Welcome to the Club

  I was walking down the street when a pink mare that was quite hyperactive tackled me down to the ground. She looked like she was going somewhere fast but when she noticed me she gave a huge gasp, and then began to talk extremely fast. “Hi my name is Pinkie Pie. What’s your name, I would know your name but it looks like you’re new here which means that you’re not from around here so I have to throw you a party because you might not have that much friends. So what’s your name?” She was speaking so fast that it took me a moment to comprehend what was just asked of me.

            “My name is Scratch.” She nodded and in a blink of the eye there was a cloud of dust but Pinkie Pie was gone. I just shrugged and got back up and continued to walk down the street and noticed that I must be in the center of town. There were a few stands of fruit and flower along with other stuff. There was an orange mare who was selling apples. I just kept on walking down the road. When I was just passing by a rainbow flew right past me and landed a few feet ahead of me. I was shocked on how fast she was going. The cyan pegasus walked over to the mare selling the apples and began to talk to her.

            I looked at my back and stretched my wings. Surprisingly they were easy to move. But when I tried to fly I was just flapping them and nothing happened. The cyan mare noticed my effort and fell to the ground laughing so I stopped. I couldn’t hear but the orange mare told something to the cyan pegasus and she got up and stopped, they both then came trotting over to me so I walked up to meet them. The first to speak was the cyan one began to speak before we were in front of each other.

            “Do you not know how to fly or something?” She asked.

            “Rainbow!” The orange mare shouted.

            “Sorry. But honestly haven’t you flown before? You’re a pegasus.” I blushed a bit but gave them my answer.

            “No I haven’t flown before.” They both gave a look of surprise. “That was actually the first time I moved them.”

            “But how did you not know how to move them when you were a colt?”

            “I was never a colt. I’m not from around here.” Again they both gave a look of surprise.

            “But ya’ll should’ve been a colt yer a stallion right now.” I shook my head.

            “Wait were did that necklace come from?” Rainbow asked. Pointing at my necklace.

            “From a machine that took my blood before I came here.”

            “That explains it you’re a human no wonder why you can’t fly.” The orange mare looked at Rainbow with a confused look on her face.

            “What are ya talkin ‘bout Rainbow?”

            “Well Applejack it's a dimensional thing didn’t pay attention but I have one of those so we can go to the human world on day.”

            “Well what’s yer name?”

            “Scratch.”

            “I take it that you’ve met Pinkie?”

            “How’d you know?”

            “Well you smell like sugar cube corner and since I take it you have no money to spend the only other reason would be that Pinkie crashed into you after hearing about a new pony in town.”

            “How…”

            “Word gets around fast. Everypony knows each other so it’s not hard to know when Pinkie is up to something. So you’re going to get a party from Pinkie.”

            “Well I guess I will, but Vinyl said that we were going to have a party tonight.”

            “Well then I guess that she knew you would run into Pinkie? I’m not sure but it’s all up to you.”

            “…..”

            “Well since you don’t know how to fly maybe you would like me to teach you?”

            “Sure it would be nice to know how to fly.”

            “Alright well we can just go over to this clearing I know about that’s not too far from here. Just follow me. See ya later AJ.” And Rainbow trotted off towards the woods. I just nodded to her and started to follow Rainbow. We walked silently all the way but it was nice to see the scenery. After what felt like ten minutes we arrived at a large clearing with a cottage that surprisingly, had tons of animals around it.

            “Okay, now shall we get started?”

            “Sure.”

            After a few hours of failed attempts I finally got the hang of flying.

            “So now that you finally learned how to fly, do you wanna race?”

            “Sure I want to see how fast I can fly.”

            “Looks like the party will begin soon.”

            “Well I have to be at Vinyl’s before we can go to the party.”

            “Okay then, first one to Vinyl’s. Ready. Set. Go!” We both lunched off the ground and I could already tell that she was going to win. She had a good ten feet ahead of me. But we still kept the race going. After a minute we both landed outside of Vinyl’s house with both Vinyl and Octavia waiting for me at the front door.

            “Looks who’s here. Looks like you’ve been busy while we were gone.” Vinyl said.

            “Well I was learning how to fly from Rainbow. We raced here and simply enough I lost. I didn’t know you were that fast. Or the fact that pegasi are able to go that fast.” They just broke into laughter. “What’s so funny?”

            “Well for one, I’m probably the fastest flyer in Equestria. And two, there are a lot of pegasi that can go that fast.” Rainbow explained.

            “Okay let’s get this out of our hand for now. Did you meet Pinkie today?” Octavia asked.

            “Yes I did run into Pinkie but she is one weird pony.”

            “Yes, she is like that we’ve run into her a few times. But I believe that we should be heading to your welcoming party.”

            “How’d you know?”

            “Pinkie throws parties often so it isn’t hard to tell when a party is going to happen. Haven’t you noticed that there are no ponies to be seen?” I looked around and sure enough there were no ponies around.

            “Alright let’s be on our way.” Rainbow flew away towards a shop named ‘Sugar Cube Corner’ but I walked with Vinyl and Octavia on the way there. It was a silent walk but it was calming. We arrived after a minute of walking there. We entered the room and everypony shouted surprise at me. Witch I was not expecting.

            The rest of the night was fun I met most of the residents of the town. Not much happened besides the fact of meeting everypony. Rainbow, Pinkie, and AJ showed me the rest of their friends Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, and Rarity. They are apparently students to the princess. But after the party, we started to walk home from the party.

            We were walking home enjoying the night. Vinyl finally broke the silence. “So how was your first day here?”

            “Well it was fun getting to know how to fly. The party was fun but other than that it was a fun day.” I answered.

            “Good, good. Hey tomorrow I’m going to have to open shop and I was wondering if you would like to work for me.”

            “Sure I’ll work for you. What is it that you do?”

            “Well I run the local music store and make music when I have no customers but if you come to work for me then I will be able to make more music. Some night I go to be a DJ at a party.”

            “Ya I’ll work for you. I’m going to head off to bed see ya guys in the morning.”

            “Night.” Vinyl and Octavia said at the same time. I walked down the hall, began to walk towards the guest room, and went to bed. This is going to be a good time living here.
