It started out just like every other day. Rarity shook Sweetie Belle awake and they ate breakfast...such a nice day couldn't possibly hold a little tragedy.
Sweetie Belle didn't even say goodbye as she walked out of the boutique. Her packed lunch was held tightly in her jaws. They had another fight last night. Rarity felt Sweetie Belle was too young to learn magic and ,of course, Sweetie Belle disagreed.
She planned on going to Twilight, since she was a goddess now, to become like a teacher.
Sweetie Belle slammed the door shut and trotted to school in a huff.
Her inner personality screamed for her to keep moving, and she obeyed. Her other half, which was out most of the time, told her to go back and apologize. But what did she know. Hmph.
She got to school and sat down. Ms. Cheerilee was at the board, teaching the other fillies about photosynthesis because two prissy fillies didn't study. The rest of the class was now suffering.
"Psst. Hey blank-flank. Pass this note to Silver Spoon will you." Diamond Tiara whispered to Sweetie Belle.
She turned, took the note and tore it up. Her inner self smiled and willed her to do it. Stuffing the pieces into Diamond Tiara's mouth, she got up and stomped out of the classroom.
The class was in utter shock. Especially the other Cutie Mark Crusaders. Their mouths hung open and watched as their good friend turned the tables.
Cheerilee cleared her throat and began to continue her lesson, keeping a close eye on the bullies of her classroom.
Meanwhile, while Sweetie Belle was throwing her tantrum, Rarity went grocery shopping. Her eyes warned around her neat list. Carrots. Okay, simple enough. She trotted over to Carrot Top, who was selling a few already. She patiently waited behind the pony already buying and heard loud hoof steps from behind.
Turning her head, she saw two fillies running off with stolen goods. Rarity turned to scold them, but heard a screech as a stallion pulling a cart tried to stop.
Rarity let out a panicked scream as the wagon doubled over onto her. Splinters were the last thing on her mind as wood drove into her stomach. Blood spilled from her mouth and all she could think was :
Sweetie Belle! I'm sorry, I should've listened to you!
As the light faded from her sight, she saw Sweetie Belle. A vision sent to her. Half her face looked sweet and innocent, like the filly she was, but the other half was a cruel grown mare with a seductive smirk on her face.
Rarity fell into blackness.
Sweetie Belle stood in the emergency room. Rarity suddenly opened her eyes, looking afraid and in pain.
"My little marshmallow, you have to keep her from-" Rarity managed to say before she started coughing up blood.
The doctor rushed in and pushed Sweetie Belle out.
"She needs peace." he huffed.
Sweetie Belle knew Rarity was going to die. She knew it deep into her soul, so why wasn't she crying?
A little voice whispered in her ear:
Let your tears out young one. The time will come for me stop them.
She recognized this voice, the mare appeared in her dreams. Always stopping the nightmares, like Rarity never did.
Sweetie Belle felt the tears falling down her cheeks. Why did this mare keep showing up when she felt distressed?
She felt numb, her heart lurched when she heard the news. She knew it was coming, but what little hope she had was diminished. Twilight put a hoof on her shoulder. Sweetie Belle wrenched away, then ran into the room.
The doctor yelled at her to leave but she retaliated.
"This is my older sister so back off! You are a sad and lonely stallion with no friends and no pony like you because you are such a tool!" she snapped at the rude stallion.
He stammered and ran off. Twilight walked in, looking concerned.
Two years had passed. Sweetie Belle had grown, but still had no cutie mark. Her mind was on other things. Her magical studies had piled up on her other homework. She had no time for getting her cutie mark. However much she wanted it, her friends avoided her due to the temper that grew over the last two years. Such a happy filly turned into a work-crazed bookworm.
Twilight mentored her but worked her like any other student would be. She was much less stern than the teachers in magic school, but still strict enough.
Sweetie Belle still kept that memory of Rarity close to her. She sung her heart out at Vinyl Scratch's concerts every weekend.
Her young mind was growing faster with the help of Twilight, but that mare still haunted her every step. The mare gave her advice and guided her, but she never saw the mare's face.
Twilight wrote letters to Celestia about Sweetie's progress and her concern about Sweetie Belle talking to thin air.
After a while Celestia wrote back with a spell that could delve into a pony's subconscious.
Twilight knew the precautions and decided to cast the spell when Sweetie Belle was asleep and unaware.
That night, Twilight crept into Sweetie Belle's room. She was tossing and turning in her bed muttering something about a mare.
Twilight slowly charged up her horn. The spell would drain a lot out of her, but she knew Sweetie Belle needed to fix this emotional backfire.
Her horn sent a soft lavender light on Sweetie Belle's head. Searching through the filly's mind, she entered a dream-like state.
Twilight started walking through a black abyss. It seemed to go on forever, but she soon saw a small light. A memory that glowed and twinkled. Twilight walked up to it, to find it like a floating orb of water. The happy memory floated toward her as Twilight recognized the memory from Sweetie's point of view.
Twilight saw Sweetie Belle bouncing in excitement at the thought of searching for a cutie mark with Scootaloo and Applebloom, who now avoided her.
Twilight smiled at the filly, but shook her head and pulled away. As she turned, a mare walked towards her. She had a smirk on her face, and strode forward like she owned Sweetie Belle's mind
Beside the mare, Sweetie Belle walked curiously.
Twilight couldn't help but shiver. The mare looked like Sweetie Belle. Twilight felt like she was looking at the past and the future.
Darkness seemed to swamp her, and she panicked. The mare smirked and moved quickly, lightly touching her own horn to Twilight's. Twilight's pupils grew to the size of a rice grain. Her body wracked with pain, but she couldn't move or scream.
The mare's gaze was locked with hers. Soon, she had no control. The light started fading. Sweetie Belle waved causally and disappeared. Twilight felt the dream-like state falling around her as the mare vanished from view. The trance broke as Twilight opened her eyes in Sweetie Belle's room.
Spike stood over her, looking concerned. Sweetie Belle was standing in the doorway with the mare.
"Twilight, wake up. We have a guest." he muttered.
Twilight stumbled up and shook her head in shock. The mare stood before her, with a smirk.
Spike ruffled up his spines. Twilight could tell he was getting over Rarity. The mare smiled and batted her eyelids in a mimic of Rarity.
"My name is Sweet Heart." she gloated.
Twilight could sense Spike blush, but she knew he was in dragon puberty so she ignored it.
"Nice cover up, now tell me why you're really here." Twilight sat down, aggravated.
Sweet Heart rolled her eyes and walked away.
"I don't need to tell you anything at all." she replied, swaying her hips and she exited the library.
Sweetie Belle looked happier than ever, instead of stressed and angry. Twilight, Spike, and Sweetie Belle searched for her. But nothing. Twilight nearly pulled the hairs from her head when the sun started setting. Of course, I shall not give spoilers on where she is, that would be cheating.
How to Catch an Alter-ego...or Something
Twilight trotted through the streets she now knew so well. Taking in a deep breath to calm herself, she stepped into the crowd. Spike was sent back to the library and Sweetie Belle had to go to work. Twilight scanned the faces as she walked, looking for the white and lavender mare. Twilight caught sight of Sweetie Belle walking into a restaurant with live bands that played through-out the week. Twilight yearned to hear her faithful student sing but alas, there was work to be done.
Twilight caught a glimpse of Sweet Heart's head, but lost her while charging through a large group of ponies.
After an afternoon of searching/pacing, Twilight finally decided to go home.
Sweet Heart weaved her way through the ponies shopping. Her lavander mane bobbed as she rushed to the edge of town. She walked down a winding dirt road towards Sweet Apple Acres. The path was familair and sent a calming sensation through Sweet Heart's mind. Even with the calm, Sweet Heart felt she was forgetting something. Something important. Sweet Heart shook the feeling away and walked towards the Apple Family farm.
The barn came into veiw after a couple minutes. Sweet Heart knocked on the door and saw a old, shrivled, green mare open it. The mare let out a gasp and slammed the door.
"It's her! She's come back from the dead! Ah' can't take it no more!" Sweet Heart heard the mare scream.
"Granny! What's wrong!" Sweet Heart heard a stallion shout.
Sweet Heart stared at the door in confusion. After a while, a small filly with a bow on her head opened the door.
"Ah'm sorry 'bout Granny Smith Miss. What is it ya'll want?" the filly asked.
"I need to speak with some one who knows the area. I heard this family knows all the good places in town." Sweet Heart answered calmly.
"Oh! So your a tourist!" the filly exclaimed.
"Actually, I'm thinking of moving here. Could you tell me where a good, vacant house is? Or do I need to talk with somepony older?" Sweet Heart replied.
"No, Ah can manage! By the way, my name is Applebloom!" the filly said back, "Hold on, Ah'm gon' go tell mah older sister."
Soon Applebloom returned with a map, just in case. The two set off towards Ponyville. Sweet Heart couldn't help but wonder though, what was that old mare talking about when she screamed "...she's come back from the dead..." ?
Sweet heart shook the feeling and followed Applebloom back towards Ponyville. Foreshadowing? Hell yes. :pinkiehappy:
Twilight collapsed onto her bed, drowning in her blue sheets. The smell relaxed her and sent her into a light sleep.
Unfortunately this is my story and I decide who sleeps and who doesn't. Spike shook her awake. Angry? Too bad.
"Twilight, Sweetie Belle wants you to come see her concert." Spike said as he awakened a very unhappy Twilight.
"Ugh! Come on, I just got into bed!" Twilight mumbled before getting up.
"Twilight, I thought it was a good idea to let you come hear me sing." Sweetie Belle said as she walked into the room.
Twilight sighed, "I guess it couldn't hurt..."
Soon the two ponies and the dragon were walking down main street. Until they heard the blood curling scream coming from the Apple Family Farm.
The ponies (and dragon) rushed down the road.
"Where's Applebloom?! Why'd did 'cha let her go with that pony! 'Ah can't believe 'ya just her go!"
"Granny, it's 'gonna be fine. She's probably coming home right now."
"No, she ain't! Didn't you see that glint in 'er eyes! Applebloom's never comin' home!"
"Applejack? What's going on?" Twilight asked as the door swung open.
"Applebloom went to help a pony find a new house, now Granny Smith is freakin' out." Applejack replied, worry edging in her words.
Meanwhile, with Sweet Heart and Applebloom.
Sweet Heart remembered how Sweetie Belle was abandoned by this pony. An alter-ego has many abilities connected to the mind. With every memory, a pony's mind connection is attached. Applebloom abandoned Sweetie Belle in her time of need, and that was unforgivable. What was worse, she felt no guilt. Sweet Heart narrowed her eyes. Her time in Sweetie Belle's mind was long and painful. Something inside Sweet Heart shifted and she stopped walking.
What was she feeling? Resentment? Pain? No...anger.
"What's wrong back there?" Applebloom called back as she continued trotting towards town.
"You must pay..." Sweet Heart muttered before slicing through the air and hitting Applebloom on the back of the head.
The young filly fell to the ground in a yellow and red heap. Sweet Heart quickly used her magic to carry the filly to a place only Sweetie Belle had known about, the Secret Station. The old train station had been deserted for who knows how long and no pony ever went there anymore. Except for Sweetie Belle, to cool of some steam after a fight with Rarity.
Rarity. Sweet Heart thought bitterly in her head. But before she could spit out the name, a new pony popped up into her mind. One whom she despised much more than Applebloom and Rarity.
Diamond Tiara. She must pay! Sweet Heart thought as reached the train station.
Sweet Heart found some old rope and tied Applebloom to a chair. Then grabbed three more chairs. She was certain revenge would be sweet. Sweeter than the sweetest tasting memory to feed on. The hatred inside Sweetie Belle had been formed into one being. That being was Sweet Heart.
The beautiful mare charged up her magic. She was teleported outside of Ponyville. Sweet Heart walked towards one of the larger houses in the center of town. The first filly on her list, Diamond Tiara. The wicked bitch of the west. This revenge would taste so sweet. Maybe even sweeter than Applebloom's would be.
The mare strutted through the door into the store. It was full of ponies at the moment and no one would notice some one went missing, right?
She took her time walking through the rush hour. Two fillies were locked in Sweet Heart's gaze. She licked her lips, this time on the living plain, she'd be able to do what she wished.
The fillies stuck their noses high in the air and started to walk home. The Cakes soon followed, making a delivery. That might be a problem, for an amateur.
Sweet Heart silently slipped in front of them, trotting up to the fork in the road. One led to the old train station, while the other led to Diamond Tiara's mansion. Sweet Heart used her magic to lift a fallen tree and move it in front of the path leading to the mansion. The mare moved in front of the log and made her best innocent and confused look.
"Oh dear! It seems the path got blocked." Mrs. Cake said as the log came into view.
"Let's see if she knows anyway around it." Mr. Cake replied while Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon just rolled their eyes.
"There's a path that leads to the mansion on that road. Not many ponies use it anymore though." Sweet Heart replied, making her voice sound a lot like Sweetie Belle. Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon snickered at the thought of Sweetie Belle ever being attractive.
Sweet Heart lead the four ponies through the forest. She smirked, five victims in one day? Fate you flatter me. she thought. Her strong mind connection with Sweetie Belle gave her away, but by the time Sweetie would appear, the deed would already be done. Mr. Cake was now struggling to carry the cake and Sweet Heart picked it up in her strong magic.
"Thanks." Mr. Cake puffed.
Sweet Heart nodded and walked towards the train station. Apple Bloom had long since awoken and was struggling against her bindings.
"Are you sure there's a path leading to the mansion?" Diamond Tiara whined.
"Truth is, there never was one. Why must you ponies be so gullible?" Sweet Heart replied, her face hidden behind her hair.
"What do you mean?-" Diamond Tiara was cut off by a sharp slice. The fillies fell to the ground in a heap.
"Now, I can't let any pony ruin my fun, you will just get in the way. I guess what I'm trying to say is, your just my toys now." Sweet Heart muttered as she shocked Mrs. Cake by giving her a sharp stab. Mr.Cake silently despaired in shock but it didn't last long, he fell to the ground. Both were dead. Sweet Heart let the glass shard fall to the ground. This was going to be fun.
Sweetie Belle suddenly stopped moving. She just stood there for five minutes her eyes wide in fear. Spike and Twilight glanced at each other before Sweetie Belle let out a blood curling scream.
"No! No! No! Applebloom! I didn't mean it! I swear!" she cried out, tears rolling down her face, "Applebloom! I'm sorry! I'm so so sorry!"
Sweetie Belle took off in a flurry, dirt flying behind her as she rushed to save her friend...
Too late. Sweetie Belle heard Sweet Heart.
Sweetie Belle was in a panic but she knew deep down inside, it was too late to save Applebloom.
