilight pushes against you to bring you back, you give a reluctant movement as you give to her.
You stare at the pony with completely drenched eyes, I-I can't even hold her...You try to stop yourself from letting your emotions get a hold of you, Twilight stares at the little filly's still glowing horn with the same red eyes as yours.
The tiny unicorn's horn starts to create a ball of light in front her, you stare at the growing ball of light completely speechless as you grind your teeth just hoping this fucked up night can be over.
With a bright light and a puffing sound the room fills with a blinding green light, you close your eyes as you look away. After a second you quickly snap your head back to the filly.
Only... your night has just gotten a whole lot worse.

Epilogue 2 - ...Nightmare
You listen to the grey black pony that stands in front of you, her voice is a very weak and raspy variation of what she once sounded like...but the nightmares that she brings back echoes through your mind in the same tone as her echoing laugh, "Hello, human..." "Long time n...-"
Chrysalis is struck by an intensely bright purple bolt...
You let out a cry of pain as the wind is knocked out of you and you fall over onto the ground thriving in pain...it feels like you have just been shot again and you fur on the front of your coat aches with a sensation of a burn.
Twilight quickly turns her head to you with a speechless and awestruck expression.
You turn your head on the ground as you look at the grey black pony, her legs have more holes then you remember and her mane is a much darker blue-green. She lets out a painful laugh as she staggers back to where Violet sits, "o-oh T-twilight...you should not act so fassssst."
"HOW are you alive Chrysalis!" Twilight keeps her horn lowered towards Chrysalis as the bug queen answers back thought her signature nightmare bringing laugh,"ssssshhaa, did you really think Celestia body trap spell would stop me?!" "....The most powerful mare in all of Equestria?! Her jagged see through bug like wings flicker off her back a little as she comes down from her laughing comment, "Now Twilight don't think I will take all the credit...you helped me spike my waiting time." She smiles as she continues, "...If I had to wait the whole eleven months...who knows I may not have made it."
Twilight is silent as she stares intensely at Chrysalis.
"Ah...yes Twilight...go on now...feed your queen your fears and regrets..." Chrysalis gives a wicked laugh as she shifts her dull green eyes between you two.
As she comes down from her laugh Violets wheezing whimpering can be heard from behind her. Chrysalis smiles as she listen to her, her jagged fang like teeth hang from her mouth as she talks,"Oh yes...I forgot about my little Princess... I’m sorry I had to get rid of your voice...but can't have you crying throughout your dream all night ca..-" As she turns her body just an inch toward Violet another large purple bolt struck her.
And just like before your sent into a pain driven scream as it feels like someone kicking your back with all their might. You arch your back out in pain as you start to give a light weep.
Twilight screams as she looks to you, "Stop DOING that Chrysalis!"
Chrysalis hold her skinny body up with her holed hoof on the stone table as she give another pain filled laugh, "Twilight, I-I'm not doing anything... you are." She gives a wicked coughing as she listens to Twilight’s struggling to understand.
"H-o...you can't...th-..."
"Oh yesss Twilight, Celestia spell has backfired on her!" Her hole punched leg extends to you as she talks, "To save his life she used a transformation spell, but you my little human were already changing into my puppet! The only way to save you was to combine us!" She gives a devilish smile to you and Twilight as she brings her head around to Violet, "...But I guess that had its perks didn't it Violeta?"
You struggle to push yourself up as you call back to her, "OH ya! Where combined hu?" Your body is shaking and you pause as you turn to Twilight fearing your next unchangeable words, "Twilight...hit me with it..."
She shakes her head furiously as she stutters, "I- I Can't...please PLEASE don't ask me please." She brings her head to the ground as Chrysalis laugh echoes in the room.
"Oh Twilight, as to why Celestia has let you get this far with him is beyond me." She turns her devilish smiling face back to you both as she talks, "...You have failed Twilight, you have let this come between you and your duties to Equestria...and now you and Celestia are powerless to stop me." Chrysalis back to Violet with a smile.
Twilight shifts in a shaking motion as she holds her head to the grey-black pony.
You shake as you feel your own magical flow start up under your coat...you stare at the stone dirt covered floor as you talk in a low voice, "Chrysalis...you tormented me once..." You bring your head from the ground as you feel the sensation in your body grow, "...I would rather die than let you do it again..." At the end of your words you close your eyes and let your magic flow from you.
Chrysalis turns shocked at your words for a moment and fearfully backs up from the stream of purple magic that now engulfs her...but her fear is subsided as she starts to laugh, "OH human...this weak spell is only going to make me heal faster... I see you still have not gotten any better with your magic use."
You bring your eyes open as Twilight's voice hits you, "Don't! Please!"
You smile to her as you feel the flows intensity increasing.
Chrysalis laugh starts to fade as the purple glow around her brightens, "What are you do-ing?!" Her grey black coat darkens fast and her holes start to fill...but it doesn't stop, her body is now being encased in a purple glow, "Stop Ssstop this at once! Your Queen commands you! Stop!" Chrysalis brings her glowing hooves up to her face as she start to hyperventilate, "St-StopPp!--" Her voice is cut off as the loud chiming sound turns into a echoing high pitch ring. Chrysalis body starts to almost look like its dissolving as the light swirls around her cutting your sight off from her.
You feel very weak as the bright purple swirl brightens the cave...with a loud proofing bang the light sprays across the room in sparkles that slowly fall to the ground. You collapse onto your front hooves as you struggle to breath.
Twilight runs to Violet and scoops her up in her grasp and holds her tight with the intention of never putting her down.
You bring your eyes from the ground with a smile as you watch Twilight nuzzle the calming down filly's head.
Twilight raises her head on the fillies as she looks at you. A purple light starts to glow from your coat and you feel a different tingling sensation start to build on the outer lay of your coat...it feels like a thousand needles stabbing you. You only look at the light for a brief moment as your fears of the unknown build...you bring your eye back up to Twilight as you smile.
Her eyes are puffy but she doesn't look like she can cry any more...she tightens her grasp around Violet as she talks, "You promised you wouldn't leave me..."
You give a teary eyed smile as you nod your head.
She quivers her lips as she stammers on her next words, "Y-you can't leave us like this."
You hold the smile as your voice cracks up, "Twilight...I lov-"
Your voice is cut off as the light springing from your body finally engulfs you, the feeling that overtakes you feels almost like a strange teleportation spell, but your thoughts are lost as your sight of the room fades.
Twilight stares at the spot where you were unable to bring her eyes from it...Violet pushes against her as she tries to turn to where your voice was. But Twilight holds her tight as her friends familiar voices are heard down the caves tunnels.
