For the Sake of Others
The Short Letter
Previous ChapterDear Princess Celestia,
Today I learned an important lesson of friendship. This lesson involved a giver, a visionary, a revolutionary, and a comforter. You're probably wondering who these four ponies are. The fact is, all of these stated before are actually the characteristics of one pony. The pony's name is True Vision. Before he died on the blood-stricken roads of the Queens, he asked me if he could have his name remembered. For me, it felt like a momentous task, however; throughout the time I had with this colt, I felt his pain; suffering; and his undying passion of longing. From this colt, I learned that in this world we live in, there are evils lurking about, however; when there is evil, there is love. When there is love, there is hope. When there is hope, there is friendship. When there is friendship, there is life. So when we have life, we are called to lay it down before others.
How did this idea come about? Well, I will notify you of this colt's story in person. I feel you will be more intrigued and shocked by this colt's motives. For now, I will give you a poem; one of which the colt gave me before he perished. The poem helps explain the lesson he taught me.
The poem states:
'The difference between friendship and love,
is when you're ready to give your own life,
for the sake of others.
And for those who are like a dove,
Will remember you and your sacrifice,
for the sake of others.
And for those who are like a grayscale rainbow,
will disregard you and your sacrifice,
for the sake of others.
So will you give your life,
for the sake of others?'
I can't tell you how much this poem means to me. For this, I ask of you and I will even beg of you to please...
for the sake of others;
Will you tell everypony of his name and the poem he wrote?
Thank you Princess for reading and I ask of you to respond to this letter indicating a time for which you can discuss this colt's life.
Your faithful student,
Twilight Sparkle
...a friend of True Vision.
