Endless Night

Applejack awakes with a dull ache in her arms. She looks around to see her friends standing in a semicircle before her; backs turned completely. But then she noticed somthing. Where was Rarity? She went to get up to ask the others, and her question was answered. Rarity is dead. The other five stand around her grave; shallowly into the ground with a makeshift cross erect from its far end. Rainbow rests on a spaded shovel, weeping over the loss of her friend. Applejack wondered why Rarity was dead; and then she remembered. She had beaten her friend to death. "God. What have I done?" The words issue from her lips before she can even think. Twilight turns to her friend; and shakes her head. "What in fucks name were you thinking? Why did you kill her?" Applejack studders for an answer, and Twilight comes closer. "ANSWER ME GODDAMNIT! WHY THE FUCK DID YOU KILL RARITY?" The unicorn is furious; standing like an angel of fury above Applejack. "I dont know...." Twilight hears the words come from the ponys lips; and asks again. "WHY THE FUC...." "I DONT KNOW!" The confused and disorented pony shouts her remark to the unicorn, making sure that she was heard. The pony arises from her earthen bed, standing with her friends. Looking into the twilight horizion; she realizes that life is too damn short.

The six friends gather in front of the rickety building. As the others gather their belongings and prepare to leave; Applejack sits guarding the door. She holds in her hands an assult rifle; fully loaded and primed. The mare issues a low-pitched wimper, seemingly from the blackest depths of her soul. Applejack cradles the weapon alike a new-born infant; pressing the stock to her cheek. Feeling the cold metal on her skin adds to the guilt that she had killed one of her friends. A single tear drips down her face; streaking her already red face with vibrancy. Applejack mutters to herself; deeply inhaling on each breath. "W-what the f-fuck am I s-s-suppos'd do now? I done k-kil't my good friend R-Rarity" With the finishing of this sentince; she sighs deeply. Looking at her hooves, long sience absent of the staining blood of her compainion; she begins to cry again. Bringing the muzzle of the assult rifle to her mouth, she places the cleft of her hoof on the handle. As soon as she starts to push the trigger, a tom-boyish voice calls from the destroyed doorjam. "Applejack, were you sittin' out there the whole time? I didnt' know!" The blue pegasus turns the cornter to see her friend, with the barrel of the assult rifle in her mouth. "OH MY FUCKIN' GOD!" The pegasus whips from her leisurly walk and pulls the gun from the ponies mouth. Applejack puts up no resistance; just staring back at Rainbow with eyes swelled by tears. The pegasus slowly sits in front of the sobbing pony; already preparing her pep-talk. "Applejack, you know that Rarity was egging you on. Im not saying she deserved it, but...." The pony lifts her fore-hooves,bringing a pained expression across her visage. "Yo' damn' right she did'nt deserve no' bein' killed, but I-I di'it anyways. HOW'N FUCK'S NAME'M I SUPPOST' LIVE WITH THAT?" Applejack takes up the assult rifle; and quickly grabs the sachel with her name embroidered on it. The pony slings the gun over her sholder, and places the sachel around her neck. Walking about fifteen paces from the confused pegasus; she turns. "I can't live wit'it" With this sealing sentience, the pony runs, directly to the hills known as The Borderlands.

Chest heaving from a mixture of fatuge, anger, and fustration; Applejack rests herself against a large birch. Looking back to see the ground she had covered; the pony makes a startleing realisation. She is deep in the dence forest, surrounded on all sides by trees. Trees. As far as her sight can behold; there is no clear outcropping or any sign of sophisticated life. Looking up, Applejack tries to read the sun to tell where she had been. "Damn. Forgot the sun fell out'a th' sky. Jesus." The mare sighs, laying full against the supporting trunk of the massive tree. A large racket of snapping branches and rustling leaves breaks the pony of her apithy. Before the pony lands a pegasus; carrying a satchel and a katana. "Just thought, ya' know, 'Travel in pairs' and all that shit" Applejack smiles happly at Rainbow Dash; for her undying loyalty was always her best quality. "Ah, Rainbow, Ya' always kno' how ta' crash 'n on any 'casion" The blue pegasus takes this pun as complementrary, and turns her head eastward. "So, how you figurin' we get up this big son'va bitch? I just ask cause I dont have no hint nor hind of this place." Applejack pauses; not fully having planned to get as far as she were. Looking up to the massive height of the trees; and their equally massive obstruction, the pony gets a thought. "I'll stay on th' ground, keepin' measure of where'w are. Rainbow, you go up there and singal me where ta' go. Sound' lik'a smart plan?" The Pegasus looks to the trees, flapping her wings. Rainbow winces with immence pain, clenching her left wing. "I dont think I'll be fly'in anytime soon. My wings bust like a fuckin' twig" Applejack sighs; and pulls a small compass from her sachel. The needle spins rapidly, occaisonaly stopping to point down the mountan. "I figure'd 'ny direction is best't this point. Dem' magnetic fields 're stronger near 'th Nethicite mines. Were right above th' biggest quarry in th' county." Taking another look up the eerely tall mountan side; the two mares begin their ascent up The Borderlands.

Before I am to go any further; I must explain what exactly The Borderlands are. They are a gigantic range of mountans that encircle the land of Equestria on all sides. On the eastern side; where the Mane six are at presently, the hills are at their highest. Two of the larger peaks scrape the Exosphere. On these peaks there is a large glacier known as Blood Rock; for it contains an enormous ammount of Nethicite ore. Nethicite is as light as aluminum, and has the strenght of carbon-plated steel. It also naturally conducts electrictric pulses from the earth; making its own magnetic field. Some legends say that Nethicite was used by humans to exorcise the dead; trapping their eternal souls inside a Nethicite crystal. The Blood Rock also has tempratures regulating at about 30 kP, or -30 degrees Farenheight. Snow encapsulates the largest portion of the mountans; getting about 10-15 Kipps of snow, or 30 feet, anually. Hospitality; Agressive. Possibility of survival; .50%.

Clenching her compainion close, the two mares truge through the freezing snow. Though the frozen precipitation only reaches their ankles; the cold is vicious. Rainbow shudders; shaking the white death from her sholders and hair. "Why the f-f-fuck you th-think He made a fu-u-king place like this? I-it's dea-deadly to b-be out in th-this shit!" The blue Pegasus smirks to the pony; still unable to stop her incessent shivering. "Hey A-Applejack! J-Just when I s-sta-started feel my w-w-wings again, their f-fuckin' numb! N-Numb like a b-bitch!" The pony straightens her face, squinting to the far distance. "H-hey; Rainbow-w.... D-do you see'a tree up th'r?" The Pegasus looks straight ahead, trying to see the invisible tree. "No, I d-dont see s-shit-t." The pony whipes her hoof across her visage; blinking twice before looking up again. "I M-must'a b-been see'n sh-shit. J-just f-f-fuckin' great."

Farther and farther up the mountan, the ponies make their way. Bitter cold and freezing numbness attack every portion of their exposed bodies; threatening hypothermia with every slipped step. 8,772 Kipps above sea level, or 23,000 feet; the altitude is a killer. Low air pressure allows the blood vessels to expand, hightining the risk of deadly wounds. Also; the low air pressure makes for a difficult breath, making the ponies labor the already frigid air. "A-Applej-j-jack; I c-cant feel my f-fuckin' l-legs. G-god, I h-hate the f-fuckin' c-c-old." The Pegasus can now barely move her limbs, feeling the arrest of her joints alike invisible shackles to the ground. Rainbow cannot feel her feet, which have long-sience been frostbitten. She truges in the frozen rain unawares of anything her body may encounter. The mares hoof hits a sharp rock; slicing a small incision in her shin. Rainbow dosent know this untill she feels warmpth around her, and a sticky sensation on her knees. She looks down to see the snow is stained red with her own spilling blood; the cold acting as an anti-couagulient in her disfavor. She gingerly touches Applejack's shoulder (Or as gingerly as frozen limbs can) to gain her attention. The pony turns; immeaditly seeing the bloodied snow around her compainions legs. Applejack returns her vision back to Rainbow's face. The once strong and fearless visage that had made such an imprint on Ponyville was hollow; undermined by terror and mortification. "A-A.J, I d-d-don't t-think'ma g-g-gonna m-make it ou-outa this one. I'm l-losing t-t-too much b-b-lood." She looks back at her ankle, which has torn into a deep gash. The pony looks strongly into her friends eyes; trying to pound assurance into her fearfull mind. "R-Rainbow, w-w-were bol' g-gonna' ma-make it out'a h-h-here. D-don't you f-f-f-uckin' q-quit'n me n-now." The pegasus falls to her knees; her lower body going into arrest. "D-DON' YOU F-FUCKIN' DIE ON M-ME NOW! D-D-DON' YOU FU-FUCKIN' DARE!" The pony is on her knees now; shouting to her dying friend. "A-applej-j-ack...." The pegasus lay in the snow, unable to move her body at all. "Y-yea? W-Wat' is i-it?" Rainbow Dash's eyes; once passonate orbs of fire, now stare blankly back at the pony. "I-i... I...." The pony gets closer to the pony-in-death; desperate to hear what she has to say. Rainbow presses her lips against Applejack's, holding her friend with long-dead arms. Breaking away from the endeadend kiss; the blue Pegasus stares directly into her compainions eyes. "F-f-fuck, I g-guess t-t-his-s sh-shit r-r-really h-hap-p-pens!" Applejack laughs lovingly back to her friend; pushing the frozen hair from her face. "Y-ea. I g-guess i-it does-s." The mares eyes roll back in a half-hearted attempt of sarcasam. "G-guess I re-really got ta g-go. I wa-wanna be here w-w-with you, b-but...." The Pegasus body lay limp, eyes closing once and forever. Applejack gets a mad smile on her face, still holding the frozen body of her companion. Pressing her forehead against Rainbow's chest; Applejack begins to weep. "W-w-why h-her? W-W-HY DID S-SHE HA-HAVE TO D-D-DIE?" Lifting her body from the snow; Applejack cradles the limp figure of her best friend. Looking up to the black sky; the mare screams. "W-HY? WH-Y TW-TWICE? F-F-FUCKIN' TWICE!? H-H-HOW DID S-SHE DESER-R-RVE TH-THIS?! HOW-W?" Wandering up the snowy summit of the mountan; Applejack carries her friend for redemption.
