Equestria is considered by most to be an utopian society - there is no segregation, no famine, no disease. All the citizens live in harmony under the rule of the two sisters. But, alas, not all lands are blessed in this way. West of Equestria is the continent of Syedem. Divided in seven kingdoms that strive for complete dominance, there is rarely a time of peace..At present the realms are in the middle of a cold war, waiting for a spark. The citizens of the kingdoms dwell in misery, hunger, pestilance. Superstitious notions rule the lives of the illiterate village ponies.

But today is a special day for the ponies of Greatles. 10 years have gone by since the death of the former ruler king Ironwood and today his heir, the noble king Blackwood has come of age and is crowned the new leader. Whispers among the people say that he will bring an end to these dark ages set by the former kings, his father included, and begin a new golden age of prosperity. And in fact the rumors are true, but before he sets out to reform the land he has a personal vendetta to settle. 10 years ago on this day a rat king, a false king and two servernts died before the eyes of the seven lords, invited by Ironwood in celebration of his son's birthday. Blackwood has reasons to suspect that one, if not all the lords are responsible for his father's death.
